GENEVA - The UN Human Rights Council was set on Tuesday to consider setting up an international probe into Israel’s deadly interception of a Gazabound aid flotilla during an urgent debate on the incident.

“The Council will be holding an urgent debate on the Gaza flotilla incident this afternoon,” a spokeswoman for the 47-member state assembly, Claire Kaplun, said in a statement.

The request was made by states from the Arab League and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Kaplun told AFP. Pakistan, Sudan and the Palestinian delegation also tabled a draft resolution for the debate seeking condemnation of the raid and aiming to set up an international probe, according to a copy released here.

It called for an “independent international fact finding mission to investigate violations of international law resulting from the Israeli attacks on the flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian assistance.”

The draft resolution also “condemns in the strongest terms pos-

sible the outrageous attack by Israeli forces” and called for the release of all those detained in Monday’s operation.

Israeli commandoes boarded one of the aid ships bound for the Gaza Strip in the pre-dawn raid that left at least nine passengers dead and sparked global outrage. Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists were also arrested.

Israeli Defence Forces blamed activists on the ship for creating the confrontation by attacking its soldiers as they boarded the vessel.

Israel warned Tuesday it would prevent all aid ships from reaching besieged Gaza, as activists vowed a new attempt to defy the threeyear-old blockade of the Hamasrun Palestinian territory.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay condemned Israel’s use of military force as disproportionate, as the incident sparked widespread criticism when the council began its latest two week session on Monday.

Israeli ambassador Aharon Leshno Yaar urged the Human Rights Council “not to rush to conclusions” until full information about the incident was known.

For the first time two calendars of events denoting a part of tourism promotion of Gianyar Regency is held in conjunction. During these days, the two events namely Gempita Gianyar (Gianyar Extravaganza) and Ubud Festival had its own echo with the same magnitude for the benefit of Gianyar tourism with different organizer. Collaboration of these two events had invited questions. Even, the disseminating issues told that the collaboration of the two events was made because one of the promotional events lacked of funding.

In response to this, Tjok Putra Sukawati and Head of Cultural Services of Gianyar Tjok Rai Widiarsa went against the presumption. Collaboration of Gianyar Extravaganza and Ubud Festival was done because of the bustles of Ubud customary community over the coming months.

On that account, the events that were usually held separately, this year were conducted in collaboration.

Methanol Poisoning killed the 12th Victim Denpasar (Bali Post)

For the 12th time victims have died of methanol poisoning in Sanglah Hospital. This time it was I Nyoman Kariana (54), citizen of Banjar Gelogor Delod Tunduh Ubud, Gianyar. He admitted to Sanglah Hospital on Sunday (30 / 5) yesterday and died at around 21:30 pm.

Meanwhile, one of the victims is still hospitalized, Wayan Ekayasa (32) resident of Banjar Umaanyar, Pejeng, Gianyar Tampaksiring confessed to have been traumatized in drinking alcohol. The man, who works as a sculptor since he was young, was used to drinking. If he does not drink wine for a day, Ekayasa admitted it was difficult to sleep.

Ekayasa resumed drinking wine with six of his friends in the stalls

around the village on Friday (28 / 5) then. A total of six bottles of wine were finished by them. “We just mix it with soft drinks and did not mix it with anything else,” he said.

Out of the six people who drank that night, Ekayasa is only the one who is entering the hospital.

Ekayasa started to feel the reaction of methanol poisoning a day after. “I was drinking at 17 o’clock, and felt my eyes blurred a day later.

I realize now I cannot watch TV nor can I read SMS from my friends,” he said. He also complained of having blurred vision and shortness of breath.

He was later taken to Gianyar Public Hospital on Saturday (29 / 5) and then referred to Sanglah Hospital Sunday (30 / 5). Until yesterday he was still in care at the Angsoka Room at Sanglah Hospital. (Kmb24)

Traffic light goes out when raining, congestion inevitable Bali Post

DENPASAR - The rain flushing Denpasar and surrounding areas since last Sunday (May 30) and until Monday (May 31) morning, caused traffic jams at some streets around Denpasar. The most severe traffic congestion ensued along Jalan Gatot Subroto Barat.

Congestion coming about last Monday morning was getting more serious as traffic light at the crossroads of Jalan Gatot Subroto and Jalan Cokroaminoto, Ubung once went out at around 8:00 am Local Time. The congestion was also aggravated by the hours of leaving for office. All vehicles heading for and out of the downtown seemed to slow down and gather together on Jalan Gatot Subroto Barat.

To resolve such traffic congestion, dozens of traffic police personnel of Denpasar Metro Police assisted by patrol unit of West Denpasar Police and officers of Transportation Services went down to streets. They were made busy arranging the traffic flows, especially at the intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto—Jalan Cokroaminoto. Police officers were consequently forced to have morning ‘calisthenics’ or to regulate traffic flows in the midst of the drizzling rain.

Vehicles coming from the west, namely Jalan Gatot Subroto Barat, and vice versa were almost not moving. Congestion occurred starting from the crossroad of Jalan Gatot Subroto - Jalan Buluh Indah, at the intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto - Jalan Pidada - Jalan Bung Tomo, to

the central point of the intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto - Jalan Cokroaminoto, Ubung. Similar condition also had an impact until on the junction of Jalan Maruti - Jalan Cokroaminoto and crossroad of Jalan Gatot Subroto - Jalan A. Yani, Lumintang. In such condition, motorists could only be patient. “Wow, traffic congestion is occurring everywhere. Absolutely, I can not find any alternative way to avoid this bottleneck,” said Gede Mardika, a travel driver who was stuck in traffic congestion on Jalan Gatot Subroto.

Function conversion does not diminish rice production Bali Post

SEMARAPURA — Attitudinal change of farmers in the Klungkung Regency converting their paddy fields from planting rice to flower garden, in fact, is considered normal and not alarming for the development of rice production in the land of serombotan vegetables. Instead, it is considered the intelligence of farmers seeing the potential and market opportunities is getting better.

“I agree with the consideration of farmers that the flower cultivation is more promising than rice production,” said the Head of Klungkung Agricultural, Plantation and Forestry Services (Distanbunhut), Wayan Muliarta, when asked for his confirmation, last Monday (May 31).

If the conversion was considered to be more profitable for the economy of farmers, Muliarta admitted to support the endeavor of farmers. After all, he had confidence that not the whole land would be converted into flower garden. “The price of commodities is volatile. When the production is abundant, the price automatically drops. Then, when all farmers convert to flower cultivation, similar thing will occur automatically. Of course, farmers certainly do not want such a thing to happen,” he said.

Nevertheless, Muliarta still encouraged farmers to stay using intercropping patterns.

Some of the land should be used for growing rice, while the rest for flower and crops. By implementing the system, he believed it could protect farmers from price fluctuations.

He asserted that the plant conversion was not worried. Yet, it had to be recognized that it remained to affect the output as a result of reducing acreage. However, he could not call certain numbers of acreage reduction and reduced harvest proceedings. “If regarding to data, frankly speaking I do not remember them,” he admitted. To anticipate this condition, Muliarta claimed to continue increasing the production boost. Previously, on average the production could reach 6 tons of rice per hectare, but in the future it was expected to reach 6.5 to 7 tons per hectare. “Different ways will be attempted to increase the production. So, it will not suffer a significant setback,” he said.

Previously, a number of farmers claimed to utilize their paddy fields for cultivating flowers because they became more promising. Disputed land at Puseh Hamlet:

Village authority holds self-execution to houses of resident Bali Post

MANGUPURA - Hundreds of Angantaka villagers, last Monday (May 31), led by Head of Angantaka Customary Village made self-execution to the buildings on the disputed land of Ketut Ngenteg family located in front of the Banjar Puseh, Angantaka Village, Abiansemal. The execution took place dramatically following an internal conflict occurred in the family concerned involving two families, namely that of Ketut Ngenteg and Wayan Darma.

Demolition of the building started around 1:30 pm Local Time. Customary villagers in traditional outfits arrived at location after hitting the kulkul or split wooden drum. Village authority also employed heavy equipment such as bulldozer to facilitate the dismantling. As long as the residents did the demolition, the family of Ketut Ngenteg could only surrender watching.

There was no opposition or hostility during the execution taking place.

The buildings demolished were angkulangkul (entrance gate), garage, bathroom and kitchen that were claimed to be owned

by Wayan Darma who is the stepbrother of Ketut Ngenteg. The buildings on dispute were with an area of land approximately 3.5 ares, while total extent of the land was about eight acres.

According to Head of Angantaka Customary Village, IB Nyoman Mayun, the disputed land belonged to communal land (village property) and was not inheritance land.

Therefore, Ketut Ngenteg only had the right to occupy it. Such land was later disputed

by Ketut Ngenteg and was also going to expel Wayan Darma from the house. Peaceful mediation was done for many times at

the village level, as well as legal action in court, but they never got a settlement.

This case was originally brought to the Denpasar District Court that was later won by Wayan Darma. Seeing this, Ketut Ngenteg did not keep silent and appealed. In the High Court, Ketut Ngenteg even won the case and decided to perform an execution to the land owned by Darma.

“Actually, in the High Court Ngenteg won the dispute case. However, the village authority did not accept and kept defending Wayan Darma. This land should be divided in two,” he said.

Meanwhile, different version was proposed by Nyoman Sukarini, daughter of Ketut Ngenteg. According to her, her family actually did not dispute the land if Wayan Darma asked for it. However, it should be a good way. “As a matter of fact, if he requested it properly we could provide it. If the dispute is unresolved like this, we can just submit to our fate,” she said.

Still from the party of Ketut Ngenteg, Wayan Darma actually had no right to occupy the land because Wayan Darma did not belong to ayahan pokok (main customary services). In addition, the lawsuit in court was already won by Ketut Ngenteg as the owner of the whole land. Unfortunately, after a protracted conflict and resolution in legal procedures, Wayan Darma persisted in asking for his rights and the invoked protection to the customary village.

“Curiously, the village decision defended Wayan Darma. If so, it means the village authority does not respect the prevailing law,” she said. (ded)

Long queues ensue again at Gilimanuk Harbor

NEGARA - Long queues at Gilimanuk Harbor happened again last Sunday (May 30) night. Indeed, this condition routinely occurred on Sunday night. However, the queues on Sunday night were also caused by the soaring number of domestic tourists going home from spending their holidays in Bali.

“We tried maximum effort to keep things running smoothly. Thankfully, everything could run well this morning,” said Putu Suarta, Chief of Gilimanuk KP3 Police, last Monday (May 31).

Based on information, the queue of vehicles, chiefly student entourages using tourist buses and then added with inter-provincial buses and vehicles of commodities began to appear since Sunday night (May 30) at 7:00 pm Local Time.

At that time, the parking lot of the harbor had been fully occupied. Since the number of vehicles was getting more and more at that night, the end of queues gradually entered into maneuver parking lot at about 10:00 pm and the queues surpassed the maneuver parking.

Meanwhile, Operations Manager of ASDP Gilimanuk, Ospar Silaban when asked for his confirmation said the soaring number of vehicles making long queue was caused by the return of domestic tourists after enjoying their holidays in Bali using tourist buses choosing the night time as the schedule of AKAP inter-provincial bus and vehicles of commodities. South Korea steps up efforts to haul North Korea to UN Agence France-Presse

SEOUL - South Korea Tuesday stepped up its campaign to hold North Korea responsible at the UN Security Council for sinking a warship, briefing visiting Russian experts as an envoy held talks in the United States.

A team of Russian naval experts arrived Monday to review the findings of a multinational investigation team, which concluded last month that a North Korean submarine torpedoed the South Korean ship in March with the loss of 46 lives.

The Russians, including experts on torpedoes and submarines, will stay until June 7 to debrief investigators, inspect the wreckage and visit the site of the sinking near the disputed Yellow Sea border, defence and foreign ministry officials said.

“Russia’s direct trust in our investigation results will make this case clear, and it’s part of our stepped-up effort to muster international support,” one official told AFP. South Korea has announced a series of reprisals including cutting off trade with its communist neighbour.

The hardline state furiously denies involvement and has responded to the reprisals with threats of war, sending regional tensions sharply higher.

Rodong Sinmun, the ruling communist party newspaper, on Tuesday accused the US and South Korea of faking evidence as “a golden opportunity to ignite the second Korean war”.

Seoul’s Munhwa Ilbo newspaper said Tuesday the North had mounted a cyber campaign — using borrowed identities of South Korean Internet users — to spread its claim that Seoul fabricated the evidence.

It said the aim was to give the impression that many South Kore-

ans do not trust the findings of the investigators.

The National Intelligence Service declined to confirm the report.

The South, with US and Japanese support, will ask the Security Council to sanction — or at least to censure — the North for the sinking, one of the worst military attacks since the 1950-1953 war.

Seoul needs support from vetowielding Council members, including Russia and China which have traditionally been close to Pyongyang.

The foreign ministry in Moscow has said it needs “100 percent proof” of the North’s involvement.

Seoul has also asked China to send its own experts but Beijing has not responded, according to local media, some of which said the offer had been rejected.

At a three-way weekend summit, China’s Premier Wen Jiabao resisted pressure from the Japanese and South Korean leaders to publicly support the UN move or to condemn the North. Wen instead called for efforts to ease regional tensions.

Despite China’s unclear stance, South Korea continued its campaign by sending Second Vice Foreign Minister Chun Yung-Woo, in charge of UN affairs, to the United States Monday for discussions with US officials.

With the US government reviewing how to step up its own actions against North Korea, South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-Hwan said restricting cash flows to the North was an effective punishment.

TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that Iran has precise information that Israel plans to launch a “massive attack” on Gaza in the wake of its deadly raid on an aid flotilla.

“We have precise information it has planned a massive attack against Gaza to make up for its past defeats,” Ahmadinejad said in a public speech in the western Iranian city of Ilam that was broadcast live on state television.

“I warn you that if this time you commit a crime against any place, against Gaza, the storm of regional nations’ fury will uproot you,” he said.

The hardliner, who has repeatedly infuriated the world by his anti-Israeli tirades, also lashed out at countries which he said “backed the Zionist regime.”

“This time if you back the crimes of the Zionist regime, the anger of regional nations ... will not just be limited to the borders of Palestine, but will also put on trial you and those who are accomplices in the crime,” he said to cheering crowds.

Ahmadinejad criticised Washington for adopting a “weak stance” against Israel for its deadly raid on the Gaza aid flotilla.

“The US government has adopted a very weak and biased position. Instead of condemning, it has spoken vaguely and sought to evade taking a stance,” he said, while some Euro-

pean countries had adopted a “good” stand.

On Monday, Israeli commandos raided an aid flotilla in international waters of the Mediterranean headed to Gaza that left at least nine proPalestinian activists dead, according to the Israeli army.

The attack on the flotilla has triggered a fresh wave of tirades from Ahmadinejad against Israel.

The animosity between the Islamic republic and the Jewish state has worsened under Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly said Tehran’s arch-foe is “doomed to be wiped off the map.”

Israel, for its part, has consistently demanded strong action against Iran for pursuing its controversial nuclear programme and has not ruled out a military strike.

BAGHDAD - US military support for Iraqi efforts to secure Baghdad’s Green Zone ended on Tuesday, in the latest step in the American withdrawal from Iraq more than seven years after its invasion of Iraq.

The pullback marked the first time since 2003 that no US soldiers were present at any of the so-called “entry control points” to what is now referred to as the International Zone.

emony inside the heavily-fortified compound for Iraqi government buildings and a number of foreign embassies.

“The MPs (military police) were working with the Iraqi army, the Iraqi police, the Iraqi traffic police, all the time providing overwatch,” said Lieutenant Colonel Marc Garcia, commander of US 336th Military Police Battalion.

“The difference is now we’re leaving and they have complete responsibility for the entry control points.”

Asked if Iraqi forces were ready to operate without US supervision,

Garcia replied: “I’m confident that they are able to perform their mission.

“I think one of the demonstrations of that was during the election,” he added, referring to Iraq’s March 7 parliamentary poll when the only recorded violence in the Green Zone was a series of mortar attacks.

An Iraqi military delegation was to have attended the ceremony but a group of senior officers led by Staff Brigadier General Mahmoud Hussein Hamza arrived late and declined to speak to reporters.

Man kills three judges, commits suicide in China Agence France-Presse

BEIJING - A bank security guard armed with a machine gun opened fire in a central China court building on Tuesday, killing three judges and wounding three other people before killing himself, state press reported.

Qu Xiaojun, a guard for Postal Savings Bank, had delivered a sum of cash to a bank branch before going to the courthouse in the city of Yongzhou in Hunan province to carry out the shooting, the Procuratorate Daily said.

Qu, who was believed to be about 40 years old, then committed suicide after the morning attack, it said, adding that the motive for the shooting was not yet

known.

Calls to the courthouse and to the local government in the city of Yongzhou went unanswered.

Deadly shootings are extremely rare in China, where private gun ownership is banned.

However, some bank security personnel who handle transport of cash are armed with guns.

The incident followed a spate of bloody attacks on young schoolchildren around China since late March that have left 17 people dead, including 15 students, and scores injured.

Experts say the senseless assaults reveal a China struggling to come to grips with rapid social change following decades of booming economic growth.

KABUL - Al-Qaeda said its number three leader and Osama bin Laden’s one-time top money man Mustafa Abu al-Yazid has been killed along with several family members, in what would be a major blow to the global terror network.

US monitoring groups said the death of Yazid, who was the leader of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and its liaison with the Taliban for three years, was announced by the group in a message to jihadist websites on Monday.

“We have strong reason to believe that’s true, and that (Yazid) was killed recently in Pakistan’s tribal areas,” a US official said. “In terms of counterterrorism, this would be a big victory.”

Yazid, one of a number of Egyptians in the higher echelons of AlQaeda, was a founding member of the network and a former treasurer to bin Laden who was accused of channelling money to some of the September 11 hijackers.

Yazid, also known as Sheikh Said al-Masri, would be one of the highest profile Al-Qaeda leaders killed since US President Barack Obama took office.

“Al-Masri was the group’s chief operating officer, with a hand in everything from finances to operational planning,” the US official said.

“He was also the organisation’s prime conduit to bin Laden and (AlQaeda number two Ayman) Zawahiri,” he said. “He was key to Al-Qaeda’s command and control.”

The Al-Qaeda message carried by the SITE group that monitors Islamist websites did not say where or when Yazid was killed other than to speak of his “martyrdom”.

But it said his wife, three of his daughters, his granddaughter, and other men, women and children were killed along with him.

“His death will only be a severe curse by his life upon the infidels. The response is near,” according to the

message translated by SITE. Some US media reports said Yazid was killed in a US drone strike in the Pakistani tribal areas on the Afghan border, where the United States has been waging a covert drone war against militants in areas outside direct government control.

In the most recent such attack, local officials said six militants were killed on May 22 in North Waziristan, a rugged area Washington labels a global headquarters of Al-Qaeda and the most dangerous place on Earth.

“Though these terrorists remain extremely dangerous and determined to strike at the United States, the removal from the battlefield of top leaders like al-Masri is further proof that the tribal areas are not quite the safe haven Al-Qaeda and its allies thought them to be,” the US official said.

Waheed Omar, spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai, said the death of any “terrorist involved in terrorism activities in either Afghanistan or Pakistan, or on the borders, is a development (that) advances the cause”.

But he added: “We are not sure of any significant impact of the killing of one of the members of AlQaeda.

Analysts said several of Yazid’s predecessors as Al-Qaeda number three had been killed or captured, while there were rumours in 2008 that he himself had been killed.

Yazid, 54, was among those whose assets were frozen by the US Treasury in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

According to the FBI, it was Yazid who transferred funds via Dubai for Mohammed Atta, Marwan

al-Shehhi and Wal al-Shehri, three of the hijackers who flew aircraft into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.

Yazid, wearing thick glasses and a white turban, appeared in a number of videos released by AlQaeda since he first emerged as head of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan in May 2007.

A former member of the Islamic Jihad movement in Egypt, he had close links with fellow Egyptian Zawahiri and served time in jail over the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat.

“This is one of the most significant blows against Al-Qaeda in recent years and its impact will be felt by the group,” said Ben Venzke of intelligence analysis group IntelCenter.

He said Yazid ran Al-Qaeda operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to Yasser al-Sirri, the director of the London-based Islamic Observatory, Yazid was born in December 1955 in Egypt.

Sirri said at the time of Yazid’s appearance in May 2007 that he was “trusted by bin Laden, for whom he ran businesses in Sudan” when the founder of Al-Qaeda lived in exile there before Khartoum expelled him in 1996.

“Yazid is known for his integrity and management skills, but has never taken organisational or military responsibility at the heart of AlQaeda, of which he was one of the founders in 1989,” Sirri said.

Yazid’s last public statement was on May 4, when he delivered eulogies for the two top Al-Qaeda leaders in Iraq who were killed in April.

SYDNEY – A woman died from horrific burns after a man set her alight at an Australian petrol station on Tuesday, in a gruesome scene that prompted police to urge witnesses to seek counselling.

The 42-year-old woman was stabbed before she and her car were engulfed in flames at a Melbourne gas station, with witnesses reporting that her alleged attacker told them to “let her burn” when they tried to intervene.

The woman was rushed to hospital with burns to nearly all of her body and died hours later, the Australian Associated Press reported.

A 41-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s partner, was arrested at a nearby church after a two-hour stand-off with heavily armed police, AAP said.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and police are

waiting to interview him, it said.

“Victoria Police are concerned for the welfare of the many witnesses to this morning’s incident,” police said in a statement.

“Police encourage people to seek counselling.” A truck driver who was part of the morning rush-hour traffic passing the gas station said he stopped and raced over to help the burning woman with a fire extinguisher, but was driven back by a man with a knife. “(He was) telling her to burn,” the man told Fairfax Radio Network. “At this stage she was still rolling around or laying near the car.”

“The car was completely engulfed, she was completely engulfed, there was just black smoke pouring out.” Another man then drove his vehicle at the knifeman so people could help the woman.

“I obviously scared him a bit and he ran off,” the man told Fairfax Radio.

Stop debating Pancasila as state ideology Antara

JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Tuesday called for a halt to debates on Pancasila as the basic principles of the state saying it had served as the basic values of the Indonesian nation since the country proclaimed its independence.

“It is not proper to debate Pancasila as the basic principles of the state any longer. This is important because MPR RI (the People’s Consultative Assembly) in 1998 through its decree No. 18/MPR/ 1998 has declared it the basic principles of the state. Let’s stop debating Pancasila as the basic principles of the state because the debate is counter productive and a historical,”

he said in his address marking the founding father Soekarno’s speech on June 1, 1945 at the parliament building on Tuesday.

Also present at the event were Vice President Boediono, former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, former vice presidents Jusuf Kalla, Try Sutrisno and Hamzah Has, MPR Chairman Taufik Kiemas and a number of cabinet ministers.

In his 30-minute address, President Yudhoyono said Pancasila, along with the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Unity in Diversity were four main pillars of the nation and state which were part of the national life all the time.

“When we link Pancasila to transformation and reformation, reformation is actually continuity, change,

and something still relevant (to the present condition) the more so because we inherit the four pillars from our predecessors and thus, we must maintain their continuity. We can do new things to make the life of the state better without abandoning the basic values. It is for this reasons that Pancasila serves as an important pillar we have agreed upon since Indonesia proclaimed its independence,” he said.

For its part, the President called on the nation to use the commemoration of the founding father’s speech on June 1 as a momentum to understand the great ideas of Soekarno, the history of declaring Pancasila the basic principles of the state and how the present Indonesian generations could actualize the ideas.

Since 7 am Tuesday hundreds of people have converged on the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and then marched peacefully to different locations in the city to protest the violence and loss of life when Israeli commandos stormed the flotilla in international waters Monday, killing at least nine pro-Palestinian activists in a pre-dawn raid.

The protesters brought posters and banners with calls “Do not prevent humanitarian aid reaching Palestine.”

In addition, the protesters also urged the international community to take stern action against the Israeli aggression in Monday’s storming of Gaza-bound aid ships.

Also seen among the protesters were Indonesia’s red-and-white flags and Palestinian black-white-green-red flags of different sizes.

According to the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Management Center, the peaceful rallies that would last until 12.00 would also be staged in front of the United States Embassy in Medan Merdeka Selatan Street in Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, AFP reported that United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was “shocked” by the naval assault on a convoy carrying hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists in international waters.

As tens of thousands of people protested across the world, Ban called on Israel to “urgently” explain the raid reported to have killed up to nine people, many of them Turks.

AFP said the UN Security Council went into an emergency session at which Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu charged that Israel had “lost all legitimacy.”

Britain, France, Russia and China — four out of the five veto-wielding Security Council members — called for the blockade of Gaza to be lifted and for an independent inquiry.

Even the United States, Israel’s traditional ally, hinted that the blockade should at least be eased.

Enraged brides-to-be are threatening to flee the country and marry their boyfriends abroad if the government approves the plan, which is part of a wider marriage law reform being pushed by Muslim conservatives.

The proposal requires foreign men wishing to wed Muslim women — it will not apply to Christians or Buddhists or Hindus — to put a guarantee of 500 million rupiah (55,000 dollars) into a bank.

they can claim it as “shared property”.

Love-struck couples are outraged.

“How ridiculous... the government wants to sell me off,” sniffed 36-yearold events organiser Roslina, who is planning to tie the knot with her German boyfriend, Christopher, in September.

“My future husband will pay the amount but that’s not the point. We’ll definitely marry abroad if this becomes law.”

A 24-year-old model who declined to be named said she and her boyfriend, also from Germany, were being unfairly discriminated against.

“It looks like the government has no respect for Indonesian women. It’s crazy to penalise only foreign men.

Why not charge local men who marry three or four wives but can’t afford

it?” she said.

Her 39-year-old boyfriend, a banker who declined to give his name, said: “It’s a clear statement by the government that it owns its people and it sells them on the meat market.”

“Maybe we’ll also see catalogues in the future of women who are on the market for sale. Maybe I can open an office abroad and start marketing Indonesian women,” he added sarcastically.

Female student Masyita agreed: “People say that love is priceless, but you have to pay a penalty if you fall in love in Indonesia. But don’t worry; it’s only 500 million rupiah... so cheap, aren’t we?”

The proposal, spearheaded by the religious affairs ministry, will be sent to parliament for approval by the end of the year, an official said.

The guarantee is designed to stop foreigners entering fake marriages in order to set up businesses or buy property in their wives’ names, and to ensure that women are financially se-

cured against divorce, ministry official Nasaruddin Umar said.

“When the women are no longer of use, it’s usually goodbye to them,” he added without providing figures or research to back up his statement.

“Marriage is pure and sacred; it shouldn’t be tainted by lust or personal interests. We want to protect our women.”

The plan has drawn mixed responses from the country’s clerics, women’s groups and lawmakers.

Clerics in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country have thrown their weight behind the draft bill.

But lawmaker Iskan Qolba Lubis said: “People want to marry because they’re in love so why are we making things difficult for them? It’s also discriminatory. We wouldn’t be happy if other countries did the same to us.”

Nia Schumacher of Melati Worldwide, a group which lobbies for the interests of people in mixed marriages, said the proposal would lead to an exodus of “runaway brides”.

“Or the couples may not register their marriages or skip marriage altogether and co-habit instead. Is that what the government wants?” she asked.

Some women’s rights activists say the plan treats women like a commodity and discriminates against foreign men.

Hopefully, by offering some oblation gods mastering the birds could control their subjects.

(Coconut) Coconuts are widely used in Bali, for making sugar, alcohol,housing, utensils, temple offerings and charcoal.

The grated flesh of the coconut is frequenly added to food, it can also be squeezed in water to make coconut milk. If freshly grated coconut is not available, dried unsweetened coconut moistened with warm water can be used a substitute. To make fresh coconut milk, put 2 cups of freshly grated ripe coconut into a bowl and add 2 cups of lukewarm water. squeeze and knead the coconut thoroughly for 1 minute, then strain through cheesecloth into a bowl to obtain thick coconut milk.

Repeat the process with another 1 cup of water to obtain thin coconut milk. Combine both for the coconut milk called for in recipes in this book. Coconut milk can be frozen , thaw and stir thoroughly before use. A distinctive Balinese flavor is obtained by roasting chunks of fresh coconut in a charcoal fire until blackened on all sides. The charred exterior is then brushed off, the flesh grated and coconut milk made in the normal way to obtain roasted coconut milk. The best substitute for fresh coconut milk is instant coconut powder. Combine this with warm water as directed on the packet . For the richer, creamier flavor required for desserts and cakes, use canned (unsweetened) coconut cream.

To make turmeric water, peel about 8 inches of fresh turmeric root, slice finely and combine with 1 cup of water.

Process in a blender until very fine, or pound the sliced turmeric in a mortar and then mix with water and let stand for a couple of minutes. Strain through a sieve, pressing firmly with the back of a spoon to extract all the juice. Store in a jar in the refrigerator. If fresh turmeric is not available, combine 4 tablespoons of powdered turmeric with 1 cup of water and mix well.

BUSINESS Russia, EU seek rare harmony at crisis-hit summit Agence France-Presse

ROSTOV-ON-DON - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev hosted EU leaders Tuesday for a summit hoping to avoid customary bilateral squabbles and instead boost economic ties amid the financial crisis.

Opening talks in a friendly atmosphere that belied relations that have often been marred by disputes, Medvedev declared the sides were working on a new initiative to involve the European Union in Russia’s modernization drive.

“Today we have begun working on this initiative and I hope it will provide a significant impulse to our friendly, strategic relations,” Medvedev said as he greeted EU president Herman Van Rompuy for talks in the southern city of Rostovon-Don. Rompuy said the two-day summit came at a “crossroads” in ties — coming in the wake of the global crisis and being the first since the EU’s reforming Lisbon Treaty took effect.

“The summit comes at a defining time both for the European Union and Russia,” he said.

“We are maneuvering our way through the economic and financial crisis with the aim of coming out stronger as a union, and Russia is also at a crossroads.”

But Medvedev said Russia, whose economy shrank nearly eight percent in 2009 but so far avoided the worst of the financial crisis, was closely watching how Europe manages its market woes triggered by Spain and Greece’s budget troubles.

“I want... to wish you and your colleagues success in reforms

you are undertaking to coordinate the issues on containing the global financial crisis and those problems which now exist in certain European states,” Medvedev said.

With Moscow and Brussels both humbled by economic worries, talks were set to gloss over geopolitical disputes and work to smooth bumps in ties over trade, visas and EU concerns about its reliance on Russian energy supplies.

Past summits were marred by spats over issues such as human rights abuses in Russia, the August 2008 war in Georgia and Moscow’s ire at perceived EU encroachment into its former Soviet fiefdom.

Moscow declared setting a timeline to abolish visas its priority ahead of the summit, but the issue was only listed as one among many on a packed agenda Tuesday and analysts said the sides were unlikely to make headway on the issue.

Russia, which has long sought visa-free travel for its citizens to Europe, has voiced growing irritation over visa barriers while insisting the EU’s immigration problems are at its southern, not eastern borders.

The Kremlin is also eager for EU investment and technology know-how in modernising Russia’s economy after the crisis showed up its dependence on oil and gas ex-

ports, most of which go to Europe.

But the summit comes as the EU faces deep internal divisions over the Greek debt crisis and a sagging euro — developments that have not gone unnoticed by Russia, which holds nearly half of it massive reserves in euros.

A top Kremlin official estimated that trade between the partners had dropped about 30 percent last year. According to the EU, the bloc’s exports to Russia fell from 105 billion in 2008 to 66 billion in 2009.

European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso, who was joined by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton at the summit, hailed Russia’s bid for Europe’s know-how in its modernization drive as a way to achieve “more, faster, better.”

“Looking at your politics and economics of the 21st century it seems crystal clear that the EU and Russia must be side by side in a very close partnership.”

At this 25th EU-Russia summit, the bloc will be looking to make headway on trade disputes with its biggest energy partner, including anti-EU tariffs on timber exports and fees for trans-Siberian overflights.

Brussels is also expected to push Moscow on its efforts to join the World Trade Organisation.

SHANGHAI - China launched a benchmark index for it Nasdaq-style ChiNext board Tuesday, seven months after it created the new market to support small companies with high growth prospects.

The ChiNext Index will “comprehensively and objectively reflect the overall price direction of ChiNext board stocks,” said the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, which hosts the board.

The index was down 1.27 per-

cent, or 12.67 points, at 987.33 in early trading. It had a base level of 1,000 points.

China launched the growth board in October to give small- and medium-sized companies access to financing and encourage private equity firms and venture capitalists to back start-ups.

Regulators hope the new growth enterprise market will help fuel young companies and other firms with high-growth potential in the world’s third-largest economy in a similar way to Wall Street’s

Nasdaq.

As of Friday, there were 86 firms listed on the board with a total market value of 383.5 billion yuan (56.1 billion dollars).

The index will eventually be composed of 100 stocks that are selected based on their weight of market value of floatable shares and trading volume.

Newly listed stocks will be included in the indices from their 11th trading day until the number of firms listed on the board reaches 100, the exchange said.

BEIJING - China’s housing market problems are worse than those in the United States before the global downturn as they could stoke public discontent, a central bank adviser has warned.

The comments were made before China’s State Council, or cabinet, announced it would “gradually reform the real estate tax” — the first official sign of a possible annual levy on residential housing aimed at reining in soaring prices.

“The housing market problem in China is actually much, much more fundamental, much bigger than the housing market problem in the US and UK before your financial crisis,” said Li Daokui, a member of the bank’s monetary policy committee.

“It is more than (just) a bubble problem,” he told the Financial Times in an interview published Tuesday.

The property market in the United States collapsed as too many people were unable to repay their high-risk, or sub-prime mortgages, leading to a credit crunch in which thousands lost their homes and lending dried up.

China has recently introduced a range of measures to prevent the growth of asset bubbles and soaring property prices.

Authorities have tightened restrictions on advance sales of new property developments, introduced new curbs on loans for third home purchases, and raised minimum downpayments for second homes.

The latest tax plan was expected to discourage property speculation and help replenish the coffers of local governments, which have been severely depleted by an investment binge over the past year, Chinese media reports have said.

A property tax is likely to be imposed on a trial basis in Beijing, Shanghai, the southwestern municipality of Chongqing and the southern city of Shenzhen by end-June, state media said previously.

China currently has no such levy on residential property but does impose a 1.2 percent tax on 70-90 percent of the value of commercial real estate.

The State Council also approved a plan to encourage the withdrawal of state capital in “general competitive sectors”, in an apparent effort to reduce the amount of government-backed investment in the red-hot property market.

Li said recent moves by Beijing to rein in the property market needed to be part of a long-term push to bring high housing prices under control, the Financial Times reported.

He warned the high cost of housing could hamper future growth by slowing urbanisation. Official data showed real estate prices in 70 cities jumped 12.8 percent in April, the fastest year-on-year rise for a single month in five years.

At the Beijing Real Estate Expo in April, the average price of a new apartment in the Chinese capital was 21,164 yuan (3,100 dollars) per square metre, double that of last year, state media said.

That means a 90-square-metre (970 square feet) apartment in Beijing would cost 1.9 million yuan, compared with the average per capita income of 17,175 yuan in 2009.

Lawyers oppose Naomi Campbell diamond testimony FORMER Liberian President Charles Taylor’s defense lawyers on Monday opposed a request by prosecutors at his war crimes trial to call supermodel Naomi Campbell as a witness, branding the move “a publicity stunt.” Prosecutors earlier this month filed a motion seeking to have Campbell subpoenaed to testify about claims Taylor gave her “blood diamonds” at a reception in South Africa in 1997. But Taylor’s lawyers said the evidence was “tangential to the real issues” against Taylor and said prosecutors were trying to introduce it too late in the trial — 15 months after they closed their case.

“For the prosecution to present such inferential evidence at this advanced stage, as part of an obvious publicity stunt, would bring the administration of justice into serious disrepute,” Taylor’s British lawyer Courtenay Griffiths wrote to judges. According to the prosecution motion seeking a subpoena, Campbell told prosecutors through her lawyer she does not want to get involved in the case and is concerned for her safety.

Prosecutors want Campbell to testify about Taylor’s alleged gift of diamonds along with actress Mia Farrow and another witness, Carole White, who were both at the same reception in South Africa. In a written statement to the court, Farrow said Campbell told her that two or three men woke her up and “presented her with a large diamond which they said was from Charles Taylor.”

White says she heard Taylor say he was going to give Campbell diamonds and saw them being delivered.

Prosecutors say Campbell’s testimony would provide “direct evidence of the accused’s possession of rough diamonds from a witness unrelated to the Liberian or Sierra Leone conflicts.”

The two leaders agreed that each country will hold a festival or a special week next year to showcase the other’s screen offerings, such as animation and TV drama series, a Japanese official said.

“We accepted the Chinese proposal because it’s a good offer,” the official said after the summit meeting. “It will be a good opportunity for both of us to promote our cul-

As part of his own effort to boost cultural understanding, Wen said he had enjoyed watching Japan’s Oscarwinning film “Departures”, which had been recommended to him by Hatoyama. SEOUL – Multiplex cinemas will broadcast South Korea’s World Cup matches live in 3D to lure fans away from their televisions at home, an official said Tuesday.

Major chains like CGV, Lotte Cinema and MegaBox plan to show the matches in three dimensions, especially those involving the South Korean squad, on around 100 screens nationwide, according to Yonhap news agency.

They have signed deals with SBS, the Seoul-based broadcaster that has the exclusive rights to broadcast the tournament in Korea, Yonhap said.

“People don’t come to theatres when there’s a Korean match,” CGV marketing official Park Hye-Young told Yonhap. “So we decided to show the matches on our screens that are best for watching sporting events.”

Going to the movies for a football match is nothing new for South Koreans, who watched games in theatres for free in 2002, when South Korea co-hosted the tournament with Japan

and advanced to the semi-finals.

This time, however, they will have to pay.

“The audience will get a unique experience through the surround sound and quality screening,” said Lee Jung-A of MegaBox’s marketing team. South Korea play Greece on June 12, Argentina on June 17 and Nigeria on June 23 in the group stages.

Multiplex cinemas will broadcast South Korea’s World Cup matches live in 3D to lure fans away from their televisions at home. Major chains like CGV, Lotte Cinema and MegaBox plan to show the matches in three dimensions, especially those involving the South Korean squad, on around 100 screens nationwide, according to Yonhap news agency.

Study: 10 minutes of exercise, hour-long effects Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Ten minutes of brisk exercise triggers metabolic changes that last at least an hour. The unfair news for panting newbies: The more fit you are, the more benefits you just might be getting.

We all know that exercise and a good diet are important for health, protecting against heart disease and diabetes, among other conditions. But what exactly causes the health improvement from working up a sweat or from eating, say, more olive oil than saturated fat? And are some people biologically predisposed to get more benefit than others?

They’re among questions that metabolic profiling, a new field called metabolomics, aims to answer in hopes of one day optimizing those benefits — or finding patterns that may signal risk for disease and new ways to treat it.

“We’re only beginning to catalog the metabolic variability between people,” says Dr. Robert Gerszten of Massachusetts General Hospital, whose team just took a step toward that goal.

The researchers measured biochemical changes in the blood of a variety of people: the healthy middle-aged, some who became short of breath with exertion, and marathon runners.

First, in 70 healthy people put on a treadmill, the team found more than 20 metabolites that change during exercise, naturally produced compounds involved in burning calories and fat and improving blood-sugar control. Some weren’t known until now to be involved with exercise. Some revved up during exercise, like those involved in processing fat. Others involved with cellular stress decreased with exercise.

Those are pretty wonky findings, a first step in a complex field. But they back today’s health advice that even brief bouts of activity are good.

“Ten minutes of exercise has at least an hour of effects on your body,” says Gerszten, who found

some of the metabolic changes that began after 10 minutes on the treadmill still were measurable 60 minutes after people cooled down.

Your heart rate rapidly drops back to normal when you quit moving, usually in 10 minutes or so. So finding lingering biochemical changes offers what Gerszten calls “tantalizing evidence” of how exercise may be building up longer-term benefits.

Back to the blood. Thinner people had greater increases in a metabolite named niacinamide, a nutrient byproduct that’s involved in bloodsugar control, the team from Mass General and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard reported last week in the journal Science Translational Medicine.

Checking a metabolite of fat breakdown, the team found people who were

more fit — as measured by oxygen intake during exercise — appeared to be burning more fat than the less fit, or than people with shortness of breath, a possible symptom of heart disease.

The extremely fit — 25 Boston Marathon runners — had ten-fold increases in that metabolite after the race.

Still other differences in metabolites allowed the researchers to tell which runners had finished in under four hours and which weren’t as speedy.

“We have a chemical snapshot of what the more fit person looks like.

Now we have to see if making someone’s metabolism look like that snapshot, whether or not that’s going to improve their performance,” says Gerszten, whose ultimate goal is better cardiac care.

Don’t expect a pill ever to substitute for a workout — the new work shows how complicated the body’s response to exercise is, says metabolomics researcher Dr. Debbie Muoio of Duke University Medical Center.

4G wireless: It’s fast, but outstripped by hype Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK – Cell phone companies are about to barrage consumers with advertising for the next advance in wireless network technology: “4G” access. The companies are promising faster speeds and the thrill of being the first on the block to use a new acronym.

But there’s less to 4G than meets the eye, and there’s little reason for people to scramble for it, at least for the next few years.

Sprint Nextel Corp. is the first carrier to beat the drum for fourthgeneration wireless technology.

It’s releasing its first 4G phone, the EVO, this week.

In the fall, Verizon Wireless will be firing up its 4G network in 25 to 30 cities, and probably will make a big deal of that. A smaller provider, MetroPCS Communications Inc., is scheduled to introduce its first 4G phone around the same time.

So what is 4G? Broadly speaking, it’s a new way to use the airwaves, designed from the start for the transmission of data rather than phone calls. To do that, it borrows aspects of the latest generation of Wi-Fi, the short-range wireless technology.

For consumers, 4G means, in the ideal case, faster access to data. For instance, streaming video might work better, with less stuttering and higher resolution.

Videoconferencing is difficult on 3G and might work better on 4G. Multiplayer video games may benefit too.

Other than that, it’s difficult to point to completely new uses for 4G phones — things they can do that 3G phones can’t.

Instead, the upgrade to 4G is more likely to enhance the things you can already do with 3G, said Matt Carter, president of Sprint’s 4G division.

“View it as the difference between watching regular TV and high-definition TV,” Carter said.

“Once you’ve experienced highdefinition TV it’s hard to go back to standard TV. It’s the same sort of thing here.”

So the improvement from 3G to 4G is not as dramatic as the step from 2G to 3G, which for the first time made real Web browsing, video and music downloads practical on phones. The introduction of 3G started in earnest about five years ago, but it isn’t complete — AT&T Inc. and T-Mobile USA still have little rural 3G coverage, for instance.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum had fluid drained from his right knee on Monday, days before the start of the NBA finals. “It was getting worse,” said Bynum, who hopes the procedure will allow him to play effectively in the finals against the Boston Celtics as the Lakers seek a second straight NBA crown. “The swelling wasn’t leaving, so they had to do it. I was doing the treatment, but it wasn’t going anywhere.”

Bynum was diagnosed with a meniscus tear during the Lakers’ first-round playoff series against Oklahoma City. He has started all 16 of the Lakers postseason games, but has been hindered by the injury. Coach Phil Jackson said Bynum will probably be limited but remains likely to play against Boston. The best-of-seven championship series starts Thursday in Los Angeles.

“I’m out there for whatever they ask me to do, any amount of minutes,” Bynum said. “You don’t come this far just to say, ‘OK, I can’t go any more.’”

Milan - Inter President Massimo Moratti has revealed that he likes the fact there is a loophole in Fabio Capello’s contract with England. It’s no secret that Capello is Moratti’s No 1 choice to replace Jose Mourinho who will be unveiled at Real Madrid this afternoon.

At first it looked like an impossible mission, but despite statements of intent, Capello’s contract was apparently never revised from the one he signed in 2007. That means he can free himself for just £4m after the World Cup in South Africa this summer.

Interviewed by Sky Italia last night, Moratti said: “It makes me happy that a Coach of Capello’s level is available. “We are doing a 360 degree view, there are other names under exam, not many but we aren’t thinking about making a decision in a hurry like everyone thinks. “It’s a delicate decision that requires the right timing,” Moratti concluded.

The Italian media insist Fabio Capello could go to Inter with just a £4m buy-out clause from his England contract. President Massimo Moratti has named Capello as one of the primary candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at San Siro next season. Don Fabio’s contract with the England FA runs until the summer of 2012, but Lord Triesman’s sudden resignation increases the uncertainty.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Controversial Brazilian striker Adriano failed to appear at a police interview Monday in connection with alleged links to a drug-dealing gang that has been accused of murdering police officers. Adriano had been summoned for a 1700 GMT meeting to be quizzed by chief Luiz Alberto Cunha de Andrade.

But he did not show in person, instead sending his lawyer Adilson Fernandes to ask for the meeting to be delayed, a police spokesman told AFP, adding that no date had been set for the footballer to re-appear. The news could be a blow to Serie A side AS Roma, for whom the Flamengo striker — known as much for his goalscoring talents as the controversy he courts off the pitch — will sign in June. Adriano, who has played for Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Parma in Italy’s Serie A but failed to make the cut for Brazil’s World Cup squad, is suspected of being involved in financial dealings with members of a drugs gang run by Fabiano Atanasio da Silva in the Vila Cruzeiro favela.

Da Silva has been accused of being involved in the shooting down of a police helicopter on October 17, 2009, an incident which led to the death of three police officers. In October 2008 he was also accused of the murder of a prison chief.

According to local newspaper reports Adriano is also being investigated after two controversial photographs of the centre-forward came to light.

On its front page O Dia daily published a picture of Adriano making the initials ‘CV’ with his fingers. In Rio CV is also an abbreviation for the Comando Vermelho criminal gang.

Another picture shows the 28-year-player posing with a rifle. Both pictures are believed to

have been taken when Adriano lived in Italy. A press spokesman for the player told the paper Adriano had simply posed with a “replica gun which is used for paintball”. Local police last took an interest in Adriano in April when he was called to explain why one of his motorbikes was registered to the mother of a known drug dealer, Paulo Rogerio de Souza Paz, who is also a childhood friend. That case has yet to be closed.

Red Bull vows to avoid driver fallout MARK Webber and Sebastian Vettel have been told by their team that they will not be allowed to take any bad feelings from their Turkish Grand Prix clash into the next race of the season - as Red Bull Racing chiefs vow to move quickly to try and prevent the situation spiralling out of control. With neither driver accepting responsibility for the accident, and team chiefs in disagreement about who was to blame for the crash that cost Red Bull Racing victory in Istanbul, the outfit faces a huge distraction from its on-track efforts.

And with the fallout from the crash prompting fans and media to suggest that the events of Turkey show that factions of the outfit are favouring Vettel over Webber, the

matter is not going to be easy one to draw a line under. However, team principal Christian Horner has promised to move quickly to try and get the situation sorted as best he can - and has said he will do everything he can to not let tensions simmer below the surface.

“The most important thing, and I have had this situation before with drivers in different formulas, is to get issues out into the open, deal with them and that is exactly what we will do here,” Horner told AUTOSPORT about how he intended to act on dealing with the matter. There is no animosity between the drivers. They are both competitive. They are both hungry animals, and it is down to us to ensure that they learn from this and it

doesn’t happen again.”

Horner thinks both Webber and Vettel will take on board the fact that they not only wrecked their afternoons in Turkey, but also those of the team they work for. “I think both drivers will look at it, they will reflect on it, and it is important they learn from it,” he said.

“They represent a whole team and Red Bull when they are out their driving, and they know that what has happened has cost not only themselves but the team, and Red Bull, a lot of points.”

And although Red Bull’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has blamed Webber for the incident, Horner has adopted a more balanced view – claiming both drivers have to share the blame. “They should

McLaren praises ‘sensible’ drivers McLaren has praised the ‘exceptional’ behaviour of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in being able to fight wheel-towheel without colliding. And McLaren’s chief engineer Tim Goss says the events of the afternoon show how strong McLaren is, and how well Hamilton and Button get on. “Both our drivers are

very, very sensible,” said Goss.

“They both handled themselves particularly well on the circuit and with the media. “We employ them to be aggressive racing drivers. They like

to fight; they are both world champions and out to prove they’re the best. But the way they have handled themselves on the circuit has been absolutely exceptional so far this year.”

delivered because their two drivers are racing. Our two drivers were racing, but I think that just shows how well our two drivers can manage themselves on the circuit.”

When asked for his opinion on the Red Bull Racing accident, Goss said: “I’ve only read that neither driver says they are to blame. There is some good footage of the incident, and you just have to look at it and make your own mind up. But I think Vettel had enough room on the track.”
