FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK Dear Readers, Don’t get addled as we bid adieu to this year and welcome the New Year with a bang. Phew!!! I know the year comes to an end so soon. As the New Year dawns with heavy surprises- in every term- economically, financially and not to forget climatically it’s time now to put a full stop and take an oath to seriously put into action our resolutions. It’s also time to strive hard and work positively towards contributing to our family, to the society we live in and to the nation we love. January is also the month of maximum parties. SO go ahead and indulge in a lot of retail therapy- those malls with billboards of SALE, those decorated showrooms offering discounts and the salary appraisals to usher in the festivityall seem so good. Doesn’t it? The answer is yes it does!!! Before you go bacchanalian at the parties have a look at our beauty section which gives you a lowdown on how to care those tresses this winter. If you thought scarves are outdated then you are wrong- our picture essay has scarves in vogue this season. The verdict is out- Slim is out and Curves are in says are piece of life article. Resolutions are definately hard to keep, aren’t they? Our viewpoint article says it all. Now for the BIG surprise- TULIP awards 2010- all those who have impressed us with their tiny details, their attitude towards life and their growth in the market have made it in this section. You will unquestionably like it. THREE THINGS I’VE LEARNT THIS ISSUE When you are ambivalent about what to do next after those wild parties, settle for a succulent barbeque party!!! Nothing can beat the company of friends in deep conversations, bonfire on the side, creeping cold, myriad moods and ofcourse saucy starters for accompaniments. The sky rocking increase in vegetables, political chaos in the city and always going high auto fares hasn’t spoiled the mood to rejoice Christmas or New Year for us Hyderabadis. I’d say cheers to the optimistic spirit. No matter how busy the coming year is going to be, it’s mandatory to have some satisfying ME- time. It leaves you refreshed, rejuvenated and recharged to perform better. I’m thankful to all of you for your extraordinary mails of encouragement, calls of advice and messages for improvement. Keep it flowing!!! Chances are there you could have missed our previous issues in case you have then just click on the Tulip community on Facebook and read the magazine. So while we take a resolution to work harder and put up better issues every time, I’d ask you to get started with the issue without wasting time because you are definitely in for a surprise. Read and Enjoy WISHING ALL OF YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

MEL GIBSON GETS

Increased Custody of Lucia

M

Mel Gibson may be an anti-semitic and homophobic man with serious anger issues, but his parenting is nothing but exemplary in the court’s eyes. Judge Scott Gordon modified the actor’s existing custody agreement with Oksana Grigorieva, giving Mel more custody, not less. Mel will be allowed more time with Lucia, with the increase in by hours. Added up, the additional hours total a little over one more day a week. According to the agreement Mel and Oksana Grigorieva signed in May, both have joint physical and legal custody of Lucia. Under that deal, Mel had visitation rights a total of six days - with three overnight visits - every two weeks. The judge has now increased Mel’s face time slightly. Oksana, who alleges that Mel attacked her earlier this year, and who Mel alleges tried to extort him, wanted Gordon to strip Mel of overnight visits altogether and to only give him monitored visitation. Not exactly how it played out. Criminal probes into both parties are ongoing. Gordon said that the change was made for the best interests of Lucia so make of that what you will.

KIM ZOLCIAK

to write relationship advice book

K

Kim Zolciak once dated a man known as Big Poppa. She then had a fling with a female DJ named Tracy Young and is now having a baby with a 24-year old defensive lineman named Kroy Bierman. In other words: who else would you wanna take relationship advice from??? We ask because Farrah Gray Publishing has confirmed that it’s signed a deal with Kim to pen a book about love and dating. Says founder Dr. Farrah Gray: “I’m thrilled to have Kim apart of my publishing house, her upcoming book is sure to wow fans everywhere. She is sassy, smart and sophisticated.” Up next, we assume the company will sign Amber Portwood for a memoir about responsible parenthood.

IT’S OVER Between Bosworth and Scott

L

Lo Bosworth and Scott Hochstadt have called it quits. (P.S. That’s Lauren Conrad’s BFF from The Hills and her boyfriend, who you never knew existed) After two and a half years together, the sad split went down Tuesday, right before businessman Hochstadt, attended a Family Guy DVD launch party. The duo first stepped out together in summer 2009. On July’s series finale of The Hills, Bosworth agreed to move in, with Scott hinting at a proposal. “They had talked about getting engaged quite a bit,” the source concedes. “But over the last couple of weeks it really unraveled. The age difference was a lot. “They are at different places in their lives. They are taking it slow as friends. Scott loves her family, she loves his family, and all their friends are heartbroken. “But in the end, they couldn’t make it work anymore.” Sounds a lot like Ryan and Scarlett, doesn’t it?

KATRINA BREAKS

BOLLYWOOD

down due to Salman

Being with ex-flame on national TV is something very awkward and Katrina Kaif has to face this for promoting her film, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ on Bigg Boss. As the camera switched on, her uneasiness clearly appeared. Salman is known for his good sense of humor and presence of mind. His very quality drove the actress to the rim and out of embarrassment, she broke into tears. He took a dig at her on working with Ranbir Kapoor with whom she is rumored having an affair with and her favorite co-star Akshay Kumar. He also poked fun at her toota-phoota Hindi. “Before the shoot, things appeared extremely cool. When Farah and Katrina arrived on the sets, Sallu played the perfect host. Everything looked fine but once the cameras rolled, so did the host’s witty remarks which were outright sarcastic. As Farah stepped inside the Bigg Boss house, Kat was left alone on stage for a greater part of the show. At first, she played along but after a point she couldn’t take his digs” said a source. She broke down and drew back to her make-up room. When she returned, the portions were re-shot. The offending parts were edited. Farah maintains, “Katrina did not show that she was upset by Salman’s comments at least not in front of me. I reached the sets late, so I don’t know what happened before.”

AKSHAY KUMAR Demands 27 crores

A

Akshay Kumar has demand a whopping amount of Rs 27 crore to play the role of underworld goon Dawood Ibrahim in the sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. Balaji is keen to make a sequel to the film and Ekta Kapoor has approached Akshay Kumar to play the lead role but hearing his demand, she was stunned. Confirming the news a source said, “Ekta wants to take the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai to the next level. She felt that Akshay would be ideal for playing Dawood Ibrahim’s role. She likes the way Akshay acts and feels that he has a lot of potential for playing challenging roles.” He has been asked to step into Emraan Hashmi’s role. Akki was reasoned that if he was paid so huge amount, it would be impossible for them to generate profit. Hence, Balaji has asked Akshay to lesser down the amount. The actor is in huge demand now and considering his star value, he is not likely to lesser his price. Let’s see whether Balaji ropes Akshay or look for some other hero.

RANI NOT

to marry anytime soon

Bengali babe Rani Mukherjee again rubbishes marriage rumor that is doing the rounds. She declared that no such thing is going to take place and the news is just a media fabrication, “I don’t understand why there is so much fascination about my marriage. I am not tying the knot anytime soon. When I get married I will inform you all. I will make a proper announcement when such a thing comes up,” the actress said. It was rumored that Rani Mukherjee will exchange ring with Aditya Chopra in February next year and marriage will take place soon after it. Denying the news, Rani said, “I have been married far too many times. In media, the news of my marriage has been making the rounds for quite some time. The worst part is they don’t invite me for my wedding”. Rani Mukherjee is keeping rumor aside and at the moment looking forward to the release of her new film, ‘No One Killed Jessica’ where she is playing a journalist. The film is slated for January 7 release. JANUARY OCTOBER 16-31, 01-15, 2010 2011 TULIP 9

After their super hit combination in Shekhar Kammula’s political satire Leader, Daggubati Rana and pretty Richa Gangopadhyay are pairing up once again! WINTER HAIR CARE BEAUTYLIOUS

When the seasons change, you should change more than just your wardrobe. Consider something different for your hair too. This winter, try a new hairstyle, deeper hair colour and a different hair care product says Hair and Beauty Expert Sumant Arigela.

WINTER HAIR COLOR As the cold weather sets in, consider going darker with your hair colour. All the highlights of summer can be replaced with warm, rich colours. For brunettes, deep auburn highlights are a fabulous choice. Blondes can go a shade or two darker in the winter months and get rid of that sundrenched look. Avoid harsh, chunky highlights and instead go for more natural, thin streaks of colour that blend. Face framing highlights will still be popular throughout the winter months.

WINTER HAIR STYLES

Priyanka in her bo

The hottest style of the season is the modern, long bob that falls just above the shoulders. Many women are growing out their short bobs from last year and these longer, layered bobs are a top choice. Celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Anne Hathaway have been seen with this cute cut. Instead of a harsh straight bob, add some layers to give your hair some texture. For something fun, upload your photo to one of the hairstyle websites such as The Hair Styler or Instant Hair Style to “try on” dozens of styles in their virtual studio to see how you’ll look.

BEAUTYLICIOUS

GLAMOROUS UPDO’S Since holiday party season is almost upon us, you should practice putting your hair in an updo. Most of us can’t afford to go to the salon for a coifed style every single time we are headed out to a party. Instead learn how to create a pretty updo yourself. Fortunately messy updo’s are “in.” So if you don’t do it just perfectly, no one will notice. It’s glamorous and beautiful. The pixie haircut seems to be popping up on celebrities every few months. The latest to adopt the look is “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson. Also Pony tails and pinned up hair styles are the flavour of the season. So just blow dry them, tie on top, spray some hair helder and your are all set to go.

In the winter, our hair is exposed to the harsh elements of cold temperatures, damaging winds and dry indoor heating. You need to take some extra steps to make sure your hair stays hydrated and healthy this season. So, try olive oil champi massage along with a hot towel wrap.

Whenever possible, cover your head when going outdoors. Fortunately, winter hats are trendy right now and there are plenty of chic choices to choose from. Be careful as not to wrap your head so tight that your scalp will sweat and your blood can’t circulate properly.

In the warmer months, you may not have to condition your hair every day. However in the winter time, you should use conditioner (at least on your ends) each day. Also try homemade beauty treatments for your hair.

USE A MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO Look for shampoos that are labelled “moisturizing,” “hydrating” or “replenishing.” You want to provide your hair with as much moisture as you can to keep it shiny and healthy. However, you don’t need to shampoo every day. You can use a dry shampoo between washings to keep your hair fresh.

THE PERFECT MATCH SPECIAL BONDING

By Neehara Sanjivi

From a perfect wedding to a life together that they always dreamed of- Sean and Sybil’s story is the kind you would find in your favorite romantic comedy. Fairytale fantasies don’t come true for everyone (well… not for most of us anyway!) but for Sean and Sybil it is how it began. We all read stories of boy-meets-girl and they fall in love, get married and the live happily ever after but it is so rare that you get to see that story played out in that exact sequence. Sean and Sybil were childhood friends and like all those stories we hear about, this one has all the clichés mixed with some of the most unpredictable surprises. Growing up, they were just friends and everyone always suspected that something was up between the two. But it was after a while that they got to know each other and started to become more than friends. “we’ve always known each other since we are family friends, but one day I told her we’d go to church together since her house was on my way” grins Sean. “But we started falling in love when we participated in this a youth fest and we were in the choir together.” adds Sybil. Once they had made things official, one would wonder what their families thought of their relationship. “My family was really happy! They all love Sean more than they love me now!” laughs Sybil. Fast forward seven years and they are now happily married. “We got married on 10th October, 2010- one day, my dad was talking to one of his friends and he said- “Sean’s getting married on 10.10.10!” he knew when I was getting married even before I did!” he jokes. Sean is an event manager for S.V Caterers and worked extra hard to make sure everything was perfect for the big day and he follows the same objective when it comes to his clients as well Sybil was called “Princess” from when she was a child and with that in mind, she got her dream wedding! “It was everything that I would’ve wanted and more! It was really beautiful.” says Sybil. “There was a castle and everything looked like it was out of a fairytale!” “You fall in love once and you get married once, so you might as well make it special” adds Sean. Sybil is a lecturer at Villa Marie College and when asked if she always wanted to teach she says, “I hadn’t really thought about it that much. It just sort of happened and now I love it!” Being held up in occupations that couldn’t be more apart, the couple do not get to spend as much time as they would like to. 20 TULIP JANUARY 01-15, 2011

I know she comes back home at three, so I come home too and we spend about 15 minutes together and we try to make the most of it” says Sean. “She makes sure that when she leaves in the morning that I would have everything that I need. She leaves me little notes everywhere telling me where the papers are and the breakfast and stuff like that” he adds. With a profession that requires Sean to work late and deal with so many different types of people on a daily basis, things can get a bit strained. “Sometimes when you have a tough day with a client or things don’t go the way that they are supposed to, my frustration sometimes gets directed at her but she is very understanding that way and she doesn’t make a huge issue out of it” he says. So who is the one with the shorter fuse? “Maybe me” confesses Sean “but the thing that bothers me the most is that she doesn’t react at all and that gets me even more flared up” he laughs. “But when ever we do have a fight, we make sure that it does not carry on to the next day. The longest any of our fights have lasted is not more than a day” The couple are very religious and makes it a point to pray every night before they go to bed. “We hold hands and pray every night for about five to seven minutes and our day feels com-

plete. Even when we have an argument, at the end of the day we let it go and pray together and it is settled with that” says Sean. “Even before we were married, we used to pray on the phone together” adds Sybil. So, what is the best gift that he has ever given Sybil??? “On our first anniversary he was in Delhi and he got a chain made for me. It said “princess” and he had written it in his handwriting and had it made in silver” guffaws Sybil. Talk about unique! They’ve been together for seven years, out of which they’ve been married for 3 months but they still do the same things that they did when they first started going out. “We started going out on the 2nd of March and we still celebrate monthly anniversaries” says Sean. “We make it a point to wish each other on the second of each month and we go out and celebrate. Maybe dinner or something like that” adds Sybil. “Even if he is busy that day, we make it a point to go out and celebrate that day on a day when he is free” There’s a belief that opposites attract. This statement might just hold well with Sean and Sybil. Sybil is the more reserved and quite one whereas Sean is the more social one. Together they make a perfect match and they believe they are very blessed to have found each other. “I’m really lucky to have Sybil as my wife. JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 21

Who is the better dancer?

With Sybil’s Family

Sybil: Sean Sean: me. Sean says that he would have to agree with his wife’s statement because it is true. :p

And she’s just as lucky to have me!” he laughs. “She really is very special and she takes very good care of me.”

Who is more punctual?

Despite being together for so long, and knowing each other so well, they still are getting their head around the fact that they are married and live in the same house. “You never really know what a person is like until you live with them” says Sybil. “It is still very new for us.”

Sybil: me Sean: Sybil. Sybil is always on time. She makes sure everything is ready five minutes before.

At a time when people strongly believe in living with their partners for a while before they tie the knot, Sean and Sybil beg to differ “What we believe is that when you live separately until you get married, your families remain, independent and it makes a difference when you get married and you see a union of the families as well” says Sean. They have a very close-knit family that they hold in high regard. Not only that, they also are quite close geographically! “Sean’s parents’ house, my parents’ house and our house are all less than a kilometer away from each other so we visit them very often” says Sybil. What do these newlyweds do when they get to spend time together? “We talk and we laugh a lot! We’re laughing all the time. Sean is full of mischief and he’s always playing pranks on someone or the other” she laughs. Now for the question that most newly married couples shy away from- would they want to have kids anytime soon? “Yeah! Whenever we are blessed with a child we would be thrilled. We never had any plans of waiting for a while or anything like that” says Sean. “It would be nice to have a little prince or princess of our own” he grins. Francois de La Rochefoucauld once said- “True love is like ghosts, which everybody talks about and few have seen” Sean and Sybil have definitely seen it and you get a glimpse of it when you are in their presence. So here is wishing this beautiful couple all the best of luck with a lifetime of happiness! 22 TULIP JANUARY 01-15, 2011

MOVIE MANIACS

MOVIE REVIEW By Hassan Ali

A weekend to while away and don’t know what to do. Catch up with a movie in your nearest cinema halls. Before you head for a day of fun, butter popcorns and visual treat to those tired eyes, read on our verdict on this fortnight latest movie. After Avatar there was a standard which was set up for 3D movies in the world, people thought that’s the best 3D they saw ever, and I thought the same before I entered in the theatre to watch Tron legacy which has blown me completely with the visual effects it had. Avatar was awesome no doubt but then this is on par with avatar, let’s put it this way English sci-fi 3D movies era started the year with marvelous Avatar and followed it by the legacy, Tron legacy. This is also the second best 3D movie I have seen this year. Well there has been lots of expectation from the promos of the movie , the first part named TRON which was released 28 years ago, was a huge flop but when we look at the 3D effects the audio visuals and compare it with that era its completely different. Tron Legacy is surprisingly in the same vein as the original “Tron”. It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron. Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film’s director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his roles as Kevin Flynn and Clu, while Bruce Boxleitner reprises his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron. Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn’s now-adult son, Sam. A tie-in 128-page graphic novel Tron: Betrayal was released by Disney Press on November 16, 2010. It includes an 11 page retelling of Tron story in addition to a story fitting between the original film and Tron: Legacy. You will probably like the movie only if you understand this one. The story is more personal this time when compared with the last part, but the eleventh hour assist from the Pixar writers couldn’t quite pull the screenplay out of the muck. Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn doesn’t help matters at all, but Olivia Wilde as Kevin Flynn’s mysterious assistant very much does. Jeff Bridges character (Kevin Flynn) is unrecognizable as the charismatic fireball of the ‘82 film, other than the fact that it’s the same actor playing him. But he’s very good, and commits to the material 110%. As Clu, he even commits to the point of de-aging himself twenty-eight years. And that’s very impressive. The story line of Tron is not its USP, but the visual effects which will amaze you in lot of moments in the movie are, this movie is surely going to win hearts of many as people are going to experience something new and unique after the great AVATAR.

On the whole I give this movie a 3 on 5, the minus two is only for the poor story line and some parts of the movie which stretches it too long, but on the whole go along with your children and have a good one!

Triangular Arrangements

Vertical Arrangements

1. Secure floral foam. Determine the vertical height and horizontal width with the smallest line flowers and/or leaves. Make the height higher than the width. 2. Position the largest focal flowers in the heart of the arrangement and slightly lower to give weight and balance. 3. Fill in with the filler flowers and foliage keeping within the triangular shape.

Oval arrangements 1. Secure the floral foam. Determine the height with line flowers, then frame in the outer edges of the oval shape with light colored flowers and foliage. 2. Place the largest, strongest or brightest flowers in the focal area. 3. Fill in around the larger flowers and leaves with the filler flowers.

1. Wedge or secure foam in a vase with hot glue. Cut the stems of the tallest flowers or leaves to reach three or four times the height of the vase. 2. Place the focal flowers vertically within the diameter of the vase. 3. Fill in the areas as needed with filler flowers.

POT SOME

FLOWERS

What looks more Beautiful in a home than fresh or good artificial flowers? I can’t think of anything! Whether they’re traditional or artistic, Flowers bring a certain look to any space.

The lazy “S” or “Hogarth’s Curve” 1. Anchor the foam securely. Bend the stems gently into graceful curves and insert them in place so they balance 2. Add the focal flowers following the lines of the upper and lower curves. 3. Cluster filler blossoms and foliage around the central flowers maintaining the rhythm of the ‘S’.

Crescent Arrangements 1. Secure foam in container. Determine length of crescent and insert curved line flowers or leaves to follow the crescent form. Angle the shape to balance in the container. 2. Insert the focal flowers fairly low in the bowl to achieve balance, stability and depth. 3. Fill in around the focal flowers with smaller flowers and foliage. Place wisps of filler flowers that gracefully taper off the ends.

Horizontal Arrangements 1. Using a relatively shallow container, anchor foam with a lot of glue or use anchor pins, and position sprays of line flowers to establish the shape of the design. 2. Insert focal flowers in the middle so they gently droop over the lip of the container on both sides, reach towards the line material and extend on either side of the middle. Leave room for filler flowers. 3. Fill in and around focal area with filler flowers and foliage. JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 27

SPA-CIAL

WESTINS HEAVELY SPA ENCOUNTER By Dipika Pillay

Take sabbaticals from work and from the frenzy day to day living. TULIP reviews a spa that will interest you and convince you to indulge in its pampering.

My curiosity was at an all time high as I enter the lavish well spaced spa with dim lightings, soothing music and welcoming beige and serene interiors. Uber luxurious bath tubs, a large steam room, sauna cabin with controlled heating, rainforest shower, plunge pool and sparkling massage rooms will leave you wondering what to pick first. I signed up for a cleansing scrub and an invigorating massage which deeply purifies the skin. My masseuse guides me to the room promising me to experience tranquility and rejuvenation after a cup of steaming herbal tea. After a quick shower I drape myself in their robes (you are given the freedom to disrobe in privacy) and get ready to unwind. A delightful fruit scrub with kamani oil, walnut extracts, juniper orange body serum, coconut bits and squashed grape fruit are slathered all the body and massaged in circular movements with regular intervals of rose water spray to improve skin elasticity and remove the upper layer of dirt and grime. After a 30 minutes skin cleansing ritual it’s wiped off with a hot towel and then comes the 60 minute signature massage. The treatment starts with a rosemary deep sniff that enhances your sensory experience. A mix of Thai, Swedish and Deep Tissue massages this nurtures the entire body and relives of any pain. There is a light massage without any oil given at the start with audio therapy and touch receptors. After which aromatic rosemary cum olive oil is rubbed over in gentle upward strokes, oriental deep acupressure and systematic steps to soothe tension, drain out impurities and flush out toxins. This therapeutic massage gives you an illusion of falling asleep on a cloud. Yes, I mean it!!! The therapists are well educated on their movements and exactly know how much pressure to apply. So, you don’t have go through the procedure of discomfort. After the nerve awakening massage, I soak myself in their hot plunge pool and let the pores unclog. This is followed by a steam if desired or you can just cleanse yourself with body shampoo, I choose the latter. I apply dress back apply some green tea oil cream to protect the supple skin and walk my way to savor some spa cuisine. Watermelon & feta cheese salad with cracked pepper & basil along with a freshly made pineapple juice complete the heavenly spa experience. 28 TULIP JANUARY 01-15, 2011

The spa is well equipped with latest machinery and is thoroughly clean. Their vast whirlpool services will warm and relax your tired muscles without a massage. Made to order spa menu, locker rooms and small knick-knacks make your spa journey a comfortable one. As I leave, I find myself bewitched by the Westin Spa charm- the spa experience will completely bowl you over and get addicted.

HOW TO MAKE

KIDS CORNER

gel candles

Do you love burning beautiful, scented candles? And do you know that you can easily make them yourself? It is exciting and not at all difficult. Here are 12 easy steps to creating unique candles that you can burn at home, give as gifts, or even sell.

uidence Parents G Required All these materials can be obtained online from candle making suppliers. It is important to use essential oils and colors specially made for gel candles; fragrance oils you can buy in a cosmetic shop are not suitable. Also, you can buy a gel candle making kit. Getting a kit is the best solution for a beginner, because it will include everything you need to make your first few candles and of course you will need a container. The best container for a gel candle is glass, so people can see the embeds you put inside the candle, but any non-flammable container would do. You can use any glass, wine glass, or even a small wide vase, but your container should be at least 2 inches in diameter. Garage sales and second hand stores are gold mines, when it comes to candle containers. For embeds you can use anything non-flammable - colored aquarium gravel, marbles, glitter, sand, sea shells, pebbles, crystals, polished stones, artificial jewels or pearls.

Steps to making a gel candle 1. Place a little bit of hot glue in the center of the container bottom. Stick the wick in it and let the glue set. 2. Cut the gel into small pieces so it melts faster and more evenly. Melt it in a stainless steel pot over a medium heat. 3. The trickiest part is the temperature - you should get it to exactly 200°F, because overheated gel looses its clarity. For that, you will need a suitable thermometer. 4. Maintain the temperature at 200°; all the gel should melt and become smooth, like syrup. 5. Add color dye to the melted gel, a little bit at a time, until you get the desired color - remember, you can always add more dye to make the color stronger, but you can’t take dye away. For a candle with embedded objects, you should use only a little color, so the objects remain visible 6. Add the fragrance - 1/3 teaspoon for each glass of melted gel will give it a nice scent. For a stronger scent, add a bit more fragrance. 7. Heat the container in the oven or microwave to about 150-160°F. This will help to reduce the appearance of bubbles 8. If you want to use embeds, dip them in hot gel first and then arrange them in the container as you like. It is better to keep the objects closer to the sides of the container - they will be easier to see, this way. 9. Now it is time to pour your gel into the container. Place your container on a level surface and pour the gel slowly and carefully down the side. If it is your first time, you will probably get a few bubbles; to avoid that, the gel should be still very hot. 10. Pull the wick up. Roll it on a pencil to keep it straight. 11. Let the candle cool. Trim the wick and you are done! You have a beautiful, unique gel candle, made by yourself JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 29

Diseases Cats can suffer from a wide range of health problems, including infectious diseases, parasites, injuries and chronic disease. Vaccinations are available for many of these diseases, and domestic cats are regularly given treatments to eliminate parasites such as worms and fleas

Grooming Cats are known for their cleanliness, spending many hours licking their coats. The cat’s tongue has backwards-facing spines about 500 micrometreslong, which are called papillae. These are quite rigid, as they contain keratin. These spines allow cats to groom themselves by licking their fur, with the rows of papillae acting like a hairbrush

Fighting With domestic cats, males are more likely to fight than females. With feral cats, the most common reason forcat fighting is when two males are competing to mate with a female: here most fights will be won by the heavier male. Another possible reason for fighting in domestic cats is when the cats have difficulties in establishing a territory within a small home. Female cats will also fight over territory or to defend their kittens. When fighting, cats make themselves appear more impressive and threatening by raising their fur and arching their backs, thus increasing their apparent size

Play Domestic cats, especially young kittens, are known for their love of play. This behavior mimics hunting and is important in helping kittens learn to stalk, capture, and kill prey. Cats will also engage in play fighting, with each other and with humans. This behavior may be a way for cats to practice the skills needed for real combat, and might also reduce any fear they associate with launching attacks on other animals.

Slim Vs Curve…

By Deepa S K

Once heard a four year old child praying, “Dear God, Thank you for ma, pa, grandparents, friends and school! But, there is one thing, I ask for… Hmmm… God, please please please make me thin!”. The child was over weight and chubby. If this is a prayer of a four year old, and if only our prayers have wings, I can only imagine all of them, knocking on heaven’s door. My God, the fixation with size has and will be one of every man and woman’s eternal human desire. So, whoever said size does not matter must reconsider their statement. The very meaning of being beautiful was and is still highly considered with being thin. If we observe in a party or get together, the size issue always becomes an integral part of any beginning conversation. As in, “Oh my! What’s up with you, your wife is feeding you well. I see you are hail and very healthy.” Or it’s exact opposite, “Are you fine? You look so frail. You will be surprised to know that, this kind of conversation is found amongst men as well. Thanks to the birth of metrosexual man, that you have almost every Adam hitting that gym or spa to get their size in right shape. Sometimes 34 TULIP JANUARY 01-15, 2011

my heart pours out for men. They have too many sizes to worry about from! Don’t get me wrong, but they begin to grow around their waste line right after the marriage. Now don’t blame the wife, it’s all in the “making out and of love you see”.

Coming back to every human’s fixation of growing thin, which I think has been an ageless issue. You don’t believe, go ahead browse every warrior that history called handsome or beautiful from their sculpture to their paintings or any writers heroine or artists muse-all are thin. See, it’s something that we have been living it out. I’m not quite sure which century this trend started but for some of us being thin is like the ‘A’ priority of life. With liberalisation, came loads of entertainments channels and so came the influence of western thought and lifestyle. And suddenly we saw young girls and boys on TV who were replicas of what walking and talking pencils are with dresses hanging down and sometimes none at all. The world named them ‘models’. With their frail make up, weird dressing (they called in creative and fashionable), it was hard to make out whether they were deprived of basic food, as they all looked like a bundle of bones, covered in miniscule clothing. Their waste size thinner than Catherine Hepburn’s, they were known as the ‘zero size’ girls. Why? May be because there is zero amount of flesh! Now when this trend touched our very Indian shores, Indian men got the heart attacks. Getting used to see nice healthy woman in reel and real life, the dawn of zero size, took them to a surprise. From a father to husband, they wondered what when wrong to their respective women, that the question of, “Am I growing fat?” has become a real pillow talk issue. Poor men folks, if they say yes, it’s a problem and if they say no, they are called liars. What a tragedy and along with it came the existence of another term ‘crash diet’. This seems to be ‘everin’ word. So now we have women just living on many diet courses, liquid, proteins, Atkins diet and many more. To be thin has become, like economics would state- ‘a need’. Sadly this need has a darker side. There are cases where young girls and women deprive their body of food and necessary elements and they grow fatigue and frail. Sometimes, they become so obsessed with staying

thin, that psychology has coined a term for them, calling it ‘Anorexia. I’m not quite sure whether to laugh at their state of mind confused body or feel empathetic to it. But these people have serious problem they need to solve. Sadly, the ‘thin-thing’ has become commercialised and there are many brands that purely live on it. Some of the famous clothing brand does not have a size ‘XX’. What is this biasness in the name of size? Just sounds like another kind of in the making. To add it all there are books and cd’s on ‘crash diets’ and specialised dieticians to guide you through the journey of size. So much so we have many of our Bollywood stars following them and we have enough episodes of the Kapoors, Basu’s, Rai’s and etc, to justify them. What role model’s they are for our Indian girls, who look up to them like their demi God’s? They do justice to the word called ‘model’. I bet they do give the God’s in heaven a run. But, when you ask them about all this, they of course would deny. The cost of looking beautiful is costly. But again beautiful is a very subjective term. And

so, they would say I do yoga and hit the gym. And there are some of these beautiful women who very innocently confess, “I’m just blessed this way. I don’t hit the gym at all.” And by the looks they are a size zero. Is she just thinking that whole world watching her is blind or is she being overtly naïve or she’s just a superb liar. But of course, acting is their profession, I realise. Now when there is so much happening in the women brigade, do you think the men would remain silent? Of course not, they are the only other competition to the women, now that we have the existence of the third gender, I’m yet to figure whether they come under the feminine lifestyle or the opposite. No hard feelings, because they look so beautifully masculine. Anyways, still talking of men, the early 2000 saw a whole lot of upcoming Bollywood star kids in sixpack and rising straight out of the saloon with tweaked eye brows, waxed chests and groomed hair. The consequence now we see in every ‘Indian gully’ a gym and a saloon. So to look beautiful and handsome has actually turned out to be a very serious business and we have hosts of reality pageants’ for the Mr, Ms and Mrs as well. With the increase of burger zones, pizza houses and fast food joints-tasty food has taken its toil on all of us, so much

that our bounty is nothing but calories. So much has their numbers increased, that we have the market pushing such brands with a statement, “Slim is out and Curves are in”. Have more and be more. Now what do I figure from this? Do I be thin or enjoy being large? There is a stiff competition at both ends Slim Vs Non-Slim. Oops sorry, forgot they are called the curvy gals. Sounds pro for all South Indian female leads as being curvy and voluptuous is more than a necessity, as that is what sells and burns the screens. Being Curvy sells and we have a famous brand with its slogans saying “All Assets Were Not Created Equal”! Now you and I know what assets is being highlighted here. So therefore the whole size thingi at the end of the day sounds to me like one whole compromise. It’s good to be size zero and its good to be size curvy. The market and the media both make people happy that way. No one looses it nor is it everyone’s gain. Nevertheless, after this enlightenment still the talks of size will never cease, the thought of growing overweight will grow like a cancer and eat us all. Most of us will take a reso36 TULIP JANUARY 01-15, 2011

lution always for a ‘tomorrow I’ll begin exercising’, whereas some of us will hit the gym today, take an off tomorrow and take a nap the day after, still feeling good that at least I’m hitting somewhere and the few of us with exercise, do yoga and still indulge into all the sinful tempting cuisines. The rest of us like faithful monks will give up all pleasures of the food world believing that if we even breath food, we will put on weight. There is nothing to worry here as there is market that

serves everything for the above mentioned. I’m amused- the very word size is just a four letter word that has quite a sizeable capacity to create a mental havoc. After all we are humans and we tend to choose to feel and believe complicated than settle down being complex. So, all you readers out there, decide what you want to eat and live, anyways all of us will one day go six feet under, but that does not give you the right to abuse your body while over or under feeding it. Enjoy exercising, eating and living! And for the record as for the four year child’s prayer, it’s a true story. God did hear and at the age of 24, she did loose close to ten kilo’s. Now don’t ask me what she did! But loosing and gaining weight are both possible.

New Year’s Eve is arguably the best time of the year. Birthdays aside, it’s the one annual event everybody celebrates regardless of demographics or personal beliefs. The world’s population comes together (in spirit, anyway) to ring in another January 1st and wonder how the last twelve months went by so quickly. New Year’s Eve parties are often the most festive, with plenty of drinks and merriment before the agonizing realization that you didn’t accomplish what you promised yourself last New Year’s Eve. That’s because the advent of a fresh year brings with it the ubiquitous New Year’s resolutions. A compulsion for some but a laughing matter to others, the New Year’s resolution is one of the most debated constructs of modern society. There are those who say the institution is pointless and broken, while others advocate its ability to initiate a process of introspection and self-improvement. Whatever your belief, it is imperative to remember that making a resolution will be futile if you don’t have a genuine desire to maintain it. People who make themselves promises they know they can’t keep do so either without thinking ahead or with no intention of following through.

JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 37

VIEWPOINT

Many people make resolutions to jump on the bandwagon. If you have no interest in the concept of a resolution, the best thing to do is to abstain from making one completely. Banker Vinayak Vishwanath opines, “Resolutions are like laws in that people will continue to break them. I don’t see any point in promising myself anything because I know I won’t keep it up. Instead, I just enjoy life as it comes and try my best to be a good human being. Life is too short, and I’d rather enjoy my house music than worry about trivial resolutions.” On the other hand, there are folks who make resolutions and stick to them. The best method of ensuring that you stand by the promise you make yourself this New Year’s Eve is first taking a moment to think about what you want to accomplish or change. Make sure that it’s something concrete. For example, don’t just say you want to lose weight. Make a resolution in the vein of “I’m going to drop 10 kilos by this summer by working out thrice a week and eating right.” Having a set plan by which you mean to achieve your goal can go a long way in mentally preparing and stimulating you toward that end. It can act as a great motivator, especially if you find yourself falling behind. Of course, you can make these resolutions at any time. Self-improvement is a continuous and gradual process; New Year’s resolutions are not intrinsic to the occasion. This means you can resolve to change yourself at any point in time, not necessarily on the last day of December. Varun Arora, Sales Manager of Bottles & Chimneys, agrees. “I don’t think you should need an occasion to want to better yourself. Improvement can come at any time. If there’s something you want to change about yourself, you can do it at any time if you have the will. Most people do it because of herd mentality, so New Year’s resolutions make little sense to me that way.” Another thing worth considering when making resolutions is whether or not your goal ties in to your actual desires. If you’re happy with your life, then the only sensible resolution is to keep things status quo. If you find yourself immersed in debt and hounded by collectors, would it make sense to make a resolution to contribute to a greener planet? We need to consider our individual preferences and circumstances, not just do what others are doing. That being said, the general improvement of one’s health, finances, and humanity are usually welcome changes for anyone. Chances are any one of us could do with a healthier diet, a fatter savings account, or a more compassionate outlook on life. Another big divide in the resolution realm is business versus personal. Many people try to improve their personal lives, but few consider career growth as a target. Not surprisingly, it’s the people who aim for improvements in the workplace who tend to stick by and eventually accomplish what they set out to do. Businessman Gavin Joseph has combined a work-oriented goal with concern for family to create a new and refreshing resolution. “I’ve made resolutions in the past but they never work out,” he says. “This year, however, I’ve got something more concrete. My father has helped me get my event management and catering business on track, and all that’s left is for me to take the reins. He’s done so much for me, so my only

goal this year is to take control of the business and give my father another hour of rest and relaxation every day.”

Commerce Student Monica Paul, says “I haven’t really thought about it till now, I never make resolutions because I don’t follow them only. If I had to make one it sure would be to have a control on my eating habits.” Moving from resolution to the big party night Samantha Trevor, Red Bulls Wings Team. “A bunch of friends will be coming over for a barbeque at my place. We want a change of pace from the hectic party scene. Aside from grilling, we’re setting up a massive sound system. One of our friends will act as the DJ for the night and mix music on his laptop.” Often, we lack motivation for our resolutions. They’re hollow and empty, lacking the foundation on which a true desire to improve needs to stand. A life-changing experience or wake-up call can make all the difference between a month of resolve and a lifetime. Student Angelo Das has had such an experience this year. “I’ve been neglecting my health for too long and my doctor has asked me to get in shape. This year I want to quit even social drinking and start a reasonable but constant workout regimen. Most people end up breaking their resolutions to hit the gym, but I have that extra bit of resolve to keep myself motivated.” But the excitement and anticipation surrounding New Year’s Eve need not be dampened completely by the serious business of making well-thought-out resolutions. New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate, a time to reflect on the good memories and fun moments of the past 364 days. It is – with good reason – the biggest party night of the year, every year. The classic New Year’s Eve party involves food, drinks, music, and the people who made the year special. While most people prefer to celebrate the event in a club, in a resort, or at home, recent years have seen people take to the unique and unconventional. Some of the more popular and creative ideas we’ve heard include: - Intimate barbeques that don’t attract police attention. You can eat, drink, and party until sunrise. Throw in a decent sound system and an amateur DJ spinning through his laptop, and you’ve got a wonderful party at a throwaway budget. - Driving or flying out of station for a quick holiday, usually in the mountains or by the beach. This is a popular choice among couples who don’t feel like celebrating a loud and noisy New Year’s Eve. - Some people even prefer to sit in solitude, reflecting on what happened the past year. While it may be a good way to take stock of life and relationships, New Year’s Eve is always more fun with people around.

Whatever your plans are, be they inclusive or exclusive of resolutions, TULIP wishes you all a very happy and successful New Year. Enjoy yourselves.

SHED THE ABDOMINAL FAT, and start working toward your flat belly today!!!

If you believe your chubby middle is a harmless nuisance, think again. Abdominal fat can increase your risk of stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer. But you can get rid of stubborn belly fat – and flaunt a tight, toned tummy – by eating and exercising smarter. Do moderate cardiovascular exercise walking or any other cardio activity three to four times a week. It will help burn the layer of stubborn abdominal blubber, called visceral fat, which surrounds your vital organs. It’s also important to eat nutritious foods. Eat no more than 15 grams of sugar a day and 6 servings of carbs (preferably from wholegrain sources that have plenty of fiber). Sugar fails to produce the appetite-suppressing hormone leptin, which has been shown to reduce abdominal fat and prevent overeating. You also should perform three abs exercises three to four times a week.

Here are four tummy exercises which is a mix of easy- to moderate-level moves to suit every skill level.

CARS OF THE STARS By Ashwin Balakrishnan

Everyone wants to be a celebrity; first-class status, people scrambling to make you happy, and the fulfillment of all your worldly pleasures are just some of the benefits of fame and fortune. Celebrities are often judged and ranked by their possessions and nothing matters more than owning a fly set of wheels. While it seems that India’s stars prefer to buy a BMW 7-series or Mercedes S-class and leave it at that, international and Hollywood celebrities are much more varied in their automotive tastes. TULIP takes a look at some of the more popular vehicles among celebrities and a few of the enthusiasts who own them.

Lamborghini Gallardo: Akon The Gallardo is one of the best-selling luxury sports cars in the world, and with good reason. The engine puts out plenty of power, the seating and ergonomics are much more spacious and comfortable than the Gallardo’s competitors, and the Lamborghini swivel doors are so fun to open and close; they alone are worth shelling out the 150,000 euros. Hip-hop artist Akon is a huge fan of the Gallardo and is often seen driving one in Hollywood; the car makes appearances in several of his music videos and is mentioned in the chorus of one his songs. Akon has several Gallardos of all model variants in his garage, including the white-and-red themed one seen here. Many other rappers such as Chris Brown and Xzibit are known to drive Gallardos as well.

Jay Leno has a garage that would make any enthusiast go weak in the knees: over 250 vehicles, including some 100 motorcycles. Leno’s favourite purchases are quirky limited- or non-production vehicles with astoundingly powerful engines. However, he is a known fan of many established commercial brands as well. His affinity for Jaguars led to his being roped in by the company for the launch of their updated XJ line. Not only was Leno the celebrity face at the launch, he promoted the vehicle to the press and public. The first of the new XJ models came off the line and straight into Leno’s garage. Singer Elton John and footballer John Terry – both Brits, coincidentally – are fond of Jaguars as well.

Yamaha R15: John Abraham and Valentino Rossi Yamaha brand ambassador and Bollywood actor John Abraham is one of the few Indian celebrities with an active interest in automotives, and Moto GP legend Valentino Rossi has won four of his six championships on a Yamaha. It made perfect sense that they were the men to launch the first fully-faired Indian sports bike, the Yamaha R15. Both men were impressed with the bike at the launch. Rossi asked for one to ride during his stay in India and another two to be shipped to his homes in Italy and London; John can be seen riding his R15 on occasion at night in Mumbai. The R15’s big brother, the YZF-R1, is a popular choice among celebrities who prefer two wheels. Half of Bollywood’s leading and supporting men are known to be owners or fans of the R1.

Range Rover Evoque: The Beckhams British manufacturer Land Rover enlisted the services of footballer David Beckham’s wife Victoria to design a trendy new model of the Range Rover series, dubbed the Evoque. As the creative design executive, Victoria was responsible for the exterior aesthetics and interior design of the car. Due for release in summer 2011, the Evoque marks the entrance of Brand Beckham into the world of motoring. David has been busy plugging his wife’s creation to his fans and friends, and many of his English teammates are on-board to buy the vehicle when it releases.

Ducati Streetfighter: Brad Pitt Everyone in Hollywood knows that nobody enjoys his motorcycles more than Brad Pitt. Even the combined passion of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone put together can’t match the love Mr. Smith has for his two wheels. He’s been known to zip about town, to and from shoots, and to the bar on his bikes. His favourite this summer was the Ducati Streetfighter, a 1098cc demon with aggressive naked looks and a powerful engine. Pitt encourages safety and interest in bikes, and is always in full protective gear when riding.

COFFEE AND ART ON A PLATTER By Dipika Pillay

Imagine yourself on a quite morning with birds chirping - You are seated lazily in a mini- garden and working on your laptop, huge portions of American breakfast on one side and hot cappuccino on the other- to sum it up- A RELAXING AFFAIR!!!

Beyond Coffee

is a spacious low seated boutique coffee house cum art gallery serving some delicious continental breakfast and coffees. There are dime a dozen coffee parlors in the city but this one is different as chalk and cheese. One the ambience is relaxed and when I say this I mean literally relaxed, no hookahs, and no eye striking lighting, no offensive posters on the wall and no sad paints. Two their clean kitchens, hygienic food and glove(d) manpower ensure what your eating is safe. Three the combination of art, coffee and food has been blended so well that it does not get you bored.

The breakfast platter with fluffy stuffed omelet, fresh toasted slices of bread, crisp hash browns and pancakes with mini cups of honey, butter and pineapple jam is a must try. Although simple it has something to brighten your day. A cup of fresh assorted fruits would have made this even better. Coming to the beverages The Degas Dancer, a strong shot of chocolate latte with a hint of mint was exceptional in taste and different from what I’ve ever tasted before. Their authentic deserts New York cheese cake and Flourless chocolate cakes are gooey chunks that will you cheer you. It’s unique in taste and will make you an addict if have a sweet tooth.

“I came up with this idea because I love coffee and art. I wanted to make art easily accessible from two levels- one from the money part and the other by providing a platform. We have art exhibitions cum sale every fortnight and artist display their works here. Anyone can drop and look around, have a friendly conversation with the artists and grab some food. People should come here because it’s beyond coffee!!! ” says Vivek Rao, proprietor of this cozy inn. Other things on the menu include croissants, fresh muffins, pies, cakes, variety of hot and cold beverages, pastas, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pizzas. Monet Sunrise, an organic coffee from the green valley of Araku’s with citrus, green apple, chocolate and caramel should be given a try. Constable’s Monutain Blue, hot tea from the Nilgiris and The muse d orsay, French onion soup is a favourite with many of their loyal customer. On the whole it’s a warm place with welcoming ambience to unwind at plus good food, creative art works and out of the box elements will surprise you. Like they have a band that performs every week, you can sing and dance along with them. Vivek explains that coming month there will be a unconventional artist who will perform live. So watch out for fun!!! JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 49

The Perfect HANDBAG

The handbag is an essential item for most women, helping carry around the day and night’s necessitates. Yet despite its importance in functionality, the handbag is also one of the most essential-and stylistically telling-pieces in fashion. Thus, it’s important to consider various features when choosing a handbag, to ensure you get the most out of both its functionality and style says Dipika Pillay

M

any women own at least one or two “staple” handbags, which they use every day and pair with most outfits. What’s more, most of these handbags end up being neutral in colour-for example, browns, nudes, or plain black. However, choosing a handbag to mesh with most “looks” doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Opt for a unique style, while sticking with a neutral colour and you’ll still be able to spice up any outfit. Alternatively, kick it up a notch by choosing a handbag with metallic or subtle print detailing. However, no one ever said your “staple” handbag can’t be colorful. If you’re not afraid to stand out, opt for bright hues like red, yellow, orange and green. And don’t always worry about your handbag matching with every outfit. A lot of bright coloured handbags -especially those that are solid coloured-will compliment many different outfits. Just remember not to let your handbag-outfit combination get too busy with prints and bright colours. When it comes to specific “looks”, certain styles of handbags are definitely more appropriate. For instance, if you normally dress up for the office, odds are you’ll want a handbag to match. Opt for a structured bag with two top handles for a chic, ladylike look. On the other hand, if you’re trying to achieve a more casual look, pick up a messenger bag (which you can find in everything from canvas to leather). Worn across the body, these bags leave your arms free; but they’re certainly more stylish than backpacks. Looking for something hip? Sling a slouchy “hobo” style bag over your shoulder. And if your style is a bit edgier, pick up a clutch bag adorned with metal hardware or studs. Size is another important feature when it comes to choosing a handbag. Ever see anyone walking around with an overstuffed purse? It’s not a pretty sight-and it’s one purse pitfall that should be avoided at all costs. Sure, we all have days when we carry around more than usual. But if you typically tote a ton around, you’re better off sizing up on your handbag. That being said, however, you should also consider your own size when choosing a handbag. If you’re petite, don’t carry around a massive bag that overpowers your frame. Instead, opt for something relative to your size. If you tend to carry around a lot in your purse, size up (at most) to a medium bag. On the other hand, if you’re tall or broad, a tiny bag will seem too small. Try one that’s on the larger side for a look that’s better suited to your frame. Last but not least, learn to let go when it’s time for a new handbag. Many women tend to get attached to their handbags-which is not surprising, considering it accompanies them everywhere. But when holes, worn leather, tears, or frayed stitching start to show, it’s time to move on to a new bag. Keeping these few tips in mind when shopping for handbags will ensure you get one that suits not only your functional needs, but also your unique style. JANUARY 01-15, 2011 TULIP 51

GADGETS Here we go again this time for all you gadget lovers this time its the new macbook air which is in market now, this is definately something that you will vouch for this season. All the apple lovers wanted a MacBook which would cost cheaper and have a sleeker look, this is the delightful yet expensive gift that you will want to buy this new year. It’s got 11.6 inch very effective bright screen with awesome resolution, and it also comes with a nvidea ge force graphic card which will be a treat for the gamers as it will play most of your games. The MacBook Air was wanted by many but many couldn’t afford the high price tag it had so apple has found a way for its real mainstream audience which is this piece of wounderful laptop. The 13 inch earlier MacBook air was thinner and lighter, but still not quite different enough to justify the hefty investment. By doing more to differentiate the product, and dropping the entry price, the new MacBook Air succeeds in carving out more than an enthusiast niche for itself. The quick boot times, long battery life (with extra long standby time), and excellent keyboard/track pad combo make this our new go-to ultraportable (if price is not an issue), with our enthusiasm muted only by a missing SD card slot and older low-voltage CPU. Features- It’s designed around all-flash storage for better responsiveness and reliability. AllFlash Storage allows you to access data quickly, and it gives MacBook Air the astonishing ability to remain in standby mode for up to 30 days. A spacious Multi-Touch trackpad with a buttonless design, so you can click anywhere. The MultiTouch trackpad also lets you pinch, swipe, or rotate to adjust an image, zoom in on text, or advance through a photo album. High Resolution pictures, face time camera and stereo speakers complete this ultra slim notebook. Well to put it straight I love this gadget, but I will still not put in 58000 bucks on this one, but for you uber cool guys for whom the memory doesn’t matter can go for this 64 GB compact MacBook air which will surely attract eyeballs towards you whenever you have this one In your hands, so I rate this gadget 3 on 5. Minus two for the high price tag and for the hard drive memory which is too less for a laptop.

And thats the reason why new faces are on this section. The 3D party and Ashley Wallbridge show at B&C was the only saving grace this fortnight. Girls ditched their cocktail dresses and turned up in pretty clothes to compliment the cold, boys also did the same. Hoodies, sneekers, woolen jackets, scarves and warm clothes remained in the lime light. Coming fortnight we hope to see more of action packed parties.
