Iran produced 17 kgs of further enriched uranium Associated Press Writer
TEHRAN, Iran – Iran’s nuclear chief said Wednesday his country has produced 17 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20 percent, defying U.N. demands to halt the controversial program. The 20 percent level, needed to produce fuel for a medical research reactor, is far below the more than 90 percent required to build a nuclear weapon, but U.S. officials
have expressed concern Iran may be moving closer to the ability to reach weapons-grade level. The United States and its allies accuse Iran of seeking to acquire

Security Council approved a resolution two weeks ago strengthening sanctions on Iran over its disputed nuclear program and calling on individual countries and blocs of nations to expand their own sanctions regimes on Iranian individuals and organizations. atomic weapons. Tehran denies the charge, saying its nuclear program is geared toward generating electricity. Iran has been producing the 20 percent enriched material since February. The new figure of 17 kilograms — about 37 pounds — was announced by Vice President Ali Akbar Salehi, who heads Iran’s nuclear program. “Potentially, we can produce 5 kilograms (11 pounds) a month but we

Competition winner Adam Santarossa looks out from a giant replica Jabulani World Cup ball in Melbourne. The Australian man is being paid thousands of dollars to watch the World Cup inside the giant football equipped with a well-stocked fridge, a games console and a bunk bed.
MELBOURNE – An Australian man is being paid thousands of dollars to watch the World Cup inside a giant football equipped with a well-stocked fridge, a games console and a bunk bed. Adam Santarossa, 23, says his friends are jealous after he was selected by Adidas to spend the month-long tournament watching football, tweeting and writing blogs inside the sixmetre (yard) diameter Jabulani ball. “Other people have work commitments and family commitments. My only problem is getting my blog done on time,” he told AFP. “It’s an easy life I’m living.
I’m sure people will be quite jealous.” Santarossa has a cleaner, free laundry, a PlayStation 3 and a laptop, and will get 3,000 dollars (2,600 US) for his trouble, along with the contents of the ball and three bags full of sports gear. He is allowed to have friends round to the ball, on Melbourne’s dockside, for Australia’s games and even had a visit from a minor celebrity, singer Dannii Minogue’s partner Kris Smith. “I had a bit of trouble at the start — it’s a bit difficult having people peer in through the windows 24seven,” he said. “But it’s a pretty easy life. I’m going to be seeing if they can extend my lease.”
