The Pelicans
The Aquatic Center is the home of the Pelicans Summer Swim Team and the Pelicans USA Club Swim Team. All teams provide a fun and safe environment for young swimmers. Tryouts are required for each group—see below for minimum qualifications. We also provide the opportunity for swimmers to get ready for the summer swim season with our Dive Certification and Stroke Clinic programs.
Pelicans Summer Swim Team
Registration Open: February 1
Minimum Tryout Requirement:
Must be able to complete a 25-yard swim demonstrating freestyle and backstroke skills without stopping. Summer Swim Season: May 1–June 29
May Practice Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings June Practice Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings Cost: $180
Pelicans USA Swim Team
Registration Open: June 7
Minimum Tryout Requirement:
Must be able to complete a 25-yard stretch demonstrating freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke skills without stopping.
Year-round club season:
August 9, 2022–April 27, 2023 Cost: Annual registration fee + monthly installments
Club team practice:
There are options for one- to threeday practices on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Options vary depending on the group.
USA Pelicans Long Course Swim Team
Registration Open: February 1 Minimum Tryout Requirement: Must be able to complete a 25-yard swim demonstrating front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly without stopping. Summer Swim Season: May 3–July 29 Practice Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday morning
Dive Certification Classes
Dive Certification classes will be held during the months of April and May. Please see our Facebook page (@CherokeeCountyAquatic) or our website (PlayCherokee.org) for class dates and times. Cost: $5 (ages 11 and up), $10: (ages 5–10)
Stroke and Turn Clinics
Stroke and Turn Clinics for swimmers will be held during the months of April and May. Please see our Facebook page (@CherokeeCountyAquatic) or our website (PlayCherokee.org) for clinic dates and times. Cost: $10 per class

SWIMMING LESSONS FOR ALL AGES
Cherokee County Aquatic Center swimming lessons emphasize water safety and skill development in a safe, fun environment. Group swim lessons and private lessons are offered.
Group Lessons: The American Red Cross and Water Safety program is offered at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center. The different courses seek to help participants of all ages and varying abilities develop familiarity with being in the water and learning basic skills for aquatic safety, survival, and recreational swimming while developing an awareness of how to stay safe in and around water.
Parent/Child: 6 months to 3 years of age Preschool: 3–5 years of age ARC Levels 1–5: 6–12 years of age Adult: over 12 years of age Private lessons are available for ages five and up. Request forms can be found on our website (PlayCherokee.org) or at the Aquatic Center front desk. Requests are filled on a first come-first served basis and are only scheduled once the group lesson schedule for the session has been determined.
PARENTS NIGHT OUT/ PARENTS AFTERNOON OUT
Drop the kids off at the pool so you can enjoy adult time! We will play in the pool, provide a pizza meal, make crafts, play games, and end the outing with a movie! The ratio of kids-to-counselors is 10 kids per counselor. Please send kids with a dry change of clothes or pajamas to change into after swimming. POOL PARTY PACKAGES
Come celebrate with us! Our Paradise Package accommodates up to 25 guests and includes 2½ hours of pool and pavilion time.
