SEOUL - The United States will impose new sanctions on North Korea following the sinking of a South Korean warship, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday.

The sanctions were designed to prevent Pyongyang from funding weapons programmes and spread-
ing weapons of mass destruction, Clinton told a press conference. She announced measures “to in-
crease our ability to prevent North Korea’s proliferation, to halt their illicit activities that help fund their weapons programmes and to discourage further provocative actions”. Clinton and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates were visiting South Korea to show support after
the sinking of the ship with the loss of 46 lives. The US and South Korea, citing findings of a multinational investigation, accuse the North of torpedoing the Cheonan near the disputed Yellow Sea border in March — a charge it denies. Continued on page 6

Denpasar – Mass cremation ceremony or “ngaben” will be held in Padangsambian village on Friday, July 23rd 2010. The other ceremony as the part of the ngaben was already started on Wednesday, July 21st 2010. I Gusti Putu Gede Suwira, the head of the village, said that the ceremony is held for the first time in Padangsambian. The fund was taken from the donation, the local bank and from the participants of the mass ngaben. The peak of the ceremony will be done tomorrow. “The ceremony is for the member of Padangsambian village especially for those who
