The culinary legacy of Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine returned with its fourth season in the city. Three years of master chef classes, sophisticated gala dinners and endless showcase of culinary expertise, they have managed to develop an inexpressible excitement among gourmands and aficionados. Followed by, ‘the 1000 year old traditional art of Sichuan noodle making’: As an ancient family practice, before the machines took over, Sichuan families in the Chengdu province of China would practice the art of moulding a lump of dough into finely thin noodles with one’s hand. Divya Reddy
She is a person with a vibrant aura around her; she talks a lot and is a very easy-to-bond kind of a person. Her style sense - as she says might not be too visible on her but she definitely has a lot of it. Her debut at Lakme Fashion Week set a new trend for brides this season with her collection “Allure”. Her work has gained her a huge applause from the fashion industry and she is all set to be the next big thing. The collection is a conglomerate of soft, feminine, sensual and romantic outfits for the contemporary bride. She has even used pearls in her collection to portray Hyderabad’s royalty. Everything from the detailed and intricate embroidery to an array of pastel colours including light gold touches on her garments is designed to make a woman feel like the queen that she deserves to be on her wedding day. Tell us about how did your journey in fashion start? I love fashion. I went to study fashion in New York and then I went to Chicago Institute of Fashion, post which I did my internship at Dior. I was part of the fashion scene for quite some time now but I didn’t do anything about it even after returning to Hyderabad for a very long time. Slowly I started designing for my close friends and family. They have really motivated and supported me to take it to the next level commercially. So, I took part in one of the best exhibitions in the country to design one in Mumbai and it worked like magic. People loved my designs. They were so welcoming and then I was invited to be part of their Delhi exhibition which also went really well. I later did Bridal Asia and lot of other exhibitions as well. I mean doing the top exhibitions automatically gives 20 OCTOBER, 2015
you the visibility; also you connect with clients and understand the market and client needs on first hand basis which really helps. So, even I applied to the Lakme Fashion week. I was very sceptical because I was now compared to most of the established designers that were showcasing their collection and it is one of the biggest fashion weeks in the country. But, it has given me a great platform and a lot of happy clients. Tell us about your collection ‘Allure’, what was the inspiration behind it? Inspiration – people! When I first started, all I could think was ‘pastels’. Every girl loves pastels and it has a very dreamy vibe. I specially chose yellow because it is my first bridal collection and I needed the bridal touch somewhere, so, I said yellow is my colour. I have used pearls because
i am from Hyderabad and it was kind of representing my city on a Pan India platform. Zardozi is of course part of the ancient Nizami culture. I did a lot of research during my exhibitions days, paying attention to what colours people were picking up the most, what kind of work was being loved, colour combinations, cuts and of course silhouettes. So I tried to combine these with my ideas and there it was a collection inspired by people. So, what was your first job like? First ever paid job? I was actually a librarian. I needed a job to get myself a car and at that point the best available job was of a librarian. I said for the amount of talking I do, how can someone give me job to sit silent in a place like that, it was tough but I did it anyways (laughs). What are the stores you have your designs stocked up at? Right now I started off with Azaa in Mumbai, Karma and again Delhi as well. What about Hyderabad? Hyderabad, yes! I am in conversation with some multi designer stores and will soon have something ready. But, people here know me so when they want something they come to me and work from my studio for now. I am soon going to do a trunk show as well, so yeah people here, will be seeing a lot of my collection soon. My collection ‘Allure’ is a bridal wear, and not off the rack buy. So, I take my time understanding what my client needs and then give her my design. So far I have been blessed with customers coming back for more. I think it speaks how satisfied they are; its motivating. What’s next after your stint at the Lakme Fashion Week? I wish it was like that but Lakme is still a goal and it is also going to be the same grind soon. But, there are lot of stores in major cities that I am going to stock my stuff at apart from Delhi and Mumbai which already has it. Designers are exploring there forte just beyond apparels - everyone has an extended line of shoes and accessories these days. Should we expect something like that from your end too? Positively I’m not that talented (laughs). I am being appreciated for my clothing line and I want to do lot more in it. I don’t want to be ‘jack of all and master of none’. Like I mentioned my love for Elle Saab, it’s also because no matter how many lines, things he does, he never loses his essence and quality. Each of
his pieces is different but has a Elle Saab vibe in it without diluting any creativity and that’s the outlook I want to have towards my work. And since my clientele is growing day by day I want to concentrate on just this for now and give them much more in terms of collection, quality, designs and satisfaction.

Coming on more personal side what is the normal day like in Divya Reddy’s life? Mostly it’s just a busy day with work. I hardly step out these day’s; thanks to starbucks most of my meetings happen here so this is my only outing lately. After Lakme I am in a different zone, catering wider clientele and stores across major cities so there is lot on my plate right now and I am enjoying every bit of it. Lot of designers are collaborating with other designers these days, if you had a chance who would you like to collaborate with? I told you I don’t mind picking up boxes of Elle Saab; if he offers me a job I am going to take it without a second thought. Believe me I use to watch Elle Saab show on then famous F TV since I was a kid. His collection is very elite; I feel he starts a new trend with his collection every time without diluting his quality or the creativity. He is like the god of fashion to me. There was no time where I felt he faced any ups and down in his creativity, it was always stable and he is fabulous always. He is my first love in fashion.

Research On Fly Geyser, Nevada Fly Geyser, located in the Nevada Desert, is a collection of three large, colorful mounds which perpetually shoot five feet of water right up into the air. This beautiful manmade structure was created by accident and functioned perfectly fine or rather functioned un-creatively until the heated geothermal water began to erupt out of the well. The outcome of this accident was the dissolved minerals that began to accumulate and eventually formed these huge, colorful mounds. The Fly Geyser has been so secretly located that it has brought little attention to itself over years, and tourism or sightseeing is prohibited on this private property. Finding more about this beauty will only cost you a laptop and an internet facility. So start Googling!

Uyuni salt flats Uyuni flats of Southern Bolivia constitute the world’s largest salt desert (about 11,000 km sq). Transformations between many prehistoric lakes gave rise to the formation of The Salar. The surface of it includes a few meters of salt crust having unusual and extraordinary flatness with the average altitude variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar. The crust provides an excellent source of salt and covers a pool of brine. The salts give a breathtaking image of convergence of the land and the sky. Bolivia is one among the most affordable destinations, and all it would cost you to get to these mesmerizing flats is probably a bus ride for 0.20 US cents. So ride on!

Saloni Rastogi, an International Business student, recently flew to Greece (which took her 6 hours) to enjoy the May-June strong, yet pleasant, sun of The Plato Land. High on her assemblage of Greek memories, she says, “I loved the food! The countries have delicious and appetizing cuisines. Each of the places I visited had an interesting mythological story, and an enriching history attached to them. I also visited some of the most aesthetically pleasing sites that I had the opportunity to witness. The countries have different, yet beautiful cultures. The people I met and interacted with, were very helpful and friendly. I loved my stay!” She reminds, “The must tries are the hot air balloon ride at Cappadocia, the Turkish Apple Tea and Kebabs, and the tour along balconies of Hierapolis at Pamukkale. She finally concludes by stating, “Greece is one of the best places I have ever visited! ”We now move on from the Bang Bang land to the land of the Queen.
Travel Enthusiasts..
For years, or perhaps even centuries, there have been arguments, debates and discussions as to which gender beats the other on grounds of expenditure. Evidently, there has never really been a conclusion. Women side with women, men side with men and that, my friend, is the law of nature. Neither the he-team, nor the she-team would, however, disagree that despite all the quarrels, there are in fact coincidences amidst the deviances. Out of all kinds of love that men and women possess, there is one kind of love in particular that neither would deny. This love goes above and beyond all kinds -The love for travel. The following reviews further substantiate the statement. Just follow your arrow wherever it points. Hurmat Kaur, is a Fashion Designer in making and artist who, yet again, is another woman who loves to travel. Hurmat took the British Airways which got her to the Clock Tower in 9 hours. Hurmat recommends that June is an appropriate month to go all London-y because during June the weather is not in its extreme conditions and is, hence, pleasant for one to be outdoors. Hurmat expresses, “London is a beautiful city as it is very rich in its heritage and history. I simply fell in love with it! It is one of the fashion capitals, and since I am a Fashion Designing student , I was more than excited to witness the fashion around London too. I would recommend everyone I know to visit London at least once in their life. The parliament, London eye, Trafalgar square, Buckingham Palace and the Castle of Windsor to see upfront is a different experience all together. Shopping at Oxford street was on my bucket list and it came true!” Hurmat also adds to conclude , “Being a Harry Potter fan since childhood, visiting Warner Bros Studios was also a dream come true as well! The famous butter beer that you find at Warner Bros is also something every Harry Potter fan should try!” Namaste London!

Romaana Sabzeh, a Mass Communication student, took to traveling the 18 hour journey all the way to Paris with her best friend Huma Freed. Romaana jokes, “We went to Paris during mid-June, and the weather was pretty pleasant, contrary to the humidity we experience in Hyderabad.” She further exclaims, “With no adults or parents with us, or even a guide for that matter, the sense of freedom and individuality which enabled us to explore the beautiful city was a wonderful, and in fact, molding experience for us!” Romaana shares, “One night when we visited the Eiffel tower, it was lit up in all its glory. But around 1:00 am the lights went off . We assumed that it was shut for the night, but we were awestruck as it lit up again -only this time it wasn’t fully, but had blue lights all over, and huge fairy lights that incessantly flickered. The whole tower was sparkling! It was one of the most breathtaking sites which unfortunately lasted only for a couple of minutes before the lights completely went off.” Romaana concludes on the note that macaroons and caramel pastries are a must try besides a tour to Disneyland Paris. Since we are talking about the beauty of Paris, how could we not leave out our beautiful Monte Carlo when even Selena Gomez could not do so?
Mustafa Alam Khan, along with his wife Sarah Alam Khan traveled for 10 hours and drove for one to finally land in the ravishing destination - Monte Carlo. Sarah Alam Khan admitted with utmost delight, “One among our many favourite moments was to wake up to the breathtaking sight of the hills and the feel of the heavenly breeze.” When asked what she misses about the place, she confessed, “Relaxing at the Spas in the luxurious hotels.” Since we are tripping on Europe anyway, done done London ho jaye?
Lets take our plane all the way from Europe to Middle East Asia and land it in Dammam, Al Khobar, where all connoisseurs of great taste reside. Fazal Khan (Khan from the epiglottis as he likes to put it), flew to Al Khobar and was mesmerized by its beauty. His words resonated the sound of the beach waves he experienced and fell head over heals in love with, ”I had always been an AC of beaches, but Al Khobar has stolen my heart. Hamza Maqavi, a student of curiosity, traveled to Colorado Springs in the US and is his happiest self ever since. Hamza notes that any season is best to go to the City of Gods because in every different season there is a different way of having fun. He also remarks that hiking along the incline and skiing in Colorado Springs during the winters is an unforgettable experience. They shared, with immense happiness, that the best Hawaiian moment they experienced was the dinner at Top of Waikiki, which is knows for its 360 degree island views, its cocktails and Pacific Rim Cuisine. Top of Waikiki, they said, also followed a garment code of women in dresses and men in suits (which if one failed to follow, would not be allowed to enter the rotating restaurant). They believe the must tries if one goes to Hawaii are cookies of the Honolulu Cookie Company, the shrimps of a stall opposite the beach called Best Garlic Shrimps, a visit to the Pearl Harbour Exhibit and especially to the Sunset Beach Park. Now, while one may think it is just the grown ups who love to travel, a little boy attempts to prove the assumption wrong.
Arib Alikhan, a 1st standard student, jumped with exhilaration when he expressed the thrill he felt at Falls Creek, Australia. He jovially responded, “I have never had so much fun! There was so much snow! And we went tobo.. tobo..,” “Tobogganing,” his mother finished the sentence for him. Arib, owing to his valuable experience, recommends that skiing is a must try at the resort. Thailand is the travel hub of Southeast Asia. Most people coming to this region fly to Bangkok and make that their base for doing the circuit around Southeast Asia. With its lush jungles, famed beaches, world-class diving, amazing food, and cheap prices, Thailand attracts visitors from all walks of life. The country is a well-worn destination on the backpacking trail and everything is convenient and easy. Though well on the map, there are still good destinations to visit away from the tourist masses and prices. It’s so well known around the world that when you hear the name, you already think about beaches, beauty, jungles, and food. And your thoughts are dead on. There is some great jungle trekking opportunities in northern Thailand. Be sure to go on a multi-day hike. The shorter hikes aren’t as good and the hill tribes you visit are like visiting a rural impoverished Disney World. The biggest departure points are Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. From April 13-15th, they celebrate Thai New Year by holding an enormous, three-day water fight. Songkran, as known, is meant to wash away the old and begin the year anew. It’s an amazing festival, and an unforgettable experience! Be prepared to get wet everywhere you go those days (and keep your electronics sealed in plastic). Firasat Mohammed SAP Consultant

I had an amazing experience horse riding amidst the mountains of Sonmarg and then climbing on one of the mountains almost 100 ft tall to get a mesmerizing view of the snow & greenery filled mountains and land below was truly awesome. Staying overnight in the house boat with great hospitality and service from the locals was an amazing experience. Sellers of various kinds of products like jewelry, fruits, clothes etc., are all found in their Shikaras throughout the day. Kashmir is definitely a must-go place at least once in a lifetime. There are endless adventurous activities in Dubai to choose from. But, my favorite experiences have been the desert safari which gives you the complete feel of Arabian culture. It gives me an immense pleasure to share my experience to Panchgani along with my family. Panchgani is known as the Switzerland of India. There are many tourist attractions like Sydney Point, Mapro Garden and Parsi Point. The scenic Panchganj is famous for its strawberry festival. It was mesmerizing to see the mountains covered with a green blanket of bushes during the rainy season. It was an amazing experience staying on the top of the hills with a still river with reflection of the fluffy clouds and green mountains. Can you imagine the exquisite view? I stayed in a hotel “Ravine” and that’s the place from where I saw nature’s beauty and believed in love at first sight. The best moment was when the sun sets and rise. Horse riding and boating adventures were experience at a whole new level. It gave me that “Sholay” (Movie) feeling when they say “chal dhanno bhag”, while riding the horse. Boating was a little scary, because of snakes pondering 1ft away from you. (Giggles) Mahabhaleshwar which is 10Kms away from Panchgani, is a good place for shopping. I also visited the chocolate factory, turmeric and sugarcane farm fields. Overall it’s a nice place to visit and have some quality time with your family or friends. You can get a real feel for a place and have some of the best local experiences in the world’s top street markets. Street markets have been the center of commerce for centuries and offer an assault on all the senses. The sights, the smells and sounds of the best street markets around the world introduce us to the new, the old, the unusual, the odd, the familiar – things to sniff, things to squeeze and stroke, things to admire and of course, things to spend our hard-earned pennies on. Here, are just some of the top street markets. Delhi-Chandni Chowk
When you think of top street markets, India is certainly one of the first places to come to mind, with Delhi playing host to numerous wellknown markets. The most popular street market in Delhi, however, is Chandni Chowk, located in the neighborhood of the same name. The status of this outstanding street market stems firstly from the fact that it has existed for a number of centuries, and secondly, from the fact that you can buy basically anything there, whether it be clothes made to order or exotic foods.

Sprawling around the lock’s moorings along the banks of the canal and overflowing antique buildings, Camden Market is one of the most colorful experiences in London. OCTOBER, 2015 37

This market was chosen by National Geographic as the world’s best food market. The market is spread over two buildings: St. Lawrence Market North which hosts weekly farmer’s markets and antique markets, and St. Lawrence Market South which hosts restaurants, a gallery and food shops and stalls.
Doesn’t the word street market flash in our mind images of those very “in fashion” stuffs? Those cute and classy tops, and oh those sparkling bling earrings or the bright ‘rainbowfull’ bangles! My excitement is hiked already! Street markets are probably the best place for a quick, cheap and a never satisfying attempt for retail therapy. Listing out the cons; you should know not mind the crowd or extra loud sellers! I was always careful of not losing the pretty stuffs I just got or my wallet, (which of course is needed to buy more) and my mobile for the selfies’ we ought to click. (Shouldn’t our friends know, after all?) The Shilin Night Market holds the prestigious title of being the largest of Taipei’s night markets, and has expanded rapidly in size in recent years, spilling further and further out into the streets. FEATURE Tell me one person who isn’t fond of just getting lost in the beauty of admiring breathtaking sights? At least I don’t know of anyone like that. Buying expensive shoes, dresses or travelling around the world in business class wouldn’t give you as much of joy as just standing somewhere looking down at how beautiful everything around you looks would probably. That moment you wouldn’t care about your grievances, or whom to impress, who to dislike, how your boss isn’t nice with you or how your partner/friend left your hand for a real petty issue. Why? Because you would be lost in the moment of admiration…The moment of that admiration towards the divine beauty of nature that cannot be expressed in words. Today, let me provide to you with some such glimpses of breath taking sights you probably would have not known of or would save some of your income dreaming to witness for..! You doubt? No, you wouldn’t after reading this article.
Entering The Giant’s World
Giant Causeway Are you too an admirer of the nature’s divine beauty and how beautifully the sun romances with the sky, kissing it at its horizon? Then, you definitely need to go check this place out. Giant’s Causeway was awarded bronze at the British Travel Awards (BTAs) in ‘Best UK Heritage Attraction’ category. Flanked by the wild North Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, water creating and inculcating life within you, imagining it looks like you have found love, this place is like heaven!
Beautiful; Castle or the view?
Mont Juic’s Castle, Barcelona, Spain , Another breathtakingly beautiful view would be from Mont Juic’s Castle, Barcelona, Spain undoubtedly. The castle which was constructed in the end of the 18th century is one of the most visited tourist spots. Nowadays, it is a popular tourist attraction, especially because of its unique view over the city of Barcelona, the sea and the port. They say, “Visit this castle and enjoy panoramic views from the castle where you’ll be able to view the sea like the Iberians did.” Those who haven’t been there, you are missing out on something extraordinary.

Climbing Floors Above The Ground
Tower Of Wills, Chicago When we have to talk about great views, who with a sane mind would miss out on talking about The Tower Of Wills, Skydeck in Chicago? The feel of standing on the ledge witnessing unobstructed views of miniaturelooking people, taxis and bridges from glass floors 1,353 feet over Wacker Drive and the Chicago River, how good would it be?The tower is a world-renowned building, a Chicago icon. The eighth-tallest building in the world, it remains the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, standing 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall and without further doubts, Chicago is at your feet.
Let’s get lost in the beauty of nature..
Mount Kinabalu,Malaysia Mount Kinabalu , the place where you could see breath-taking sunrise from above the clouds, 13,435 feet (4095 meters) for the ones who believe in little moments of romance. Ever changing, it is the mountain of tropical rainforest, colourful blossoms and golden sunset, but also dark and violent storms. At times, a ghostly mist shrouds the mountain and it is easy to believe the local Kadazandusun’s claim that it is the homeland of their spirit world. Seems Flabbagastingly Prepossessing much to me..!
It is a beautiful place to be in. When people say NY, they think yellow cabs and fast moving place is what defines New York. It isn’t only that though, because this park there defines happiness. It has a fountain where you can make wishes, a view which is a dream to witness, and people put up various shows there to earn some extra money. People go there for relaxation, joy and to feel beautiful about themselves and their lives. Meera Damaraju

Roars and Vibration of the falls. Rhine Falls, Switzerland, So give it a thought, standing above Europe’s largest waterfall with your friends and loved ones and all you want to be is lost...lost, hearing the roars and vibration of water. Where you want to hear every drop falling over an entire water body and you don’t need anyone to make you feel more devoted than that moment in itself, more devoted to achieve something- That little happiness, in the moment. Yes, you guessed that right, I’m talking about the Rhine Falls. In the middle of it all stands a mighty rock that has withstood the elements for a thousand years. The rock can be reached on a circular tour of the Rhine Falls, during which one can observe the natural spectacle from up close. Virtually in the middle of the waterfall, visitors stand on platforms that jut out and partially hover over the Rhine. Its indeed one of the most spectacular views, completely..! Stockholm from High Up
Stockholm High Up, Sweden, Being on the top is all our dreams. NO, NO I don’t mean being on top of the world but for a moment experiencing. Well, visiting Stockholm from high up where you can see Alfred Noble Museum in the background along with everything looking like ants and feeling too big for would be a dream for all of you then. Stockholm, being built on 14 islands and with barely any highrise buildings, has a landscape like no other place on earth. It’s got the best sights which one should definitely witness once in a lifetime. It’s mostly church spires that pierce through the otherwise almost unobstructed skyline. Grab your camera and the hand of someone you like and head to one of these outlooks for breathtaking city views.
The Loch Ness Monster isn’t that monstrous after all?
Loch Ness Lake,Scotland Go watch” Loch Ness”, a drama film about a scientist who stepped out for some fresh air. To his surprise, he encounters a monstrous looking creature from the water which eventually kills him. Because, associated with the birth of the ‘monster’ is our very own lake – Loch Ness which is again appealing to one’s eyes. Over 20 miles long, a mile wide and 700 feet at its deepest, Loch Ness is the lake in Scotland by volume. Loch Ness is full of surprises! You can sit back and enjoy the landscape, explore the history of the area, visit the charming towns and villages like Fort Augustus, Foyers, Cannich, and Drumnadrochit, or just relax and enjoy the great outdoors. It’s like experiencing watching Paradise. 46 OCTOBER, 2015
Titlis in a Rotair…
Mount Titlis, Switzerland, ‘’I’m on the top of the word, looking down on creation”, this song is my favourite. I guess every one must be known to the lyric of this song.. That’s certainly because according to my perspective, as you take in the spectacular panoramic views of snow-covered mountains and unspoilt Alpine landscapes, you will feel on top of the world. ”And it revolves around its own axis” – is what you see and hear on the way up to the Titlis in a Rotair revolving gondola! Our Very Own Treasure,
Mount Everest, Himalaya, India And last but never the least … India’s very own Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in Tibet as Chomolungma, is Earth’s highest mountain. Its peak is 8,848 metres above sea level. Now, who doesn’t want to want to witness this peak? It’s the Earth’s largest, after all. Here’s something all Indians are proud of and if not, should be.. The sight from even just a little above the peak is mind blowing and a treat to one’s eye. There is snow all year long, chills in the weather and is THE MOST VISITED TOURIST’S SPOT EVER in the history of ever, so who else wants to be in all the places to witness these views and make our day here? Sonam Parmar
Budding fashion designer and stylist, Sonam Parmar, is all set to conquer the city with her new collection. She leaves a trail of glitter wherever she goes! Born and raised in Pune and trained at the School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) located there, Sonam’s label can best be described as Live-LoveSparkle. Sonam’s signature style has oodles of fresh colors and an eccentric dose of bling. She also strongly believes in magic, fantasy and miracles. She interpreted this with her last collection very aptly called “The Enchantress”. Her latest collection “Oh! So Quaint!” expresses the designer’s creative vision of vintage style and intricate detailing, with an enchanted spirit. Each of Sonam Parmar’s collection tells a unique story, this collection showcases collars, exaggerated bows and drapes and it goes without saying a whole lot of gold sequins to add that extra drama to this modern vintage collection. “My inspiration is my intuition. I don’t follow any trend or anything in particular if I feel really happy about some idea or concept that comes to my head, I just go ahead with it keeping in mind how it will help my label make a mark in this enormous industry. The journey has been fantastic, I am doing what I have always wanted to do, since the time I was dressing up my dolls when I was five. I wanted to be in the fashion industry and dress up real people eventually. My passion for fashion was like a fire in me and designing became my chosen path. I had always dreamt about starting my own label someday and I am living my dream. Also immense appreciation from my customers is like a cherry on the cake,” Sonam adds. Sakshi Malhotra and Deepti Arora, the two siblings always believed fashion is one of their life essentials. They always wanted to do something related to fashion, since they feel passionate about it. “I realized quite early enough that fashion designing was not for me since sketching was not exactly my cup of tea. So, Bling Fashion House fuels the fashion fire in me. It has been my brain child but my sister (Deepti Arora) is the reason why we have come so far. It is a joint venture and while I bring the creativity and ideas to the party, my sister, makes sure they are practical and fit in with the finances. So, we are kind of a dream team. It has been a little more than a year since we started BFH. Initially, it was hard making a niche in a market which already has fashion in abundance. But, with patience and hope we survived and with hard work we are able to achieve a position in the market that we are proud of. The fashion industry is very dynamic and also very unpredictable. What works for you may not work for a mass audience, but it is also a billion dollar industry. Go after your passion and your respective talent and there will be a job waiting for you. But it takes a lot of hard work too. So if you want to be a part of it, you have to be prepared to work extremely hard. Well, I do have a lot of ideas for BFH, I am just waiting for the right time to implement them. A number of collaboration with some leading fashion influencers of the country, a bigger platform for showcasing the collection. I am still building BFH and we still have a long way to go. My biggest inspiration is in life are my failures and the burning desire to overcome them”, Sakshi adds. Madelyn Footwear by Shazeen Masani and Pooja Shah
“Madelyn was started by us when we were at a stage in our respective careers where we felt we needed to do something that was creatively more satisfying. Madelyn offered us the flexibility to work out of home and at the same time something that was financially sustainable. Both of us do not posses any technical qualifications in footwear designing but we observed that there was a gap in the market for trendy footwear that is affordable and wearable. Our goal was to create designs that have the styling of international high street brands and offer them to our clients at affordable prices. Thus, making fashionable footwear accessible to women. The response so far has been great. The scope online is huge and we are still in lieu to tap our full potential. What makes us different is that we are constantly innovating our designs to adapt to the market changes and at the same time understanding and providing what our customers really need when they shop for shoes. We try not to blindly follow trends. Rather than designing and making footwear that looks great on the runway but is not really wearable in everyday life, we stick to styles that can be worn and enjoyed in our everyday life. What’s next : Like we said, we are still to tap our full potential when it comes to online selling. We plan to tie up with more ecommerce websites and maybe set up our own website too, in the future. “My whole life has been a learning ground where I have been fortunate enough to have experienced living in different countries. My multi-cultural background, being of Indian origin, born in the UK, moving to my then home in Tehran, being raised in Istanbul and London, having worked in Dubai and Singapore, and now currently living and working in New Delhi, India has enriched me with knowledge, drive, and aspiration. Despite never having lived in India up until two years ago, I have managed to stay close to my Indian roots, our culture’s values and traditions. Growing up, I have always been attracted to the fashion segment as well as luxury products and brands. I have completed a course in Luxury Brand Management and Product Design from London College of Fashion and the idea of starting my own jewellery brand came very naturally to me just over a year ago. My jewellery brand depicts me as an individual, inspiring me to create designs and collections which express the multi-cultural background I come from. The name of the brand itself was derived from my name, Karishma. My family calls me by Kisha, which was shortened to Kish in high school – somehow the name stuck and now my brand is called HOUSE OF KISH! The jewellery industry in India is massive! In order for me to even consider becoming part of it, I had to ensure that the pieces in my collection would be different to anything else in the same segment. House of Kish is a luxury jewellery brand which focuses on natural precious and semi-precious gemstones. The beauty of my collection is that the pieces are unique and handmade by jewellery experts in Turkey. Although the craze in India at the moment is fashion jewellery predominantly based on metal – House of Kish pieces use sterling silver, plated in rhodium, 18ct yellow or rose gold, and we also do customised orders for pieces in gold. We have successfully established ourselves through exhibitions in Dubai and New Delhi, as well as having an international client base. Our clients praise our pieces for their unique designs and high quality of finish. I have aimed to create a collection which is wearable, delicate, versatile, and classy. We have positioned ourselves as a brand which caters to the working woman (be it a job, or working on her home) you should be able to feel beautiful whatever it is that you are doing, so why not by wearing House of Kish, day or night :) Find her stuff at: Website: www.houseofkish.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/houseofkishjewellery, Instagram: @houseofkish Contact Us for Orders/Enquiries: info@houseofkish.com Upcoming event: 28th October at Serendipitiy take 6 at Vasant Intercontinental from 10 am onwards. 52 OCTOBER, 2015
“I have always been intrigued by fashion ever since I was a little kid playing dress up. Then, of course, my family’s textile business only fuelled my interests even more. I have been designing clothes for myself since I was 14 years old. So, it was only natural that I got into designing my own clothing line. We started earlier this year and have been quiet happy with the response so far. House of Trove designs clothes that are timeless yet modern with a special affection for Indian traditions. A house of trove woman is modern, self affirmed, well travelled yet close to her roots. I think this philosophy is what, that, makes us different from the rest. The clothes are very elegant, look very stylish & modern but are very comfortable & wearable. I am a strong believer of online shopping; it brings the world together in such a beautiful way. Just with the help of Facebook, we have been able to form a customer base in America. As long as you have a strong product and ensure quality standards, you can sustain brilliantly in the online world. Again, there are pros and cons to all things. What’s next: We are now looking at creating our website with an e-commerce platform to help cater to our clients outside Delhi, better. HZM designs was established in October 2006 by Haya Mahomed. The brand is an exclusive designer footwear brand, which emerged out of the personal need for some uniqueness in footwear designs. Back in 2006, the designer footwear market was just emerging, but it was not there yet! Since HZM designs was established from a personal need it could relate to the customer point of view in terms of what was lacking for the end user. HZM designs as a brand took off quite immediately by word of mouth. The main attraction could be attributed to the unique designs combined with the customization of size, fitting and heel requirements. Since then the growth of HZM designs is solely because we listen to what the customer wants. HZM designs footwear collection is 80% wedding and festive; and 20% contemporary. The formula of designing is unique because there is no fixed formula; a mixture of experience, material sourcing and imagination goes into each collection. So, you can always expect something completely unexpected from every new collection! Find them on: www.facebook.com/HZM Instagram: hzmdesigns. Email: hayamahomed@gmail.com Ph: 91 98215 76417

TILL MYSTERY UNWINDS It is always fun to unravel mysterious situations. Let it be the delusional stuff or anything closer, everyone believes there is always a scientific conclusion to it. Yet, a few incidents remain clueless even after gazillion amount of research on them . Did someone say Traditions? Maybe they are also one of the many conclusions. Here, we bring to you some of the mysterious places in this wide world. Caño Cristales , Columbia
Caño Cristales is a river located in the Serrenia de la Macerana region of Columbia. This isn’t just any river, it has been referred to as and “The Most Beautiful River in the World.” For much of the year it looks just the same as any other river, but for a short amount of time between September and November – in the transition period between wet and dry seasons – it transforms into a wash of color. The reds, pinks, blues, greens and yellows that adorn the river are actually unique types of flora growing on the riverbed. Cano Cristales has been called the river of five colors or even the most beautiful river in the world. Cano Cristales is located in a remote, isolated area not easily accessible by road. The site was closed to tourists for several years because of terrorist activity in the region along with concerns about the environmental impact of tourism. It was reopened to visitors in 2009, and today there are several Colombian Tourist Agencies that will fly travelers to La Macarena. From there, it is a short trip into “Serrania de la Macarena,” the national park in which Cano Cristales is located.
Bermuda Triangle, Atlantic Ocean
The Bermuda Triangle is a mythical section of the Atlantic Ocean roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico where dozens of ships and airplanes have disappeared. Unexplained circumstances surround some of these accidents, including one in which the pilots of a squadron of U.S. Navy bombers became disoriented while flying over the area; the planes were never found. Other boats and planes have seemingly vanished from the area in good weather without even radioing distress messages. But although myriad fanciful theories have been proposed regarding the Bermuda Triangle, none of them prove that mysterious disappearances occur more frequently there than in other welltraveled sections of the ocean. In fact, people navigate the area everyday without any incidents. 54 OCTOBER, 2015

Moguicheng is an area located in the desert of the Xinjiang town in China. The region is full of mystery with strange things happening there and so is named Moguicheng, meaning the city of devil or city of Satan. The area is beautiful with its numerous criss-crossing earth mounds of different heights. The strong blowing winds have shaped the stones there. Some even look scary like demons. Even stones of red, blue, white and orange color are seen scattered. But it is not the natural beauty of this place that attracts the tourists it is the mysterious sounds that bring them there. Walking through the desert towards an old abandoned city, people have reported some extremely strange occurrences. Visitors are adamant that they’ve heard a range of mysterious sounds floating on the breeze, from weird melodies and the sound of guitar strings gently being plucked to babies crying and tigers roaring. These sounds are apparently inexplicable, nobody has yet been able to find any sort of source.

Richat Structure, Mauritania
The Richat Structure is also known as the Eye of the Sahara. It’s a distinct and prominent circular geographical feature in the Sahara Desert. At roughly 30 miles wide, you probably wouldn’t notice that you were within it, but from an aerial view – and even from space – it is highly visible. Originally, it was thought to be the product of an asteroid impact and later people thought it could have been created by a volcanic eruption. The main school, of thought today says that it was once a circular rock formation that has gradually been eroded. Several mysteries still surround the areas, such as why the structure is nearly a perfect circle and why the rings are equidistant from each other.
There is nothing spooky or haunted. It is simply fake stories and it is the fear inside, which turns out in the wake of watching motion pictures and in light of the fact that individuals have set their psyches with respect to this which at last, makes them feel frightened and petrified. TRAVEL Mount Roraima, Brazil
Mount Roraima is particularly unusual to look at because, rather than finishing in a peak like most mountains, its top is a large plateau. It’s thought to be amongst the world’s oldest geological formations, and its plateau was most likely created by winds and rains. The plateau is often cloaked with clouds, which are more often than not near the top of the mountain. It has a particularly large number of endemic species of flora and fauna – species that can can be found nowhere else on Earth. There’s no explanation as to why it has such an unusually large amount.
Insaan se darr nahi lagta saheb, Bhoot Bunglow se lagta hai...! It weakens my knees when I consider myself encountering something so frightening. I ought to view myself as far excessively fortunate, that till date I haven’t been a piece of such nerve wracking circumstance. The best part, they don’t exist. The most exceedingly awful part, it’s our outlook that has and still completes that it exist, and whatever stories we hear are “Genuine” and not “Reel”. Khadija Hashmi Student
Teotihuacan, Mexico
Teotihuacan is an archaeological site located about 30 miles (50 kilometers) northeast of modern-day Mexico City. Teotihuacan was one of the largest urban centers in the ancient world. No one knows who built it. The city flourished between 2,100 years ago, when construction began, and about 1,400 years ago, when it went into a period of decline, including a fire that caused great damage. However, even with the decline, the city was never truly “lost” — the Aztecs made regular pilgrimages to the site in later periods. What the city’s own inhabitants called the city and its structures is unknown. The current name, Teotihuacan, was given to it by the Aztecs and means “the place where the gods were created.” At its zenith, Teotihuacan encompassed an urban core of about 8 square miles (20 square km) with a population estimated at more than 100,000 people. Its influence was felt throughout central Mexico and as far south as Guatemala. The city was ruined some 1,400 years ago and later taken over by the Aztecs. Teotihuacan is home to Pyramid Of The Sun – one of the most amazing pyramids in the world. 56 OCTOBER, 2015
McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antartica
TULIP
TRAVEL The McMurdo Dry Valleys could be the most secret place on Earth. This little-known area is one of the most extreme deserts and perhaps the driest place in the world – receiving just 4 inches of precipitation each year – but strangely it’s located slap bang in the middle of the usual ice and snow of Antarctica. Rather than being covered in snow, this bleak and barren landscape is completely bare. The area even lacks any terrestrial vegetation, although some lichens, mosses and nematodes live there. Scientists have said that the Dry Valley area is probably the place on this planet that is most similar to the environment on Mars.
Yonaguni Monument , Japan
Discovered only in 1987, Amid controversy the Yonaguni monument is a submerged rock formation that is thought to be the remnants of a 10,000 year old Japanese civilization. It was discovered by Dive Tour operator Kihachiro Aratake in 1985. Masaaki Kimura, a marine geologist at the university of RyuKyus in Japan has spent fifteen years diving amid the Yonaguni anomaly. Kimura over these years has come to the conclusion that this monument is most definitely human made. According to kimura, “The largest structure (Yonaguni monument) looks like a complicated, monolithic, stepped pyramid that rises from a depth of 25 meters [82 feet]”. The structure itself looks a lot like a ziggurat, a type of structure found throughout the world in Latin American pyramids and Middle Eastern cities such as Ur. However; this construction is not alone. Alongside the monument ten other structures have been found on Yonaguni, including a castle, five temple-like structures, and what seems to be a huge stadium. What is more interesting is that all of these structures are connected by roads and water lines.

WELLBEING
Spa for most of us, means a place where you get a massage; which is actually not the only thing that you can look forward to, on a visit to the spa. The Westin, Heavenly Spa shows us why. The concept at Westin Heavenly Spa is to create a complete wellness experience. I decided to review on their “Hope Package”. My therapist for the day led me to their massage room, and once I was ready, she began with soaking my feet in warm water using mineral salts to cleanse them and guided me to the steam room which was attached to my personal room. I took a good 10 minutes of steam which was infused with Eucalyptus oil. It is supposed to be great for any ailments such as cold, cough or sinus. I could actually feel the oil open up my sinuses and I wanted to take full advantage of that fact. Post steam, I had a full body scrub which is done with essential minerals and lasted for approximately 35 minutes. You can feel the scrub removing all the dead skin while making your skin feel supple and soft immediately after shower. After quickly removing all the scrub leftover from my body in shower, I was ready for their next step- an hour long procedure of their signature massage which concentrated on the required pressure areas to relive stress and have an enhanced blood circulation in my body. The pressure was just perfect and what I needed after a long week of work; I enjoyed every bit of it. As the warm oil seeped into my body, I could feel my aches slowly fade away and enter a state of absolute bliss. This goes over an hour and my masseuse slowly kneads on my muscles combining that with gentle strokes. The last 10-15 minutes she spends massaging my face and head. It was more like giving pressure on the correct pressure points and releasing all the stress. It was followed by a bath in Jacuzzi which is like a cherry on the top of the entire wellness experience. The best part of this package is that all the facilities from the steam to the Jacuzzi are right in your room. That, by far made my experience an amazing one and I can’t wait to come back for more. The post therapy part includes you being escorted to a quiet dim lit waiting area where you can relax and enjoy what you have just been through with a cup of green tea, some dark chocolate, almonds and walnuts too boost you up. WELLBEING
Festive and wedding season is often super taxing on body and mentally stressful. I am referring to the constant late nights, the regular use of make-up, the eating out and more. A Spa session is a great mood up-lifter and just the refreshment, you’re tired and aching body needs. The Aura Spa offers a luxurious collection of time-tested ancient & traditional healing remedies and treatments whilst incorporating the latest international wellness trends to provide the guest an authentic & holistic experience. Their Massage treatments are largely inspired by unique Indian traditions. Their oils & herbs of various mixtures & extracts, stimulate relaxation; rejuvenation and detoxification in the body. The staff were warm, friendly and extremely welcoming. As soon as you walk in, you will be greeted with a smile and the staff would give their best time explaining about the suitable massage for you, depending on your requirement. We went for a pre bridal package which is a long process but the staff was kind enough to make a customized one day package to experience the same. The interiors are so soothing that you will instantly slip into a relaxed and calm mode. After changing, the therapist explained to me the entire procedure and started off by scrubbing the entire body with herbal mixture and essential oils. She carefully scrubs each part of the body with this mixture, which is supposed to be great great for removal of sun tan. It leaves the skin feeling smooth, soft and saturated with antioxidants; a simply divine experience leaving you feeling cleansed, fit and absolutely refreshed. The therapist then began the massage, starting from my feet and slowly moves her way upwards. She also emphasized on my knots and instead of a kneading movement she rhythmically moved her fists up and over my nerves moving the knots to the absolute edge until they almost vanish. Post this, she gave a slight head massage and crystal facial to soothe and rejuvenate my skin. I could feel lot of positive vibes with the whole experience and the ambience. From here, I went for a shower and decided to not use any soap as I really want to let my very dry body soak in the oil. I couldn’t wait to go home after such a relaxing experience to get some good sleep, which I did of course, very soundly that night. It was an overwhelming experience truly. Hot Stone Massage at The Spa- Sheraton Hotel After contemplating over the choice of a massage from their assorted menu, we chose the signature - Hot Stone Massage. The therapist led us to a room which had compact and cozy interiors and lighting adjusted as per the guests comfort zone. Hot Stone Massage at The Spa, Sheraton is highly recommended for all guests. Imagine lying on a massage table, letting the stress and anxieties melt away as your muscles are therapeutically manipulated with comfortably placed hot stones. A regular deep tissue massage is incredibly relaxing, and the additional use of hot stones makes this massage therapy an increasingly popular pick at day spas. It is a process where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body. The heat generated can be both deeply soothing and help loosen up tight muscles. The therapist makes you feel comfortable in the ambience and explains the procedure asking your stressed areas and starts off by mildly pressing and massaging your whole body with oil. After that she sanitizes the stones and heats them. The masseuse always holds the stones first before touching them to your body, which ensures that the temperature is not too hot. She will gently rub the stone into muscles and tissues on both sides of the body; the firmness of the stone coupled with the heat enhances the curative benefits of the massage. You usually start facing down, with the therapist working on your back and then, gradually moving up step by step; to the entire body. She might also leave heated stones in specific key points along your spine, in the palms of your hand, on your belly, or chest and help you relax. The process is repeated on the entire body for a duration of 60-90 minutes, as per your choice. After wrapping up the massage, your body feels calm and de-stressed. Combining the hot stone procedure with a full body massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also help expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. They have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation. However; the massage should not be taken by people who suffer from any heart disease or high blood pressure. The therapist shall accompany you to a refreshing steam, followed by an invigorating bath. The massage therapy ends by them serving a cup of green tea to leave you revitalized and energized for the day. 115/1, ISB Rd, Financial District, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Telangana 500032 Phone: 040 4925 1111

Spa La Vie by L’Occitane
Spa La Vie by international brand L’Occitane offers a complete package of refreshing, calm and luxurious spa day. The ambiance gives a very calming vibe, the classy crème interiors are so soothing that you will immediately step into your zen mode. I was welcomed by the staff of the spa, who directed me towards their lounge area and handed over the spa menu to me. I was offered a pair of spa slippers and a detoxifying cup of tea that consisted of liberal amounts of lemon, ginger and honey. Treatments offered at the Spa include Massages, Aromachologie soaking ceremonies, Facials, Scrubs, Wraps, Ayurveda treatments, Couple’s Treatments and Manicures/Pedicures. I told them my requirements and they customised a package for me which involved “Aromachologie Relaxing Massage’ and ‘Shea Nourishing Scrub’. After being introduced to my masseuse for the day I was led to my private chamber where I changed and slipped into the spa robe. She started the treatment with a foot massaging ritual to relax my body for which I was asked to soak my feet in a bowl of water scented with rose petals. And then i was led to steam room, which was attached to my room and enjoyed a nice 10 minutes steam before my scrub began. This delicious texture enriched in nourishing Shea butter eliminates dead cells, leaving skin satin-soft and perfectly prepared for the next step- massage. Aromachologie Relaxing Massage a 60 minutes Swedish massage which sure left my muscles free of stiffens and completely relaxed my back as I mentioned it to be my focal area. There was a special Chinese acupressure and Balinese massage technique used to stimulate circulation and ease tensions. Well I would say it sure did the wonder, because I was beaming with joy ready for shower and to take over another stressful week before my next spa date with myself. After, 120 minutes of pampering, I could feel my soft and hydrate skin glowing with health and looking visibly suppler. Soothing spa music that played in the background only aided in the process of healing. A cup of the same steaming tea was served again and this time it felt even better, a perfectly rejuvenating ending to a relaxing session. Location: Apollo Life Centre, Jubilee Hills. Serena Spa at Radisson Blu
It was a Sunday when we decided to visit Radisson for Spa therapy. The spa, which is tucked into a plush hotel, was calmer than the hotel lobby which was bustling with family for Sunday brunch. At Radisson we decided to go with something new and finally decided to go with the Serene Dhara 60 minute massage. Based on the description, this sounded like it could be just what I needed. An ancient Ayurvedic treatment that is all about pouring warm medicated oil on the third eye point of the forehead to unblock any blockages in the energy passages around the face and head. This allows the energy to flow properly and helps relieve headaches, migraine, insomnia and stress. Resting is recommended. Leaving you to feel refreshed with clear thoughts and more relaxed. The first stage of my spa experience included a consultation. I filled out a health questionnaire about my diet, exercise habits, pre-existing conditions, etc. After I changed into my robe my masseuse welcomed me again with traditional foot soaking ceremony. I was surrounded by the typical “spa music” and streaming water sounds. I’d been expecting an hour of warm oil dripping on my forehead, what I got was almost a half hour of extremely accurate acupressure on my legs, hands and neck before they turned their focus to my head. After working on the pressure points in my head for a while, then warm oil started dripping on my forehead. The massage continued concentrating on pressure points. About 25 minutes of hot oil drizzled along my hair line and massaged into the rest of my head. My eyes were covered for protection and my hair was pulled back. It felt pretty wonderful. It was nothing like the Balinese massages I’m used to, but the pressure was perfect. My massage therapist was very attentive throughout the entire process and informed me that I was very tense at my shoulders and back area and also kept asking me about how I felt about the pressure. Afterwards I spent a few minutes sipping hot tea in the “recuperation area” with plans to lay low the rest of the day. Location: Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Rd Number 6, Green Valley, Banjara Hills. AUTOMOBILE
Audi Ride with Kamalesh & Anju Gupta Kamalesh owns a business venture, where as Anju is a home maker to the core. The couple is passionate about cars and they own an Audi Q7 3.0 TDI fully loaded. “It is an awesome beast incomparable in its sector with the best Audio system which we fell in love with. But to enjoy a drive in your favorite car, we need to have roads like the ORR and unfortunately they are not there in city. There cannot be a better experience for a parent to drive with children sitting next to them, chatting along while it’s drizzling on the highways,” she adds. Their dream car is Lamborghini Veneno and Alfa Romeo Giulia QV.
About Audi Q7 3.0
For a whopping great SUV the Q7 handles in a reasonably sporty fashion, but not at the expense of ride comfort. It doesn’t waft like a Range Rover, but it’s not perturbed by the average potholed road and it corners with much more assuredness than the British machine. All Q7s get Audi’s eight-speed tip tronic gearbox with paddles, which slosh through smoothly and kick down quickly enough when the throttle’s planted. Like any SUV it’s hardly agile and feels like a lead weight, so it’ll descend into under steer if you hit that roundabout too fast. The size will definitely make parking an issue for some. Ultimately it is better on the motorway than anywhere else. For that reason, the 3.0 TDI engine is the most suited. It is far less aggressive than the tree-tearing 4.2 TDI but it is quieter and quick enough. It comes with a choice of two power outputs, apparently quite minor, but the 62lb ft extra torque of the 245bhp unit is certainly felt on the road and seen against the clock: 0-62mph in 7.8 rather than 9.1 seconds. Their directors are being awarded at various shows, but earlier they weren’t a part of the mainstream. They were considered as offbeat cinema makers, but now women-centric films have seen a good growth. It’s an achievement,” she said.

MOVIES Movie Reviews Hero “If you want this love story to work, then buy yourself some time,” warns a concerned brother to his distraught sister half-way through the film Hero. This warning is probably meant for the audience as well, who by now seem to be restlessly squirming in their seats. Sooraj Pancholi plays Sooraj Kaushik, a mobster with character, who is indebted to his godfather Pasha, whom he lovingly calls ‘Baba’. Athiya Shetty plays his love interest Radha, the daughter of Inspector General of Police Shrikant Mathur, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. With excellent production values, Nikhil Advani’s film, though technically advanced, is poorly executed in terms of writing. The screenplay is ridiculously flawed and confusing at times. Overall, this Hero is below mediocre fare except for the lead pair’s straightforward performances. The Transporter Refueled Laced with revenge, romance and fatherson bonding, The Transporter Refueled is a sleekly presented gangster film. The fourth from The Transporter franchise, released seven years after its last instalment. Set in the French Riveira, the narration starts off with events of 1995 where the Russian Mafia takes over the underworld operations. Fifteen years later, Frank (Ed Skrein), a clandestine courier operator reunites with his father Frank Sr (Ray Stevenson), an ex-sales representative who was also a secret government spy agent. With excellent production values, the visuals are stylised and the action and stunt sequences are remarkable. Overall, the film is a visually brilliant, actionpacked, but out-of-gas entertainer. Dynamite Shivaji (Manchu Vishnu) falls for Anamika Dasari (Pranitha Subhash), who gets impressed with him post an issue. After a dinner date that includes voluminous amount of wine and vodka, the two return to her apartment for a few drinks. That’s when Anamika gets kidnapped by some unknown ruffians. Shivaji tries hard to save her by contacting Gachibowli Police officers, but he is been deceited that no such incident did happen. The story had the potential to leave audiences gripped had it been made of a more packed size, or at least had a more enchanting treatment.

The author of The Corrections and Freedom has imagined a world of vividly original characters--Californians and East Germans, good parents and bad parents, journalists and leakers-and he follows their intertwining paths through landscapes as contemporary as the omnipresent Internet and as ancient as the war between the sexes.

This is the book on DARPA-a compelling narrative about this clandestine intersection of science and the American military and the often frightening results.

FORTUNE
Forecast For
October 2015
- Tarot reading by Nupur Heda Patil
Hello readers, This month, the angels will concentrate on your true feelings and actions. Check out your energy meter this month and plan ahead fearlessly. Happy October!
LIBRA
(born September 23 - October 22) Although you may be extra moody with the evocative energy lurking in your sign, you can still trust your feelings to tell the truth now. Even if you’re planning on enjoying a peaceful month, you might also remember some deeper psychological issues that you have wrestled with before. It’s your emotions that are currently fluctuating every few minutes. If you don’t like what you’re feeling in the moment, just patiently wait for the next wave until your moods begin to stabilize. There’s no harm in floating for a while in the ebb and flow of your heart. Thankfully, you have a newly found hope for positive change. Use your natural instinct to fully consider both sides of a situation before choosing which one to support. Energy Meter: 7/10 Look before you leap.
SCORPIO
(born October 23 - November 21) There is so much you’re not saying, but it’s also possible you’re unaware that something significant is missing from the picture. Unfortunately, what you don’t notice now can come back and bite you later. Your most reliable defense is to consider all angles, including thinking about the unthinkable. Push all of your own buttons by exploring your fear of change. If you can face the dark alone, you might just realize that the unknown isn’t as frightening as it seems from the distance. You’re trying to maintain a balanced perspective on your life, but there’s only so much objectivity you can manage now. There are just too many variables to juggle these days, each adding subtle nuances to a delicate situation. You can make yourself crazy by attempting to untangle the threads of complexity. Or, you can turn up the volume on your daydreams and drift downstream for a while. Escape is an attractive alternative as long as you remember it’s only temporary. Travel in your imagination today, solve your problems tomorrow. Energy Meter: 6/10 Beware of daydreaming.
SAGITTARIUS
(born November 22 - December 21) You’re not a stranger to the idea of living in the future, since you often aim your arrows of intention toward the next possible adventure. However, you need to cut your inflated ideas down to size now or you will surely encounter disappointment later on. Instead of dreaming about an unrealistic journey around the world, start planning a much less ambitious itinerary that you could actually manifest. Set obtainable goals that will bring you joy rather than one that will remain sadly 78 OCTOBER, 2015
beyond your grasp. You may feel an irrepressible urge to socialize with your friends, partly because you’re afraid you will miss out on the action. Lucky angels encourage you to believe that everything will work out fine, no matter what. But bailing on a commitment is not the right thing to do. Don’t let blind optimism talk you out of being responsible. The choice is all yours, along with the consequences. Energy Meter: 5/10 Judge your instincts, be aware of your thoughts.
CAPRICORN
(born December 22 - January 19) Your workload is stacking up faster than you can handle and the pressure is too intense for your liking. Escape sounds like a plausible idea, but you quickly realize your integrity won’t permit you to quit until your job is done. Although you may feel as if you are in over your head, don’t waste precious time entertaining the possibility of failure. You know exactly what must be done now, so bite the bullet and rise to the challenge. Every great accomplishment starts with a decision to try. Although you have partnership issues on your mind this month, they’re actually just mere distractions from the real dilemma at hand. Career decisions need to be made now that will have long-lasting ramifications. In fact, your current choices also have a significant impact on a spouse or companion. Energy Meter: 6/10 Break Free.
AQUARIUS
(born January 20 - February 18) You’re on an emotional roller coaster and you can’t find an easy way to jump off the ride. Thankfully, it’s moving a bit slower this month, yet there’s still no opportunity for a graceful exit. You have serious work to finish now, so save your idle daydreaming for another day. But rather than letting your feelings hijack, channel your frustration into fueling your superhero efforts. It might seem as if you’re facing a final exam, and perhaps you are metaphorically, but with dedication and perseverance you can pass this test with flying colors. You are not the only one who thinks your adventurous ideas are pretty outrageous. Although letting your imagination run wild could completely upset you, it might be worth the consequences anyhow. Set aside the restraints of logic and time while you explore all the alternatives without being attached to the outcome. Ultimately, you might not be able to take this particular dream trip, but giving yourself permission to fantasize may be enough of an escape for now. Energy Meter: 4/10 Be realistic.
PISCES
(born February 19 - March 20) You have an important message to deliver, but it’s especially tricky to put your complex emotions into words. Ironically, you’re just as impatient with someone for misunderstanding you as you are with yourself for not speaking clearly. The harder you try to make your point, the more confusion seems to mount. Watch the signs; if you’re not connecting with others now, stop forcing the issue. Simply start up the conversation again tomorrow after everyone has had a chance to chill out. Don’t take anyone’s behavior personally when it is more about the timing than anything else. Unfortunately, you are tied to your previously made commitments, so you can’t just wander off the beaten path now. Instead, keep your eyes on the road and your feet on the ground. Honoring your priorities is a wise antidote to all the spacey energy coming your way. Energy Meter: 3/10 Control your thoughts and speak less.
ARIES
(born Mar. 21 - April 19) You don’t have to turn every conversation into a competition. In fact, this is a perfect day for you headstrong angels to practice the art of compromise. The good news is that you are able to soften your hard edges now and let someone else run the show. Your uncharacteristic gentleness enables you to meet others halfway. In turn, your sensitivity minimizes unnecessary conflict. Nevertheless, don’t give in too quickly or you’ll end up settling for less than you deserve. You can’t escape from the consequences of someone’s unexpected emotional outburst with the relationships now. You may be feeling particularly generous while energetic angel’s supports your heroic efforts at putting others at ease. Energy Meter: 4/10 Listen to your heart.
TAURUS
(born April 20 - May 20) Although you might dream about putting up your feet and relaxing, you would likely grow bored and end up looking for something to do, anyhow. Luckily, with a little attitude adjustment you’re able to adjust to the demands and find pleasure from settling into your work. You don’t need to go searching the cosmos for anything special; the real magic is found in the most ordinary things you do now. You can’t hide your head in the sand because there is just too much going on now. Thankfully, you have a knack for simplifying the most complicated of circumstances with just a bit of resolve and common sense. Start by setting new priorities and you’ll quickly regain your confidence after you eliminate some of the noise. Energy Meter: 8/10 Plan wisely and enjoy your month.
GEMINI
(born May 21 - June 20) Your most demanding responsibilities may be placed on the back burner for a while this month. But this temporary hiatus doesn’t mean you can automatically avoid your obligations. Don’t leave anyone in the dark when it comes to your work. Then again, the Angel indicates you don’t need permission from anyone to deliver on your promises a little bit later than planned. Live in the moment; have yourself some good old-fashioned fun, but cover your bases before you run. The emotional web you are weaving may begin to unravel this month, and your
energy might feel as if it’s tangled up in knots. However, you should be able to iron everything out once you navigate your way through these annoying challenges. The key is perseverance; the difficult spots will only grow if you try to avoid them. Energy Meter: 7/10 Be crisp and precise with your dealings.
TULIP
FORTUNE
CANCER
(born June 21 - July 22) You might be required to make a decision that greatly affects your personal life. However, you would prefer to wait a bit longer to see how things develop before you announce your choice. Unfortunately, a difference of opinion could reach a boiling point sooner than you expect. Hiding your feelings won’t work this time around. Crawl out of your protective shell and show your true colors, even if being honest feels like risky business. Unexpressed feelings at home complicate family dynamics in more ways than one. Separating your own feelings from those you love can be tricky, even if you attempt to remain objective in your assessment of the situation. Contemplating your options makes sense, but dwelling on them is of no use. Don’t hesitate to take action once you review the possibilities; you have a small window of opportunity now to make something wonderful happen. Speak your truth and let the universe take care of the rest. Energy Meter: 6/10 Balance out your life.
LEO
(born July 23 - August 22) Your rational approach to a relationship dilemma can be your greatest asset now. Being fair and balanced actually requires some mental effort, but is well worth the trouble. The alternative is to rely on your charm to smooth things over, but this familiar strategy will likely leave you short of emotional satisfaction. Making a list of pros and cons is a good place to start. Objectively sift through a variety of possibilities and then do your best to find common ground that’s acceptable to all. Your path into the future may seem clearly obvious, but a few distractions could obscure your way this month. You might even feel as if others are acting out of desperation, trying to persuade you to set aside your plans in favor of theirs. Unfortunately, fighting for your cause won’t solve anything; confrontation just escalates the tension. Energy Meter: 6/10 Give it time.
VIRGO
(born August 23 - September 22) The same old methods won’t necessarily work now, so you must find new ways to accomplish your goals. However, following your impulses might not take you in the right direction, so stop to take a few deep breaths before you switch gears. Even if you made your mind up, reviewing your decision is a prudent move. But you don’t have time to wallow in self-doubt; pick a path and act with confidence as you proceed. If you believe in yourself, so will others. You might be caught off guard as a coworker or friend does something unexpected that derails your plans. You may even feel emotionally abandoned now, even if no one has really left you. Keep in mind that times of great progress are often preceded by times of great chaos. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore a whole new set of possibilities in response to the shifting landscape. Change is inevitable; growth is optional. Evolve while you have the chance. Energy Meter: 7/10 Accept change.
