The Lal Street The Lal street brings the Bar Exchange concept to Hyderbad, clubbed with remarkable ambiance and delectable food and drinks this place is a great visit for a fun evening. The concept similar to stock exchange where the prices of different shares go up and down depending on the demand, only here stocks are replaced by drinks. The drinks are highlights of the place; you will fall short of time and people, but not the variety to try. The ‘Bike Blender’ as the names suggests let you blend your own drinks, by cycling your way through it; The ‘Drinking Hat’ is for those can bravely drink away, because let’s just say it might not stop until you gulp the majority of it. Funnelling is yet another way to drink your way to buzz or just go with BackPack Dispensers ideal for those who love their LIT’s. If you think we mentioned them all, let’s just clear the air that these are not even half of what they have to offer. How would you describe yourself as an individual? Very impatient I would say! I always think that time is running and there are too many things yet to be done, like, in every single hour that passes, I think I could so many things. I always complain to myself that I have done too little, so what I am trying to say is that design is a medium or a communication, an idea you want to communicate through design, and to me textile world is just one of it, I want to do this in furniture, fragrance and everything. Why Raw Mango? Why the name? Raw Mango because the beauty of imperfection done by raw hands and also paisley is symbol from north to south and like all the other motive animals 20 FEBRUARY, 2017 - TULIP
should be an organic growth to it. Handloom is like a fad right now but I never wanted a fad and that is why I dint even do a fashion show for Raw Mango. The attention is fine but we should retain the attention, so we need a lot more innovation, we need to engage with the interest of the youth and it comes with a lot innovation. So how do you maintain it? Like Raw Mango should not be a trend that has come and gone? I don’t know how, when and where we fit into the whole fashion fraternity and that is why I sort of keep myself aside, I do not 100% agree the way fashion works in India and that has been a problem for me. What is your new collection about? Any sneak peek? We have used woolen in our collection which is something new and also themed our new collection with monkeys (which was very hard). It was more like a challenge like how can monkeys be worn and that’s how we gave them an answer. What do you enjoy most about your work? When you don’t look at a craft for a while

anywhere and knowing nothing can be done about it, and then I suddenly make something out of it and seeing people like it is what gives me joy. It’s like a doctor saving a hopeless client and when you work & say that, I take it as my responsibility and I know what to do with it that makes me happy. You depict your creation through lot of real life people instead of models why? I believe that the brand is for real people and thus, you connect more and as you know I don’t want to create a trend by using famous faces. I want you to have the connection that the brand is for everyday people irrespective of size, height or anything. To me, a model doesn’t own the clothes, they are just renting it! How would you describe an Indian bride of today? I don’t see her being more reasonable today. I think that she has her own identity and is functional. She can wear those clothes and work around with it; not a doll, where they make her sit and decorate her. The new catamaran boats have been procured from the US and will be available to ferry the public at the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake. The boats can accommodate 12-15 members per trip with a charge of RS 100 per person. TSTDC has also launched party packages priced at RS 2,000 per hour at these luxury boats. The parties packages will begin post 8:30 PM and can be availed up to 12:00 AM. The boats will not only provide a luxurious ambience to tourists but also have a lower seating which is

closer to the water during the ride. The tourism arm of the State owns a water fleet of about 95, including small and big boats. For boating there are two choices available for the visitors. If interested you can hire a speed boat at Lumbini parkand enjoy an exciting ride in the lake. You will be offered life-jackets so safety is not a worry here. Other option is the ferry ride, which takes tourists to the massive statue of Lord Buddha in the middle of the Hussain Sagar Lake.

SHE Team: Hyderabad police on October 24th launched ‘She Teams’ to provide security to women and curb incidents of eveteasing Total 100 – The SHE team with only women police, to control eve teasing in the city and to provide a safe and secure environment for women. Aim of SHE team: Zero tolerance over women’s safety, will function directly under the supervision of additional commissioner of police, crimes & SIT Swati Lakra. Each team comprises of five police personnel and they have been provided small cameras to record the movements of suspects. The strangers will be identified at different places like bus stops, theatres, and gardens brought to the CCS police Station. A high level Counseling is done along with the stranger’s family members in the police station. The details of the strangers would be kept secret in central database and his activities will be monitored daily, “legal action will be initiated as per provisions of the law. The SHE team has suggested to the government to make a new law on eve-teasing on the lines of the Andhra Pradesh Anti Ragging Act and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Eve Teasing Act. Whenever a woman boards any type of conveyance, she just has to click photograph or record video of the vehicle, note down its number and send online to police, who will take necessary steps if any problem arises,” Mahendar Reddy said. Safety Tips for Women Have you ever felt frightened or intimidated when out walking alone? Have you ever wondered what you should do if approached by an attacker? Have you ever worried about becoming yet another home invasion statistic? The sad reality is that we live in an increasingly violent society in which the fear of crime is ever-present. Personal safety has become an issue of importance for everyone, but especially for women. 1. Awareness: Your first line of defense. Most people think of kicks to the groin and blocking punches when they hear the term “self-defense.” However, true self-defense begins long before any actual physical contact. 2. Use your sixth sense. “Sixth sense” is your “gut instinct.” Whatever you call it, your intuition is a powerful subconscious insight into situations and people. Self-defense training: It is important to evaluate the goals and practical usefulness of a women’s self-defense program before signing up. 4. A wedge is often stronger than the door it secures. 7. Safety in cyberspace: Although the Internet is educational and entertaining, it can also be full of danger if one isn’t careful. When communicating on-line, use a nickname and always keep personal information such as home address and phone number confidential. Instruct family members to do the same. Keep current on security issues, frauds, viruses, etc. “Massive awareness campaigns about sexual harassment were held in the last one year. Our teams visited educational institutions, offices and public places and publicised the different mediums through which victims can reach us,” Additional Commissioner (Crimes) Swati Lakra said. After observing that most victims were working women and girls, the police are now set to target uneducated women to spread awareness about sexual harassment. “We are making short films and also roping in folk artists for it. Help from NGOs will be sought for the campaign,” she said. The teams, along with NGO partners, will visit construction sites, slum areas and factories to conduct awareness programmes. “We want to ensure that every woman, irrespective of their social status, feels safe,” the official said.

RJ Fakhruddin Ahmed - 101.9FM Rainbow Use to do RJing on Saturdays, on, Twin Cities 101.9FM Rainbow in Hyderabad before moving to Seattle couple of months ago to make a brand new weekend show on DesiAM1250. What is your favorite part about being a Radio Jockey? It is to be able to live and create the magical world of love, peace, values, trust, respect and abundance of hope and dreams by doing just our job. What’s your favorite memory with a listener? When a listener says, “it left an indelible mark on their life after the show” forms the most special memory. We, once on a listener’s request ran “father Speak up” on a live show for a father (a professor) who left his family and was unresponsive for months on a father’s day special. The listener called back saying that his father not only called back the family but returned to their home too. It also feels really special when the junior RJs come and tell how I have inspired them to get into this field, since I was a complete introvert with a very poor command in any spoken language (when I started) managed to get into radio. For years, I used to write for shows aired on all India radio station and International station and were heavily influenced by few of them. If you had a chance to make your own show what would it be? It would be with all my favorite RJs that inspired me, Ronny Randeep Arora (AIR Delhi/Hyderabad), Shreeja Ramkumar(AIR Delhi/HumFM Dubai/AM1250 Seattle), Shamshir Rai Luthra (AlR Delhi/RedFM), Deepa Sreekumar (Radio Midday Bangalore) and Reggie Yates (BBC 1, I used to ape him blindly and fail ) and it would be unabashedly conversational, or may be a game show. With each passing day, we are taking the radio away from real life and turning into some kind of idiot box, I would want to bring the real life back to radio. As a Radio Jockey, do you get to talk to celebrities? No, not the A-List, my whole philosophy of programming is, yes celebrities can inspire a large part of population but by doing so we make them infallible and in my opinion and experience to be inspired by something infallible is unreal. Aired on Friday morning from 9 AM to 12 PM What is your favorite part about being a Radio Jockey? Getting to talk to people I have never seen or met before. Namaste Hello adaab is what I enjoy the most. Of course there are people who call and talk just to hear themselves on air but very consistently in every show of mine, I get to talk to new listeners and most importantly people who just want to talk off air to just tell me what they feel about the topic. Most of my topics on the show revolve around relations and feelings which are really close to one’s heart. Listeners also call to share their problems with me. They don’t know me; of course I don’t know them. They are also aware of the fact that I won’t be able to help them. I can just talk, understand and maybe console. But the fact that they trust a completely unknown person with something too personal to them is what really rebuilds my faith in humanity. And of course the music, because I believe very strongly that music heels everything. It can make you feel sane, powerful and really help you get along with life. What’s your favorite memory with a listener? It’s not one person in particular, but I remember when once I had gone on a break for two weeks and I was really excited to be back on air as I got calls asking where I have been and how much they missed listening to me. I think that kind of love from complete strangers is overwhelming. It is wonderfully strange how people can bond in just a span of 2minutes on call knowing just the name and voice of the person on the other end. It is really special when a known stranger calls on air just to ask how you have been doing when sometimes one forgets to ask even a close family member the very same question. If you had a chance to make your own show what would it be? A comedy show that can make everyone laugh till their stomach hurts. Unfortunately I’m not the kind who can crack lame jokes, so I’ll hire someone to do the job. We all need time from the regular mundane life to just laugh our hearts out and I would call it Laughter Riot! As a Radio Jockey, do you get to talk to celebrities? Oh, yes. And it was a pleasure. During the international children’s film festive in Hyderabad last year, 5 of us from AIR were sent to different places where the screening took place. Whatever we would cover every day would go on national broadcast with our respective voiceovers. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor had come down as Karisma Kapoor’s daughter participated in the film festival. I was the only one to get a oneon-one with both of them. And being a huge Kareena Kapoor Khan fan, I was really excited. Although I couldn’t have shown any emotions as I was interviewing her for a “National broadcast” and was representing All India Radio but I was dancing inside.

What is your favorite part about being a Radio Jockey? I love talking to people. So, the interaction is the favorite part. What’s your favorite memory with a listener? Oh…There have been several! Most recently when we played the Mirchi 95 suno, Mercedes Jeeto contest...It made for some hilarious calls and the biggest high for me was people recognizing me simply by my voice. I’d say ‘Good Morning Good Morning’ and I’d hear an excited voice shouting, “Arre Shezzi! Kaisi ho?” and in a heartbeat, it would be like talking to an old friend. Then, there was this wonderful lady who said that if she won the Mercedes, she would take her family out for a drive for the first time; and of course I had to come along, because I too am a part of her family. I’ve never met her, so I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful that felt! If you had a chance to make your own show what would it be? I am head over heels in love with my show! Like it’s my first crush, my soul mate and the love of my life all rolled into one. I’m living all of the ‘ifs, buts, coulda, woulda’..... Wouldn’t possibly change anything about it! As a Radio Jockey, do you get to talk to celebrities? Well! I interviewed Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza recently and played a bit of a game with Vidya Balan which she seemed to thoroughly enjoy and a mannequin challenge as well. Oh! I also got a wonderful opportunity to have a conversation with the Home Secretary of Telangana State; she was an amazing lady to talk to.

Aired on Monday morning from 9am to 12pm. What is your favorite part about being a Radio Jockey? The fact that it’s live and I have to be on my toes every single minute. When you are on air there is no thing as a second chance and that makes me feel alive. And many a times when a listener calls or drops in a message saying the show left a smile on their face, it makes my day! What’s your favorite memory with a listener? There was this one listener who called me before she was leaving for USA to pursue higher studies. She called me for the first time and told that my show was one thing she looked forward to and gave her company for the good part of a year while she was working here in Hyd. My show would be one of the things that she would miss. The best part was this was a listener I didn’t even know existed. Had she called me regularly, it would have been a different thing; the fact that she kept listening to my show for a year or so, especially considering that I do a show only once a week. So, you can imagine there isn’t continuity that RJ’S on other channels enjoy. That made it all the more special; the fact that my show could become a part of her life was a wonderful thing to know. If you had a chance to make your own show what would it be? Not sure about the entire show, but I would love to have a segment called “This made my day”. Right now, we have all the other shows with funny segments like playing pranks on people. I would love to do the opposite and that would basically mean, make someone’s wish come true and do something that will bring a huge smile on their face. Make them have a moment which will make everyone go “awe...” As a Radio Jockey, do you get to talk to celebrities? Tell us about yourself. How did you get into fitness and what inspired you? It started way back in 2007, the very first year of my college, where I had fallen sick because of food poisoning. The doctor asked me to avoid oily things as it was taking a toll on my liver apparently. This is when I started eating better and started researching more on what is called as ‘clean eating’. Meanwhile, I had joined a dungeon gym near my college just for the aim of gaining little bit of strength. Hardly, I knew that I would fall for it; it was like an “INSTANT LOVE-AFFAIR”. How many fitness competitions you have participated in, till now? I have done 12 National championships and 2 international championships till date. Apart from this, I’m actively involved in promoting natural bodybuilding. I have also taken a couple of radio shows and guest posing at various states. In addition, I was also selected in the top 5 fittest women in India by Men’s health Magazine. I am the brand face of the amazing supplement called “DIVINE NUTRITION” and the Brand ambassador of RITE BITE Protein bars. I was a semi finalist in MTV’S Reebok Ultimate Fitness challenge. These are my achievements till date. Can you share a few fitness tips to lose weight and have a healthy lifestyle? Weight training & Diet are like two sides of the coin; you possibly can’t seem to get the desired result without any of the two. Make Fitness as your lifestyle. Swap unhealthy food with a healthier one by pre planning of the meal and carrying self cooked meal boxes wherever you go. l Keep yourself hydrated: Drink sufficient water. l Include diet high in protein. l Workout at least five times a week. l Rest is as important as working out. Give your body rest for one day at least. l Consume Veggies for minerals, vits. l Swap Simple carbs with the complex ones. Now days there are numerous supplements and people tend
to get confused to take or not to, it has become very commercial and confusing. What is your take on it? Well! Supplements as the name says, should be considered as supplements only and not as a substitute to your main diet. Indian food is rich in carbohydrates and it is slightly difficult to get the daily protein requirement via regular diet. This is when we should include supplements in our diet. A gym goer or any one for that matter, whose lifestyle is active, must include whey in his diet. Currently, we have thousands of supplement brands in the market. A thorough research should be done alongside reading feedback before you plan to buy any supplement. I’m using divine nutrition currently and pretty much satisfied with the results. Any fitness app or gadget that you suggest to be motivated? I’m using GARMIN fitness gadget to track my heart rate, number of steps taken, calories burnt, etc. Apart from this, it looks pretty cool, and so, I always have it with me. Are you into online training and coaching people? Yes! I have transformed many via my online training. You could either email me directly for the registration, or can also enroll on the ‘ fitblink’ app which can be downloaded via google’s Play store. What keeps you inspired and motivated? I was a senior software engineer in a reputed firm. I used to compete side by side, manage my own meals and give training to others as well. I think if one really wants to do something, he/she will somehow find a way to do it. For me, motivation always came from within. You guys are my real motivation, who always inspired me to take a step forward. How often do you have cheat meals? A beginner can’t do what I do. So, they are allowed to cheat once in a week, if they follow and maintain the diet properly; six days a week. Any message that you would like to give to the readers? One life, be everything you wish to be and never think that you are less than anyone “YouNoLess”. Suresh Raju loves his Porsche and his love for cars is undying. If you’ve read anything about Porsche’s junior sports cars, the718 Cayman and 718 Boxster, during the last year, you probably know that its mid-cycle update went well beyond the cosmetic nips and tucks typical of automobiles entering midlife. In addition to de rigueur fascia, headlight, and taillight revisions, each got new sheetmetal stampings for all fenders and both door skins. Interior upgrades included redesigned upper dashboards, new steering wheels, and revised infotainment logic with more connectivity options and device compatibility. The Boxster and Cayman also received completely retuned chassis, upgraded brakes, and even a newly shared numerical designation—718—to help clarify that they’re simply two variants of the same model. But the most consequential changes by far were the replacement of the sonorous, naturally aspirated 2.7- and 3.4-liter flat-six engines with turbocharged 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter flat-fours in the standard and S models. If you’re like us, you worried about how Porsche would maintain these cars’ ebullient characters, so much of which resided in those legendary, mid-mounted flat-sixes, with their peaky but delightfully linear power (above roughly 3700 rpm) and richly mechanized thrum emanating from just behind one’s ears. Both new four-cylinders are more powerful than their sixpot predecessors, and the cars are offered in a number of model, transmission, and body-style combinations, with numerous nifty performance options to help sharpen their edges. But we wondered if there may be a 718 sweet spot that would make us forget all about the flat-sixes of yesteryear. Hardtop or roadster? Revised six-speed manual or stateof-the-art dual-clutch automatic? Would the 2.0-liter’s 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft be enough, or are the 2.5-liter’s 350 horses and 309 lb-ft worth the extra dough? Our edict was clear: Test every permutation of 718. Four tests have already appeared on this site, including aBoxster S with a six-speed manual transmission, a Boxster S with the PDK seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, a standard Cayman with the six-speed manual, and a PDK-equipped Cayman S.

ENTERTAINMENT Box Office Clash One of the first big box office clashes of 2017 will be witnessed on January 25, when “Kaabil” and “Raees” will hit the theaters on the same day, but Hrithik Roshan feels it could have been avoided if the producers of the Shah Rukh Khan-starter had planned things in a better manner. The 43-year-old star, who plays role of a visually-challenged in the film, said his producer father, Rakesh Roshan, is “hurt” with the way things have turned out. “My father plans his life very well. He was also very careful. ‘Kaabil’ was about to get over in October. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have hinted at Pierce Brosnan’s possible casting as Cable in the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ movie by posting pictures with the ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ actor. Since the big success of ‘Deadpool’ at box office, fans’ excitement for its sequel ‘Deadpool 2’ is at a fever pitch. There are talks about who will play Cable. In the picture Reynolds shared via his Instagram account, the Wade Wilson depicter posed along with the former James Bond actor and Jackman. They struck a ‘hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil’ pose. The ‘Criminal’ actor wrote in the caption, “Wolvie. Bond. Wade.” No one knows under what circumstance that the three actors were hanging out together. Fans seem to connect it with the casting of Cable and make a conclusion that Reynolds is trying to hint that Brosnan will play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’. Jackman further stirred the speculation by posting a similar photo on his own Instagram account. The ‘Eddie the Eagle’ actor captioned it with #wolverinebonddeadpool. As for Jackman, it’s been long speculated that his superhero character Wolverine may appear in ‘Deadpool 2’. However, Jackman has not yet made an official comment regarding the rumour. ’Deadpool 2’ will be directed by David Leitch with a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
ENTERTAINMENT Baahubali & Satakarni: No Comparisons Please
As Gautamiputra Satakarni was wrapped in just 79 days, many have come to an opinion that Krish achieved a bigger milestone than Rajamouli who is taking years to wrap Baahubali series. Frankly speaking, it should not be seen that way. For Baahubali, Rajamouli has fixed Ramoji Film City as his sole location and created every other element in a scene literally with computer graphics. Whereas Krish has carefully selected best real locations to film Gautamiputra Satakarni and added set extensions through visual effects. Both are two different styles of carving a magnificent visual brilliance using VFX technology. As Krish relied much on reality and only partially used graphics, he consumed lesser time, while Rajamouli used just characters (actors) from reality but created rest in visual effects, Baahubali is taking a longer time to complete. That’s why there is no point in comparing their ‘time’ taken to film these visually strong films. Top music trio in Bollywood have been reportedly roped in for Prabhas’ next. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who composed several popular films including Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, are said to be zeroed in on for Prabhas 19. OK Jaanu Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor In “OK Jaanu”, Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur have a very tough act to follow. They play Adi, a video game developer, and Tara, an architect. The duo meets in Mumbai, and gives each other the usual spiel about being invested in their careers and not interested in marriage. But love blossoms soon, and they realize that living a commitment-free life may not be that easy. Their relationship is contrasted with the lives of the couple (Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Samson) they live with as paying guests. As Adi and Tara go through their ups and downs, they find lessons in the older couple living out the evening of their lives with each other. For those who have watched the original movie, none of this is new. Ali’s copy is as fervent and as mindless as a student who copies from the guy sitting next to him during an exam. Every full stop and comma is noted down without an original thought. And while Ali can get away with copying his mentor’s film scene for scene, chemistry is something that cannot be replicated. Even for that limited success, they can thank cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, who infuses the scenes with such warm lights, and shoots the young couple on their jaunts through Mumbai with such panache, that it is hard not to like them. Even then, there is something to be said for a film that takes a tired romantic trope and turns it into a tale that will bring a smile to your face. But any credit must go to Mani Ratnam. One can easily say that no film has created such a buzz as Khaidi as it is Chiranjeevi’s comeback film after nine long years. The entertainer, has hit the screens today and let’s see, how it turns out to be. Kaththi Seenu (Chiranjeevi) is a happy go lucky crook who escapes from jail and plans to leave the country for good. One fine day, he comes across an accident and helps the man who gets affected by it. The twist in the tale arises when Seenu finds out that the man (Shankar) he saved is the exact look alike of him. He cleverly sends back Shankar to jail in his place and silently enters his life to earn more money. Be it his crazy dialogues or stunning dance moves, everything will make mega fans quite happy. Chiru’s performance during the emotional scenes and climax bring a lot of depth to the film. Kajal looks gorgeous in the film and nicely suits the frame with Chiru. Not once do you feel that the pairing looks odd. Though, the problems of farmers are elevated well, the solution given during the climax looks quite cliché. Also, the story of the film is normal and does not have any interesting twists. The second half of the film gets a bit serious and slows down during the climax.

The story is of a man named Vaibhav Kulkarni and his eleven year old daughter Nisha Kulkarni. The plot of the book is simple but the way the story is narrated is simply outstanding. The depth of the characters which the author has managed to bring about, is also commendable. The fact that the story is just so different from the regular boy-meets-girl stories flooding the market these days is sufficient for one to pick this book and give it a try. I thoroughly enjoyed both Nisha’s and Vaibhav’s characters. The bond and the love which they have for each other is unheard of and is truly inspirational. The story is told in a third person’s voice. The book is just under 200 pages and makes for a fast and refreshing read. It is an ideal one time read and we would recommend it to all our
