Gentle Spring Cleansing with Ayurveda By Lisa Brenner The changing of the seasons is a wondrous time, bringing a much needed shift in energy. If you live in an area where winter is quite pronounced, the sight of snow melting, buds forming on trees, and flowers starting to bloom are all exciting signs that nicer weather is just around the corner! Spring often brings cool weather, a lot of moisture, and pollen and dust; all things that can strain our immune system. This is a great time to do some gentle cleansing practices to help support us through this temperamental shift in energies. Late winter and early spring is Kapha season. Kapha, derived from the elements of water and earth, can be described as heavy, slow, cold, soft, and sticky. The best way to combat this energy is to bring warmth and movement into our days, and to consume foods that are lighter in nature. Ayurveda provides us with some simple, easy-to-do techniques that can help align us with the cycles of nature, shedding any impurities that may have built up from the previous season. If you’re ready to let go of the sluggishness of winter, here are some practices to get you started on your cleansing journey.

Diet We often tend to eat things that are not so great for us, especially during the winter months. Try to reduce or eliminate heavy foods that accumulate in the body, such as fried foods, dairy, sugar, alcohol, saturated fats, and soda. Instead, focus on including more bitter foods into your diet like kale, collard greens, brussels sprouts, dandelion greens, dill, zucchini, and eggplant. Eat steamed vegetables, drink broth, and use spices like coriander, fennel, turmeric, cumin, and fresh mint. Sip on hot water or herbal tea throughout the day. Try nettle, dandelion, fennel, mint, or ginger.

Walking Meditation Going for a walk twice a day is a great way to integrate more mindful movement into your days. Start off with a slow pace so that you are able to maintain proper breathing through the nose without becoming short of breath. It is ideal to walk in nature, taking time to soak in the energy from the trees, to listen to birds sing, and to feel the sun and breeze on your skin.

Yoga Incorporating a yoga sequence into your mornings is another great way to get moving and to set the tone for the day. Try doing Sun Salutations, Surya Namaskar, to build up some heat in the body and to get your energy flowing. See the diagram for pictures of each pose with a brief description. If you are new to the practice start with a couple of rounds and keep increasing rounds as you improve your stamina.

Massage Another wonderful practice is self-massage. At this time of year it is best to do a technique called dry brushing. This can be done with raw silk gloves called Garshana Gloves, with a soft sponge, or a dry brush, all of which will gently exfoliate the skin, reduce cellulite, and eliminate toxins from the body by stimulating your lymphatic system. Massage with long sweeping strokes on the arms and legs, and circular movements on the stomach and joints (shoulders, elbows, knees, wrists, hips, and ankles), avoiding the face, chest, and heart, directing each stroke upwards towards the heart. Start at the feet, moving up the legs, onto the belly, back and neck, finishing from hands to shoulders. Complete the massage with a warm shower. To help stimulate blood circulation and further invigorate the skin, end your shower with a few cycles of hot then cold water.

Neti pot With the increase in pollen and dust comes seasonal allergies. Using a neti pot can help reduce inflammation and remove excess mucus from the nasal passages. A neti pot resembles a small teapot and is available at many health food stores or can be readily found online. To make the neti pot solution, mix 3 teaspoons of salt (Himalayan, kosher, pickling) with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and store in a sterile airtight container. To use, combine 1 teaspoon of the mixture with 8 ounces of lukewarm water (distilled, sterile, or previously boiled then cooled). Steps to using your neti pot Step 1 - Add the saline solution to a clean, dry neti pot. Bend over a sink looking straight down. Turn your head to a 45 degree angle. Gently press the spout of the neti pot into the nostril closest to the ceiling. Make sure you have a seal between the neti pot and your nostril. Step 2 - Breathing through your mouth, tip the neti pot so the saline solution reaches your nostril. Keep the neti pot tipped while the solution runs through your nostril and leaves through your other nostril. Step 3 - Continue to pour the solution into your nostril until the neti pot is empty. Once you’ve used all of the solution, remove the neti pot from your nostril and bring your head up. Breathe through both nostrils to clear out your nose. Use a tissue to absorb remaining saline and mucus. Step 4 - Repeat the steps above to use the neti pot on your other nostril. Step 5 - Rub a few drops of oil (pure sesame, sunflower, olive) to the inside of each nostril to help moisturize the nasal passages.

Foot care Do you show your feet love and attention? They are the hardest working, yet one of the least appreciated parts of our bodies. Try this simple ritual to give your feet some much needed care. Start with a foot bath. This is a wonderful way to relax, warm up the body, and to prepare for sleep. You can use a basin filled with warm water or use a bathtub filled with enough water to cover the feet only. Add 1/2 cup of epsom salts to the water and soak the feet for 10-15 minutes. After soaking, apply a small amount of body scrub (you can make your own by mixing 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup epsom salts, 1/4 cup oil - olive, sesame or coconut, and add a few drops of essential oils like peppermint or lavender) to the palms of the hands and rub the lower legs, ankles, and the tops and soles of the feet. Rinse and pat dry. Next, massage the feet using firm pressure. Don’t forget in between the toes! When finished, use oil to moisturize and massage the feet. This will help to protect against cracking, peeling, and aging. Put on a pair of socks to allow the oil to fully penetrate the feet and turn in for the night.

As spring is the season of regeneration, rejuvenation, and rebirth, let’s harness this incoming energy! Incorporating the above practices is a great way to gently ease into the cleansing process. This is also a great time to reflect on other areas of our lives that may need some ‘cleaning up’; our households, finances, friendships, relationships, emotions, beliefs, etc. Sitting quietly in meditation or journaling are both wonderful ways to bring more mindfulness into our everyday lives. Remember that the simplest practices can often have the most profound effect.

A BASIS FOR MEDITATION BY: PREMADASA GANGADEEN

The practice of meditation cultivates attention directed toward the mind for deeper concentration and focus with greater ease. As an earnest practice of meditation deepens, one is able to access deeper inquiry of the self beyond their physical and mental limitations. This experience, once established, becomes the root for greater exploration toward higher awareness. A true meditation or yoga practice is synonymous with a kriya - a cleansing or purification technique. A kriya is also a reference to an action performed with awareness. There are numerous kriyas which one can practice for the higher good of body, breath, mental, intellectual, and spiritual awareness. Meditation as a kriya becomes a gateway to higher consciousness due to its purifying effect on the mind. It is ever-present and available to all freely who are without attachment to any desired result. How does meditation cleanse the mind? Why would we want to cleanse the mind? What happens to the mind after this so-called cleansing? These are some continual questions which come up for me and they are also questions which I’m often asked when leading classes and workshops.

As my practice deepens, the answer changes accordingly. Right now I’m able to say that I’ve experienced a fantastic flurry of thoughts, emotions, and flashbacks throughout this period of Covid, and being a sensitive person, I’ve picked up on the energy of others as they process the same. Meditation allows me to sort and clear this energy for a cleaner and therefore more receptive and responsive mind rather than a reactive one. Although it may be helpful to seek instruction or initiation into a school or lineage of meditation, it is not necessary by any means. One would have to justifiably qualify the teacher/lineage as being authentic before surrendering their naïveté and vulnerability at the feet of a teacher to guide them through this potentially sensitive process and matter. Regardless, we use meditation practice to re-orient ourselves with greater clarity on how we may rise to our life’s calling today to support our community tomorrow. Here is an outline for a successful journey via mediation. My hope is that it brings you greater insight, clarity, and acceptance of yourself while whetting the appetite for deeper exploration into the self.

1) Perform some form of physical exercise whether it is Yoga, Tai Chi, light cardio, or any movement-based activity for approximately 30-60 minutes. The key here is to elevate the heart rate and bring some warmth and circulation to the body while building physical stamina and balance. Try not to push too far into exhaustion. 2) Take a quick and warm shower followed by putting on clean and comfortable clothes. 3) Have a space already prepared in your home conducive to meditation and breath work which allows for fresh air, control of lighting and temperature, solitude, and that is relatively quiet. 4) Decide how long you’d like to meditate for and have a timer ready to set - try 20 minutes to start. What’s important here is consistency. Manage any distractions pertaining to light, heat, and sound accordingly. Work up to a twice-daily practice preferably at the same time. 5) Start the timer and take a comfortable seat either on a cushion on the floor or sit on the edge of a chair with feet firmly planted on the ground. Sit straight with eyelids closed. Place hands in a mudra of your choice, or in your lap with one hand on top of the other with both palms facing upward, touching the thumb tips together lightly (try alternating hands), or interlace the fingers with thumb tips touching. 6) Notice the quality of the incoming and outgoing breath - how does it sound and feel? Does it flow smoothly? How long does it take to inhale and exhale? Simply witness the breathing process without judgement. 7) Equally balance the timing of your inhalations and exhalations while remaining relaxed. Establish anywhere between 5-9 seconds per inhalation and exhalation and maintain that pattern with ease. 8) Bring in the usage of any mantra mentally or out loud, such as ‘AUM’ to accompany the duration of the incoming and outgoing breath. You can also use ‘SO’ on the inhalation and then ‘HAM’ (as in hum) for the exhalation. Establish and maintain a pattern.

9) Concentrate and remain focused at the forehead centre, located at the bridge of the nose between the two eyebrows, as the breath flows continually. Maintain the mantra. Perhaps visualize a flame fixed and steady at this point or a healing white light flowing in and out of the body via this point. 10) Once the timer has expired, gently return your awareness to the room by chanting a gentle AUM one or three times. Rub the palms together lightly to create a little heat and then gently cup the eye sockets to allow the heat from the palms to transfer to the eyes. Slowly open the eyelids and draw a gentle smile before softly pressing the palms together in a prayer at the centre of the chest. It may be helpful to have an exclusive meditation journal close by to note anything which came up during the meditation shortly after the practice has ended. We can learn a lot about ourselves through this practice of journaling, taking us into deeper follow-up meditations. One common experience is that many thoughts may arise, creating either a distraction or a deterrent. Do not let this hinder your progress! Thoughts are ok as they offer insight into where the mind was being focused. As soon as you notice a thought, come back to the breath and/or the mantra. In time the distractions will become minimal. Observe the experience of meditation like being alone in a movie theatre watching your life play out on a screen. Simply witness each event as it is without getting caught up in the judgement of the previous or subsequent scene. With time and dedication, meditation will become easier and therefore offer greater peace and joy to you and your surrounding space.

GRAND AWAKENING By: Chris Lee

I parked and hurried into the community centre in Detroit. I rushed into the building passing a grey haired man with a walker, moving painfully slow. I felt bad for walking ahead of him, but I was late for my event. I was going to a networking event. I was a few months removed from an accident where I had sustained a traumatic brain injury. I was dealing with a lot of cognitive and mental health issues from the injury. After the networking event I wandered around the community centre. I saw the old man that I had passed when I was rushing into the building. He was now carrying his walker. I thought this was odd but I wrote it off. Maybe he was the “plant” in some sort of scam. I wandered into a room and I was greeted by a tall man in a turban with the healthiest face I’d ever seen - no wrinkles, no bags under his eyes, and smooth skin. He did a demonstration of something he called “energy healing.” Since the accident I had been in a constant state of anxiety and had

experienced a slew of demoralizing emotional and mental health issues. I was willing to try literally anything to gain some relief. It seemed a little weird, but as he tapped on the crown of my head and my heart I began to feel less and less anxiety. I was amazed! He told me about the man I saw carrying his walker. After one energy healing session, he got relief from his nervous condition that was causing him to use a walker or a cane. The tall man in the turban explained that at least 80% of all illness is caused by trapped emotions. When the emotion is cleared it restores energy flow to the body and healing takes place. This was a new revelation to me. I was fascinated and ecstatic to find relief that was not provided by the 14 different medications I was on at the time. Inspired by what I had learned, I spent the next few years studying everything I could about energy healing, the Law of Attraction, and the esoteric arts. I was eternally grateful that I was feeling better and I also was feeling a very strong connection with The Divine. However, it wasn't all bumble bees, flowers, and butterflies. I had a very religious upbringing and my newfound skill set, along with increased intuitiveness created conflict for me. My belief system, at that time, was that the ability to “heal” people’s malady with invisible energy and intent was spiritism, a work of the devil. The people that were close to me noticed the vast improvements in me. I’d tell them about how energy healing had transformed my life and they’d always redirect and uncomfortably ask questions like “.....okay...uhhh...what about vitamins? Did you take any vitamins?” they would ask, not wanting to breach the subject of this “weird new-age magic.” Some of my friends even called me a witch doctor. I eventually learned to embrace all of it.

I could write an entire book about the journey from wondering if I had angered God to being fully comfortable in my abilities. All in all, I wouldn’t change a thing. One of the most important things that I’ve come to learn is that the only limits on what we can accomplish are the limits that we place on ourselves. I have done energy work (as many practitioners do) on people on another continent, cleared several generations worth of “stuck” energy, and received messages from the afterlife. Those of us that embrace our gifts become conduits of physical and emotional healing. We deliver messages of empowering confirmation. It is inherently human that there will be those that will bastardize, monetize, and stake claim to what is not possessable. It is my hope, as non-traditional spiritual teachings gain mainstream popularity, that the pure intent is preserved.

While it is true that our bodies have a natural ability to cleanse itself, there are several factors when considering if you may benefit from some sort of physical detox. The first that most have likely heard of are the e f f e c t s o f t h e e n v i r o n m e n t w h ic h most of us live in, with pollutants and potential toxins found pretty much everywhere; our air, food, and even water, to name a few. With the daily and constant exposure to these effects, it is a wise idea to periodically engage in some sort of detoxification to help keep your body in balance a n d e n h a n c e i t s n a t u r a l c l e a n s in g process. It’s also important to remember that over the years and decades, we have been increasingly exposed to more c h e m i c a l s a n d p o t e n t i a l t o x i c it ie s that humans were once not f a c i n g . W h i l e o u r b o d i e s a r e q u it e impressive at adapting to our environment, it may not be ideal to go months and years without aiding it in some way. Just the way we give our home a deep clean or “Spring cleaning,” we can do the same for our body. The other possibility to consider is that some factors such as major/consistent stress and other health challenges can have a large impact on the body’s natural cleansing system. This oftentimes r e q u i r e s o u t s i d e s o u r c e s t o h e lp maintain balance and harmony within.

Water One often underrated and overlooked substance for d e t o x i n g i s w a t e r . T h i s i s a c t u a lly another one I had in question; why aren’t people speaking more about the detox effects of water? They’re amazing! Drinking plenty o f g o o d q u a l i t y w a t e r ( e m p h a s is on good quality) may seem like such a simple thing, yet plays a very important part in the optimal functioning of our body. Staying well hydrated is so important for detoxification, as water transports waste products, efficiently removing them through urination, breathing, or sweating. When considering the process of detoxing, I found that focusing on physical detoxing was a lot “easier,” as I didn’t have to face any deeper, emotional challenges and disharmonies within me. However, I have often found the need to also flush out mental and emotional stresses and even discovered them to be the root cause of nearly all my disharmonies and problems. So as challenging as it was at times to address, this has been my number one.

Here are some suggestions of what I have found to be of great help for cleansing the mind and spirit:

Meditation Affirmations Meditation music of specific hzs (528, 432, 417, etc.) Writing/journaling Subliminal affirmation meditations Burning incense Being outside in nature Using and working with crystals Working with a healer for guidance and assistance

Monthly Movement Brain Buttons

By: Tanya Mouland

Brain Buttons is a gentle and easy-to-do exercise that brings awareness back to the centre of the body and the vertical midline. Great to relax the eyes after a lot of screen time. How to do Brain Buttons: 1. Standing comfortably, feet hip width apart and weight distributed equally on both feet. 2. Place one hand on the navel. 3. Form a “u” with thumb and first (or middle) finger. Place thumb and finger on either side of the sternum BENEATH the collar bones. There are slight indentations where the fingertips fit comfortably. (This is the K27 point.) 4. Massage these points gently as you take three or four deep breaths. 5. Switch hands and repeat. Eye tracking left and right horizontally two or three times can be added at any time. Variations: 1. Can be done standing, sitting, or lying down. 2. If there is any discomfort with the hand placement, rest hand gently across the top of the sternum at the collarbones. 3. If points are sensitive, simply hold them softly. Important: for individuals who are prone to seizures, only stimulate one side at a time. Benefits: Left-right body balance Improves posture Deeper breathing Relaxes neck and shoulders muscles Eye tracking benefits: Ease of eye movements across the midline and releases visual tension Improves eye teaming Enhances visual tracking for reading

Clearing the Kitchen The Heart of the Home By: Anja Lavigne

Bright, Airy, Sparkling Clean - Prosperity and abundance plays an important part in this room. The kitchen has been called the "heart of the home," and with good reason. Here we are nourished and provided for, even if we are dining on a frozen entrée zapped in the microwave. How mindful are you when prepping, cooking and eating the nourishing food? An untidy and disorganized kitchen makes it hard to nourish yourself and others on both physical and metaphysical levels. How you care for your kitchen is a clue about whether you are giving proper attention to your own nourishment and sources of abundance. Cleaning up and decluttering your kitchen opens up space for you to receive the support and the comfort that you need in life. Simplicity and functionality allow for ease in this busy hub of your home. Having a bright space offers clarity and good reason to come in and whip up your favourite recipe. There are many zones when it comes to the kitchen. Consider how each one makes you feel and how it impacts your energy and mindset.

The Counter Take stock of what is visible. It is important to keep your counter clear and avoid filling it with every mini appliance or product. Having them stored away in a cupboard or pantry creates simplicity to the eye and more focus. Feeling that there is not enough space can be stressful and overwhelming when cooking or baking. Keeping counter space clear allows you to focus on the task at hand. Too many items can over-stimulate our minds and is very difficult to think, process and achieve without distraction.

The Fridge The fridge is like a closet. It can get so cramped with food that we can forget what we have, things can go bad and be overstocked. This is one of the least attractive areas to clean; it often feels like an overwhelming chore. Set a timer for 20 minutes and begin clearing and wiping down. By doing this weekly, you will feel and see the change in the weeks ahead. Before you bring in new fresh food, go through and remove all science projects, wilted veggies, etc. This also allows you to see what you already have so there are no duplicates when shopping. Underneath the Sink Keep this space simple, organized and clean. If the faucet is leaking, be sure to fix it. This can be a sign of losing wealth and may be a contributor to a higher water bill than necessary. Place a caddy for cleaning products or a lazy Susan for easy access. This might not be the best place for the garbage as it creates congestion under the sinks and can make it difficult to clean. A free standing one could be placed instead.

the fridge opening and closing, water running, etc. Interestingly, it is also one of the major rooms to have an argument or a breakdown in. A Kitchen that is messy and cluttered: Makes it difficult to relax and enjoy eating your food. Signals to our brains that the work is never done. Distracts us by drawing our attention away from what our focus should be on. Bombards our minds with excessive stimuli, which causes our senses to work overtime.

Cupboards and Pantry The purpose of this valued real estate is to be able to see and reach what you need. What is in your cupboard/pantry that you haven’t used? Pantries are always so great to have, yet they are another space that we like to store years of unused kitchen items that we don’t need. This could include small appliances, extra baking pans, expired canned goods and old cook books. These “just in case items” hold a frequency of uncertainty and distrust. They are in the “someday/one day” future category, telling the Universe you are feeling insecure and vulnerable about your future. Be consistent, even creative with your containers. Using uniform containers look better and are easier on the eyes. Trying to do it on a budget? Start collecting glass jars and containers from your pasta sauces and other food products to reuse later. Have clear, appealing labels, or if you have nice penmanship, get a permanent marker and label away. Add the expiry date at the back of the container or on the bottom. If there are any instructions, cut them out, place in a box and put them on the shelf. Buy only what you can store neatly and use. A lot of energy is contained in this hub central, filled with many activities such as eating, entertaining, homework and family meetings. It is a firecracker of a room with lots of energies passing in and out, in addition to the fire element of the stove,

Ways to incorporate health, luxury and happiness to your kitchen: Have some fresh fruits on display, such as lemons, limes or oranges. Place a potted plant/herbs near the window. Be mindful as you’re cooking. Cook with a happy and uplifted mindset as opposed to rushing or feeling resentful, as our emotions can be transmitted through our food. If cooking is not your thing, it’s okay to brainstorm how to make the task more enjoyable and quicker. It is very important to have enough time to sit and digest your food, as well as meal plan according to your time frame and what you are planning on making. Get rid of any tattered or soiled tea towels. Ensure your lightbulbs are nice and bright; good lightening is key. Ensure all appliances are in good working order. Cleanliness and order are #1 in achieving the feeling of luxury and honouring your wealth. No matter the size of the kitchen, a homey, bright, cheery space nourishes the body and the souls of those that share the meals and their stories.

Test It Out Kangen Water Filter By: Andrea Sipcic

When it comes to staying healthy, we constantly hear of the importance of drinking lots of water, with plenty of details on how to drink more of it, when to drink it, how much to drink, and even the options of bottles to drink it from. However, sometimes we forget to think about the kind of water we are drinking. This is what I have found to be most important of all, which is why I went from drinking water in plastic bottles and standard filters to Kangen water.

Kangen water is alkaline water produced by a Japanese company called Enagic, in which they use an alkaline ionizer and water filtration machines which are hooked to your kitchen sink faucet. Their main target is to return and maintain the body to its original, balanced, alkaline state. Kangen even means “return to state” in Japanese. Their water-ionization systems are actually intended to be used to benefit health, beauty, sanitation, and cuisine. They have even been used in hospitals throughout Japan for years. There are generally five types of Kangen water within the one machine, all for different uses, where you are able to easily select the one you need and it can even direct you in several different languages. Ph 11-11.5 (Strong Alkaline water): Cleaning (including food cleansing), food preparation, migraines, make up remover, allergies, cold symptoms, heartburn, food poisoning, etc. Ph 8.5-9.5: Drinking, food preparation, coffee and tea, soups and stews, plant care Ph 7 (Neutral) clean water: Preparing baby food, taking medication Ph 4.5-6 (Beauty water): Face wash and toner, hair care, pet care, polishing, light cleaning, preserving frozen food, etc. Ph 2.5 (Strong acidic water): Disinfecting (anything), cleaning, mouth wash, deodorant, on open wounds, burns, infections, stop bleeding, etc.

The Differences When I was first introduced to Kangen water and learned of some of the benefits, I knew I had to have it. I noticed right away the difference in taste, especially from water in plastic bottles and from the tap. I noticed a smoother, cleaner, softer consistency. I no longer can drink water from plastic bottles, deeming myself a “water snob.” The benefits and potential from drinking the water feel endless; releasing toxic and acidic wastes, feeling better and more energized, improved vision, weight loss, grey hair returning to its original colour, more regular bowel movements, decrease in spider veins, etc. I have loved using Beauty Water in lieu of and in addition to toners and some other store bought face and hair products. I have found that my hair and skin have stayed more hydrated. Many store bought face and beauty products contain so many ingredients that I always found were unnecessary and often either dried out my skin or didn’t really benefit me in any way. With Beauty water I noticed an initial detoxing of my skin, where excess sebum would secrete, and then later noticed my skin and hair improving their state with time and consistent use. Similarly with cleaning products, I have found 2.5 and 11.5 to do a great job cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, and now find many of the store bought products, their excess ingredients, and overly powerful, chemical scents to be unnecessary. Using 11.5 to cleanse meat has made quite a difference also. Once soaked in this water for at least 5-10 minutes (I usually do 25 or more), the muck that is present is quite remarkable. Soaking also tenderizes the meat very nicely and makes a big difference. Maintenance The Kangen machine is self cleansing, which is a nice feature. In addition, it is important to do a monthly cleanse at home, which is very simple. Once you initiate it, you leave the machine to do the work on its own for 2-3 hours. Then once a year it is highly recommended to do a deep clean of the device, taking it into one of the Kangen stores and letting them take care of it for you until it’s ready to be picked up. It is important to keep up with the regular cleaning to avoid build up inside the machine, especially of calcium. Truly believing that water is the most important and pure substance we can put in and on our bodies, I could not recommend the Kangen machine more. It is now the only water my family and I consume and we buy a lot less products than we used to, including bottled water and store water filters. This has by far been one of the greatest investments in my health and I am so happy I did it.

Detox Your Mind By: Priya A,li

Do you have a dirty mind? Much like our bodies, our minds can greatly benefit from detoxification. We are bombarded daily with so much coming at us to sift through and process. Imagine just how much your mind receives from two minutes of scrolling through Instagram or Tik Tok. We are receiving so many messages, so rapidly, sometimes we don’t even realize that we are not sifting and processing, but rather receiving and storing all these messages. We are constantly under the influence of influencers and as such it can create difficulties hearing our own thoughts. Another way that our minds can be toxic is from thinking the same thoughts over and over again. Often when we feel anxious about the future, depressed about the past, confused over which direction to choose or move forward, we rotate the same thoughts and scenarios over and over in our minds. This regurgitation can prevent or even paralyze you from making decisions, taking actions or even simple day to day functions. One way to help yourself detox your mind is to take a media break. Allow yourself a predetermined time to stay off social media, the news and other platforms. Use this time to get outside, read or listen to a book, get creative through art or with your hands. Limit the amount of “outside noise” from your mind. Consider NO NETFLIX, leave the tv and Spotify off, as well as limit conversation and texting. Give your mind a break to just embrace the quiet. You can choose a length of time to do this that works with your lifestyle. It may be challenging to turn off your spouse, kids or colleagues. The idea is to minimize how much extra noise you subscribe to for a set amount of time. As for your merry-go round of the thoughts, consider journaling or listmaking or any other tangible form of expressing and expelling your thoughts out of your head and onto or through another external medium. When we take the thoughts we continue to cycle and place them onto paper, not only do we break the cycle, but also allow ourselves to view them from another perspective which is much easier to do when they are not swirling and constantly moving around. From a physiological standpoint, getting adequate sleep, eating a balanced diet, engaging in movement, meditation and putting your cell phone away at least an hour before you go to sleep and leaving it untouched for at least 30 minutes once you awaken, can support you during this mind detox. Detoxing your mind is like cleaning a house; it may seem like a drag to do, but it always feels better and often times lighter when it’s done.

THE FULL SUPERMOON IN LIBRA By: Savita Moon Child

The full supermoon is here in the sign of Libra. (Supermoon meaning, the moon is remarkably close to the Earth and has a strong effect on the tides as well as on our emotional state.) The moon is about what we are feeling, and Libra is the sign that brings particular focus to our relationships with the people around us, with ourselves and with life. Finding balance is what this moon is calling us to do; however, this moon can feel unbalanced and indecisive, a typical Libran trait, one that we may have to face or deal with when it comes to the obvious problems in life. It might feel a little easier to sit on the fence or hide until our problems go away, but we can’t, and it won't. In terms of a romantic relationship, friendships and family dynamics, we will question ourselves whether they are working and if they feel unstable or out of balance in any of these areas. If we find that we are giving more than we are receiving, that will become more obvious.

The sun is in the opposing sign of Aries during this full moon, bringing us into the Spring Equinox, meaning lots of fiery energy culminating enthusiasm, courage, new beginnings and growth. We also have Venus in Aries and Chiron in Aries, highlighting again where we look at relationships with ourselves. With Chiron next to Venus and the sun, we will be called to work on healing those inner wounds in whichever Chakra our emotion may wish to express itself. There are often more emotions that need to be released at this full moon, so it is good to allow whatever is coming up in terms of our triggers or outdated beliefs we might have held onto. Notice which old relationships or past breakups may be causing us to repeat a similar pattern in our other relationships. Chiron can help us to take some time to process, heal and complete the old patterns and cycles. What did the relationship teach and how can we learn from this and move on? The energy of Aries is all about new beginnings, being the first astrological sign of the year. We are being asked what new adventures can we go on? Aries is about taking action and the moon in Libra is wanting us to connect with others, which can create a block. Although all full moons are a time of completion, this one makes it a perfect time to release what no longer serves us, healing wounds of separation and finding ways of coming together, ensuring a new astrological year can be different. Libra is about romance, love, balance and connection, and this full moon with Mercury and Neptune conjunct in Pisces supports us to get out of our heads and welcome whatever feelings that arise. This will give us the ability to know that they are there to heal us and to enable us to get more intimate and closer with others. There is a beautiful trine at this time of the full moon in Libra, where Mars ruler of Aries is in Gemini, and Saturn is in Aquarius. This is an extremely powerful time to conjure up new ideas and innovative ways to see our world. It is so important at this time to ask ourselves empowering questions like: What was coming up for you during the corresponding new moon? What did you experience? What were you going through? Have you moved forward from any of these things? Have you experienced any growth in this part of your life? We need to give ourselves permission to receive what comes in. The power of this Libra full moon helps us to find balance between pushing and surrendering, pulling and releasing, giving and receiving, trusting the Universe, and allowing it to all unfold just as it should. What do you need to take off your scales to lighten your emotional load? What can you add so that you come into your full blossom and potential in life? Allow the scales to find their balance. Libra affirmations 1. I relate harmoniously with everyone. 2. I attract loving and fulfilling relationships. 3. I trust my intuition to make decisions. 4. I reciprocate the energy I receive. 5. I am balanced and connected with the Universe.

THE INTUITIVE GODDESS PRIYA

April 2021 Reading Card: Realization

The frequency of Realization supports the internal process of becoming aware of our heart-centred truth, as well as the external process of becoming our highest expression in this world.” When I asked the Guides for guidance in line with our “detox” theme this month, they led me to the “Realization” card. Their message is that realization can contribute to detoxification. As we come into awareness of our internal and heart-centred truth, we also come into awareness of that which no longer serves us. Just as the body knows to filter and eliminate toxins from your body, with focus your mind and spirit can do the same. For some of you the message is an invitation to detox your beliefs, thoughts and most importantly, your selftalk. The Guides sense that the beliefs and thoughts you hold, as well as the words you use to address yourself, are toxic, and leading you to undesirable experiences. For some of you, the message is to encourage you to
