Dear Readers,

Happy November 1st. This month we are looking at the idea of memories and the past. Memory is an essential function of the human brain, crucial to shaping who we are, how we interact with the world, and how we adapt to future experiences. Memory isn’t just the capacity to recall past events; it’s the foundation of our personal identity, our social connections, and our ability to navigate life’s challenges. Here’s an exploration of the importance of memory, from its role in individual development to its significance in society and culture.

Additionally, our emotional connection can also affect the way we move through life. My feelings around the way I was shown conflict resolution or emotional regulation can influence the way I choose to go about those things now. Every single aspect of my past has impacted the person I am today and that person will continue to evolve based on the memories I make in the future. Everything from my style choices, to the friends I keep around, to the interactions I have with strangers on the street will all be determining factors in the way I conduct myself and the way I view the world.

We hope this issue helps you reflect on your memories and past and on how they have impacted you as a person today.

How to Transform Your Past to Peace

Overcoming the burdens of the past is a journey that involves the harmonious healing of the mind, body, and spirit This path, though challenging, invites a profound transformation that can enrich every aspect of our lives Understanding the intricacies of how these components interact is key to moving forward

The mind is an extraordinary yet complex organ, responsible for storing and processing memories When we experience an event, our brain encodes it into memory, distributing the details across various areas of the brain The hippocampus plays a crucial role in forming new memories and connecting them with emotions, processed by the amygdala

Sometimes, particularly with significant or traumatic events, these memories become deeply ingrained in the subconscious The subconscious mind acts as a vast storage area, influencing our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours This is why certain triggers can make us feel as though we are reliving past experiences Known as "emotional memory," this process evokes strong physical and emotional reactions

Neural pathways are activated every time we recall a memory, and emotionally charged memories create particularly robust connections If these are not processed or resolved, they can lead to maladaptive patterns

Mindfulness and cognitive behavioural strategies help reframe these memories, creating new pathways and weakening the hold of the old ones This empowers us to address how past events influence us, leading to healthier present interactions

Our bodies also physically store memories, especially when it comes to stress and trauma, through a process known as "somatic memory." This involves the nervous system and various bodily tissues that can hold onto emotional pain and stress, manifesting as muscle tension, pain, or other symptoms

The body’s response to stress involves the release of adrenaline and cortisol, which, if not managed, can lead to chronic tension Engaging in regular physical activity releases endorphins, natural chemicals in the brain that act as painkillers and mood elevators.

Exercise helps dissipate these built up stress hormones, promoting relaxation and mental clarity. Nutrition is equally important; a balanced diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and other nutrients supports brain health and emotional resilience.

The spirit, our core essence, seeks meaning and connection, transcending both the present and past lives we may have experienced Many spiritual philosophies suggest that events and experiences from past lives can imprint on our current existence, influencing our behaviours, fears, and relationships.

This concept posits that unresolved issues from previous incarnations might manifest as inexplicable fears or emotional blockages in this life. Engaging in spiritual practices such as meditation, regression therapy, or connecting with nature can help uncover and heal these past life influences, offering insights and relief

Additionally, creative expression, like art or music, provides a channel for processing emotions tied to both current and past life experiences Building a supportive community fosters a sense of belonging and shared understanding, which is essential for spiritual growth and emotional healing.

By integrating these scientific and spiritual approaches to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, we create a comprehensive strategy for overcoming the past.

BACK TO THE PAST

Past life regression offers an intriguing dive into the depths of your subconscious to uncover memories from previous lifetimes. The practice is rooted in the belief that our souls have journeyed through multiple lives, each leaving its mark on our present experiences. Each month I follow the guidance of The COLE (The Council of Light and Energy) to choose the card deck from which the monthly message comes from. It is so synchronous that they left me to the past life deck, considering the theme of our magazine this month is to do with the past and with memories.

The male-female card from the Past Life deck, indicates that you may have embodied a different gender in another lifetime, a gender different to the one you currently hold.

The message for some of you is that you may not feel aligned with the physical gender that you embody, or you may not feel as though you belong to any gender. This can cause you to feel misaligned with yourself and others. The COLE is gaining you to have compassion for yourself and trust that your soul knows how to lead you.

For some of you, the message is that there is an imbalance in your masculine and feminine energy. In an ideal situation we would be balanced 50-50 in our masculine and feminine energies. The COLE senses that you are operating too heavily in one energy and not heavily enough in the other. You are encouraged to take time to learn the traits of masculine and feminine energy to discern where you may benefit from making changes.

For some of you, the message is that you were operating in either a toxic, masculine or feminine energy or from a wounded masculine or feminine energy, resulting in disharmony with yourself as well as your relationships. You’re guided to seek assistance in healing these imbalances.

The COLE has observed that there is an imbalance in the overall universal energies. Many people are operating from masculine energy, which is creating a number of the circumstances and situations that we see in our world today. By balancing your own energy you can contribute to balancing the universal energies.
