A Letter from the Editor
Dear Readers,
Recently I have found myself in a little bit of a funk and while I am trying to walk the walk and practice as I preach and all those other fun expressions, I have to admit that sometimes it can be a little overwhelming
I haven’t even really been “adulting” for very long but the list of things to do just seems to get longer and longer. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it can sometimes feel like all of the direction and guidance we are given can be a little confusing at times You want to be organized and put together but also carefree and spontaneous Make sure to experience and explore all the world has to offer but make sure you have a secure foundation Work hard when you’re young, you can relax when you retire or have fun when you’re young, you can work hard later. You also have to focus on your personal growth, your relationships with others and remember to go to the dentist and change the batteries in your fire alarm. Clean your house! Be healthy! Do your taxes! The list goes on and on.
Heck, I’m exhausted just thinking about it! I am beginning to understand that trying to do and be everything all the time can take away from the joy and effectiveness that comes with whatever I am choosing It is important to trust yourself and to try and understand what you require as an individual to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. This is where the idea of balance comes in.
For a moment, imagine a scale On one side there are marbles and on the other there are coins. It’s safe to say that the weight of one marble is going to be more than that of a coin In order to balance the scale, you would have to put more coins on than marbles. All this to say that sometimes you have to put more attention on certain things to create the balance with things that require less attention. While this ongoing process isn’t always easy I encourage you to keep trying even on the days when it feels like the scale just won’t stop tipping. Speak to yourself with words of kindness and patience because eventually you will get it and the scale wil balance
With love and light, Aria

NURTURING BALANCE IN YOUNG HEARTS
In today’s fast-paced world, finding balance in children’s lives is more important than ever. We often enroll our kids in a multitude of extracurricular activities, thinking that keeping them busy is the key to their success and happiness But the truth is, many children lack a healthy balance in their lives, and it’s essential to teach them how to manage their time effectively.
Children are often whisked away to practices for dance, soccer, violin lessons, and a myriad of other activities, creating a whirlwind schedule that rivals that of a CEO While these activities can be fun and beneficial, they can also lead to issues like adrenal burnout, depression, and anxiety when not balanced properly. Just because an activity is leisurely or athletic doesn’t mean kids don’t need downtime They absolutely do
Teaching kids the importance of balance helps them avoid the pitfalls of imbalance that many of us struggle with as adults It sets them up for a healthier, more fulfilling life
KeyAreastoFocus On:
Proper Meals: Ensure children have time for nutritious meals. Eating on the go or skipping meals can lead to poor health and low energy. Teach them the importance of sitting down for balanced meals
Rest: Adequate rest is crucial for growth and development. Make sure your children get enough sleep each night and have downtime to relax and unwind
Exercise: While sports and dance practice are great, it’s also important for kids to have free playtime. Encourage activities that are fun and unstructured, like playing in the park or riding bikes
Time in Nature: Connecting with nature can be incredibly grounding. Regular time outdoors can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Whether it’s a walk in the woods or just playing in the backyard, nature is a great balancer
Reading and Growth: Foster a love for reading and learning. Set aside quiet time for reading books, exploring new interests, or working on creative projects. This helps stimulate the mind and fosters a lifelong love of learning
Relaxation: Teach children how to relax and enjoy quiet moments. This could be through activities like drawing, listening to music, or simply daydreaming. Relaxation is an essential part of balance
Contributing to Community: Encourage children to get involved in their community. Volunteering or participating in community events can help them develop a sense of purpose and connection
By teaching your children to balance their time across these different areas, you’re helping them build a foundation for a balanced life. It’s not about doing less but about finding a harmonious blend of activities that nurture their mind, body, and spirit This balance will help them avoid the stress and burnout that many of us face as adults.

YinandYang
Living a Balanced Life
Yin and Yang are foundational concepts in Chinese philosophy, representing the dual nature of all things in the universe Imagine them as dynamic dance partners, constantly moving and flowing into each other, creating balance and harmony Although they appear to be opposites, they are actually complementary forces that depend on each other to exist.
Yin is often associated with qualities that are dark, cool, passive, and feminine. Think of the moon, nighttime, and the tranquil waters of a calm lake. Yin embodies the nurturing, intuitive, and receptive aspects of life. It is the energy that allows for rest, reflection, and regeneration. Spiritually, Yin is considered the essence of the feminine divine, representing the softer, more inward-focused side of existence.
Yang, on the other hand, embodies light, heat, activity, and masculinity Picture the sun, daytime, and the vibrant energy of a bustling city Yang represents strength, action, and outward expression It is the force that drives us to achieve, create, and move forward Spiritually, Yang is seen as the embodiment of the masculine divine, symbolizing the powerful, active, and dynamic aspects of life
The concept of Yin and Yang extends beyond physical attributes and into various aspects of life, including health, emotions, and spirituality. In traditional Chinese medicine, maintaining the balance between Yin and Yang is crucial for overall well-being When these forces are in harmony, the body functions smoothly, but if one becomes dominant over the other, it can lead to imbalances and health issues
YinandYang
Embracing both the restful and active sides of life helps us achieve a more fulfilling and harmonious existence By recognizing the importance of both Yin and Yang, we honour the light and dark, the masculine and feminine, the active and passive components within us. This balance allows us to live more holistically, in tune with the natural rhythms of the universe.
Living a Balanced Life
For instance, the kidneys and liver are considered Yin organs, responsible for storing vital substances and cooling the body When these organs are out of balance, you might feel more anxious or fearful, reflecting an excess or deficiency in the nurturing and stabilizing aspects of life On the flip side, the heart and lungs are Yang organs, responsible for circulation and movement An imbalance in these organs can lead to mood swings or excessive excitement, highlighting disruptions in the active and expressive facets of existence
Spiritually, Yin and Yang remind us to seek balance in our lives. Too much Yang energy can lead to burnout, stress, and an overemphasis on doing and achieving. This can overshadow the need for rest and introspection, which are essential for a balanced life. Conversely, too much Yin can result in lethargy, depression, and an over-reliance on rest and contemplation, stalling progress and action.

A MAN’S GUIDE TO BALANCED LIVING
Finding balance in life is a challenge that many men face, especially in today’s fast-paced world. The concept of balance isn’t just about managing time; it’s about harmonizing the mind, body, and spirit to achieve a sense of well-being and fulfillment Often, men struggle with the pressures of work, family, and personal expectations, leading to imbalances that can affect their overall health and happiness. Yet, many men resist admitting they need balance, feeling that they can’t show any signs of being overwhelmed or emotional. Spoiler alert! Even the toughest guys need balance.
On a mental level, men frequently deal with stress and anxiety, driven by the demands of their careers and societal expectations to be providers and protectors. This constant pressure can lead to burnout, affecting mental clarity and emotional stability. However, acknowledging these struggles can feel like admitting defeat, which many men find difficult To achieve mental balance, it’s essential to incorporate mindfulness practices into daily routines. Meditation, deep breathing exercises, and even short breaks during the day can help clear the mind and reduce stress. Taking time for hobbies and activities that bring joy can also rejuvenate the mind and foster a more balanced mental state. However, men often overindulge in activities like video games as a form of escape, which can further contribute to mental imbalance Moderation is key, and setting limits on screen time can help maintain a healthy mental state.
Physically, maintaining balance involves more than just regular exercise It’s about creating a lifestyle that supports overall health and vitality. Men often neglect their physical well-being due to busy schedules, but prioritizing physical health is crucial. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep are fundamental. Incorporating activities like yoga or tai chi can be particularly beneficial, as they not only improve physical strength and flexibility but also promote mental relaxation and spiritual connection Listening to the body's needs and allowing time for rest and recovery is equally important in maintaining physical balance. On the flip side, overdoing physical activities such as excessive exercise or spending too much time on the golf course can also disrupt balance, leading to physical strain and neglect of other life aspects Striking a balance in physical activities ensures that fitness enhances life rather than detracts from it
Spiritually, men might find themselves disconnected due to the hustle and bustle of daily life. Spiritual balance involves finding a deeper sense of purpose and connection to something greater than oneself This can be achieved through practices such as meditation, prayer, or spending time in nature Engaging in activities that align with personal values and beliefs can also nourish the spirit. Building a community or support system that shares similar spiritual or philosophical views can provide a sense of belonging and support, further enhancing spiritual well-being. It’s important to avoid overcommitting to any one activity, even spiritual pursuits, to the detriment of family, work, or other responsibilities. Balance means nurturing the spirit without neglecting other important areas of life.
Balancing the mind, body, and spirit is a continuous journey that requires conscious effort and self-awareness. It’s about recognizing when something is off-balance and taking proactive steps to realign oneself Men should remember that seeking balance is not a sign of weakness but a path to a more fulfilling and harmonious life. By nurturing all aspects of their being, they can achieve a state of balance that enhances their overall quality of life, paving the way for personal growth, happiness, and inner peace Embrace the journey, listen to your inner needs, and take steps each day towards achieving that delicate equilibrium Moderation in all things, whether it’s work, play, or spiritual pursuits, is the key to a balanced and fulfilling life. So guys, it’s time to admit it...balance is essential, and it’s not a sign of weakness to seek it. It’s a sign of strength and wisdom.
hormones gone wild
“Weight gain, especailly around the middle, might make you feel like you’re turning into a human cushion.”
Hormonal imbalances can be a whirlwind for many women, and trust me, I’ve been there. It's like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle. These imbalances throw everything out of sync, messing with your mind, body, and spirit. But the good news is, there are ways to tackle it head-on and get back to feeling like your fabulous self
“These imbalances throw everything out of sync.”
Let’s start with the mind. Hormonal imbalances can turn your emotions into a rollercoaster ride you didn’t sign up for. One minute you’re fine, the next, you're crying over a cute puppy video or snapping at someone for breathing too loudly. Anxiety, mood swings, and even depression can sneak in, making you wonder if you're losing it. Spoiler alert: you’re not. Hormones like estrogen and progesterone play a big role in brain chemistry, so when they’re off, your emotions can go haywire.
Then there’s the body Oh boy, where do I begin? Weight gain, especially around the middle, might make you feel like you’re turning into a human cushion Fatigue that no amount of coffee can fix, irregular periods, and those lovely hot flashes or night sweats can all point to hormonal imbalances. And let’s not forget the skin issues! Acne, dryness, and hair loss like you’re starring in your own personal horror movie. Speaking of hair, those rogue chin hairs that pop up out of nowhere? Yeah, you can thank hormonal imbalances for that little surprise. These symptoms are your body’s way of waving a big red flag, saying, "Hey, something’s off here!"
Spiritually, hormonal imbalances can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and the world around you. You might struggle to find joy in things you used to love or feel a sense of emptiness that’s hard to shake. It’s like your spirit has gone on a temporary vacation without telling you. But don’t worry, you can reclaim it.
So, how do we tackle this hormonal chaos? Let’s dive into some remedies that can help bring balance back to your life
First up, let’s talk diet. What you eat can have a huge impact on your hormones. I found that focusing on a balanced diet with plenty of whole foods made a world of difference. Think fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish became my best friends. And it’s best to steer clear of excessive sugar and processed foods they’re like the mean girls of the food world, causing all sorts of drama.
Exercise is another game-changer Regular physical activity helps regulate hormones and reduce stress Find a routine that includes both energizing and calming activities. Cardio and strength training can boost your energy and metabolism, while yoga or tai chi can help you relax and reconnect with yourself. Just remember, it’s all about balance. Overdoing it can actually increase stress hormones and make things worse.
Stress management is key High stress levels can lead to an overproduction of cortisol, which can throw other hormones out of whack Incorporate mindfulness practices into your day. Meditation, deep breathing exercises, or even just a few moments of stillness can help center your mind and reduce stress. Trust me, your hormones will thank you.
Sleep is your secret weapon. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Create a calming bedtime routine to help signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. Avoid screens before bed and opt for activities like reading or taking a warm bath. Quality sleep is essential for hormone regulation and overall well-being
Sometimes, herbal supplements can offer additional support. Herbs like ashwagandha, maca root, and evening primrose oil are known for their hormone-balancing properties. However, always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplements to ensure they’re right for you. You don’t want to add more chaos to the mix.
Finally, don’t underestimate the power of spiritual practices Connecting with your inner self through meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature can promote a sense of peace and fulfillment Building a supportive community or finding a spiritual group that resonates with you can also provide a sense of belonging and enhance your spiritual well-being.
Remember, finding balance is an ongoing journey. It’s about listening to your body, mind, and spirit and making small, sustainable changes that support your overall health. By focusing on a holistic approach that includes diet, exercise, stress management, sleep, and spiritual practices, you can bring your hormones back into balance and achieve a state of harmony. Embrace the journey with kindness and compassion for yourself, and trust that with each step, you are moving towards a more balanced, vibrant, and fulfilling life. And hey, if you can handle those rogue chin hairs, you can handle anything!
October Reading with Energi Empress Priya
Card: Flow
The message from The COLE (The Council of Light and Energy) for the month of October is to encourage you to allow yourself to go with the flow. They observe many of you thinking you can “make it happen” . While they acknowledge that you are the creator of your reality, you are still apart of Universal energies and in creation with the creator
For some of you the message is to go with the flow but also to take action. They give the analogy of rowing in a boat. Yes, you should go with the flow of the current, but you still need to maneuver the oars to create movement and some direction.
For some of you, the message is to go with the flow as the New Moon and Eclipse energies taking place on October 2, move you energetically You may be led in directions or towards people or situations that don’t necessarily make sense to you. Lean into your faith to allow you to trust in the process.
The COLE encourage you to receive what flows towards you If you feel it is not a match, use that experience to create clarity for yourself and align yourself to that new information and energy. They also wish to remind you that energy flows where attention goes
