FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK We have done a lot of issues covering the topics of fashion, food, art, music, spas, theatre, beauty, women, health and planet. So this issue we decided to dedicate our entire issue to “the men.” This magazine intends to awaken and explore many of the pleasures that drive successful men. There is time setting watches, luxurious cars, trouble-free recipes to make (easy as 123), men’s fashion and the icing on the cake with contagious energy Cricket World Cup. Men like you want to know about good food, as well as the world’s best watches and mind-blowing cars. You want to understand men’s world automobiles, the in vogue watches and hardly spoken about men’s fashion. Here, you will find insights into these potions of information, as well as specific recommendations unlike those found in any other magazine. Welcome men. Good to have you aboard. Make yourselves comfortable. Go on in and grab a beer, sit down comfortably and put your feet up. Cheers!!! Our piece of life article talks about metro sexuality, something we still don’t like to discuss in open. Why we are unable to accept it, why the discrimination and how every individual has the right to live their life their own way. A day from your diary section has Raju Naik who in his wide-ranging talk covering a vast canvas described the media as “the current campfire.” Special bonding section has two best friends talking about the attachment they have, their individuality and how they managed to stick to their special friendship despite ups and lows. Men’s Fashion articles talk about the must haves in every wardrobe of a man- check if you are missing something and the colour palette informs you about various colours you can experiment this spring. TULIP dreams about creating a very special magazine for the individual who wants most out of life. If you share that desire, welcome. This magazine is for you. On that note I would like to inform you do contribute for our forthcoming issue. Remember, it is not only the retelling we are interested in, but your perspectives also. THREE THINGS I’VE LEARNT THIS ISSUE The world is full of all kinds of people, of all shapes, size, creed, and colors. But we shouldn’t discriminate against real men, just as we shouldn’t discriminate against non-real men. Like all the others, yes I’m upset about the ICC World Cup 2011 Matches not held in Hyderabad. But, on the happier note there are IPL4 matches to be held here and I’m glad our city is developing widely in terms of sports and opening up to games like golf!!! There is more to men’s fashion apart from the blue jeans and crisp white shirt. Although its classic there is a plethora of options that can be tried also.

CRUZ BECKHAM to be a Ballet Dancer
D
David and Victoria Beckham’s youngest son wants to be ballet dancer. The couple’s five-year-old child Cruz became inspired when he attended a class with his cousin and, though he is the only boy in the group, has now started taking regular lessons and is said to be making “brilliant” progress. A source said: “Cruz absolutely loves ballet classes - and he’s a complete natural. “He was brilliant; Cruz has been to every class religiously since, practicing his plies around the kitchen table’’. Soccer player David and fashion designer Victoria - who also have older sons Brooklyn, 11, and Romeo, eight, and are currently expecting their fourth child together - are said to be delighted he has found something to be passionate about, and are supporting him all the way. They’ve both been to see him in action, watching him dance around in his little ‘Power Rangers’ top and shorts.” It is not the first time Cruz has shown a passion for dance - during the last Spice Girls reunion tour, he joined his mother and her band mates Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell on stage and showed off his break dancing skills.
KATIE BECKINSALE
K
goes Blonde
Kate Beckinsale, The Pearl Harbor star, surprises her fans with her new outlook, as her enviably long, dark hair now bottle blonde. At Los Angeles’ LAX Airport on Friday, she was spotted having her hair new colored. This 37-year-old British actress was hardly recognizable with the new style and her dramatic change, as Daily Report says; she looks more Hollywood than ever before. The actress teamed her new hair with a pretty green beaded maxi dress, mirrored aviator sunglasses and a cream woolen cardigan as she walked through the airport with daughter Lily and husband Len Wiseman. “My mother is gorgeous. She went on to become the breadwinner after my father’s death and kept us both. The lesson was in how she dealt with tragedy – and how she brought me up to deal with problems.” said Lily Beckinsale. The tressed Katie bids goodbye to her dark hair and is back with a bang with this new blonde look, shocking her fans. 6 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011

SHAHID AND SAIF
BOLLYWOOD
at Loggerheads
Professionally and personally, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor are rivals. If Saif grabbed Kareena Kapoor from Shahid then Shahid snatched away some challenging roles from Saif. The duo recently had fight over toothpaste. Buzz has it that Shahid Kapoor replaces Saif Ali Khan as the brand ambassador of the product. In the past too, Shahid won over Saif in playing the lead roles for ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Dream Sequence’. Saif was eager to play those characters but Shahid had the opportunity to enact those lead roles. Moreover, Kareena Kapoor’s recent interaction with Shahid also did not go well with the Chotte Nawab. This is another reason of dispute between Saif and Shahid. Suprisingly on the popular chat show Koffee with Karan, Saif had ranked Shahid at a high number in ranking of sex appeal and indirectly also hinted that he in no way is insecure about Shahids presence.
MALLIKA LOST

If Mallika Sherawat has lost ‘Murder 2’ to a new girl Jaqueline Fernandes then she has grabbed another fruit which is equally sweeter a tastier. The sexy damsel has been signed to play lead role in Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Jism 2’. Mallika replaces Bipasha Basu as the female lead of the movie. A source says, “Jism 2 is going to be bigger and bolder than Jism. Pooja was looking out for someone who has a fabulous body and Mallika fits the bill. Moreover, this time Pooja has been looking out for an established face.” Pooja recently met Mallika and had a long conversation. Confirming the news Pooja’s father Mahesh Bhatt, “Selecting the actors for her film is entirely Pooja’s domain. Moreover, Pooja is a very meticulous person. She will take her time to decide. But yes, I did do the job of making Mallika and Pooja meet. Let’s see what happens.” The sequel to the John-Bipasha’s blockbuster will be co-produced by Dino Morea and Pooja Bhatt.
AKSHAY TEASES

Wife Twinkle, the Flimi Way
It’s a mere co-incidence that in the film, ‘Patiala House’, Akshay Kumar was named Gattu which is unfortunately his wife Twinkle Khanna’s ex boyfriend and director Abhishek Kapoor’s nickname. It was dialogue writer Amrita Dutt’s idea to name Akshay Kumar’s character as Gattu. The three did not mind with the name rather laughed at the co-incidence. Says a source close to Akki, “Akshay and Twinkle knew his character in Patiala House would be called Gattu and were perfectly comfortable with it. The real-life Gattu himself is amused by it. When he read his name on the promos he had a hearty laugh and even joked about the publicity he was getting. Akki, Tina and Gattu are all friends and even attend social events together. Very few people can maintain such cordial and comfortable relationships but the three have behaved maturely about it. Akshay knew people would remark on the co-incidence but he was fine with it.” In the film, Akshay stars opposite Anushka Sharma. FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011 TULIP 7

BHUMIKA’S
Marriage on the Rocks
A
Actress Bhumika Chawla’s marriage is on the rock. She has filed divorce from husband Bharat Thakur. They are married for the last three years. The couple married after dating for four years. According to a top socialite and close friend of Bhumika from Mumbai, the actress decided to part ways from her hubby after she came to know about his ‘extramarital relationship’ with one of his high profile clients in Mumbai. Bhumika is eager to break her marriage with Bharat after hearing Bharat’s affair with a socialite. Though Bharat tried to convince Bhumika that those rumors are baseless, the actress refused to agree. He tried his level best to save the marriage but Bhumika is strict on her decision. Adding fuel to the divorce rumours, the actress is seen attending social events and parties by herself, which has never happened before! For a long time, the couple was not spotted together. Bhumika Chawla and Bharat Thakur married on 21 October 2007 at Devlali, Nashik in a Gurdwara.
DIRECTOR
Vijay on a Hit Spree
A
After delivering a hat-trick in Kireedom, Poi Solla Porom and Madrassapattinam, director Vijay is now working on a project with Vikram and Anushka, which has kindled the interest of K-town. “ Rubbishing rumours about Anushka walking out of the project, Vijay says, “Anushka is very much part of the film. She’s an awesome actress. She’s committed to her work.” But it is Vikram’s performance that, Vijay says, will be highlight of the film. “I wrote the script of the film two years ago. I told Vikram that I’d like to work with him on this project whenever he was ready. Vikram loved the script, but we both got busy with other commitments. I’m glad we’ve finally worked it out now,” he says. Vijay opines that a director needs a great actor to make his film work. “That way, I’m lucky to have talented actors working on my project. Vikram gives me five options to choose from while performing in a scene. He’s worked hard to look the part he is playing. The way he walks, talks and even looks will receive applause from the audience. He will definitely steal the show,” he signs off.
NAYANATARA
Approched for Fashion
A
A source close to a Mumbai based production company, which made director Madhur Bhandarkar’s Bollywood super hit Fashion (2008), revealed that the production house has recently approached actress Nayantara to play the lead role when they decided to remake their Fashion in Tamil. According to the production house officials, they could not think of any other actress capable of doing such a role in the South. “There is no other actress right now who has the right attitude and acting capabilities to carry the role made memorable by Priyanka Chopra in the original,” the source said. Nayanthara is keeping a low profile for the last few months by her studious silence and is avoiding public appearances. She was unavailable for any quote after the sensational news about Prabhu Deva’s mutual divorce with wife Ramlath at Chennai family court came through. On the other hand she scorched the TV screens with an Textile industry ad that was recently shot by cameraman Rathnavelu ofEnthiran fame and Shankar, a former assistant of A.L. Vijay, directed it. Art director Selva of Madrasapattinam fame has also designed a huge set for this ad. 8 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011

PRAVEEN’S
Injury Paves way for Sreesanth
P
Praveen’s elbow injury has stopped him from achieving his World Cup dream. Sreesanth should still be visiting temples and praying hard. Apparently, Praveen Kumar has not recovered from his elbow injury. Insides tell us that he even underwent a fitness test for his injury but his participation in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is in jeopardy as he had to go back home to consult the same surgeon who has treated Sachin Tendulkar in London. Despite it is clear now that his injury has failed to heal. This comes to seeking a replacement. Apparently, Sreesanth is put on standby and he underwent a fitness test also. Elbow injury has given a blow to India. Indian Captain, M.S.Dhoni says that,’ Praveen was sent back home so that he could be fit for the world cup’. With just a fortnight to go for the Cricket World Cup, this has opened an opportunity for Sreesanth to enter the World Cup. Finally, injured Praveen is out and Sreesanth is in.
RONALDO SPARKLES His win taking Centerstage
R
Real Madrid and Valencia both enjoyed comfortable home wins in the Spanish League. Cristiano Ronaldo who had not scored for four games took the centerstage. The Portuguese idol made it 2-0 with his left foot after a clever 1-2 with Kaka. Then he headed in a corner from Mesut Ozil just before half time to make it 3-0. Real Madrid looked tired in the second half. Even so, Ronaldo came close to completing his hat-trick on three occasions and Kaka hit the crossbar with a fierce drive. Following this, Ronaldo is now level in the scorer’s chart on 24 goals with Barca’s Lionel Messi who had a hat-trick against Atletico. Arbeloa gave Sociedad a consolation goal 19 minutes from time by turning a rebound from keeper Iker Casilles into his own goal. This game was a turning point for the Manchester United player, Ronaldo who thrashed the Sociedad by his taking off the centerstage with his classy left foot free licks.
SUPER BOWL
F
Draws Record Audience
For the second year in a row, a combination of bad weather, unmatched marketing prowess and the unquestioned status of the NFL as the nation’s most popular spectator sport boosted Super Bowl XLV to a record television audience. Game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington was viewed by an average audience of 111 million viewers. That broke the record of 106.5 million set by last year’s New Orleans-Indianapolis game, which unseated the longtime record-holder, the final episode of M*A*S*H in 1983. M*A*S*H still holds the record for the highest Nielsen rating at 60.2, and its record of 106 million viewers on average was for years believed to be unbeatable as television morphed from the three-network era into today’s multichannel universe. But the NFL’s skyrocketing popularity pushed it to the top last year and former CBS Sports executive Rick Gentile, now a professor at Seton Hall University, said the inevitable math of a growing population and the NFL’s continued success means that the sky is the limit for future Super Bowl audiences’’. Nielsen estimated that 162.9 million people watched at least a portion of game, breaking the record of 153.4 million for last year’s Super Bowl. Audience levels were boosted by the competitive nature of the game and boosting the percentage of people at home watching television. FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011 TULIP 9

MOVIE MANIACS
Yeh Saali Zindagi Review By Hassan Ali
A weekend to while away and don’t know what to do. Catch up with a movie in your nearest cinema halls. Before you head for a day of fun, butter popcorns and visual treat to those tired eyes, read on our verdict on this fortnights latest movie. So many good reviews took me to the theatre to watch this movie, had great expectation from Sudhir Mishra whose always been good with offbeat movies like ‘Hazaaron Khwaish Aisi’ which a was extraordinary movie, This movie does well in terms of bringing out the potential of actors, all the actors perform really well and deserve huge appreciation for this one. Chitrangda Singh is back on the silver screen with a bang, acting to perfection. I would like to mention that the two new entrants into the bandwagon Arunoday Singh who plays the role of a young gangster with an eye opening performance and Aditi Rao who is a new comer too does well in bit of a role she got in the movie and yes how can I forget the USP of the movie the man himself Irfan Khan is naturally so wonderful that it’s a treat to watch him onscreen as always. Ok the movie plot Arun [Irrfan Khan] who has to save Priti [Chitrangda Singh], the woman he loves, but for that he first has to save the man Priti loves, Shyam [Vipul Gupta], the future son-in-law of a powerful Minister. Meanwhile, time is running out for Kuldeep [Arunoday Singh], the young gangster who is on his last job as his wife [Aditi Rao Hydari] is threatening to walk out of his life and he begins to suspect and starts getting insecure thinking that she is leaving him to go into the arms of another man. The job has gone haywire for it is still unknown to Kuldeep that the ministers daughter’s engagement with Shyam is off and now she is not bothered about bankrupt Shyam anymore nor her minister dad is bothered about Shyam who Kuldeep thinks will pay the ransom for Kuldeep. Here comes into picture Irfan Khan who has to save her love Priti’s life but has to risk everything and put his own life on stake but he thinks why should he get his life into trouble who is in love with another man but he’s in love with Priti which makes him do anything for his love. Sudhir Mishra has worked hard on the screenplay but lacks in bringing in so many stories together which gets lost couple of times, and the movie becomes slogging and boring, the story line is good but it is not depicted effectively as they make the movie very confusing and boring too, most of the time the movie will make you think about the whole story line to get back on track to understand this movie. No neither the popcorn nor the cool drinks will help you in this matter. The best part about the movie is the role of the Arunoday Singh who along with another new comer is cast opposite him Aditi Rao has one electrifying chemistry which is the best thing about the movie, there are scenes of these two which are very electrifying, all in all the pair is here to stay, kudos to both of them. The music of the movie is soothing and good for the ears, the title track “ye saali zindagi” is one good rock song, another song Sararara is also a gud track which is portrayed beautifully.
One final word on this one, this one is not a very engaging movies, so you can miss this one, I rate this one a 5 on 10, don’t waste your time on this one. 16 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011

“ Frie nds are t he siblings God forgo t to giv e us.” By Bhuvana Balaji
“Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we
choose.” This beautiful quote by Tennessee William perfectly describes friends who inspire you to follow your heart, who proudly flaunt the champion that
you are, relentlessly back you up with your secrets and are the best dose of fun and support;
always and forever. It also personifies the bond shared by
LAVRAJ BHALERAO and ANIL KUMAR YADAV, the Hyderabadis who have made it big, are busy as hell, but still find quality time for friends. Let’s take a sneak peek into their vibrant lives as they have a rendezvous with Tulip. Anil and Lavraj met 10 years back when they studied in St Mary’s college together, and that was the beginning of this impressive friendship tale, which has had its share of thrills, surprises, fun and excitement. “We are seven close friends who are very tight all of us are in Hyderabad. Each one is from a different walk of life, we discuss our problems, share everything about each other and make sure we meet up daily,” says Lavraj with a nonchalant smile. Anil Kumar Yadav is currently into politics. He is the Secretary of the Youth Congress in AP; while Lavraj is handling his dad’s construction business and has his very own venture capitalism firm to take care of. Talking about unforgettable memories and the times spent together, both of them answer in unison saying, “If it’s about college, then it’s everyday if you ask about now, we still have the same answer each day we spend together is very special.” As they try hard to pick a particular moment, Lavraj quips, “We can’t really specify any cherished moment as we spend almost every day together…we make sure all of us at least meet up for dinner so we have lots of recollection to do. But yeah Anil’s marriage a couple of years back was something very special, that is one of the most unforgettable moments. There were a lakh and 10,000 people, it was really crazy back then and we had a blast.” College is a phase where we have most of the fun with friends, as everyone gets busy and are scattered based on their area of interest. When asked about times spent together in college, Anil says, “Back in college? I never used to attend college it was all outside college that I had fun with these guys,” and Lavraj completely agrees with him as they exchange mischievous smiles. “When it comes to hobbies, it’s always a big no to books but then yes I like listening to music, we also work out together. fooling around all the time what do I tell you got serious just a couple of years ago till then, it has always been about fun for us,” adds Lavraj with a broad smile.
Sometimes, interests apart from our career come in the bigleague. Talking about it, Anil reveals saying, “Since I am a politician my interests and career always pair up. It would include serving the poor, helping the needy and working for the betterment of the society.
Talking about disagreeing or fighting over things, Lavraj remarks saying that the best part is everyone knows about every other person. “We all are aware of each other’s comfort zone our strengths weaknesses we share all our experiences problems secrets so there has never ever been the bitching sort of a thing among any of us so yeah we have never had fights or any misunderstandings. It has all been a very smooth ride for us.”
“My interests are not that deep, I like my work but I am crazy about bikes…I like riding bikes and driving cars,” says Lavraj enthusiastically. Everyone experiences instants and incidences they will never forget and when it comes to these guys, there’s a lot more than a few. “The best was when we went to Bombay to attend the wedding of one of our very close friends. It was a total recipe for disaster…specifications kept aside we had some amazing moments back then…all the seven of us it was one of the most awesome times we spent together,” recollects Lavraj as they animatedly talk about the trip. “We also keep going to Delhi very often; Anil has a house over there. So whenever his dad is not there…we hang out over there…Delhi is like our second home,” Lavraj says with a smirk. When asked about the best gift they received from each other, they say, “Basically having each other is the best gift for all of us…we got each other’s back all the time,” says Anil. “But Anil never remembers birthdays the months yeah but jokes apart we all wish each other at 12 o’clock with cakes we keep
As they proceeded with the talk, this is what they had to say about the defining moments in the lives. “We just started off, so I wouldn’t really wanna call achieving something a defining moment actually we are all really lucky that we have been together for so long it’s amazing how everything has turned out to be.. We all have family by chance and friends by choice. And friends always have been there for us at all points of time.” “If you ask me, academically wrapping up my MBA was a defining moment. For Anil every election is a significant moment the amount of effort and hard work he puts into his work is incredible,” says Lavraj, adding that he admires Anil for what he does. Friends always look upto each other at some point of life, to either draw inspiration or learn to follow the right path. When asked about what they admire about each other, Lavraj instantly responds stating that Anil is a very composed person. “He takes things in his stride and has a neutral approach to many issues that is one of the main reasons why he is a successful and a smart politician.”
FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011 TULIP 19
SPECIAL BONDING Whereas, Anil says that Lavraj is an emotional person and gets carried away by happiness and sadness. “A very emotional person apart from that, he is a very chilled out guy and a fun person to hang out with.” “We are basically very non-interested in people even with our outer circle of friends only if they tell us something we hear them out you will never find us digging into things about others and trying to find out about them we stick to our gang we socialize but we are not the snoopy kind,” says Lavraj, while talking casually about how they spend their time together.. “Anil is very professional he does his work punctually and very sincerely follows deadlines that’s one thing I have admired about him and learnt from him otherwise it has always been about fun for me He always has his goals defined and he makes sure he does it. I was very casual about it initially, I learnt my work ethics from him.” “He is very serious about work now we don’t really party much as we used to before we prefer hanging out with the guys and doing our own thing. I think it’s more fun that way. Parties and pubs have become really boring the same old crowd, the same old gossip,” says Anil with a smile. “Talking about immediate future, I am really excited about taking care of Anil’s kid, he was born on 26th January, and now Anil wants me to get married,” says Lavraj with a laugh. Talking about secrets, Lavraj responds saying, “We are like family there is nothing we hide from each other and no we are not revealing secrets.” ;) Friends are acquaintances who are there for you during sheer hardship and delight alike. Life is a lot easier with friends to depend on and the world is a lot more fun place to be. We wish that you guys have many more moments, days and years of fun, have a lot more secrets to share; followed by abundant happiness and joy.

Egolicious or Chocolicious
! !! s y o B e b a tt o g s y Bo
By Saloni Gupta
From the sandbox to the chocolaty mousse… boys are often associated as the supposed superior sex. Born on this planet boys have always had the traits of being, ‘’ The Macho- Egolicious Boys’ or The Sugar-coated Chocolicious Boys!!!’’
I
t’s fun to talk about boys… Boys with gorgeous eyes, groovy hair, cute smiles, six-pack abs, highly egoistic and the tough ones!
I am not sure if you can call it a secret but boys are different with various personalities like high on ego or sweetnatured… boys will always be boys! Boys can be the original macho hero’s and there are boys who are as sweet as a drop of honey! Let’s see, what the deal with these kinda boys…is; Egolocious or Chocolicious??? Ego is always said to be boy’s best buddy! Boys are regarded as unemotional, always happy in all the pictures of life. He never cries when he is hurt as that would give a black spot on his ‘manhood’ image. Even though our macho boys have hearts of wax which can melt away actually at the drop of a pin they are totally against it to admit the fact… ‘mard ko dard nahin hota’.
Ego and boys go hand in hand. Boys are superbly proud of their attire, pumped up muscles, counting the cars, list of girlfriends and on and on… these are tough boys who have it all their own way and just have a complete no-no for anything that could let their ego’s down. And, undoubtedly, there is a hidden child in every… Ego, Ego and Egolicious boys!!! Ahh…Chocolicious boys!!! They are super cute… and have a soft corner in their hearts. These chocolaty boys are very sensitive and also emotional. They actually get hurt when it hurts! As sweet as a sugar candy these boys are admired by many girls. Spreading smiles all around even a drop of tear can actually melt their hearts. . These boys own the tag of cute mama’s boys and love to be pampered all the time!!! And, undoubtedly, there is a hidden ego in every… Chocó, Chocó and Chocolicious boys!!! FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011 TULIP 21
VIEW POINT Ooh la la… Go ahead boys, be counted and tell us what kinda you are! And girls, Shine on! Choose your choice! Egolocious or Chocolicious???
“Totally inspired by being human. I am a damn cute boy and excessively chocolicious . Ego is far off my nature. Very much happy to be what I am.”
“A guy who is egolicious is my choice! I don’t like pampering at all and as far as my nature is concerned, personally, I don’t like sweet guys… Attitude is what matters the most !”
Mohit Sirwani, Student.
“Egoism is better than ambiguity. I find egoloicious boys more favorable and impressive. Their exaggerated sense of self-importance and arrogance is wooing than any kind and sweet-hearted boy, if this generation speaks about the two clauses.” Fatima Khan, Business Entrepreneur
“Chocolicious would be my choice. These kinda boys are extra fun-loving and their presence is always felt around.” Nikhita Pitti, Animation Student
“Any day, a good balance of both would me my choice... As, a boy without an ego does not exist, and a sensitive heart is a must. So I would go for someone who’s at the thin line between the two.”
Anahita Ahuja, Student of Design
“Well… for me, there exists a thin line between the two. I would subscribe to be more of the chocolicious kinds, because I love to be pampered and filled with emotions.” Aamer Javed, Youth Congress Leader
“A guy with the sweetness of Toblerone and bitterness of Bourneville is the one for me! Boys are like waterproof mascara and run at the first sign of emotion. Who can stand by me through thick and thin. I don’t believe the one who says, in I love you but in that boy Pujith Uthappa, Dell Employee. who does show it to me!”
Egolicious kinds, can describe me well. Love being myself. Well… exteriors I can at times be sensitive, but… but… very proud of my ego!”
“Me complete chocolicious kinds. Ego has nothing to do with me. Totally a mama’s boy and girl’s favorite! Love to make everyone smile around and very down to earth. I am like a drop of honey, sooo sweet!”
“Ummhh… I am a mixture of both kinds very equally. It all depends on the picture of life, experiences and with the kind of people I am with.”
Fahad Asif, Airport Official
Vaibhav Agarwal, B.com Student.
Abbas Khan, BachelorParis Santosh, De Salon, Owner.
So to sum up, the indescribable personality boys have, there is a perfect song, which goes something like this…
“My attitude defines my personality, being witty is my specialty. Confident, charming and stylish. A debonair in true sense.” Abbas Khan, Bachelor 22 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011

Oh! HYDERABAD, why do you still ‘Hide’? So, what’s the gender of God again? Male or female! And again if so like we believe, God is love…. So what gender is love again? If we are not quite sure of the above two, the obvious next question is why opposites should always and must attract, by law (Who made the law?). And why can’t we have a ‘not opposite partner to love and make love’?

ounds complicated? Well, the way the world has coined love and its relationships come under the same umbrella. We are all aware of the ultimate truth that we all possess unique DNA and that our feelings, emotions and understandings vary according to this design. Still we fail to accept few universal realities, one being that, there are people living in this world who for love’s sake (Damn the blind cupid) fall in love with people of the same sex. India, as a country is not new to this concept. Dig a little into history and you will be only taken by surprise that kings and queens had ‘keep’ majority being of the same sexual category. So, why this hue and cry about the existence of lesbian or gay individuals on this phase of the earth? Genetic is a funny thing, but people are capable of feeling masculine or feminine at the same time. Well, when I mention people, it includes you and me as well. In every one of us there exists masculine and feminine sexuality. When one dominates the other, we behave different-

And the other reason being that they choose to like people of the same sex, it may become the outcome of some incident that has resulted in a rather bad taste during the whole episode. Still in spite of this awareness, they are mocked, rejected and are ridiculed. With all greatness and pride I have of the city I live, still Hyderabad, ‘Hyd’s’ away. The city we live proclaims itself to be tolerant and is welcoming with open alms the metrosexual man and the fashionable ‘diva’ women. It’s great the way the country, the state and city, the families have changed their thought about bonding relationships outside the

I believe every person has rights, various rights, but what I don’t agree is that we have the right to point our fingers, judge and defy any person for any matter. For a minute I want you to just take a look at yourselfwho are you? What are you? What has been made out of
you? Just that you have everything normal does not give you and me the reason to judge anybody. Leave alone judgments, some of our decisions, choice in lives, if only it comes out of our respective closets may actually stink and be so shallow like a decaying skeleton. Did these words hurt you? When anybody questions our character, our thoughts, actions and decisions, we fight back with every ounce of life and energy in us.
“When anybody questions our character, our thoughts, actions and decisions, we fight back with every ounce of life and energy in us”
Shift your thought to these guys, who also live and love like us, how much more do you think it would hurt? I’m not rounding up sympathy here. Get a little empathetic here! They already have quite a many challenges to face. To accept the fact who they are! At least some of them have the guts to face the fact and accept the fact what their identity is all about. Some of us ‘perfect being’ are living in a constant illusion of a life that we are blinded by all the realities of our being. Their constant challenge of finding a ‘true love’! Tell me how different is this
endless search from them? Love is all what we need and love is all what we have and can give. Doesn’t half of the world just fight for this? Even they do, which is perfectly normal. Another reason that explains we are all equal.

“Every individual’s ardent desire is to live a life with ‘the person they love’. So since when did ‘love this person’ become gender based?“ Every individual’s ardent desire is to live a life with ‘the person they love’. So since when did ‘love this person’ become gender based? Imagine if the rule that every man has to marry the opposite was never a rule at all, do you think the question of, “I’m straight or I’m not”, would even exist? I don’t really think. Rules, traditions and society who created them and defined the laws for them? We-the people, and as time changes, all the above factors evolve. You will be surprised we are all the results of evolution and will forever be. Rewind a decade back and look into you standard of being and compare it with the present. Haven’t you evolved materialistically, financially and even in style and thought? You have evolved from letter to emails and so and so forth. You have evolved into spreading your boundaries and opening the doors to welcome a new tradition and language into your threshold, then why not this? Don’t you think it is time to really look at that wall, we have all built against people who have decided to live the way they want, tumble down. It’s a risk! Tell me the relationship you and I live, what levels of risk do we face, almost similar? Divorce and live-in relationship are becoming the norm of the day, what levels of risk are we facing here? How do we react to these questions? Love has no language, emotion has no tradition, and expres-
“Let’s not put a fight against them. Let’s not shut them out from our lives and the society. Let us find a way of letting them in, by accepting them.” sion has no physical outline. Then why is that we define people and their choices of life in boxes and right and wrong. Let’s not put a fight against them. Let’s not shut them out from our lives and the society. Let us find a way of letting them in, by accepting them. If we push and force them to get into a ‘normal relationship’, we will be taking part in a crime. Yes! We will be murdering their root of life by their throat into forcing them into an unwanted relationship against the will and wish of people. And if you point out saying, this is not natural, I’d like to pose a question, is being natural, being right? Or what is the definition of being natural? Natural means to be original’ you and I are original as there is none like you and me. And if we are natural and original why do we again compare or analyze what and who is right? Again I’ll boil down to another question. Is happiness more important than tradition? All I have known is we celebrate traditions and it’s just an extension of getting together and enjoying moments beautiful and full of love with your near and dear one’s. Imagine if we could just open up and be surrounded by pure love and people in love, we will all live in peace. We are in the 21st century, every rule we are breaking and creating, why not this. Why not just this! Accept them, allow them to breathe, walk and talk with us.
Gay Activists
Let them enjoy the beauty of this life, live the rhythm of everyday and sway in the music of its moment. They have hearts and they have the heart to love, cherish and live. I would love to quote “Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind “- a quote of Shakespeare’s famous , A Midsummer Night’s Dream . Of all the war’s we have faced and fought, this indeed is a war of acceptance from a blindness will either makes all of us or break all us in the coming days. You may think I must me living in an illusion and a dreamer but friends, this is the truth I have accepted them to be normal people like you and me. My heart goes out to them and I really hope they find their freedom and in the due course find your meaning and face to face reality of who and what you are. FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011 TULIP 25

Colors can add a style quotient to any of the men’s outfit and accessories. A lot of men are quite simple, and swapping over a colorful palette will create a new look. For a long time, men settled in their usual blacks, grays, navies and beige. Spring
gives a wardrobe memo to men like the flashy pink, off-beat yellow, cobalt blue, orange and lilac while you’re at it. You just need to spend a little extra time to get the surreal and colorful look for a trendy, casual, office, party, sporty and a beach wear! Many of the brands like; United Colors of Benetton, Color Plus, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Puma, Pantaloons, Sisley and more… are very diverse. Anything from flashy shirts and socks of unexpected bright to torn jeans and romantic floral prints can be the spring collection in their own unique ways. These brands have started using the splash of colors, which has become a fashion trend today. Indeed starting from the fruity perfumes, sun-protecting caps, shady look, button-down shirts, round-neck t-shirts, shiny belts, trendy jeans or pants, classy shoes or flip-flops to the flashy socks and a stylish suit with a solid tie will complete the glam look, head-to-toe Color’s can actually inspire and brighten up their lives. There are tones that are calm and make men feel lyrical, but there are even colors which don’t provoke any emotions but are still interesting to get that trendy look. The idea is that, bright colors will actually put men in the mood to open their wallets!
Crayola colors may be hot, but worn in the right way will look delightful to the eyes.

In medium bowl, whisk together eggs, herbs, salt and pepper until eggs are light and foamy (about 30 seconds). Heat medium nonstick skillet over high heat 30 seconds or until hot. Add butter, swirling over bottom and sides of pan as it melts. Heat until foam subsides and butter just begins to turn light brown and smell nutty (watch carefully so butter does not turn deep brown and burn). Pour egg mixture into pan; immediately begin stirring eggs with flat side of fork while shaking pan back and forth over burner. When eggs begin to form curds and longer flow over bottom of pan (about 30 seconds; top of eggs will still be very moist), spread eggs in single layer. Add filling, if desired. Lift pan to 45-degree angle, fold top edge of omelet over filling to middle. Run rubber spatula over bottom edge to release omelet; place bottom edge of omelet on plate. Tip pan over plate to form omelet. For the roasted potatoes cut them into 1/4 inch strips, season like you would a salad with olive oil, pepper and garlic salt. Place them in tin foil and bake in the oven at 450 degrees for 30 minutes.

Performing with Sting at the Channel [V] Awards in 1998 is one of the highlights in my singing career. And this will definitely be another experience I look forward to.” Looks like apro Shiamak Davar is not only spreading the joy of dance across India and Canada, but also doing his part to strengthen Indo-Canadian ties at every given opportunity.

Raveena Tandon, Rhea Pillai, Madhoo Shah, Bijal Meswani, Bhavna & Chunky Pandey, Gautam Singhania, Vijay Mallaya, Yash Birla are expected to attend the concert and parties and let their hair down since their favourite star of the late 80's and early 90's is here. Some of the VVIP's are expected to stick to the white tees and denim dress code since Bryan Adams is fond of the same. Most of them are excited to relive their "18 Till I Die" days by wearing their colorful bandanas, black nail paint and torn jeans. Sunil and Mana Shetty have decided to go vegetarian for Bryan Adams especially during the tour dates so that Bryan Adams is at ease and they can play perfect hosts. 30 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011
BRYAN ADAMS IN PERSON We have also heard that Bryan Adams being a very private person, was not keen on any social engagements and wanted to focus purely on giving India a power packed musical treat. However upon persuasion by the organisers, he politely obliged to grace the hospitality parties in each city for sometime since there is a long list of A-Listers who are eager to interact with the legend in person and he is eager to present the donation cheque to Save the Children India. We must admit an international superstar without the starry tantrums who lives his life just like a regular person. Something our industry should learn from. This is also the very first time that an international concert will be seeing Bollywood 's A-Listers doing opening acts alongside international dance and music acts before Bryan Adams begins to perform on stage, as a tribute to the Oscar nominated legend. Speaking of musical icons, Bryan Adams stated, "I'm always drawn to voices, so the great blues and R+B singers influenced me, who also influenced the singers i grew up listening to, Robert Plant, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, all influenced by American soul music, they in turn inspired me. I'm also drawn to singer songwriters like Jackson Browne, Elton John, Bob Dylan and many more."

Yes, nothing is said about it, no revelations - nothing, but we all know Infinity Ward and Treyarch releases a title every alternate year. So come 2011, its Infinity Ward’s turn to release a title, which is going to be Modern Warfare 3. The game will continue where its left off. Mactavish and Price will hunt for Makarov with support from the undercover Russian ‘Nikolai’. Yes Infinity ward has lost its key members, yes there are rumours that the project might be given to Sledgehammer but the fan-base and past success will still make Modern Warfare 3 the most anticipated game of 2011.
Doom 4: (iD Software) - PC game You thought quake was hard hitting? Or you thought doom is interesting then hold your breath,The creators of the great Doom and Quake franchise iD software with John Carmack at the helm, will give us DOOM 4 this year. They have announced that Award Winning Sci-Fi writer Graham Joyce, author of ‘The Tooth Fairy’, ‘Dark Sister’ and ‘The Stormwatcher’, is to be writing the story for Doom 4. As usual Doom 4 will have id Software’s new technology iD Tech 5. John Carmack said that Doom 4 will look three times better than Rage! Based on this statement alone, I can assure you this is going to be one of the best games of 2011.

Batman: Arkham City - Console and PC game One word for this game, this is better than “the dark knight” do I say anything more? Arkham City, like its predecessor, is an action video game that incorporates elements of stealth and predator tactics. All of the gadgets previously obtained in the first game will be present at the start of Arkham City, some possessing improved or new capabilities. At least two additional gadgets have been revealed: smoke bombs which Batman can use and sneak away in the confusion, and a broadcast tracer device to locate signals and track them to their sources. The game incorporates more puzzle elements; the use of Batman’s “Detective Mode”, which highlights elements such as enemy skeletons and clues on-screen, is used to perform forensic analysis at crime scenes, such as tracing the origin of a sniper round.
Max Payne 3 : (Rockstar Games) - PC game Here is my personal favourite; I loved the earlier two versions, though the movie was awful, the game has always been a favourite, if you though the earlier two versions were cakewalk, this one’s at its witty best. Earlier stated to be released in 2009, we will see it finally being released in 2011. As per the developers, Max Payne has grown old this time round. The events take place some 12 years after the Max Payne 2 episode. The game is set in Sao Paulo, where Max is now working in a private security sector for a wealthy local family. Will we see Mona Sax, I doubt it. But one thing is for sure, its going to be a hell of ride.

PRESSED FLOWER CARDS
uidence Parents G Required
Materials Needed Pressed flowers, stems, leaves, card stock, tweezers, small soft brush, Perfect Paper Adhesive, background paper or fabric (optional) HOW TO MAKE 1) Select the pressed flowers, stems, ands leaves you will be using – make sure the size of your pressed flowers will be the right size for your composition. Pressed flowers can be bought online or better yet, press your own in just minutes with an iron. 2) Take a moment to arrange the flowers on your card, taking note of how and where you want to position them. The pressed flowers can be mounted directly on the card itself, or you may want to adhere a background of fabric, or handmade paper to the card stock first (like I do), before gluing the flowers down. 3) Using a tweezers to hold the pressed flower, apply a very small amount of Perfect Paper Adhesive - Matte to the back of the flower, position it on the card, and gently press down. Do the same with the stems and leaves. Some artists prefer to glue fern leaves, or other decorative foliage down first, and place the flowers on top of them. Do whatever seems natural to you! 4) Once you’ve finished adhering your pressed flowers/foliage, it’s a good idea to place the card under a heavy book for a few minutes. The firm pressure will ensure that your pressed flowers will dry flat. 5) Your card is ready to go, but will it be able to survive a trip through the mail? Maybe not. It used to be that the best options of protection were to use contact paper, wax paper, or lamination to protect the pressed flowers, but the results were, not surprisingly, plastic and unnatural looking. TIMESLESS TALES RETOLD Cricket World Cup history starts from the year 1975, the first World Cup held in England. Eight teams participated in that World Cup and it was a popular success which grabbed many eye balls. West Indies were the winner in the inaugural World Cup. The final was between West Indies and Australia. West Indies won the game by 18 runs. Cricket World Cup history then witnessed the second World Cup in the year 1979, once again in England. Again eight teams participated in this event and once again repeating history West Indies emerged as winners. Final was between West Indies and England. West Indies beat England by 92 runs. The third World Cup was a remarkable one for Indian Cricket. India defeating the mighty West Indies. With a historic win they defeated West Indies in the finals by 43 runs. siders to world champions. It included Kapil Dev’s magnificent knock against Zimbabwe that changed India’s fortunes to that upset victory over West Indies. The fourth World Cup reached new boundaries, as the tournament was hosted for the first time outside England. India and Pakistan were the joint hosts of the tournament. The final was between Australia and England and the former won the cup by just 7 runs. This is still the closest World Cup final, when one considers the World Cup of ODIs. Cricket World Cup history got richer and richer, as the world entered into the fifth World Cup. This time, the hosts were Australia and New Zealand. With this, another venue was added in the history of Cricket World Cup. Pakistan was the new world champions, pinning England in a tense final that ended in a 22 run Pakistani victory. Imran Khan got retired after winning the World Cup for his team. This time, the number of teams was nine.
With the 1996 World Cup, the sixth Cricket World Cup was once again hosted by the sub continent, as India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were the joint hosts of the World Cup. This World Cup got a new winner in Sri Lanka. They won the finals by 6 wickets against the Australians. Cricket World Cup history saw another U turn at the seventh World Cup when they returned to England after a span of 16 years. Pakistan was the finalist this time. This World Cup victory marks the reign of Australian Cricket over the world of Cricket that lasted for almost a decade. In 2003, the eighth Cricket World Cup history unfolded the drama in yet another breath taking venue – South Africa. India made it to the finals but again lost the finals to Australia by a huge margin of 122 runs. The last chapter till date, the ninth World Cup venue was West Indies. The group of island countries marked the reign of another Aussie victory in the World Cup finals. Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 53 runs to complete their third straight World Cup victory and fourth World Cup victory overall. FIGHTING WITH THE BAT, BALL AND WORDS!!! Pakistan and India are very expressive at stadium. Similarly, Australia and England take part in the game more sensitively. You can have more fun while watching matches between these countries. Some noteworthy epic encounters, thrilling moments and disappointing clashes are jotted here. See if you can remember them. 1992 World Cup - India Vs Pakistan Miandad Mimicker- Javed Miandad could not take any more of Kiran More constantly irritating him behind the stumps, so after a hit he performs his jumping jack skills. Three Test Series 1981 - Australia Vs Pakistan Dennis Lillee, the famous moustache man and controversial Javed Miandad, indulged in an incident which tarnished not only their reputations, but also the image of Test cricket. Lillee clashed heatedly with Javed Miandad and kicked him near his thigh while Miandad responded with lifting his bat to hit him. Umpire Tony Crafter was forced to stand between the two in order to stop a full scale punch on developing. The two players’ versions of events differ - both their autobiographies feature a lot of self-justification. Miandad claimed that Lillee blocked him and “pushed him out of the way”; Lillee’s version of events has Miandad subjecting him to abuse as he approached and Lillee replying in kind no mention of any contact. 1981- Australia Vs New Zealand Greg Chappell told his brother Trevor to bowl underarm along the ground for the final delivery of a limited-over’s international against New Zealand on February 1, 1981. The action prevented tailender Brian McKechnie hitting the six runs required for a tie in the first match of the finals series. Trevor Chappell, a three-Test veteran and the lesser-known younger brother of Australian captains Ian and Greg, said at least it meant he was famous for something. The only positive to come from the incident was the rule change outlawing the ploy. 38 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011

When quizzed on why the World Cup Matches weren’t held in our city pat comes the convincing reply “ICC has their norms to allow a stadium to be selected as a venue for such matches and for that we have to be a test match centre which we have now become after the recent test match of India & New Zealand but by the time we got this match ICC had already finalized the centers. Hence forth in the future Hyderabad will be given the privilege of such international matches.”

HEALTH CHECKUP
Wisdom teeth are a pain. Some of us are unaffected by them, others develop painful conditions that require their immediate removal. It is not always a wise decision to keep your wisdom teeth.
wisdom
teeth What are wisdom teeth? Wisdom teeth are your third molars that are way in the back of your mouth. You usually have four wisdom teeth, one in each corner of your mouth - two on top, two on bottom. Wisdom teeth are the last of your teeth to come in, or erupt through the gums. They normally emerge between ages 17 and 25, a time of life that has been called the “Age of Wisdom. Anthropologists note that the rough diet of early humans resulted in the excessive wear of their teeth. Normal drifting of the teeth to compensate for this wear ensured that space was available for most wisdom teeth to erupt by adolescence. The modern diet, which is much softer, and the popularity of orth46 TULIP FEBRUARY 16-28, 2011
HEALTH CHECKUP odontic tooth straightening procedures produce a fuller dental arch, which quite commonly doesn’t leave room for the wisdom teeth to erupt, thereby setting the stage for problems when the final four molars enter the mouth.
What are impacted wisdom teeth? Wisdom teeth do not always cause complications or pain, but because many people have too little space in their jaw, they sometimes grow at an angle, pushing on, or getting stuck against, other teeth. This is known as impacted wisdom teeth, and it affects almost three out of four people in their 20s. A trip to the dentist for an x-ray of your teeth can tell you if your wisdom teeth are impacted.
What are the symptoms of impacted wisdom teeth? Symptoms include: Pain or jaw stiffness near the impacted tooth. Pain or irritation from a tooth coming in at an awkward angle and rubbing against your cheek, tongue, or top or bottom of the mouth. Infected swelling in the flap of gum tissue that has formed on top of an impacted tooth that has partially broken through the gum.
Pressure Pain: Pain may also come from the pressure of the erupting wisdom tooth against other teeth. In some cases this pressure may cause the erosion of these teeth. Prosthetic Reasons: Patients who are to have dentures constructed should have any wisdom tooth removed. If a wisdom tooth erupts beneath a denture it will cause severe irritation and if removed, the patient will need to have a new denture constructed as the shape of the gum will have changed. Cyst Formation: A cyst (fluid filled sac) can develop from the soft tissue around an impacted wisdom tooth. Cysts cause bone destruction, jaw expansion and displacement or damage to nearby teeth. The removal of the tooth and cyst is necessary to prevent further bone loss. Tumors may develop within these cysts or the jaw may fracture spontaneously if the cyst grows very large.
Crowding of other teeth. Tooth decay or gum disease if there’s not enough room to properly care for the wisdom tooth and surrounding teeth.
Why remove wisdom teeth? Wisdom teeth generally cause problems when they erupt partially through the gum. Below are the most common reasons for removing wisdom teeth. Tooth decay: Saliva, bacteria and food particles can collect around an impacted wisdom tooth, causing it, or the next tooth to decay. It is very difficult to remove such decay. Pain and infection will usually follow. Gum infection: When a wisdom tooth is partially erupted, food and bacteria collect under the gum causing a local infection. This may result in bad breath, pain, swelling and the inability to open your mouth fully. The infection can spread to involve the cheek and neck. Once the initial episode occurs, each subsequent attack becomes more frequent and more severe.
When should I have my wisdom teeth removed? It isn’t wise to wait until your wisdom teeth start to bother you. In general, earlier removal of wisdom teeth results in a less complicated healing process. Wisdom teeth can be removed by the time the patient is a young adult in order to prevent future problems and to ensure optimal healing. Older patients may be at greater risk for disease, including periodontitis, in the tissues surrounding the third molars and adjacent teeth. Periodontal infections may affect your general health also.
How can I prevent impacted wisdom teeth? Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about the angle your wisdom teeth will erupt at. However you can try to prevent infection of the erupting tooth by practicing good dental hygiene. Adequate brushing and flossing is essential. Although wisdom tooth surgery is not something people look forward to, modern surgical and anesthetic techniques have now combined to make such surgery a far more acceptable experience than in the past. STYLE FILE If you want to avoid the inevitable “what do I wear” crisis, it’s important to have ten key pieces in your closet. You may need to spend a little extra on a few of these items, but you’ll always be prepared for that surprise event. Here are the ten key pieces no man can do without.

Designed jeans
Button down shirt
Every man should have at least one pair of designer jeans. Levis or Diesel is the best options. They don’t have to be trendy or strange, just nice pair of good looking jeans that make you look good.
This is an essential wardrobe piece that can be dressed up or down. Pick a color that will give you the most options, such as white or light blue. Remember, a dressier fabric is easier to dress down than a rumpled cotton shirt is to dress up.
Leather belt Even if you despise belts, they can really pull a whole outfit together. Look for one with simple hardware that ’s not too flashy. Pick a color that matches your dressiest shoes or that will go with most of your wardrobe. Black and brown always an excellent choice.

A nice suit
Dress slacks
Even if you don’t think you’ll ever need to wear a suit, it doesn’t hurt to have one on hand. Whether it’s a surprise wedding reception or a fancy date, you’ll be all ready to go. Expect to pay 3500 to 5000 for a nice suit, but it should last you at least ten years. Go for a classic cut in either navy or black to get more wear out of it.
There are times when jeans are too little and a suit is too much. A classic pair of dress slacks always solves this problem. Whether you want to look nice for a date or you need to impress the boss, dress slacks are essential. Get a pair in a neutral color that will go with everything. Even for non-athletic types, athletic wear is great for those lazy Sundays and dashes to the convenience store at wee hours of the morning.
Shoes There’s no point in getting all these dressy items if you have a lousy pair of boots to go with them. Get at least one pair of nice dress shoes, preferably in black. Stay away from wingtips and stick with a classic shoe that will give you the most wear. These can be worn with khakis, jeans and your suit. This is an essential combo. Before buying brown, get black.
Sunglasses The right pair of sunglasses will complete an outfit. Look for a classic aviator style that will go well with everything.
Leather bomber jacket There is nothing like a bomber jacket. Dressed up or dressed down, they always work.
Solid Tie Solid ties are easy and versatile. If solid isn’t your thing, try a classic diagonal stripe. Having several tie patterns on hand will ensure you are prepared for interviews, weddings and evening events.
Nice overcoat Sneakers A sudden movie or coffee with your crush or a friendly get-together, sneakers is the best option when it comes to casual parties.
For the times when you just can’t get by with a bomber jacket, you’ll need a nice dress coat. For colder climates, get one is a nice wool. You can get away with a nice fabric trench coat if you live in warmer areas.
