Unity to solve the conflict Ritual was held in Samuantiga temple in Bedahulu, Blahbatuh, Gianyar on Sunday, May 2nd 2010. The ritual is called “siat sampian” which is usually being held on the fourth day of the ceremony. The ritual is a dance performed by a group of female dancers called pemas and the male group called parekan. In English, siat sampian means fighting using Balinese offerings and it is a sacred dance which is passed down from generation to generation.

The dance has simple moves so most of the participants of the ceremony can take part in the dance. The pemas is using black cloth, white belt and dress while the parekan is using all white clothes. The procession of siat sampian was started since early in the morn-

After the ngombang procession then the siat sampian dance started. Patera said that the procession is to purify the world and everything in it. The dancers were not chosen but usually the parents who had dance before will be continued by their children. Patera said “they all voluntary in doing the dance because they don’t want any disasters to happen.” At firsts, the dancers were those who had suffered from sickness and cured after they pray in the temple. NEW YORK – Police found an “amateurish” but potentially powerful bomb that apparently began to detonate but did not explode in a smoking sport utility vehicle in Times Square, authorities said Sunday. Thousands of tourists were cleared from the streets for 10 hours after a T-shirt vendor alerted police to the suspicious vehicle, which contained three propane tanks, fireworks, two filled 5-gallon gasoline containers, and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other com-

ponents, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. “We avoided what we could have been a very deadly event,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. “It certainly could have exploded and had a pretty big fire and a decent amount of explosive impact.” The bomb appeared to be starting to detonate but malfunctioned, top police spokesman Paul Browne told The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
