Australia take part in developing education in Karangasem Amlapura (Bali Post) -
Australian Government takes part in developing education and culture in Bali especially in the area that needed assistant such as Karangasem. I Wayan Geredeg, said on Monday, January 11th 2009, that Karangasem has 40% of poverty rate and it need a lot of assistant in repairing the condition.

“The quality of the human resources must be increase first in order to increase the welfare of the people. One way to do it is through good education,” he added. For that reason, Karangasem government agrees to cooperate with Australian Government. On Monday, the representative of Australian government vis-
ited SLTPN 4 Bebandem, one of the school assisted by Australia. They were Brian Spicer, the head of Basic Education Program (BEP), Aaron O’Shanessy, a member of Bridge Program, and Farah Tomazin, a journalist. Brian said that through BEP program, Australia has built 2,000 schools throughout Indonesia and
one of them is SLTPN 4 Bebandem. The school received 1.3 billion rupiah of fund to built and develop it. Currently, the school has 330 students and adequate facilities. In addition to giving great fund, Australian government also help in increasing the education quality of education in Karangasem by giving the prepare training for teachers and
school staffs. Through Bridge program, the teachers and staff can increase their skills and knowledge by corresponding with the teachers from Australia and by teachers exchange program. I Ketut Latri, the head of SLTPN 4 Bebandem said that two teachers already being sent to Australia to study. “We wanted to increase the quality of education by increasing the quality of the teachers. We also give extra lesson of IT to the students in order to give them more knowledge,” he added.

moon in Sasih Kadasa (April) to Sivaratri Day. This removal was based on pawisik or divine revelation from the Ida Batara (adored deity) desiring the change considering Sivaratri also denoted a holy day to do contemplation and meditation.
