A people’s person, passionate about his work, and having a Hyderabadi slang is how Shahrukh can be best described. His videos are a great pastime if you want to have a hearty, healthy laugh. With the passion of a thousand burning suns, Shahrukh did not stop at just making videos. He has gone a step ahead and made two movies, both very successful.

“Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh poori kayenat tumhe use milane ki sazish mein lag jaati hai”, he says quoting Shahrukh Khan.

Tell us something about yourself?

I’m really passionate about making videos. I enjoy the process of writing, directing, acting, editing and everything related to it. Basically my life revolves around creating cool content on YouTube. I spend most of my time creating videos and coming up with funny ideas for my channel Hyderabad Diaries. How did you come up with the concept of Hyderabad Diaries?

I always wanted to do something that clearly brought out my creative side as well as my personality. As I spent a lot of my time surfing through the Internet, I definitely was inspired by a lot of YouTubers to start my own channel. Wanting to create something very unique, I realised that there weren’t any YouTube channels

that made videos with Hyderabadi Slang. What other motivation could I need? It seemed like the perfect idea to me. So, I started it.

What is the proudest moment in your career?

My proudest moment was when I made my first movie. When I first started my channel, I never thought that I’d reach a point where I would confidently make a movie of my own. But it happened and happened so well that the movie was a huge hit. At this point, I am done shooting for another movie which is going to hit the theatres very soon.

What do you do in your free time when you’re not working?

The usual guy stuff. I play video games, listen to music, order food, disappoint my parents, switch between social media apps scrolling through my feed for hours and order more food. I also love reading the comments on my pictures from all my fans. It brings me immense pleasure to receive so much love from people who I don’t even know personally. It really boosts my self esteem and encourages me to make more videos.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

What does it take to be successful in the field you excel in?

It definitely takes a lot of passion because you cannot afford to get bored of the stuff you do. If you are not passionate about what you do, then you cannot deliver your 100% to the audience. It also takes a lot of consistency as you cannot be inconsistent when people are waiting for your content. In fact, there’s no place for inconsistency in any field and in any walk of life.

The bazaar comes alive with the glitters of bangles, the smell of Haleem, the flavor of Irani chai, the sheen of mehendi, the calls of vendors and the frenzy of shoppers.

Lad Bazaar famous for bangles is a favorite haunt of women shoppers during Ramzan. The bangle sellers sit with their merchandise in a row. The glitters of bangles of different colors and designs steal the show with each pair of eyes. If you move a little ahead in Lad Bazaar, the shops selling imitation jewellery will greet you. When Eid is around the corner, Hyderabadis hit the market in the evenings to buy bangles and imitation jewellery for gifting.

Hours of walking and shopping from Lad Bazaar to Patther Gatti will surely leave you hungry. With Charminar being cornerstone of Ramzan food culture in the city of Nizams, you will feel spoilt for choice over availability of varied delicacies. A single glimpse of Haleem and Dahi Wada (commonly known as Dahi Bade) – Hyderabad’s most popular Ramzan special delicacies – will make your tongue crave for bites. Tell us about your popular ventures. How did you first begin and how long did it take you to find success?

Feu was a journey. The original concept was to blend food & entertainment, hence the business started as Culinary Studio with a café on the side. Over time our French patisseries became the main attraction. The pandemic provided us the opportunity to grow into a full-service model including a culinary studio, Café, Dessert Bar and a full restaurant.

At KEMBARA our menu provides AuthenticComfort Asian food. Our average customer is well travelled and appreciate the authenticities of various cuisines, adding to the authenticity our aim was to provide Comfort dishes that the customers would like to indulge in again and again.

Tell us something about yourself.

After completing my Bachelors in commerce, I got married and had children, only after the children started school, I started my professional career

My career started with me working in the family business in building materials and chemical industry. After working in the family business for a few years I realized that this was not my cup of tea (pun not intended) and started down the path of F&B on my own

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman? If so, how did you overcome them?

The two big challenges of being new to the industry were:

a. had to start from scratch and go up a very steep learning curve.

b. lacked the credibility in the industry, it was difficult to get people. For example, chefs were reluctant to join a new organization

As a woman, did you have to make any sacrifices professionally and personally at any stage in your career?

Barring a few people with old-fashioned mindsets, by and large I am fortunate to have been born in a generation that is forward thinking and women and men are respected for their work and not necessarily for their gender.

Please elaborate on your role as part of FICCI Y-flo?

My experience with FICCI Y-flo was vastly enriching, not only did it give me a chance to meet, interact and learn from some amazing women leaders it pushed me out of my comfort zone to be more social, more confident and more entrepreneurial

Tell us about your journey with your popular venture Maison Sia, how did you first begin, how long did it take you to find success?

Maison Sia came very naturally and instinctively due to a big problem and a gap that I figured in the market. I started Maison Sia after the birth of my first son, when he was four months old. It felt like a burning desire to fix something, a push to create a solution for a long-standing issue. Plus, it was a fantastic way to satiate consumers’ needs and indulge my passion for luxury & design and turn it into a thriving business. The inspiration behind it all stems from the belief that the luxury and design industry is rapidly evolving, especially in India, which I foresee dominating global lists in the next decade. I'm determined to see Maison Sia right at the top of that list as a brand, making its mark in this dynamic and growing industry.

Tell us something about yourself.

I'm a designer dreamer with a keen eye for pixel-perfect detail. I’m extremely passionate and ambitious and deeply value good relationships. My value for ethics and strong drive define my professional approach.

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman? If so, how did you overcome them?

I think a big challenge that every woman faces while carving out her career path is the battle against the thoughts and conditioning we've soaked up over the years. That was one challenge I think I had and at one point I had to make a choice if it's going to be all family or work or both and I overcame it by jotting down my priorities on paper, reinforcing the idea that my professional pursuits are integral to my identity. Managing societal and mental conditioning proved to be a significant hurdle, especially while convincing my father about pursuing education and a career independently. But I think I've been really blessed to have some amazing people around me, which is why I was able to step up and do what I wanted in due time.

How have you balanced being a mother, wife and a professional?

I’ve got this large sheet of paper put up in my office which I look into everyday, it says quality over quantity. So whatever time I spend with my family, my kids or my husband, I value the quality of it rather than quantity. I believe in making those moments count rather than just ticking the clock. There's something about having less time that makes you give your absolute best. Being a professional comes naturally to me because it aligns with my passion and ambition, and I like that part of me because it makes me learn, evolve every day which may not be the case in any other scenario. But as a mother, there's this inevitable guilt we all carry I tackle it by jotting down my thoughts and finding my own solutions. That piece of paper, reminding me to be where I'm needed and figuring out the rest, is my lifesaver. I'd recommend sticking a note like that in front of you—it works wonders!

What are you working on currently?

Currently I'm working on expanding Maison Sia pan India and getting the best brands from all over the world. On a personal front, my biggest commitment is diving into at least 10 books this quarter which make me evolve and grow as a person. Moreover, I’m also expanding the business vertical at Maison Sia to be the ultimate destination for all things luxury at home, catering to every need of interior designers and architects

What career or business advice would you give to other young women?

I, definitely, very strongly, believe in dreams. If you can't imagine or dream of something, you cannot put it into action. So dream bigenvision a thriving career, dream of solving a real problem, especially if it's a problem close to your heart, you'll naturally give it your all because it’s something you are deeply connected and rooted to. Make an action plan, study the market, analyze your options, and have a well-prepared deck before diving into any business venture then move forward..

As a woman, did you have to make any sacrifices professionally and personally at any stage in your career?

I think every day is a balancing act. As women, we are the ones who beautifully shoulder the responsibility of expanding the human race, nurturing our families, and supporting our partner. I think that's something that comes along the way, but I wouldn't call it a sacrifice. I would call it the learning curve because if it wasn’t for the changes I experienced and went through to make balance and make sure everything is fully nourished and well-watered all across my company and my family, I wouldn't be who I am. So I think those sacrifices have a lot to add to my life rather than take away.

Tell us something about your proudest accomplishment.

I think my recent proudest accomplishment was to win the Economic Times Retail Excellence Award 2024 for Maison Sia. It's truly incredible to witness the growth and expansion we've achieved. It's also a great testimony to a fantastic team I have, it's all teamwork and it's something I'm really proud of and eagerly look forward to what’s next!

How do you blend life and work to create a life you want?

I think I sleep less, work more, that's my way of doing it. Beyond that, gratitude is a big part of my life. I make it a point to appreciate the work I do and cherish my home and family—I'm all about finding that balance. I make sure I plan my day in advance by writing everything that I need to do. I always have vision boards to define my week, my month and my year and so on and so forth. Having a clear vision for both my family life and work helps me strike that balance.

I'm Karishma Hiranandani, founder of Feliz Decor, an event design and planning company dedicated to turning dream occasions into breathtaking realities. My background might surprise you – I hold a degree in mechanical engineering! However, my passion for crafting beautiful experiences led me to event planning. After a corporate stint in Dubai, I returned to India, took a 2-year break, honed my event planning skills, and eventually found my calling in making people's special days unforgettable.

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman?

If so, how did you overcome them?

Initially, being a woman in a sometimes male-dominated field, along with a surge of women entrepreneurs entering the event industry around the same time, presented certain skepticism. However, I focused on delivering flawless execution, showcasing my creative vision, and building strong relationships with clients and vendors. It's a reminder that determination and providing exceptional service can transcend any perceived barriers.

Tell us about your popular ventures. How did you first begin, and how long did it take you to find success?

Destination weddings are one of our most popular ventures. We transform scenic locations into bespoke celebration spaces. I stumbled upon event planning a little after working as an SME at a corporate company in Dubai where I was also part of the organisation's event planning committee. I then returned to India and enrolled myself in an event management course that has taught me so much about the industry. That was the beginning of my journey and eventually, Feliz Decor came into existence.

It took around 6 years of consistent work and innovative offerings to achieve our current widespread recognition.

What career or business advice would you give to other young women?

Find your unique voice and don't be afraid to break the mold. Passion and perseverance will pave your path, but also invest in your skills and business acumen. Build strong relationships in your field – mentorship, collaboration, and a supportive network are invaluable. And most importantly, believe in yourself and be surrounded by people who believe in you.

As a woman, did you have to make any sacrifices professionally and personally at any stage in your career?

Absolutely. The early years of building Feliz Decor involved incredibly long hours, often leading to missed homemade meals and personal events. Finding balance was a learning curve. Now, it's about setting clear boundaries and effective delegation. I truly believe that prioritizing moments of self-care and quality time with loved ones actually fuels my entrepreneurial spirit.

My proudest moments come from the immense joy expressed by our couples, whether it's witnessing their delight at personalized table displays that reflect their relationship or their relief when complex logistics flow seamlessly. Beyond the events themselves, I'm also incredibly proud to have built a thriving business.

How do you blend life and work to create the life you want?

It's not about perfect balance, but flexibility and integration. I accept that some days will be heavily focused on work. I ensure non-negotiable time for things that bring me joy – whether it's a phone call with my best friend to complain about the weather or quality time with family. Sometimes, I interweave the two – my friends and family provide fresh perspectives on my work, and I bring that positive energy into my client relationships and I don't see that failing so far.

Tell us about your journey as a prosthetic MUA. How did you first begin and how long did it take you to find success?

My journey has been pretty straightforward. I’ve always loved makeup and knew I wanted a career in it. I was very lucky that I got introduced to the director and producer of the film Parched and they sort of helped me get my first internship in the industry with Ajay Devgan’s Shivaay. Success took a while though. I did a lot of amazing work but it took me 4 years to land my first project as the Head of Department for Pagglait. After that, things have been going good for me.

I am Samruddhi Sathe, I am a professional makeup artist and I am currently 25.

Have you faced any barriers in your career due to being a woman? If so, how did you overcome them? As lucky as I have been, I definitely have faced a few barriers here and there. Surprisingly, the film makeup industry is much more male dominant, especially when I started 9 years ago, there were very few women who were trained professionally in makeup and sometimes the men weren’t always happy about women entering that space And another thing was always about my age. I started working at 16 & no matter how hard I worked or how good I was, my age was always a problem when it came to a position of responsibility

What are you working on currently?

I am currently working on a Telugu film, it’s my first. I am also doing a few shoots here and there while I work on my personal brand

What career or business advice would you give to other young women?

If you love a certain thing and are hesitant about choosing a stable job or your passion, just try and explore both if you have the ability to If you fail, atleast you know you tried.

As a woman, did you have to make any sacrifices professionally and personally at any stage in your career?

I don’t think I’ve made any major sacrifices per se, but health and routine in a career like mine is very bleak. Our work days are usually 12-14 hrs minimum and there are times when you work for 3 months and only get 5 days off. And most times I am never home, I hardly see my friends and family when I’m away

I think what I’m most proud of is the fact that I am doing what I absolutely love and that I get to stand on my own feet and build something of my own

Label Hiari began as a passion project 12 years ago, where I designed for individual clients from my home studio. The spark grew, leading to a workshop and online sales. Yes , the industry is a tough place for young entrepreneurs especially being a woman its extremely challenging to navigate and get things done with the predominant industry, as we are working with newer technologies yet have to leverage the experience of the existing vendors , interms of souricng and manufacturing clothes, however the times have changed with so many young woman making their life with their beautiful ideas.

Im working on my clothing brand, OG&co, we make clothes from hemp bamboo beechwood, aloevera , lotus etc. We offer B2B and B2C, our B2B comprises of making polo tee shirts and jerseys for corporates. We have associated with FIFA qatar, Indian olympic association, Kabaddi league and many more , as for OG&co the brand , Currently we are working on our summer collection , and we are very excited as we are experimenting with newer fabrics

When we got the opportunity to partner with UPL for FIFA Qatar 2021, it was the first year of our brand , fairly new, I was in a state of shock , in disbelief, but extremely proud because of the delivery lines we met, we had sent the teeshirts that take 90 days to be made within 2 weeks Recently, I had gotten the opportunity to take an exclusive master class on sustainability in Bharat tex delhi, my parents were present there, nothing seemed more fulfilling than seeing them be proud & happy for me.

It’s definitely exhausting sometimes to create a worklife balance, I have a very supportive family who are also like my best friends, the support always helps to bounce back.

Ramadan- Celebrating Togetherness & Traditions

There is nothing quite like the feeling of sitting down for a delicious meal at the end of a long fast, with family, friends, community, and enjoying your favorite foods. One of my favorite parts of the month is how much we get to unite and gather with our extended family, friends and the larger Muslim community. What is that you love the most about Ramadan?

It’s beautiful how Ramadan comes exactly when our hearts need it. The way muslims focus on time of spiritual reflection and self-improvement, and strive to strengthen their faith and improve their character. The incredible thing is that apart from spiritual and religious values , Ramadan has numerous health benefits, including detoxification and weight loss Breaking the fast together with family or friends strengthens bonds, promotes a sense of community, and helps experience the joy of togetherness Its the time to make the most of this holy month and experience its wonderful benefits for the body, mind, and soul.

What are the different cuisines made in your household for Iftaar?

Every ifar table setup is a prioritised planning at our house. every single day is a celebration for our family . Everyone completes the daily tasks or keep them on hold to be right on time for the iftar The iftar spread includes few of the ramadan staples such as haleem, dahi wada, samosas, fruit chaat, cutlet, lassi, rolls, juices, sandwiches, puffs etc However sometimes, we have days exclusively for lebanese cuisine or proper mughlai or even chinese for a change.

This years eid will be celebrated in the peak summer season. We would opt to wear some light and airy comfortable attires

What do you love the most about Ramadan?

Ramadan is always incredibly refreshing spiritually, physically, and mentally. It’s a time where I actively get to improve my faith and focus on my relationship to my friends and family I love the taraweehs, the food, iftar parties, and shopping. I’m a family person I enjoy Preparing the house for Eid, applying mehendi on the night before. Eid prayer followed by making delicious sheer khurma for my family, It instantly lifts my mood and makes me anticipate Eid like nothing else!

What are the different cuisines?

One of the key ways to celebrate Ramadan is through the iftar we food lovers relishes the seasonal delicacies by preparing iftar, Haleem tops the list of the best Ramadan food in our family. Aflatoon, Rooh Afza , fruit chat , pakoras and dahi wada is a staple and you’ll find every home rustling some of it. doubleka-meetha dipped in malai, is a decadent serving often the perfect end to our Iftar

I never really plan my Eid outfits in advance but since this year’s Eid is very special to me, I wanted Something fun and festive a beautiful bright green and pink salwar kameez from sana safinaz.

Ramadan is close to my heart. I make sure I travel all the way from Uk just to spend time with my families and in laws There are countless things which make this month special; from fasting to the community spirit... Here are what I consider to be my favourites in Ramadan.

Taraweeh : Most importantly, Ramadan is the month of spiritual rejuvenation. The taraweeh prayers give us so much peace Standing next to people we don’t usually meet and praying also makes our perspective stronger, and it builds the peace in the community.

What are the different cuisines made in your household for Iftaar?

We usually break our fast with dates and water some samosas and Dahi Wade , then pray the evening prayer After prayer we have a Haleem that mandatory . We usually try Haleem from different restaurants and make sure we cover all the Haleem places in ramzan

AS we are hyderabadies we make sure we have biryani twice a week .

And we love making Turkish cuisine.

Not decided yet But Eid is every Muslim girl’s MET gala! I really want to do something traditional Hyderabadi. I feel like angrakhas are making a huge comeback would love to do that. Mostly in a royal colour like blue or purple.

SCRUMPTIOUS RAMADANRECIPES

Ramadan is here, its a period of self-reflection and teaches to practice self-control but as the sunsets and its time to break our fasts we look for something delicious on our Iftar table we here at Tulip are always up for delicious scrumptious food and therefore have gathered amazing recipes that are not only delicious but also easy to make.

THREAD CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS

Boneless chicken 500gms

Schezwan sauce 3tbsp

Hot paprika powder 1tbsp

Garlic paste 1tsp

Salt to taste

2 egg whites

1tbsp cornflour

1tbsp all-purpose flour

Samosa sheets 20-25

METHOD

Cut chicken into strips and marinate it with schezwan sauce, salt, paprika powder, garlic paste. Mix everything well now add egg whites, cornflour and flour. Mix everything and marinate it for 30mins. Cut samosa leaves into thin strips, now take one chicken strip and roll in the samosa strips, heat oil in the wok on low flame and fry it, serve hot!

CHICKEN MINCE SAMOSAS

INGREDIENTS

Chicken mince 1kg

Coriander 2 bunches

Samosa sheets 50leaves

Ginger garlic paste 2tbsp

Black pepper powder 1tbsp

Red chilli powder 1tbsp

Salt to taste

Green chillies

Coal 1

Oil 4tbsp

METHOD

In a wok add oil, chicken mince fry it for 10-15mins then add ginger garlic paste, salt, black pepper powder, red chilli powder mix it well for 5-10mins. Now burn the coal, in the wok place a small bowl in the middle and put the coal in it add 1tbsp oil on coal and cover it with lid for 5-8mins, this will give your chicken mince a very nice smoky flavour now remove the bowl from the wok, and add chopped coriander and chopped green chillies toss it well, place 1tbsp chicken mince filling in samosa leave and fold it tight fry it in hot oil, serve hot

Gooey chocolate chip Cookies

INGREDIENTS

225gms of good semi-sweet chocolate

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 1/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4th cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt

METHOD

Preheat the oven to 180 degree. Line a dish with butter paper. Chop the chocolate into chunks. Melt half of the chocolate in the microwave, save half for later.
