To help protect bees from extinction, try the following tips: *Plant a garden, particularly a flower garden: A garden will help bees find pollen and nectar. If you cannot plant a traditional in-the-ground garden, put several potted plants together outside your home. *Avoid treating your garden with pesticides: If you use chemical pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides, you are hurting bees. Use organic products instead. *Plant trees: Bees get food from trees, too. *Create a pot of water for bees: Like other creatures, bees need water to live. Fill a pot of clean water with stones inside so that bees can drink from it. This will refresh them and keep them hydrated during their travels. *Apply for grants: There are multiple grants offered to provide bee homes.

It has been a longtime dream of mine.” LUX by Mitzy offers items ranging from apparel to gifts, including gnomes, candles, cups and jewelry. The store features 11 area vendors, including Romero. Committed to her store, Romero works on creating new pieces and refining all details involved with owning a business on the days the store is closed. The most important lesson she has learned as an entrepreneur has been to take her downtime seriously, she said. LUX by Mitzy is a family business. Romero’s husband handles accounting and helps with some back-end work. Romero’s family members are the most important people in her life, which is why she finds time for family activities on Sundays, she said. Although Romero is happy to enjoy the moment of running her own business, she has plans to expand, she said. She also has plans to create unique events by hosting pop-ups with food trucks. Romero has a message for aspiring artists and entrepreneurs in the Hispanic community. “Don’t doubt yourself,” she said. “Don’t let anyone tell you not to do it or it will not work out. Our parents brought us here for a better life, so take chances and work hard! Do whatever makes you happy. Find a way to do it. I’m here to help in any way I can, whether it’s to offer advice or have you in for a pop-up at the store. todos nos ha pasado. Te invitan a una fiesta A y tú, a su vez, quieres llevar a tus amigos. Eso le ocurrió

al presidente de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Quiere llevar a la Cumbre de las Américas, que se realizará en Los Ángeles en junio, a los dictadores de Cuba, Venezuela y Nicaragua. Pero Estados Unidos, hasta ahora, ha puesto un alto: los matones no van a la fiesta. López Obrador, aparentemente muy entusiasmado tras su reciente viaje a La Habana, lanzó su advertencia: “Si se excluye, si no se invita a todos, va a ir una representación del gobierno de México, pero no iría yo”. Y luego explicó más: “No quiero que continúe la misma política en América y quiero, en los hechos, hacer valer la independencia, la soberanía y manifestarme por la fraternidad universal”. Suena muy bonito, muy solidario. El problema es que Cuba, Venezuela y Nicaragua son unas brutales y asesinas dictaduras. López Obrador quiere que inviten a la reunión de Los Ángeles a matones, torturadores, censores y represores. Y todo bajo el concepto de una sola América. Pero el gobierno de Joe Biden, el presidente estadounidense, ni se inmutó. Los tiranos de esas tres dictaduras siguen sin invitación. “No nos parece conveniente incluir a países que no respetan la democracia”, dijo Brian Nichols, el subsecretario de Estado para asuntos del hemisferio occidental. Es difícil entender qué gana López Obrador con su defensa de estas tres dictaduras. Por el contrario, genera una innecesaria tensión con Estados Unidos —su principal socio comercial— y crea más nerviosismo dentro de México sobre el compromiso del Presidente con la democracia. Hay quienes creen que no querrá dejar el poder en 2024 (algo que él ha negado reiteradamente).

Ortega lleva más de 15 años en el poder en Nicaragua tras una serie de elecciones fraudulentas. Varios excandidatos presidenciales —incluyendo Cristiana Chamorro— siguen encarcelados. —En Venezuela hubo más de 8700 ejecuciones extrajudiciales desde 2015, de acuerdo con la exfiscala Luisa Ortega. A esto hay que sumar al menos 250 personas que murieron en protestas contra Nicolás Maduro (según PROVEA) y alrededor de 240 prisioneros políticos (de acuerdo con Foro Penal). —Cuba es una de las dictaduras más antiguas del planeta. Solo ha tenido tres líderes en 63 años. No hay partidos políticos ni libertad de prensa. Y según Amnistía Internacional, al finalizar el año pasado había casi 700 prisioneros por participar en las “históricas protestas de julio” de 2021. AMLO aparentemente no quiere ver esto o está jugando a la neutralidad. Este es un debate muy importante. Se trata del futuro de México y del tipo de país que queremos. El Presidente asegura que él ya escogió su lado. “No es que lo haya escogido ahora; ya llevo mucho tiempo”, dijo en una conferencia de prensa. Pero López Obrador, quien tiene un muy bien desarrollado instinto político, se equivoca en esta discusión. Un Presidente que se dice comprometido con la democracia, que ganó democráticamente y que ha dicho “la democracia tiene que convertirse en México en un hábito”, debe estar del lado de las libertades y el respeto a los derechos humanos. He cubierto muchas ediciones de la Cumbre de las Américas y, es cierto, suelen estar llenas de discursos y escasas de resultados concretos. Sin embargo, siendo esta la primera reunión continental después de la pandemia, es fundamental para coordinar el crecimiento económico

Hubo una época, cuando Barack Obama era Presidente, en que circulaba la teoría de que más comercio, más contactos y más inversión ayudaría a la democratización de Cuba. Obama fue a la isla en 2016, se reestablecieron las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países… y luego no pasó nada. Cuba sigue siendo una férrea dictadura. Lo mismo ha ocurrido con Venezuela y Nicaragua: ni la presión internacional ni distintas estrategias de inversión han acercado la democracia a esos dos países. Por eso ya nadie cree que la presencia de Miguel Díaz-Canel, Nicolás Maduro y Daniel Ortega en Los Ángeles va a ayudar a terminar con las tiranías en sus países. Mom married the love of her life, Herman Garcia (aka ‘Punkin’), on November 17, 1951, and proceeded to have 10 children and adopting 4 more. Mom had many jobs in her lifetime but the one she most cherished was Posty Cards where she retired in 2007. Mom loved to see Elvis Presley movies, listen to Mexican music and was in fact a middle-aged groupie for our local band, Las Estrella’s. Always wanted to go to dances, fiestas and parties that Las Estrella’s played. She helped friends and family coordinate weddings, quince anos, baptismal and always recommending Las Estrella’s as the band to booked for their event. She was a deeply religious person who believed in her Catholic faith. She was the glue and cornerstone in our family. We always went to her for guidance’s and blessings. She is now with her beloved Punkin. She leaves her children, Herman, Jr. (Annabeth), Thomas (Patty), Carol (Manuel), Miceala (Gilbert), Raymond (Mary), Robert (Rachel), Jesse, Ronald and

Valentina; 4 adoptive children, Hilda, Jeff (Isabel), Mark (Michelle), Aquarius (Becky); two children of the heart, Frances Florido and Juanita Fuentes; and one brother, Thomas Esquivel. She has 27 grandchildren, 57 greatgrandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Cuando el amor traiciona tus valores

a fuga de un preso siempre es noticia, pero recientemente hubo una en Alabama que dio mucho L de qué hablar. Y no porque el peligroso criminal haya planificado un escape de película, sino porque se fugó fácilmente; salió de prisión a una cita médica, acompañado por una guardia penitenciara, quien resultó ser la mujer con la cual compartía un romance tras las rejas.

Según especialistas en criminología y psicología, el riesgo que tomó Vicky va más allá del fenómeno de la hibristofilia, la atracción romántica por un asesino. Esta viuda, hizo lo que hizo porque el romance disfrutado a sus 56 años era lo más maravilloso, rescatándola del vacío emocional que enfrentan muchas solteras, divorciadas y viudas en la mediana edad.

Tanto amigos, como familiares de Vicky White, se cuestionan cómo una ciudadana tan ejemplar y una oficial tan respetada -galardonada como empleada del año del sistema correccional estadounidense, en cuatro ocasiones- fue capaz cometer tal delito, andar prófuga por 11 días y quitarse la vida.

Independientemente, de si es un ciudadano bueno ó un criminal psicópata, un hombre que haga sentir a una mujer amada, sea real o falso, puede ser “el salvavidas” para alguien sumida en la crisis de envejecimiento y soledad que traen los 50.

Se disparó en la cabeza, tras una persecución automovilística con la policía; mientras, “su amor” fue arrestado y devuelto a prisión. ¿Quién mejor que ella para saber el castigo que le esperaba en la cárcel? Vicky se volvió “loca de amor”, literalmente. Lo que sentía su piel, su cuerpo y su corazón con cada susurro, mirada y caricia del reo y asesino Casey White, era más fuerte que la razón, la ley y su integridad. Sentirse amada valía más que cualquier consecuencia fatal. Incluso, parecía soñar con pasar el resto de su vida junto al criminal de 38 años, que casualmente lleva su mismo apellido. Vendió su casa, obteniendo $95 mil y solicitó un retiro laboral temprano.

No justifico a Vicky, tampoco abogo por un asesino como Casey, y muchísimo menos insto a cometer delitos en nombre del amor. Lo que sí queda claro con esta historia, es que detrás de cualquier acto inexplicable, se puede esconder una necesidad de afecto, que es capaz de traicionar hasta al más recto y ejemplar.
