ran parte de la destrucción del paisaje de Topeka ha sucedido a lo largo de las últimas décadas debido a la eliminación del centro como un destino empresarial. Esto ha sido ocasionado por el gran escándalo del tranvía de los 1950s dirigido por General Motors y sus afiliados en la industria del combustible fósil y petróleo, que compraron parte de las compañías de tranvías para hacer pedazos las vías, eliminar los tranvías y promover el transporte con motores de combustible fósil.

uch of the destruction of Topeka’s cityscape has occurred over the past few decades because of the elimination of the downtown core as a business destination. This has been caused by the great streetcar scandal of the 1950s led by General Motors and its oil and fossil fuel industry affiliates, who bought out the streetcar companies to tear up track and eliminate streetcars and promote fossil-fueled piston-engine transportation.

This great scandal uprooted the fabric that shaped our cities and neighborhoods between about 1890 and 1940. Streetcar tracks, being fixed infrastructure, lured investors of that colorful era to place their interests near the alignment of the tracks. This development occurred along the alignment within several blocks in all directions. The permanence of the steel tracks in concrete promised long-term investment

security for developers. This, in turn, offered people-friendly walking and shopping places along the alignment with interesting places for people to hang out. The places included turn-ofthe-century mini-shopping areas with maybe a small grocery store, ice cream parlor and quaint little park with a bandstand. People could ride the streetcar partway and get out and walk to various hangouts along the tracks.

After the scandal, however, no more desirable public transportation existed. Buses attracted only a desperate ridership, which declined while automobile usage increased greatly. This occurrence, coupled with the scandal’s objective – oildependent motorists being able to go anywhere they wanted, as far as they wanted, whenever they wanted – left us with nice little monuments of the past in the form of pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, where walking remained a healthy pastime.

Los altos precios del combustible, las exhorbitantes tarifas de estacionamiento que suman más de $300 al mes y el gasto incrementado de tener 2 ó 3 autos familiares han reducido los ingresos de las familias a mero dinero para subsistir.

Más de 40 ciudades en EE.UU. están tratando de eliminar las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero producidas por los motores de combustión. Pero esas ciudades están agobiadas con el congestionamiento de tráfico y los problemas de estacionamiento en el centro. En Kansas City, Mo., por ejemplo, la proporción de estacionamiento de 3 a 5 lotes por 1,000 pies cuadrados de área comercial es común. Ahora, ha surgido un camino – un sistema de tren ligero, establecido inicialmente por razones turísticas.

Otras ciudades tienen rocas que mover antes de que puedan conseguir los beneficios de un sistema de tranvías que Topeka puede disfrutar directamente. Topeka no tiene problemas de grandes recorridos que resolver porque es un pueblo pequeño comparado con, digamos, San Francisco y Los Ángeles. Nosotros empezaríamos a colectar una olla de oro al final del arcoiris, incluso antes de que se coloque el primer riel en la primera fase del plan. Los ingresos iniciarían con el establecimiento a largo plazo de inversionistas externos agresivos que deseen comprar una propiedad dentro de las 3 cuadras a ambos lados de las vías y empezar el desarrollar para captar ingresos turísticos para el momento en que la primera fase sea completada. La comunidad hispana es tan importante en Topeka que cuando Dos Mundos comenzó a ofrecer su publicación a los residentes de Topeka, se volvió importante para este escritor sacar su propio periódico para iluminar a los hispanos sobre esto. La comunidad hispana de Topeka es talentosa e incluye a muchos empresarios brillantes; y se pronostica que los hispanos jugarán un papel central en el éxito del proyecto del circuito del tranvía del lado este de Topeka.

Continued from Page 1 Sadly, though, most of the neighborhood shopping and entertaining stops disappeared in most neighborhoods as we approached the 1960s. In Topeka’s Oakland neighborhood, circa the late ’40s and early ’50s, a Dairy Queen, Martin’s Hobby Shop, a movie theater, post office and candy factory disappeared.

The automobile’s popularity encouraged people to move away from the urban core, causing a sprawling effect, with developers and individuals building far out from the city limits. This was a fantastic trend for the motor vehicle and oil industries. How nicely their street buyout plan worked!

We’re in an age where individuals who work in cities must commute great distances. Modern buses only operate near the urban core, and bus routes have had no influence upon development, as their routes can – and do – change overnight.

As larger U.S. cities have continued to sprawl, automobile transportation has created major problems for suburbanites. High gas prices, outrageous monthly parking fees totaling more $300 a month and the added expenses of having two and three family cars have reduced family incomes to mere survival money.

More than 40 U.S. cities are trying to eliminate the greenhouse gas emissions created by piston-engine vehicles. But those cities are burdened with traffic congestion and downtown parking problems. In Kansas City, Mo., for example, parking ratios of three to five parking spaces per 1,000 square feet of commercial area are common.

This much space (and the cost associated with it) inhibits development and precludes the type of high-density continuous urban development desired in the downtown area.

We have a similar problem in downtown Topeka.

To address those problems, some cities are using streetcars. Streetcars solve numerous problems in high-density areas, including traffic congestion, high auto accident rates and parking problems. In the larger cities, streetcars are being reinstalled to provide suburban areas with high-speed, pollution-free, smooth transportation. For every new light-rail passenger gained, there is one less car on the road.

Part of this re-establishment of lightrail transportation in our cities is the result of the Obama administration’s TIGER and Quick Start grants, which not only establish urban light-rail transportation, but also bicycle trails adjacent to the aligned tracks to create a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly environment. This, in turn, creates better streetscapes and safer, more plentiful people hangouts. It’s a good plan that’s working aggressively nationwide.

A major benefit is occurring as lightrail is being reintroduced: economic development. Employers are attracted to cities that provide light-rail transportation. Development within three

blocks of track alignments in places such as in Portland, Ore., has generated billions of dollars of development in areas of only a few square miles of surrounding wasteland near the alignment.

Certain Topekans have sought ways to accelerate the development of the River Front tourism project and for ways to launch and/or strengthen the hundreds of good ideas of our citizens.

Now, a way has come – a light-rail system, established initially for tourism reasons.

Other cities have boulders to move before they can gain the benefits of a streetcar system that Topeka can enjoy upfront. Topeka doesn’t have commuting problems to solve because we’re a small town compared to, say, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We would start to collect a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow even before the first rail is laid in the first phase of the plan. The revenue would start with the long-term establishment of aggressive outside investors wanting to buy property within three blocks on either side of the track layout and start development to capture tourism revenue by the time the first phase is completed. More money would be guaranteed from the higher real estate prices along the alignment, along with immediate local employment from construction jobs.

Another pot of gold would come upon completion of the tourism loop. Initially, the streetcar would draw curiosity-seekers from within 100 miles of Topeka and then from 500 miles away in any direction.

The best feature Topeka’s light-rail system could offer would be a ride of about an hour with no transfer requirements. The ride would feature a conductor and offer the hospitality of an attendant serving soft drinks and certain snacks offered by a local vendor. (Of course, as with any other passenger railroad or tour bus system, refreshments brought on board would be allowed.) The passengers would enjoy a quiet, smooth ride without the familiar Topeka chuckholes and bumps.

Dos Mundos is the first media outlet to publicize the Topeka streetcar movement and what it’ll offer. The Hispanic community is so important in Topeka that when Dos Mundos began offering its publication to Topeka’s residents, it became important for this writer to scoop his own newspaper to enlighten Hispanics about it. Topeka’s Hispanic community is talented and includes many brilliant entrepreneurs, and it’s predicted Hispanics will play a central role in the success of the east end of Topeka’s projected streetcar loop.

All Hispanics should send their comments about the streetcar idea to the Dos Mundos editor. The paper would like to publish some of its readers’ ideas, so they can become part of the most important economic development movement in Topeka’s history.

Of course, because you expect something bad to happen, you’ll never dare to actually do it. Instead of anticipating the worst possible outcome, have faith and expect the best results!

Let go of your fears!

ué asuntos te quedaron pendientes el año pasado?

Seguramente hubo muchas decisiones en el 2010 que querías tomar pero no tomaste, cambios que anhelabas hacer pero no hiciste, sueños que deseabas alcanzar pero no perseguiste o riesgos que debiste enfrentar pero evadiste. Te pregunto: ¿qué te detuvo a cumplir con tus planes? Sin duda, tienes una o varias excusas para justificar el por qué no pudiste ejecutar tus deseos. Tal vez tus pretextos fueron: “No era el mejor momento para hacerlo”, “No tuve tiempo”, “No tenía apoyo”, “No estaba preparado”, etc.

Cualquiera que sea tu excusa, ¡no es válida! pues realmente es un escudo para esconder tus temores. Si eres capaz de enfrentar tus miedos, te aseguro que el próximo año será el mejor de tu vida. A continuación explico tres pasos para lograrlo. #1 Pronostica prosperidad. Reflexiona en esa situación que te atemoriza. Tal vez sea subirte a un avión, acabar una mala relación o quizá tienes terror a hablar en público. Fíjate bien que el motivo por el cual tienes miedo es porque estás pronosticando que algo malo va a suceder. Obviamente si esperas que una situación desafortunada ocurra, nunca te atreverás a actuar. En vez de pronosticar los peores resultados, ¡ten fe y pronostica los mejores resultados! #2 Vive el presente. Una vez el temor te acapara no puedes vivir el momento actual. El miedo te trans-

porta al futuro y te hace pensar en los problemas que van a suceder si das un paso, o bien te traslada al pasado acordándote de desilusiones, o fracasos que tuviste anteriormente, haciéndote creer que pueden repetirse nuevamente. Cuando el miedo te envíe al futuro o al pasado, tienes que centralizarte haciéndote esta pregunta: ¿En este preciso momento estoy en peligro? Mira a tu alrededor y te darás cuenta que estás a salvo y no tienes nada que temer. Vivir el presente, te da la fortaleza para tomar riesgos y decisiones importantes. #3 Actua hoy. Si esperas a que tus temores desaparezcan para dar un paso, te quedarás esperando toda la vida y nunca lo harás. De hecho, mientras más esperes, más inseguro te vas a sentir. Lo único que aplaca al miedo es actuar. Por eso, aunque las rodillas te tiemblen, ¡tienes que lanzarte! Your anxiety catapults you into the future and you obsess about all the bad things that will happen if you take that first step – or you’re plunged into the past, remembering past disappointments or failures, convinced the same thing will happen again. When fear sends you into the future or the past, you have to center yourself and ask: “Am I in any danger right now?” Look around you and you’ll see you’re safe, with nothing to fear. Live in the present; it will give you the strength to take risks and make important decisions. *No. 3, take action today: If you wait until your fears have subsided before doing anything, you’ll spend your life waiting and never accomplish anything. In fact, the longer you wait, the more insecure you’ll feel. The one thing that conquers fear is action. So even if you’re shaking in your boots, make the leap! In the immortal words of Mark Twain: “Courage is not the absence of fear; it’s knowing how to control and master your fears.”

I hope the new year brings you courage, daring and bravado. The bigger your dreams, the bigger your fears will be, but the bigger your triumphs will be, too!

O’Neill fue un draEugene maturgo prolífico, cono-

cido por su uso del período vernáculo americano, que llevó la vida real al escenario y la elevó a una forma de arte.

Su prodigioso grueso de obras le granjeó 4 premios Pulitzer (uno otorgado en forma póstuma) en años separados y es representado regularmente a nivel mundial. Considerado en los círculos teatrales como el Shakespeare estadounidense, O’Neill fue el primer dramaturgo americano en ganar el premio Nobel de Literatura.

En 1947, Gerty Cori se convirtió en la primera mujer estadounidense en ganar el premio Nobel. Ella compartió el Nobel en Medicina con su esposo Carl por su investigación en el metabolismo de los hidratos de carbono y enzimas. Sus hallazgos juegan un papel importante en la comprensión y tratamiento de la diabetes.

Mario Molina, el primer químico mexicano-americano en ganar un premio Nobel, lo compartió en Química con otros dos científicos. Ellos fueron los primeros en adelantar la noción de que los clorofluorocarbonos (CFCs) estaban reduciendo la capa de ozono de la Tierra. Su investigación dio como resultado en 1978 la prohibición del gobierno de EE.UU. del uso de CFCs como propulsores del aerosol.

Albert Baez fue un físico.

Como graduado de la Universidad Stanford, desarrolló con su profesor el microscopio de reflexión de rayos X; el cual, por más de 60 años, ha sido una herramienta vital de imagen para estudiar células vivas – y recientemente, galaxias. Él también fue autor de libros de texto de Física y llevó a cabo una misión de por vida para mejorar universalmente la enseñanza de las Matemáticas y Física y pro-

movió la paz.

Su hija es la legendaria cantante folclórica y compositora Joan Baez. A los 70 años, la “reina de la música folclórica” ganadora del Grammy todavía atrae multitudes en países en el todo el mundo.

La activista permanente por la paz, la justicia social y los derechos civiles, también fundó el Instituto para el Estudio de la No-violencia en California.

David Glasgow Farragut fue el primer almirante de la Naval de EE.UU. y héroe de la Unión en la Guerra Civil. Su impresionante triunfo sirvió de peso para el caso para construir la Naval.

Algunos de nuestros estimados legisladores federales harían bien en renovar sus conocimientos de los relatos de estos grandes americanos.

Y todos nosotros podríamos reflexionar en cuán fácilmente la gloria de los descubrimientos de estas luminarias y sus contribuciones, podrían haber venido en sus países de origen, si la preferencia de nuestro Congreso actual hubiera custodiado los portales de la inmigración estadounidense.

Varias veces ha fallado en su intento por ser aprobada. Si esta legislación fuera aprobada, crearía un camino hacia la ciudadanía para algunos de los inmigrantes indocumentados de la nación que vinieron a este país como niños al completar 2 años de universidad o de servicio en el ejército de EE.UU.; e incorporaría nuestra inversión en su educación primaria y secundaria y sacaría provecho de su capacitación y talento natural.

Afortunadamente, muchas esperanzas se resisten a morir.

La decepción sigue revigorizado la campaña de la ley DREAM, poniendo sobre aviso los votos negativos del congreso.

Editorial by Clara Reyes ugene O’Neill was a prolific dramatist, noted for his use of period American vernacular, bringing real life to the stage and elevating it to an art form.

His prodigious body of work won him four Pulitzer Prizes (one awarded posthumously) in separate years and is regularly performed worldwide.

Regarded in theatrical circles as the American Shakespeare, O’Neill was the first American playwright to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

In 1947, Gerty Cori became the first American woman Nobel Prize winner. She shared the Nobel Prize in Medicine with her husband Carl for their research on carbohydrate metabolism and enzymes. Their findings played an important role in understanding and treating diabetes.

Mario Molina, the first Mexican-American chemist to win a Nobel science prize, shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with two other scientists. They were the first to advance the notion

that chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were depleting the Earth’s ozone layer.

Their research resulted in the U.S. government’s 1978 ban on the use of CFCs as aerosol propellants.

Albert Baez was a physicist. As a Stanford University graduate student, Baez developed with his professor the X-ray reflection microscope. For more than 60 years, it’s been a vital imaging tool for studying living cells – and recently, galaxies.

Baez also authored physics textbooks and carried out a lifelong mission to improve science and math education universally and promote peace.

Baez’s daughter is the legendary American folksinger and songwriter Joan Baez. At age 70, the Grammy Awardwinning “queen of folk music” still draws crowds in countries worldwide.

Also a lifelong activist for peace, social justice and civil rights, she founded the Institute for the Study of Nonviolence in California.

The achievements of these folks in their respective fields have improved conditions for generations worldwide and invited universal respect for the United States. They were all immigrants to our great country or children of immigrants.

Some of our esteemed federal lawmakers would do well to renew their acquaintance with the narratives of these great Americans. And we all might reflect on how easily the glory of these luminaries’ discoveries and contributions could’ve been visited on their native countries, had the likes of our current Congress guarded the portals of American immigration.

Last year on many occasions this measure was considered by the congress but fail to pass.

The legislation can created a path to citizenship for some of the nation’s undocumented immigrants who came to this country as children by completing two years in college or the U.S. military. It would build on our investment in their elementary and secondary education and capitalize on their training and natural talent.

Thankfully, high hopes die hard. Disappointment has re-invigorated the DREAM Act campaign, putting congressional no votes on notice.

Deporte Ejercicio, alimentación sana y disciplina, crean buenos deportistas Por Hugo Jiménez

E

ste es el caso de Raúl Muñoz, un joven deportista originario de León, Guanajuato, que nació el 12 de marzo de 1976.

Siendo niño, admiraba a los boxeadores de las películas y de la televisión. No perdía la oportunidad de verlos y creció con esa inquietud.

Desde los 14 años, se propuso incursionar en este deporte, obteniendo su primer campeonato regional en Kansas City, peleando contra un contrincante de la ciudad de Washington. Le ganó con un gancho al hígado, por lo que obtuvo su primer trofeo.

Un año más tarde, volvió a ganar.

A los 16 años, ya se le autorizaban peleas con cualquier contrincante, sin importar la edad, sólo el peso de ambos peleadores.

En 1991 y 1992 obtuvo otro campeonato regional con un boxeador de California a quien derrotó en el 3er. round por nocaut; y se fue especializando en perfeccionar su estrategia de castigo en la parte hepática.

En el 92, fue invitado para pelear en la ciudad de Arizona; y no pudo hacerlo pues no cubría la edad necesaria y quedó esa gran oportunidad en manos de Óscar de la Hoya, a quien tuvo el gusto de tratar personalmente.

Después le siguieron

buenas oportunidades en su exitosa carrera. Él ha peleado con campeones de talla mundial como Héctor Camacho. En 2007, lo hizo contra Yoriboy Campa, Alfonso Gómez y el más destacado con el ahijo de su ídolo Julio César Chávez: Julio César Chávez Jr. Así es como se ha desarrollado con gran éxito en su vida deportiva. Ha conocido diferentes clubs en Washington, Florida, Nueva York, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Filadelfia, Las Vegas, etc. Tiene en promedio 35 peleas, tanto amateur como profesional.

Through exercise, nutrition and discipline, Munoz has turned that passion into a boxing career.

Born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the 34-year-old fighter began pursuing his passion at age 14, when he obtained his first regional championship in the Kansas City area by defeating an opponent from Wa s h i n g ton, D.C., with a hook to the liver. A year later, he won again.

During the early 1990s, Munoz won a regional championship against a boxer from California, whom he defeated by a third-round knockout. In 1992, he was invited to fight in Arizona, but couldn’t because he wasn’t old enough. Instead, the oppor-

tunity went to Oscar De la Hoya, whom Munoz has met.

Since then, Munoz has fought world champions such as Hector Camacho. In 2007, he fought Yoriboy Campa, Alfonso Gomez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the son of his idol, Julio Cesar Chavez. Munoz has 35 fights as an amateur and a professional.

Munoz encourages young readers of Dos Mundos to pursue any sport. He also suggests they include in their diet healthy amounts of proteins, vitamin C, salads, white meats and boiled vegetables, and to drink liquids – juice and water – to replace the sweat and salt that’s lost in exercise. He recommends they eat limited amounts of red meat.

Munoz’s training regimen includes daily runs between 4 and 5 miles and training between two and three hours Monday-Saturday at the gym, where he lifts weights, hits the punching bag, does sombra and practices his boxing. He relaxes on Sundays.

reo que todos en una u otra forma, frecuentemente hechamos a perder momentos importantes de nuestra vida; recordando afrentas, penas y rencores pasados que seguimos sufriendo aún después de muchos años y de pilón lastimando a quienes nos quieren, sin contar las complicaciones surgidas en nuestra vida por esta causa, y que a veces ya ni siquiera encontramos personas a quien culpar por esto. Pero siempre surgen las exclamaciones tan trilladas: “si hubiera…”

“Si hubiera obedecido a mis padres, sería otra persona diferente”; “Si hubiera ahorrado, sería rico”; “Si mis padres no se hubieran divorciado, yo no…”; “Si no hubiera roto…”; “Si no hubiera insultado a …”; “Si no me hubieran golpeado…”.

En fin, puras exlamaciones inútiles, recordando como serían diferentes las cosas. ¡Nada ganamos!

Perdón, sí ganamos…. puros sentimientos negativos que nos hacen sufrir y cometer errores, que nos conducen a vivir con rencor; y nos hacen olvidar la bendición del perdonar y olvi-

dar. ¿Resultados? Errores y más errores, que los jovenes dicen son porque ya estamos viejos.

Pero también, hay jovenes que actúan y viven como si tuvieran muchos años; y se defienden diciendo que no tienen arrugada la piel como los viejitos.

Bueno, es lógico pensar que los años arrugan la piel, ni duda cabe. Pero la falta de entusiasmo y confianza en sí mismos, el temor, la duda, la desesperación, la preocupación, los celos, el odio, el rencor, etc., arrugan el alma.

CONCLUSIÓN: Los años arrugan la piel y uno mismo arruga el alma; entonces la juventud no es cuestión de tiempo, es un estado de nuestra mente.

En otras palabras, somos tan jóvenes como la confianza y seguridad en uno mismo; y tan viejos como nuestros temores.

Somos tan jovenes como nuestra esperanza y tan viejos como nuestra desesperación.

No es mala idea aconsejar a los jóvenes que abran los ojos y evitaren arrugar su alma; y a los no tan jóvenes, sugerirles que den una desarrugadita a su

águila es un ave que llega a vivir 70 años.

A los 40 años, debe tomar una seria y difícil decisión. Sus uñas están apretadas y flexibles y no consiguen atrapar a sus presas.

Su pico largo y puntiagudo se curva apuntando contra su pecho. Sus alas están envejecidas y pesadas debido a sus plumas gruesas. Volar se le hace ya muy difícil. Entonces el águila tiene 2 alternativas: morir o enfrentar un proceso doloroso de renovación que durará 150 días. Este proceso consiste en volar hacia lo alto de una montaña y quedarse ahí, en un nido cercano a un paredón, en donde no tenga la necesidad de volar. Después de encontrar ese lugar, comienza a golpear su pico en la pared hasta arrancarlo. Luego, debe esperar el crecimiento de uno nuevo, con el que desprenderá una a una sus uñas. Cuando las nuevas comienzan a nacer, empezará a quitarse las plumas viejas. A los 5 meses, sale a su vuelo de renovación a vivir 30 años más como águila joven.

En nuestra vida alguna vez tenemos que resguardarnos por un tiempo y comenzar un proceso de renovación y desprendernos de costumbres, tradiciones y recuerdos que nos causaron dolor o nos hacen daño. Solamente libres del peso del pasado que nos hace daño, podemos seguir siendo jóvenes.

No supongan que les recomiendo romperse la “trompita” en el cerro como las águilas.

Simplemente les sugiero que piensen en actitudes, costumbres, sentimientos y adicciones dañinos y luchen contra ellos.

Siempre encontrarán personas que los orienten y así siempre serán jovenes y nosotros menos viejos.

Ustedes decidan, son…

LITTLE THING TO CONSIDER

A

ll of us in one form or another throw away important moments in our lives by remembering grudges, regrets and hard feelings and hurting those who love us, without considering the complications that arise in our lives.

There are always the commonly-uttered words: “If I had ...”. “If I had listened to my parents, I would be a different person.”

“If I had saved, I would be rich.” “If my parents hadn’t gotten a divorce, I wouldn’t ...”. “If I hadn’t broken ...”. “If I hadn’t insulted ...”. “If they hadn’t hit me ...”.

Those are merely useless exclamations. We don’t win anything with them!

Excuse me, we do win. We win grudges that make us suffer and make mistakes, that lead us to live with hard feelings and make us forget the blessing of forgiving and forgetting.

It’s logical to think age wrinkles the skin. There’s no doubt about that. But a lack of enthusiasm and trust in yourself, fear, doubt, desperation, worry, jealousy, hate and grudges wrinkle the soul.

Conclusion: If years wrinkle the skin and the person wrinkles the soul, then youth isn’t a state of time, but rather, a state of mind.

In other words, we are as young as our trust and confidence in ourselves and as old as our fears. We are as young as our hope and as old as our despair.

It’s a good idea to counsel the young to open their eyes and avoid wrinkling their skin. But the not-soyoung also should suggest to them to get the wrinkles out of their souls, remembering the wisdom of the eagle.

The eagle lives up to 70 years. At 40 years, it must make a serious, difficult decision. Its claws have become tight and inflexible and can’t trap its prey. Its wings are aged and heavy because of its thick feathers. Flying becomes difficult.

Therefore, it has two alternatives: die or face the painful process of change that lasts 150 days. This process consists of flying to the top of a mountain and remaining there, in a nest near a rock face, where it won’t have to fly.

After finding that place, it starts to hit its beak against the rock face until it comes off. Then, it must wait for the growth of the new one, which it will use to remove its claws individually.

When the new ones

begin to grow, it’ll begin to remove the old feathers.

Five months afterward, it takes flight to live another 30 years as a young eagle.

At some point in our lives, we must shelter ourselves for some time and begin a process of renovation and detach our customs, traditions and memories that might cause us pain or might hurt us. Only when we are free from the weight of the past that damages us can we continue being young.

Don’t take this as advising you to break off your “beak” atop a hill like the eagle. I simply suggest you consider the negative attitudes, feelings and addictions and fight against them. You’ll always find people to help guide you – and in that way, you’ll always be young.

You decide. These are little things to consider.
