n nuevo informe del Pew Research Center indica que el número de inmigrantes indocumentados que viven en los Estados Unidos es el total más bajo en una década.

“En 2017, hubo 10.5 millones de inmigrantes no autorizados en Estados Unidos, incluidos 4.9 millones de mexicanos”, señala el informe. “La disminución de los nacidos en México fue el factor principal para reducir la población general de inmigrantes no autorizados en EE.UU., que en 2017 fue 1.7 millones por debajo de su máximo de 12.2 millones en 2007”.

“In 2017, there were 10.5 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S., including 4.9 million Mexicans,” the report states. “The decrease in the Mexican born was the major factor driving down the overall population of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S., which in 2017 was 1.7 million below its peak of 12.2 million in 2007.”

According to the report, the number of Mexican undocumented immigrants declined because more people left than those who arrived. However, the 2017 data shows there has been a growth in undocumented immigrants coming from Central America.

According to statistics from the Mexican National Center for HIV/AIDS Control and Prevention and Control, the number of diagnoses has almost tripled since 2010. In almost nine years, the number of HIV-positive cases in Mexicans between the ages of 15 and 34 increased by 284 percent.

In 2018 only, there were 10,701 HIV-positive cases and 6,287 AIDS diagnoses. That same year, UNICEF attributed this situation to the fact that teens do not have much knowledge about HIV and risky behaviors, such as having sex without a condom.

Since the first person was diagnosed with AIDS in Mexico in 1983 until March 2019, there have been 205,351 HIV cases noted.

The group of six lawyers traveled to the Clint facility as part of an ongoing litigation monitoring whether the Trump administration is complying with the 1997 Flores Settlement Agreement. The agreement requires that the federal government keep immigrant children in “safe and sanitary” conditions while they are in custody. It also requires children to be transferred quickly out of detention.

W. Warren Binford, one of the attorneys who visited the facility, told the Washington Post that some children had been detained for as many as three weeks, even though by law they are supposed to be transferred to the custody of Health and Human Services within three days. Federal officials said that more than 350 children were detained at the Clint facility.

Other irregularities the attorneys found included kids who had showered or brushed their teeth only once or twice in three weeks.

In addition, they did not have access to private bathrooms, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Elora Mukherjee, director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School and one of the visiting attorneys, told The New York Times that the children were locked in their cells “nearly all day long.”

“A few of the kids said they had some opportunities to go outside and play, but they said they can’t bring themselves to play because they are trying to stay alive in there,” she said.

Although President Trump keeps insisting the situation has reached this point because of Congress’ failure to send aid, Binford told the Post that not releasing the children, per the Flores agreement, is a failure of the government.

Not releasing the children means they are kept in overcrowded facilities meant for adults, with some even sleeping on cold concrete because there are not enough beds and mats.

On Monday (June 24), authorities had confirmed that hundreds of migrant children had been transferred out of the Clint station. But

by Tuesday (June 25), the U.S. government returned 100 of them to the station, citing a lack of options, multiple media outlets reported.

That same day, John Sanders, acting commissioner of CBP, announced he is stepping down amid the outrage.

According to the National Summer Learning Association, (https://www.summerlearning. org/) students, on average, lose two to three months of reading skills, and low-income students lose up to five months progress in reading.

Encouraging reading needn’t be onerous or boring or intrude on summer’s carefree quality. Reading and participating in readingrelated activities can be fun and exciting for kids and actually add to their vacation enjoyment.

July 8-12 has been designated National Summer Learning Week. It’s dedicated to keeping kids learning, safe and healthy so they can return to school in August ready to succeed. There’s a Summer Learning Week Event tracker and reading book lists for kids from birth up compiled by the Association for Library Service to Children and lots of additional resources.

All the local library systems have summer reading programs with contests, fun activities, complimentary books and other incentives to keep kids reading. This year’s theme, “A Universe of Stories,” commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program (https://www.cslpreads.org/programs/ childrens-program/yearly-program/) is a charitable organization that supports literacy, education and science through summer reading events in the nation’s public libraries.

Every year, the nonprofit creates a relevant theme and designs programming materials and resources for libraries to guide their summer reading challenges and supporting activities.

Participating in the summer reading programs’ complimentary educational and cultural enrichment activities impacts youngsters positively, the Collaborative advises. It motivates kids to read; helps them develop a positive attitude about reading, books and libraries; helps them maintain and even strengthen their reading skills; and take part in experiences that further their sense of discovery and teach them how to work cooperatively.

The problem is we don’t have the $6,500 registration fee just lying around. My husband and I are on Baby Step 4 of your plan, so what would you think about us borrowing that amount from our emergency fund? We would still have three months of expenses set aside after paying for the class.

Camille Dear Camille, I don’t know the exact course you’re talking about, but I do know something about the concept of buying and selling stocks, or day trading, if you want to call it that. I can tell you all the research shows 78 to 84 percent of day traders lose money. And one hundred percent think they won’t be the ones losing out. That includes people who take courses like the one you mentioned.

I have found no data points which show, on a consistent level across a broad population, that people who take a course like that become wealthy as a result. Buying and selling single stocks is an ultra-high-risk proposition. That’s why I don’t buy any single stocks. Now, I know some people who buy and sell single stocks as a very small percentage of their financial world. It’s almost like a hobby for them. A couple might actually make a little money from time to time, but it’s not the main focus of their investment strategy. To hear them, it’s like listening to fishing stories. They’re always talking about the one that got away.

I wouldn’t waste my money on the course, Camille—especially my emergency fund money. Your emergency fund is for, say it with me, emergencies only!

“The horrors that keep happening on our border are part of a calculated plan by this administration, that only worries about its own interest and doesn’t take into account the human cost its decisions have had,” Sandra Cordero, director of Families Belong Together, a coalition fighting against Trump’s immigration policies, said in a statement.

The reports documenting dismal conditions at ICE centers have prompted an outcry from immigrant advocates, who say the Trump administration is pushing a growing number of immigrants into a system that is not prepared to care for them.

Katharina Obser, senior policy adviser at the Women’s Refugee Commission, told NBC News that America is seeing a “reckless and unprecedented expansion” of a system that is costly and harmful.

“The U.S. government is not even doing the bare minimum to ensure (immigrants) are getting the medical care and the mental health care they need,” she told NBC News.

The recent deaths come as the number of immigrants in federal custody reaches a record high. As of early June, ICE was detaining more than 52,500 immigrants a day.

Provost was not the only one who found Ocasio-Cortez’s comments offensive. Several Republican lawmakers were reportedly upset, too.

The congresswoman used Twitter to defend her comment.

“We are calling these camps what they are because they fit squarely in an academic consensus and definition,” she tweeted. “History will be kind to those who stood up to this injustice. So say what you will. Kids are dying and I’m not here to make people feel comfortable about that.”

Although Ocasio-Cortez has been criticized, she has the support of others, including an Overland Park, Kansas, resident, who spoke to Dos Mundos on the condition of anonymity.

“Her comments were strong, and maybe we can’t compare the Border Patrol facilities with the things that were lived (through) during the Holocaust,” the resident said. “However, the reality is that there are children in cages that are not with their parents and are dying. I support her views and I hope the government takes action.”

ith crowds of unfamiliar people and loud, scary noises, the Fourth of July can make even the most laid-back, fourlegged family members apprehensive and unpredictable.

“Research shows that more pets are lost on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year and animal shelters are most crowded after the holiday, filled with lost dogs and cats,” said Aimee Gilbreath, executive director of Michelson Found Animals Foundation. “Taking steps to protect your pet can help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for the whole family.”

These tips can help keep your pet comfortable and secure: 1. Get identification tags. A collar and external ID tags are quick and easy ways to identify your pet if lost, and they make him or her instantly recognizable as someone’s pet. What information you provide on the tags may vary depending on your personal security concerns, but at the very least, include a phone number.

If you’re concerned about noisy dangling tags, or the tags snagging and pulling loose, choose a flat style that affixes to the fabric of the collar.

2. Get your pet a microchip and register it. A registered microchip is one of the best ways to identify a lost pet that has slipped out of his or her collar. However, pet owners may falsely assume that just because their pet has a microchip, they’ve taken the necessary steps. It’s critical your pet’s microchip is registered with your current contact information, and Found Animals recommends updating your contact info anytime you move or change phone numbers. If you’ve adopted your pet from a rescue or other organization, it’s important to transfer the chip registration. Register your pet’s microchip for free at found.org.

3. Avoid the crowds. Avoid bringing your pooch to crowded events, parades and other gatherings with a lot of commotion or people. A combination of heat, loud noises, packed spaces and scorching blacktops can be stressful and harmful to your pet’s health. It’s especially wise to avoid bringing your pets to firework events, as they could panic and run.

4. Gear up with a leash and harness. Even leash-trained pets can get spooked by Fourth of July festivities. Secure pets with a well-fitting leash and collar or harness. Remember an anxious pet may slip out of a collar or repeatedly tug against a leash, so it may be necessary to take extra precautions.

5. Fit in a workout. Be sure to give your pets lots of exercise during the day so they’ll be a little worn out before the scary noises start at night. A long run or play session during the day may help with your pet’s overall stress and anxiety levels.

6. Create a safe space inside and away from fireworks. Confining movement in dogs and cats actually has a calming effect on them. Provide your pet with a safe space, such as a cozy bed, room or crate. Also close windows and doors to minimize sound and escape routes. Another option is an anti-anxiety wrap or coat. In a pinch, if you’re away from home, you can even create one from a scarf.

7. Try a calming aid. If you’re worried about a pet that stresses easily, talk to your vet in advance about CBD and anti-anxiety treats, chews, drops or other remedies that can help your pet relax. There are plenty of prescription and homeopathic solutions out there that can help your pet get the extra dose of relaxation he or she needs.

Expert gives tips on how to improve men’s health

une is Men’s Health Month — a time to remind men to make their wellness a priority.

Statistics show that nearly 71 percent of men are at risk of being overweight or obese, compared to 59 percent of women.

Moreover, far more women are likely to go to a doctor’s office than men.

The greatest threats to men’s health include heart disease, cancer, unintentional injuries, chronic lower respiratory disease and strokes, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Raudel Garcia, a physician with MedExpress Urgent Care, said there are ways to reduce the risk of contracting those diseases.

“If we make small changes in our daily life, we can significantly reduce the risk,” he said.

Changes men can make include watching their diet by avoiding processed foods and eating more fruits, vegetables and lean meats; aiming to do about 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five days a week; and cutting back on sodium. Most sodium comes from eating fast food, processed meats and restaurant food.

“It is also very important to learn how to handle stress,” Garcia said.

In addition, Garcia recommends getting screened for obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and sexually transmitted diseases.

For Garcia, men do not go to the doctor as often because, historically, they put other things as priorities, such as providing for their families. But the best way for men to be healthy is to visit a doctor regularly, he said.

“Patients must be aware about when to see their family doctor — or if they don’t have one, find one to maintain themselves on top of their health,” Garcia said.

Norberto and Mexico’s 17,000 Dead Norberto y 17 Mil Muertos Más

N

o hay otros datos. Las cifras a las que tiene acceso el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador son exactamente las mismas que tengo yo y las que puede ver cualquier ciudadano mexicano. Y los números indican que el 2019 podría convertirse en el año más violento en la historia moderna de México.

Voy a los gravísimos datos en un momento.

Pero quiero empezar con la triste historia del estudiante Norberto Ronquillo, quien hace poco fue secuestrado y asesinado tras salir de su universidad en la Ciudad de México. La mamá de Norberto, Norelia Hernández, me contó en una entrevista que el día del secuestro ella estaba en el cine cuando recibió un texto de su hermana que decía “URGE”. Poco después recibiría los detalles del secuestro: “Tienen a Junior [Norberto]”.

Los secuestradores “hicieron muchas llamadas, no sé cuántas en total”, me contó Norelia. “Era como de espanto. ‘Aquí lo tenemos y junta dinero’ [le decían los plagiarios por teléfono]. Era una palabra y le colgaban, y luego dos palabras y le colgaba”. Nada funcionó. El cuerpo de Norberto fue encontrado estrangulado, con huellas de tortura.

“Yo no quiero que esto se haga político”, me dijo Norelia. “En verdad créeme que yo sólo pedí encontrar a mi hijo. ... Yo le pedí mucho a Dios que no quería que mi hijo fuera una cifra más de desaparecidos”.

Y no lo fue. Pero la trágica muerte de Norberto sí terminará en las estadísticas oficiales de secuestros y asesinatos.

Contrario a la versión gubernamental, los homicidios dolosos no están disminuyendo.

Mayo es el mes más violento del sexenio de López Obrador con 2.903 muertes.

En los primeros seis meses de gobierno de AMLO han sido asesinados 17.010 mexicanos, según cifras oficiales de homicidios dolosos.

Más de 30 millones de mexicanos votaron por un cambio hace casi un año. El cambio, claro, tiene que ver con la lucha frontal contra la corrupción y la imperiosa necesidad de combatir la desigualdad en México. Pero también con controlar los altísimos niveles de criminalidad.

Eso sigue siendo uno de los grandes retos de López Obrador.

Entiendo que la creación de la Guardia Nacional es la principal apuesta para reducir el crimen y que, para eso, se necesita más tiempo. Pero claramente lo que el gobierno de López Obrador ha hecho hasta el momento es insuficiente. En lugar de perseguir a inmigrantes

More on those terrible numbers below. But first I want to tell you about the sad story of Norberto Ronquillo, a university student who was recently kidnapped and murdered in

Mexico City.

Norberto’s mom, Norelia Hernández, told me in an interview about the day she found out her son had been kidnapped. She was at the movies and her sister sent her a text: “URGENT.” Then her sister revealed the horrible news: “Some people are holding Junior [Norberto].”

The kidnappers “called several times; exactly how many, I don’t know,” Norelia told me. “I felt like [I was] in some kind of horror movie.

‘We have him here; get the money.’ They would say one word and hang up, or two words and hang up.”

Nothing seemed to work. Then Norberto’s body was found. He had been tortured and strangled.

“I don’t want this to be made into a political thing,” Norelia told me. “Really, my sole concern

Todas las regiones del país están sufriendo. La ciudad de México, que algunos creían blindada de la violencia de otras partes de la república, ha tenido seis meses terribles. De diciembre del

2018 a mayo del 2019 fueron asesinadas 923 personas. Esto es más que las 663 que murieron de junio a noviembre del 2018.

Urge hacer algo al respecto, tanto en la ciudad de México como en el resto del país. Pero, la verdad, nadie sabe cómo.

Aarón Ronquillo, hermano de Norberto, estaba acompañando a su mamá durante la entrevista. ¿Es peligroso ser joven en México? le pregunté.

“Lamentablemente — hablo por mí y por todos los jóvenes — sí nos da un poco de inseguridad salir por salir a cualquier lado; a cines, a cafés, a bares”, me dijo Aarón. “Hay demasiados casos de violencia aquí en nuestro país y, lamentablemente, le tocó vivir uno de los peores a la persona que más quería”.

Unfortunately, Norberto’s tragic death will be added to Mexico’s official kidnapping and murder statistics. Contrary to what the government says, the homicide rate isn’t declining. In fact, May proved to be the most violent month in López Obrador’s young administration, with 2,903 people killed. In the first six months of AMLO’s presidency, 17,010 Mexicans have been killed, according to recently updated government figures.

Almost one year ago, over 30 million Mexicans voted for change in the nation’s presidential election. I won’t deny that such change should include an end to corruption and extreme inequality. But it must also include reining in Mexico’s alarmingly high crime rates. This is one of AMLO’s biggest challenges, and he has failed so far to deliver.

The new National Guard, formed by López Obrador explicitly to fight crime, is persecuting innocent immigrants instead of tracking down real criminals. The original plan for the National Guard certainly never included stopping Central American migrants from crossing Mexico’s southern border. But that’s now part of the organization’s duties, thanks to President Donald Trump and AMLO’s recent immigration deal. This is absurd and will only waste resources urgently needed in other parts of the country.

None of this means that we’re being any harder on López Obrador than we were on past presidents. We also kept track of the murders committed under Enrique Peña Nieto and his predecessor, Felipe Calderón. Nearly 123,000 people were killed during Peña Nieto’s six-year term, while roughly 102,000 were murdered during Calderón’s six-year term.

We only want to know this: At what point should López Obrador be deemed responsible for the violence in Mexico?

After six months in power? After one year?

No region in Mexico is free from crime. Some believed that Mexico City would be spared the violence that is so common in other parts of the country.

But the last six months have been a cruel reality check: Between December and May, 923 people were killed in the city, a significant increase from the 663 killed between last June and November.

Something must be done — and urgently — not only in Mexico City but nationwide. The unfortunate truth, however, is that nobody knows what to do.

When I interviewed Norberto’s mother I also spoke to his brother, Aaron Ronquillo. “Is it dangerous to be young in Mexico?” I asked him.

“Sadly, and I mean this from my perspective and from that of every other young person, we do feel that we aren’t safe when we go out,” he responded. “It doesn’t matter if we go to the cinema, to a café or to a bar. We hear about too many cases of violence in our country and, regrettably, the person I loved the most had to endure one of the worst.”

The grant will be used to help pay for the salary of the lead teacher in the ELL preschool at the Center of Grace. Our preschool serves the children of the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) ESL program. While the parents attend English classes, their children are also learning English and getting ready for kindergarten.

“We are excited to receive this generous grant from the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Development Fund. Grant funding has allowed us to keep providing great programs for our immigrant community, since becoming an independent 501c3, non-for-profit organization, in 2017,” noted Marilyn George, the chair of the Center’s Board of Directors.

The Greater Kansas City Hispanic Development Fund’s mission is to improve the quality of life of Latino families in Greater Kansas City by engaging the Latino community in philanthropy to build stronger communities through grantmaking and scholarship support.

Since then, the president has used undocumented immigrants to try to bargain Democrats into approving funds for border security. Immigration rights advocates claim it is a similar tactic to the one Trump used recently to get a better deal from Mexico’s government on border security.

Typically, large-scale operations like the one planned for Sunday are not disclosed to the public or media, CBS reported. The media outlet added that the main objective of the operations might have been to scare immigrants out of coming from Latin America to the United States.

In related news, the immigration rights organization RAICES advises undocumented immigrants that, in the event their home or workplace is raided, they have the following rights: to request to speak to an attorney, to remain silent, to not allow unlawful searches

by ICE agents and to not open the door to federal agents. Moreover, according to RAICES, undocumented immigrants are not required to sign any documents presented to them by federal agents.

“Fuego y Sangre”, el primero de dos volúmenes, está situado 300 años antes de los eventos de “Una Canción de Hielo y Fuego”, y cuenta la historia de la Casa Targaryen, la única familia de señores de los dragones que sobrevivió a la Maldición de Valyria, y que se asentó en Dragonstone. “Fuego y Sangre” comienza su relato con el legendario Aegon el Conquistador, creador del Trono de Hierro, y continúa relatando las generaciones de Targaryens que lucharon conservar el poder y el trono, hasta la guerra civil que casi acaba con su dinastía.

El segundo volumen todavía no ha sido publicado.

“Fire & Blood.”

“Hanging around the world” Turisteando por el Mundo

ienvenidos turistas, en esta edición nos toca hablar de una ciudad de nuestro país vecino México, sede principal de la industria aeronáutica en el país, además de una de las ciudades con mayor PIB en todo México: nos referimos a Santiago de Querétaro, México. Fundada en el año 1531 por Fernando Tapia, cuenta con cerca de 700 mil habitantes mientras que su área metropolitana cuenta con poco más de 1 millón de habitantes.

La ciudad fue una fuerte impulsora de los movimientos de Independencia de México.

Aquí se llevó a cabo lo que se le conoce como la Conspiración de Querétaro, en donde se planeó para diciembre de 1810 el levantamiento de Independencia, pero dado a que fue descubierta esta conspiración se tuvo que adelantar 3 meses el movimiento de Independencia a septiembre de 1810. La zona de Monumentos Históricos de Querétaro fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en el año 1996.

In this edition, we have to talk about a city in our neighboring country Mexico, which is the main headquarters of the aeronautical industry in the country, as well as one of the cities with the highest GDP in all of Mexico: We are talking about Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico. Founded in 1531 by Fernando Tapia, it has about 700,000 inhabitants while its metropolitan area has just over one million inhabitants.

The city was a strong promoter of Mexico’s independence movements. Here took place what is known as the Conspiracy of Queretaro, where the uprising of independence was planned for December 1810, but given that this conspiracy was discovered, the independence movement had to be moved three months earlier to September 1810. The Historical Monuments area of Queretaro was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.

En cuanto a la gastronomía, no te olvides de probar las famosas enchiladas queretanas las cuales son tortillas enrolladas rellenas de queso, carne de pollo o cerdo y bañadas en una salsa de chile guajillo sobre una cama de lechuga y luego se bañan con trozos de papa, cebolla y nopales. Además como bebida no dejes de probar el atole de aguamiel, bebida a base de fécula de maíz con el sabor del aguamiel la cual es la savia que contienen los magueyes. El costo promedio de una comida es de $6 con postre incluido.

Los sitios que deberás conocer en tu próxima visita por las tierras queretanas son los siguientes:

El acueducto, monumental edificación a lo largo de la ciudad. Este monumento cuenta con 74 arcos que alcanzan una altura de casi 30 metros y fue creado entre el año 1726 y 1735 con el fin de llevar más y mejor agua a toda la ciudad ya que esta carecía de agua limpia para beber y cocinar principalmente. Este bello monumento de arcos tiene una longitud superior a 1.3km y a pesar de tener casi 300 años de edad se conserva en excelente estado, es por ello que es uno de los patrimonios declarados por UNESCO. Ideal para tomarse al menos una foto bajo sus arcos.

Recinto de Honor a las Personas Ilustres de Querétaro, este panteón hace homenaje a grandes personajes de la historia de la ciudad. Junto al acueducto se encuentra el mirador de la ciudad, punto ideal para tener una perfecta perspectiva de la ciudad. Justo enfrente se encuentra este lindo panteón en el cual se encuentran los restos y además algunas cuantas esculturas de algunos de los personajes más ilustres de la ciudad como la corregidora Doña Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, una de las conspiradoras que ayudó en la planeación de independencia.

Convento de la Santa Cruz, uno de los templos más importantes de la ciudad. El templo se construyó en el siglo XVII y aquí se preparó a los indígenas para ser evangelizados. Además del templo, como su nombre lo dice, es un convento en el cual actualmente aún hay frailes viviendo ahí y dando recorridos por todo el lugar. Lo interesante de este sitio es que cuenta con un árbol que da espinas en forma de cruz y en donde puedes conseguir una para llevarte como recuerdo. El costo del recorrido por todo el convento es de $2.

Centro Histórico, sitio en donde se encuentras todos los monumentos, casonas, y edificios que forman parte del Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad. No dejes de conocer todo este sitio a pie, disfrutar de la belleza de sus calles y la arquitectura que las rodea. Entra en sus museos y descubre un poco más de la historia que rodea a toda la ciudad. Visita la casa de la Corregidora Doña Josefa Ortiz, sitio que actualmente es el Palacio de Gobierno de la ciudad.

Peña de Bernal, es un pueblo que queda a 1 hora de distancia de Santiago de Querétaro. En este sitio encontrarás el tercer monolito más grande del mundo. Además podrás recorrer su lindo pueblo a pie, escalar la Peña o bien simplemente recargar energías. Muy cercano a este sitio se encuentran una gran cantidad de viñedos, por lo que puedes

Brasil se enfrentará a un Paraguay que sólo consiguió 2 puntos en la fase de grupos, y Argentina a una Venezuela que clasificó invicta.

Perú, que logró la clasificación como mejor tercero pese a caer goleado ante el anfitrión, se medirá ante Uruguay.

Here is a look at how the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries exited the quadrennial soccer tournament and how the predominantly English-speaking country advanced: *Argentina: After a 0-0 result against Japan June 10 and a 1-0 loss to England June 14, the Argentines finished Group D play June 19 with a 3-3 result against Scotland at the Parc des Princes. Argentina finished third in the group with two standings points and failed to reach the

knockout stage. *Brazil: For the sixth straight time, the Brazilians reached the knockout stage.

Although they placed third in Group C, their six standings points were enough for them to advance.

Alas, Brazil’s quest for a first Women’s World Cup title ended Sunday (June 23) at the Stade Oceane in the round of 16 with a 2-1 overtime loss to host nation France.

Brownfields are idle or underused properties whose reuse is complicated by real or perceived contamination. The Brownfields Commission is a Mayor-appointed body created by City ordinance to help redevelop brownfield properties. The Kansas City RLF, as advised by the Brownfields Commission, uses grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide loans and subgrants to clean up brownfields.

Community residents, neighborhood organizations, businesses, professionals, nonprofits, and government representatives are all encouraged to attend, learn and share.
