My journey is one of resilience and passion. Struggling with PCOD became the turning point that led me to embrace fitness, not just as a lifestyle but as a mission. Through years of consistency and discipline, I became a strength and conditioning coach and took over my father’s gym which is named after him - LATHEEF’s GYM. I am now committed to helping others transform their lives and realize their true potential for over eight years.
Beyond the gym, my love for motorbikes fuels my adventurous side. Riding isn’t just a hobby for me— it’s a way to connect with the world, embrace freedom, and push my boundaries. Whether I’m lifting weights or cruising on the open road, I believe in living life with strength, purpose, and a fearless spirit.”
Q. What was the turning point that motivated you to focus on fitness despite PCOD challenges?
My family was in the fitness industry, my father started our gymLATHEEF’s Gym in the year 1995. Watching his consistency and discipline was the biggest driving force. The physical ailments that I suffered from due to PCOD were enough to push me and keep going. Health is treated as a serious business in my family and given due respect. I had to work on getting back on track or get caught in the vicious cycle of medication. I chose the organic way and here I am advocating it on strong grounds.
Q. Does weight training help you in terms of mental health?
Yes! Every time I have felt low or going through a bad phase in life, just going to the gym and getting a workout done has given me clarity of thoughts and made me feel good. Every time a human body is put through rigorous workouts the body releases hormones like Endorphins, enkephalins etc in simple terms called “Feel-good hormones” . These are the hormones responsible for making you feel good or giving you the high!
Q. Can you share the biggest milestone that you are proud of achieving in this field of fitness?
I was 105 kilos with my hormones creating havoc in my body and I was caught in the vicious cycle of PCOD, taking control of my life and coming out of it now not just practising a healthy lifestyle but advocating it on strong grounds has been my biggest milestone.
Q. What keeps you going in this field?
I have been in this field for over 8 years now, I still have the drive to keep going only to hear from my 82 year old client tell me that she could take stairs without knee pain, that one athlete who got injured and now healed and gotten back in the field feeling stronger, to see a grandfather run behind his grandchild pain-free after training under me.
Q. Who taught you to ride a motorcycle?
My father did. The first two wheels that I hopped on to learn was a Chetak(1989) which was my grandfather’s. That’s the vehicle I learnt and understood the operation of gears, haven’t lowered the gears since then!
I went on to ride my dad’s electra 350, then a 350x Thunderbird and now a Himalayan 411.
Q. Can you tell us a little about BIKERNI HYDERABAD?
It’s an all-women bikers community, started in the year 2013, for the past 10 years this chapter was led by Jai Bharathi. The leadership was then passed on to me in the year 2023. Our motto is to provide a safer platform for women to come together and to ride motorbikes and travel the world.
Q. What is your biggest achievement in this field of motorbikes?
Riding to the world’s highest motorable road – Umlingla. I was riding with a group of 7 women riders in a temperature that running below -20• c with very low oxygen levels. Now when I sit back and think, I can only smile and wonder on how did we even pull it off!
Q. What’s one piece of advice you would like to give in this field of bikes and barbells?
In terms of fitness, the only way to get results is to stay consistent and disciplined. There is no magic happening there! The most beautiful relationship you will ever share with anyone is your own body. That is the only unit that serves you till your grave so make sure it remains happy. For motorcyclists and the ones coming up now should know that this journey teaches something new in every single turn and twist make sure you lean on the curve!

Q. What is your most favorite thing about Christmas?
Christmas is all about rejoicing & celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The entire month of December is very busy for our family as we gear up to prepare & plan for this special season.
Q. How is Christmas Celebrated in your Household?
We buy gifts, bake plum cakes & cookies which we share with our family, friends & neighbours, its an absolute time of spreading joy & smiles.
Q. Your favourite part about Christmas Eve?
Every Christmas Eve, we gather with our family and exchange gifts, enjoy special meals, and participate in traditions like singing carols. And on the day of Christmas, our entire church community attends the morning service, we praise, worship & rejoice in our saviours birth as one family.
Q. What do you plan on wearing on Christmas?
We wear formal on the day of Christmas we plan ahead of time and get ready.
Balasundaram’sFamily
Q.What is your favorite thing about Christmas?
Our favorite part about Christmas is that it’s a reminder of the birth of Christ Jesus. It’s a day of hope, joy, a new beginning and a day that is filled with gratitude for all that we have that is through Christ. That is the crux of what Christmas is for us and this sentiment is our favorite part about Christmas! Christmas in our family is nothing short of magical, filled with warmth, laughter, and love. For our family, it all begins with decorating the house together. There’s something so joyful about stringing up the lights, hanging the ornaments, and watching the kids’ faces glow with excitement. Latha always says her favorite part is the togetherness—whether it’s in the kitchen, at the dinner table, or just sitting around sharing stories. The kids, as you’d guess, are all about the fun stuff. The teenager can’t wait to unwrap gifts and go play with his friends, while the little one is counting the seconds until Santa arrives and gives him his gifts.
Q.What do you plan on wearing?
As for what we wear, we all keep it festive but comfortable. I’m all about the Tshirt-and-jeans vibe, while Latha has her elegant red or green outfit planned to perfection. The teenager usually opts for a cool Christmas hoodie, and the youngest? Oh, he wants to look special with a bow tie and the works!
Q.How is Christmas celebrated in your household?
Christmas morning is always a calm yet joyful affair. We all head to church together, dressed in our festive best, to soak in the spirit of the season. Afterward, it’s time for the mandatory Christmas breakfast—dosas, idlis and steaming cups of coffee. Guests start arriving soon after, and the house buzzes with chatter and laughter. It’s tradition to serve classic Indian Christmas snacks like Christmas rum cake, rose cookies and murukulus, which everyone looks forward to. Lunch, of course, is another family feast, because what’s Christmas without sharing a meal (or two) with loved ones?
Q.What is your favorite part about Christmas eve?
Christmas Eve is when the real celebration kicks off. It’s tradition to have a big, fat family dinner at my uncle’s place. The table is always overflowing with delicious food, laughter echoes through the house, and the night feels like a warm hug. After dinner, we all join in for carol singing—everyone from the little ones to the not-so-musical uncles pitching in. Then comes the moment the kids (and let’s be honest, the adults too) wait for—opening gifts together. The room bursts with excitement, gratitude, and a little bit of chaos as wrapping paper flies everywhere.
Christmas isn’t just the traditions or the food; it’s the feeling of being surrounded by love and laughter. It’s these moments, big and small, that make the season so magical for us.
Sharon&AshishDande
Q.What is your favorite thing about Christmas?
Christmas provides an opportunity for families to come together and revisit childhood memories. This is especially true when we all gather a few days before Christmas to prepare homemade treats like plum cake, murukku, cookies, and other sweet or savory items. The effort that goes into preparing these dishes is worth it for the smiles they bring to our friends and family as their taste buds delight on Christmas Day.
Q.How is Christmas celebrated in your household?
We start our Christmas morning by going to church and giving thanks to baby Jesus for being born into this world. We greet everyone and, of course, take loads of pictures with friends and family alike. As a mandatory tradition, and with hunger pangs kicking in after the photo sessions (which can last more than an hour at times), we head out as a family for brunch and then rest for the afternoon. In the evening, the families gather again to have a merry time around the Christmas tree in our households.
Q.What do you plan on wearing?
With our Indian roots close to our hearts, the ladies mostly wear traditional outfits, as Christmas is one of the few occasions when we can dress up without feeling overdressed. The men usually wear formal suits, or if they are bold enough, they might opt for a sherwani or a heavy kurta. So yes, sarees and suits are the outfits we’re going for this year.
Q.What is your favorite part about Christmas eve?
This is the day to sit back and admire your beautifully decorated Christmas tree in all its glory, your spotlessly clean and decorated house, and enjoy munching on the goodies you baked or prepared for Christmas.
Q.How is Christmas this time as a new couple?
It was surreal, as this year we got to celebrate Christmas in a new household, deciding on decorations and bringing both sets of in-laws together for a joyful time. I’m sure it will keep getting better each year, thanks to God’s blessings.

Beauty in 2024: The Rise of Skinimalism
In the world of beauty, trends come and go, but 2024 seems to be embracing a more minimalistic approach to skincare and makeup— enter skinimalism. This emerging beauty trend is all about simplifying your routine while focusing on skin health, radiance, and natural beauty. Gone are the days of multi-step skincare routines and heavy makeup layers. Instead, it’s time to celebrate your skin with fewer products and more emphasis on self-care.
What is Skinimalism?
Skinimalism is the perfect blend of skincare and minimalism. It’s about using fewer products that are high in quality and effective, focusing on enhancing your natural beauty rather than masking it. This trend aligns with the growing desire for clean beauty, sustainability, and overall wellness, offering a more holistic approach to beauty that prioritizes healthy, glowing skin.
In a world where multitasking and overconsumption are the norm, skinimalism encourages us to slow down and simplify our routines. The idea is to create a balance between skincare and makeup, allowing the skin to shine through with minimal coverage and fewer layers.
Skinimalism
and the Clean Beauty Movement:
Another aspect of skinimalism is its connection to the clean beauty movement, which emphasizes non-toxic, sustainable, and cruelty-free products. More and more beauty brands are focusing on transparency, offering products with fewer ingredients that are ethically sourced and environmentally friendly. When embracing skinimalism, it’s also a great opportunity to explore brands that prioritize clean beauty and sustainability.
The Benefits of Skinimalism:
Healthier Skin: By using fewer, more effective products, your skin is less likely to be irritated by harsh chemicals or heavy formulations. This allows your skin’s natural barriers to function properly.
Less Stress: Simplifying your routine can reduce decision fatigue and make getting ready a more relaxed experience.
Confidence: Embracing your natural skin and features can lead to greater confidence and selflove, without feeling the need for constant touch-ups or perfection.
The Art of Baking
By Aniksha Rachamalla
Baking is more than just a culinary endeavour; it's a delightful art form that has been cherished for centuries. From the warm aroma of freshly baked bread to the decadence of a perfectly crafted pastry, baking is a sensory experience that transcends taste alone.
At its core, baking is a science. It involves precise measurements, chemical reactions, and controlled temperatures. One of the fundamental ingredients in baking is flour, a staple that provides structure through the formation of gluten when mixed with water. The leavening agents, such as yeast or baking powder, create the characteristic rise in bread and cakes by releasing carbon dioxide gas during fermentation or when exposed to heat. Temperature control is paramount in baking. Too hot, and your creation may burn; too cool, and it won't cook properly. The act of monitoring and adjusting the temperature is where the artistry begins. Bakers learn to trust their senses – the golden brown colour, the hollow sound of tapping bread, or the toothpick test to determine doneness. The act of baking and sharing bread holds special significance in many cultures, signifying community and sustenance.
Baking Is A Process
Baking isn't just about the final product; it's about the process itself. The mixing of ingredients, the soothing act of kneading dough, and the excitement as your creation bakes in the oven – these moments provide a sense of accomplishment and joy. There's a unique joy in seeing someone's face light up as they take their first bite of a freshly baked treat, a testament to the baker's skill and love. In a world of fast food and convenience, baking stands as a timeless art form that connects us to our culinary roots. It marries science and creativity, tradition and innovation, offering both a sensory journey and a sense of accomplishment. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice, the art of baking invites you to explore, experiment, and savour the magic that happens within the heart of the kitchen.
So to embrace the art of baking let’s look at one such pastry chef who has achieved tremendous levels of creativity and practice.
Reynold Poernomo
Growing up, Reynold always seemed to have a food influence in every corner of his life. His parents worked in the restaurants and his older brothers found their way into the hospitality industry themselves. His passion for cooking first began at the age of 14 where he found himself expressing his craft and creativity through food. Though at first as a hobby which then grew into an everyday passion project - Endless experimenting, cooking from high-end cookbooks, watching cooking tutorials and in no time became a self-taught cook.
He then made his debut on Masterchef Australia in 2015 and was crowned as the nation’s ‘Dessert King’ as he placed as a finalist in the cooking competition. He may not have won but have definitely won the hearts of many. In 2016 Reynold, his mother and his brothers founded KOI Dessert Bar which focuses on high-end handcrafted pastries and desserts. It has now become one of the most popular venues of Sydney with a cult-like following and its name infamous globally. In 2017 KOI Dessert Bar was created as the main production kitchen, expanding the KOI Dessert Bar brand.
Hyderabad is known for its patisseries. A few of the famous ones are listed below:
Conçu
Swathi Upadhyay and her husband Chef Sahil Taneja returned to Hyderabad after finishing their studies in the UK. At first, they opened an 800 square foot business in 2012 and used word of mouth to let people know they were taking orders. Concu focused primarily on European desserts since they wanted to give something different from the typically excessively fudgy or sweet American pastries. According to Upadhyay, they were the first to introduce macarons to Hyderabad; at the time, very few people were familiar with the macaron concept.
Foncé Chocolatier Cafe
In December 2020, Hyderabad's first immersive new cocoa atelier was opened by founder Deepa Reddy, a young engineer and MBA turned entrepreneur, together with her husband and co-founder Jaikar Reddy. Deepa Reddy's frequent travels to countries like Switzerland, Italy, and Dubai, where cocoa is considered both food and art, are what gave rise to the beginning of the delightful adventure. Travel honed her enthusiasm for chocolates and chocolate making like a magic beanstalk. The young business owners visited Europe and other regions to personally select the finest ingredients and furnishings for the Foncé kitchen. Additionally, the cafe's name reflects that. Foncé, which is French for "dark," makes it clear how to use dark chocolate to create delectable beverages and viennoiseries.
Labonel Fine Baking
The exclusive, family-owned chain Labonel, which Mehnaz Hussain renamed and introduced in 2005, currently has seven locations, including two in Bengaluru and one in Vijayawada. In December 2022, Labonel reached its 17-year milestone under Mehnaz's direction. The family company now also includes her husband Abdul, sons Mohammed and Ahmed, and daughter-in-law Zeenat Jadwet. "I was clear about what I wanted," she claims. With the assistance of a branding firm, I relaunched the company. In addition to creating new recipes from the books I had accumulated over the years by modifying them and adding or removing ingredients, I also designed the boards and boxes. Due to their popularity, some foods, such cookies, eggless goods, and brownies, are prepared daily. They always have chocolate cake with ganache ready. Labonel's cost for a cake can potentially reach Rs 10,000. Mehnaz's concentration on using high-quality, fresh ingredients (the components used are mentioned on Labonel's website) is what makes her cakes so pricey. All Labonel shops have their own kitchens, and every product is created from scratch there without the use of preservatives. Her repertoire includes teatime cakes, cupcakes, dessert gateaux and roulades, cheesecakes, brownies, and biscuits, among other items. Loaves and eggless variations are also hot favorites, along with the always-popular chocolate cakes.

Baking is fun. It’s relaxing and calming, whether I’m whipping up cookies, cakes, or brownies. I get to experiment and play with the ingredients and make the best out of it with my personalised recipes. Admittedly, I struggled in the beginning, but eventually, as I got a hold of it, I started enjoying it and more often chose it as an activity to relieve my stress. My signature touch involves loads of ganache, caramel syrup and irresistible crispy toppings!

Baking is not just mixing a few ingredients and baking them. Baking is a culinary art, it’s a science that requires much more than just mixing a handful of ingredients. For me, baking is a therapeutic and rewarding experience and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I look at the final product. More than just the final product, I love and enjoy the process of it all.

"Kissik vs. Oo Antava: The Battle of the Beats in Tollywood's Latest Musical Showdown"
The release of "Kissik," a song from the much-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, has sparked diverse reactions on social media, drawing comparisons to the iconic "Oo Antava" from the first film. While "Kissik" features vibrant visuals and energetic choreography with Allu Arjun and Sreeleela, initial feedback indicates that it may not resonate as powerfully as its predecessor. Critics have noted that although the catchy hookline “Kiss Kiss Kissikku” stands out, the overall lyrics lack depth, leading some fans to suggest that the song may require multiple listens to be fully appreciated. In contrast, "Oo Antava," released in 2021, quickly became a cultural phenomenon due to its catchy tune and bold lyrics, which cleverly addressed themes of empowerment. This stark difference in reception highlights a broader trend in music where initial reactions can vary significantly from long-term popularity. Songs like "Chuttamalle" also faced scrutiny before becoming hits, suggesting that "Kissik" might follow a similar trajectory. As Pushpa 2 gears up for its release on December 5, 2024, it remains to be seen whether "Kissik" will achieve iconic status like "Oo Antava." Early indications suggest that while it may not have started strong, it holds potential for future success as audiences continue to engage with it.
"Endorsement Evolution: Why Brands Are Turning to Cricketers Over Film Stars"
Cricketers have emerged as the top brand endorsers in India, outshining Bollywood stars in the Brand Endorser Report 2024 released by Hansa Research. This shift highlights the powerful influence of cricket in Indian culture, where cricketers like Virat Kohli, M.S. Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar are now the most sought-after celebrities for brand partnerships.
The report, based on a survey of 4,000 respondents from 36 cities, ranked 400 celebrities on various factors such as likeability and public perception. Kohli topped the list, followed closely by Dhoni and Tendulkar. Their ability to connect with fans on emotional and aspirational levels has made them appealing choices for brands looking to resonate with consumers. Ashish Karnad from Hansa Research noted that these cricketers symbolize hard work and success, inspiring trust among diverse audiences. In contrast, Bollywood icons like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar rankedfourth and fifth, respectively. Notably, Allu Arjun has made a significant leap to seventh place, marking his presence as the only South Indian actor in the top ten. This reflects the growing popularity of regional cinema in India.
Interestingly, Deepika Padukone is the only woman in the top ten, highlighting a gender imbalance in celebrity endorsements. This raises questions about the representation of female celebrities in this space.Overall, the findings suggest a strategic shift for brands as they increasingly turn to cricketers for endorsements. However, there is a call for more diversity in celebrity representation to include influential figures from various sectors beyond cricket and Bollywood.
