CATWALK MODEL BECOMES BUSINESS GIRL - Thitirat Sophie Kim
My Model Career Begins Thitirat Sophie Kim, the name I’m known for in the entertainment industry. I’m a 22 year old young woman from Thailand and I’ve been working as a model in Korea for 1 year and 6 months. When I first started modeling, I participated in Miss Grand 2016. It was baby steps after I finished the “Miss Grand Competition”. Soon after, I went on to do some TV shows and volunteer work. As I continued my career in this industry, I began to feel as though the work didn’t suit me so, I decided to study abroad in New Zealand. I didn’t stay there for long. Shortly after, I received a recommendation to be a contestant in a beauty pageant in both Korea and Malaysia. After all of this I began working in Korea. There, I had the fortune of participating in the “Seoul Fashion Week” in 2017. For that reason, a lot of agencies heard about me and I began to get several modeling job offers. From cosmetics to accessories and clothing.

My Secret to Beautiful Many people ask me what’s the secret to my skin. I can tell you that I’ve had treatments from The LINE Beauty Clinic in Korea. This clinic helped me enormously and I’d like to personally thank Dr. Cho Jae Ho and Dr. Chung Yoo Suk, as well as their team and everyone there. It took me a while to get used to the lifestyle in South Korea. The people are smart, hardworking and fashionable. There were many cultural differences as well. Living here taught me how to constantly improve myself by observing and adapting. My friends in Korea also helped and taught me a lot. My Gift of Fashion Emerges – Business Owner Because I saw the trend in the Korean fashion style, I decided to enter the fashion world. I started a business with a shoe line, “Fabric Kim - Fluffy Collection”. Business was a lot harder than I thought it would be and after a month, I still had no customers! One time I nearly gave up. After talking to a lot of people who

gave me very good advice, I learned that starting a business wasn’t easy and if I wanted to succeed, I needed to continue to learn and grow. When sales were down, it was a difficult time for me but, even after failing, I continued to persevere and now my business is slowly improving and picking up. I believe that my courage and perseverance will make my company great, successful and profitable in the future. I hope my story motivates others to never give up and quit on their dreams so easily. Learn from other successful people, learn from your own failures and most important, persevere. Be courageous and go for it! IMAGE MATTERS
Image matters because 80% of what we communicate about ourselves is done non-verbally. Developing a professional personal brand is vital to attracting new opportunities and showing up as the best version of yourself.
In many other industries there is no image standard. This freedom has resulted in professionals blurring the lines by wearing weekend wear, glamorous makeup, no makeup, nightclub attire, and casual clothes suited for being at home. These examples
Over 30 years ago, I started my Image Consulting business in Los Angeles to style celebrities, models, politicians and corporate executives. As a Hollywood Trained Image Consultant I witnessed how actors and actresses delivered a much better quality of work that was believable when they were in the makeup and wardrobe of their character. I have also witnessed this with business professionals. In the 80’s and 90’s corporate executives were guided into navy suits with white collared shirts or blouses accented with a conservative tie or pearls. Grooming was clean shaven with a short gelled look for men or a bob hairstyle with a red lip for women. It was very “cookie cutter” This provided a business uniform that is still the protocol in some industries.

ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST WORK
Always do your best work. It sounds obvious and simple, right? It may be simple, but it sure isn’t always that easy. We tend to complicate things; make excuses, take short cuts, get it done as fast as we can. Is that our best work? What does do your best mean to you? Does it make you feel that you need to create perfection, or meet high expectations, or strive for achievement? I completely get that. I used to think that way too. Doing our best isn’t about perfection, success or failure. Perfection doesn’t exist. It’s a mindset that can get in the way and rob us of any joy or fulfillment that we should be taking from a project or experience. According to writer, David Erichsen, “Doing your best is synonymous with living out each and every moment to its fullest potential. And this potential exists in every situation you encounter in your life. Doing your best is simply about taking pride in knowing that you gave it your all while putting all of your energy and resources into your project.” I wholeheartedly agree. I also know it isn’t always easy and we are often tempted to take short-cuts as well as worry about failing, or what people will think about us.
9 ENTREPRENEUR PLATFORM MAGAZINE
Doing our best work occurs when we are focused and absolutely in the process without worrying about the product. It’s a practice of consistent, hard work that eventually can become a habit. It has everything to do with a desire to be original with our work and to go the extra mile to stand out. My son has always had an incredibly strong work ethic in the photography and videography field and he once jokingly told me that he was like a Ninja and that his equipment was like his battle sword and he needed to keep it in tip top shape to do his best work. He definitely brings intensity to what he does. He prides himself in thinking outside of the box and constantly asks, “How can I do it different, or better?” He also feels that it is extremely important to face your weaknesses so that you can strive to strengthen them, definitely good advice. He also shared that what ultimately motivates him is the internal achievement; pride in doing a unique job and the creativity it takes to produce it.
A LWAY S D O YOU R B E S T WOR K - G. BRIAN BENSON
Whatever you do, make it your best work. It will train you to be the best version of yourself and will help you develop habits that will serve you throughout your life. And when you do, it will show others that you care, have impeccable integrity, are reliable, and produce quality; not to mention it will help you build trust with others, and, just as importantly, with yourself. Doing your best work usually also leads to other opportunities that challenge you and help you grow even more than you can imagine. I’ve learned that doing my best work helps me learn how to do things the right way, and to honor that there’s often more than one right way. This was an important lesson for me. Ultimately, by doing your very best work, you will develop confidence and a sense of pride in what you do which will guide you to even greater success both internally and externally.

WORD TO THE MOTHER
Today, Melissa Hull seems to occupy the apex most entrepreneur’s strive to reach. On the day we met, our conversation was squeezed in between her last speaking engagement and the need to hurriedly pack for another flight to some far away land where she’d repeat her unfortunate story that has turned into fortune; serendipity, treasure, destiny. Having enjoyed a career as an accomplished artist, professional writer, and international speaker, add to that: the television show she hosts, television network she founded, and the business of bringing others’ stories to the light of day. At the pinnacle of success, her profile is impressive and her resume reads like the kind you embellish to land that dream job. Another day ended like a nightmare. There were no books in her library to inform her next moves. How could she ever move forward? She had taken no class to prepare her, heard no alarm to warn her, seen not one sign that such a normal afternoon could destroy countless others. Viewing his tiny frame, selecting appropriate attire, choosing a box for burying the boy who brought her such joy were torturous tasks. No mother should have to do it, but for Drew’s mom, Melissa, this assumed end marked the beginning of another life. Before finding purpose in pain, Melissa suffered long and hard. Nights and days conflated, as she struggled to find reason to rise with morning. With part of her heart away, she found it nearly impossible to be present for her other small son or attentive to the husband who, too, was sparring with his new reality. But none of it seemed real, so how could she make sense of the accident she could see cracking her family open? A deep thinker, naturally, Melissa replayed every moment leading to the discovery of her son’s body. Rewinding was getting her stuck, rote memory was dragging her deeper into an abyss from which she was unlikely to emerge. Drew’s drowning

Surviving a very sad year, the mending mom reviewed a series of letters she deemed necessary to write to the child she could no longer hold. Surprised that what she wrote had healing properties, Melissa complied those notes into something she believed could benefit another parent the way the illusive Theresa had done for her. And in my sales career, joy was found in the personal conversations I had with my clientele. We exchanged experiences, found humor in our collective stories, and only then moved on to the business portion of the meeting. Are You Stubborn Enough? One Sales Manager was livid seeing me in action with a prospective client. As we drove toward the office, he threatened my job if I didn’t begin selling like everyone else. Back in the office, he firmly restated, “Do you understand you are to immediately change your way?”
“Everyone knows something you don't, and you have knowledge others do not possess.” One evening a couple were at our home for dinner. The husband was a professor at a university instructing students on earning their MBA. Surprisingly, he, too, was complaining how difficult it is to get a new business off the ground. My reply was, all business is dependent upon marketing and sales. I explained while I find sales easy, I strive every day to learn more about marketing. I then offered help with sales insight knowing that wasn’t their area of expertise. To my disbelief, the man’s face grew red, he and his wife left early, and they chose to limit communication with us. The irony was the MBA instructor could not make a go of his own business. Within a year, he had to shut it down. But there are more lessons to be heeded from the experience. Eliminate the totem pole syndrome The man put his career above my status as a former salesperson and a previous stay-at-home mom. I was too low on the totem pole to be taken seriously. The error is in not acknowledging that everyone possesses decision-making capability and unique insights. The above experience led me to a better way of communicating. Upon hearing an opposing viewpoint from either a client, friend or peer, I first ask of their experience to understand how they came to their belief. Often, the inside knowledge proves to be our best training ground.

At the very least, hearing out the experience of others gives insight on the best way for us to proceed. As a volunteer, I recently sat down for lunch with only one other person at the table. I asked the gentlemen what he did for the organization. Taken aback, I heard him arrogantly say, “I build relationships within large corporations and introduce the executives to this organization. But I won’t go into detail, because you wouldn’t know anything about this.” Had the person not made the assumption about my ignorance, we might have had a conversation beneficial for both the two of us and the organization. I could have mentioned that I’m the one who wrote the book on the topic, but that would have produced heated words. Instead, I departed with a smile on my face. I saw the experience as another training module in the making. Being open to varying perspectives, and without judgment, broadens our scope while opening many more doors. What Businesses Don't Know About Social Media Karen Albert
As a social media strategist, I teach a strategic approach to using social media. One of the most effective strategies is identifying your target market. While traditional marketing strategies say that knowing your target market helps to craft a more impactful marketing campaign and message, it also helps to know what other businesses are serving that target market. These other businesses that service your target market can then become collaborative partners and an extension of your sales force. In 2013 I worked with a real estate professional in Los Angeles. “Joe” was fairly new and was struggling with building his business. He knew he had to be on social media (as all real estate professionals do) but didn’t want to be just like all the others. As you can imagine, the Los Angeles real estate business is not an easy one to break into and even harder if you have little to no experience. What was Joe’s unique differentiator? What was Joe’s target market?
Social media is constantly changing, updating and developing. It continues to change how we receive information, and it’s revolutionizing the way we work. Abundant resources provide instructions and guidance on how to use social media, but what they tend to overlook is how businesses should be using social media to connect and collaborate with other businesses.
After spending time with Joe and looking at what made him unique, we uncovered the fact that Joe absolutely loved animals. He and his wife were loving pet owners. They spent their weekends at dog parks or hiking with their pets. They were vegan, had a recurring donation to SPCA, and were foster parents to two kittens. After realizing how much of an animal lover Joe was, we decided to make that his differentiator. We branded Joe as the “animal lover’s real estate professional.”
You may be wondering why we would want to Joe traded in his Jetta for a Toyota 4Runner and connect with other businesses on social media turned it into the perfect transportation vehicle for since most of the time our efforts are focused on pets. He had leashes, treats, collars, water dishes, connecting with a community of consumers.

Signs Of Children Struggling With Adjustments and/or suicidal. What signs should I be looking for?” What can I do to help her?” One of the best things that a parent can do to help their child in a situation like this is to sit down with them and acknowledge that you understand just how difficult the change is. Many parents often think it is better to let things work themselves out on their own. However, that is where the danger starts. Here are the following warning signs: 1. Is she isolating? 2. Is she refusing to talk to others? 3. Is she is giving prized possessions away or throwing them out? 4. Does she experience bouts of crying? 5. Does she become easily angered? 6. Does she fight with others all of the time? 7. Has she accidentally or intentionally damaged property? 8. Do you suspect there might be substance abuse? Always remember safety first, if you have any safety concerns for your daughter, take her to the emergency room as soon as possible. If she is exhibiting any of these behaviors, it is imperative to have her evaluated. Other areas to explore are: How does the family as a whole deal with stress? How do you problem solve? The major concern in this is that maybe she is not equipped to evaluate whether or not this peer would be the right kind of person with whom to hang out with. As a ten year-old, she is just beginning to form her identity and must learn how to select friends who hold the same values as her family does. Therefore, she needs an adults guidance to learn how to pick peers who are not going to compromise her principles in any way. What activities do you enjoy? 6. What activities do you hate? Once you have the answers, you will need to move on to more specific questions, such as, “How will I know when you are really upset? What would it look like to me? How will I know that it is more than just having a bad day?” Recognizing that moving is one of life’s biggest events is a good place to open up the dialogue concerning her peers. This is a simple method that I practiced for 25 years as a business turnaround expert for multinationals and a consultant for small companies, a method that I use with my clients, as well as personally, and that allows me to achieve incredible results. My little secrets for your great successes are… • Aim High • Start Small • Celebrate • and Continue In this article, we will discuss the first secret and the others will follow in future issues.
We must have a sense of accomplishment, a real challenge that makes us say that it would be great if we could do it. Now, I understand that big goals are scary. But like Richard Branson said, “If your goals do not scare you, they are too small.” It's good to be a little scared. We must strive to get out of our comfort zone.
Aim High – Set yourself a daring professional or personal goal Many people do not like it. They often tell me, "I'm not sure I can do it.” There are two important points here: First : "who risks nothing, has nothing" Second : you are capable of accomplishing more than you think In 2008 the record for running a marathon, day after day, was 51. Amazing no? But In 2012 Ricardo Abad, smashed this record when he ran 607 marathons in 607 days.
These zones are not our friends they are zones of mediocrity. My favorite big goal was set by John F. Kennedy, in 1961. when he said, "At the end of this decade, we'll be laying a man on the moon." It was a goal that has inspired a nation, a generation and probably the world. It's only the big goals that can do it.
His goal was 500 consecutive marathons, but when completed that, he went on and ran another 107 times. Even more surprising is that during all that time Ricardo was working, rolling shifts in a factory. Now obviously, I'm not saying that everyone has to Many people forget the second part of this goal, which was not just to put a man on the moon, but try to do 608 marathons. also to bring him back safely an aspect which, I am No, but I think when you look at what he did, you sure, delighted astronauts. People often ask me, can certainly see that you can do a little more than "What if I set such a bold goal that I do not know you think. This is a certainty verified by my own how to get there?” I tell them that when JFK set his magnificent goal, he had no idea how it would experiences. be achieved. At that time, much of the necessary technology did not exist. You must aim high. Because it’s the big goals that inspire us the most. Small goals do not excite anyone.

However, Kennedy knew they would have enough time to find ways to get there. So, aim high, but do not be too aggressive with timing. Give yourself time to succeed.

MELISSA HULL GALLEMORE | LESSONS FROM NEVERLAND
OVERVIEW
As Lessons from Neverland opens, a warm Southwestern breeze suggests that we are in for a peaceful ride. Yet with each bend in the road, the reader finds the journey increasingly more unexpected and exhilarating.
This gripping memoir introduces us to a remarkable woman who has had to endure the most terrible tragedy any mother can face. And just when we begin to believe our heroine has made it safely to the other side, we are drawn into a mystery that culminates in another type of tragedy altogether. The fact that the author emerges in tact, inspired and on a mission to use her losses and life experiences to inspire, guide, and coach others is nothing short of miraculous. Most women would have crumbled under the extreme stress and strain. But then, most women don’t have their own personal Peter Pan and his Lessons from Neverland guiding them through life. 40 | ENTREPRENEUR PLATFORM MAGAZINE
