“Tawur Agung” held in Batur Praying for safety and harmony Batur – The “Tawur Agung Labuh Gentuh” ceremony was held in Ulun Danu Temple in Batur on Wednesday, December 16th 2009. The procession was started on Tuesday, December 15th 2009 by “mapepada wewalungan” ceremony led by Ida Sri Mpu Pande Dharma Dasi from Geria Tamanbali, Bangli.
The “Tawur Agung” ceremony was held in six different places, they were the Peak of Batur Mountain, Segara Temple, and Watu Klotok in Klungkung. The ceremony was started in the morning joined by hundreds of Hindus from throughout Bali. After
praying together, there were sacred dance performances such as baris dance. Then the Hindus walked towards the peak of the mountain to continue the ceremony. Continued on page 6
