Everything you wear affects your life no matter how subtle it may be. The garments that you gravitate towards are chosen for a reason. They correlate to the energy levels that you produce and can either work to hinder or grow said energy. Every piece of clothing has a specific combination of energy that will work with your elemental energy. When you consider what elemental energy you produce, while also considering how every garment produces its own energy, you can affectively decide and introduce positive energies for your days ahead. Using the Color & Emotion app, you can de-code what energies your garments produce and how compatible they are for you. A special 9 digit ID number system is used to sort and categorize individual garments, and is derived from the concepts of Zeus Sensor and Body Source Code. The 9 digit system is broken down in the same manner as a person’s Destiny Number. Each digit is associated with one of the Five Elements and a Yin or Yang polarity. Like the Body Source Code, these elements are assigned to the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches of the four pillars of year, month, day and hour. The comparison between your Body Source Code and the 9 digit ID number of a garment allows you to understand the compatibility between the personal energies you produce versus what you choose to wear. When considering these 9 digit ID numbers, we take into account what makes up the garment. An in-depth analysis is done, from the source of the materials used to the country of manufacturing. The generated codes are true representations of the energy levels. Every garment has two specific deities that represent the base elemental structure. It takes multiple ideas strung together to form a concept. The same is true in fashion. An item of clothing is made up of multiple inspirational minds and factors, therefore when devising these ID numbers, a combination of two deities are used, each representing a specific element. The combination of these deities produces the basis for the 9 digit ID number of each garment. This coat’s energy is comprised of the combination of Zeus and Hestia. Its 9 digit ID number is:

CORE CONCEPTS
EXPLANATION In this case it is the representation of Zeus who is the main god in this garment. Zeus sets the tone of the entire garment and the style and color reflects that. Zeus = Yin Earth = 0
Year: Heavenly Stem.
1
Element of the 2nd God of the combination. Year: Earthly Branch.
0
Fabric code
To calculate this digit of the year stem we consider the element of the second god in the combination. Hestia = Yang Water = 1 Each type of fabric is associated with one of the 14 gods in Zeus Sensor, which are represented by the elements and their corresponding numbers. Wood = Zeus = Yin Earth = 0
Month: Heavenly Stem.
4
Month the garment was introduced. Month: Earthly Branch.
3
Yardage of materials used.
Using the 24 solar terms featured in the Zeus Sensor, we can pinpoint the elemental energies featured in the month the garment was released. September = Yin Metal = 4 The amount of fabric used (in yards) will directly affect the amount of energy in every garment. If there is more than 1 digit in the length, break down the number by adding together the individual digits (for example: 15 = 1+5 = 6). *3 yards - In this particular dress, the yardage used was 3 yards (single digit)
Day: Heavenly Stem.

5
1
Element of the 1st god in the combination.
Zeus = Yin Earth = 0
Day: Earthly Branch.
In this case, this garment was introduced in the year of 2015.
Year of the collection
2015 = 5 (using the last digit of the year)
Hour: Heavenly Stem.
The region of the world that the fabric originated from, represented by an element and its number.
Origin of the fabric
This garment is primarily made of wool crepe, originating from Northern Europe = Yang Water = 1 Hour: Earthly Branch.
3
To calculate this digit of the Day Stem, we consider the element of the first god in the combination.
Country of manufacturing
The region of the world that the garment was manufactured in, represented by an element and its number. Toronto, Canada = Yang Wood = 3

One Planet, Five Elements
COLOR & EMOTION
We have created the simple concept of a personal ID. The personal ID does not represent citizens of a country, but they are rather the number codes that derive precisely from the year, month, day, hour and minute of our births, and take into account the longitude and latitude of the birth place, as well as the true solar time. There are a total of nine numbers. The numbers 0 and 5 are repetitive. These two numbers are our main elemental attributes. Through these nine numbers, we can balance the five elemental energies that we need. The same IDs are also attached to all products. Therefore, you can buy the products to match with your elemental requirements.

Great bridal looks require a little love and devotion. We all know that washing, blow-drying, and heat-styling on a daily basis makes for a messy head, full of split ends. Start repairing from the inside out. Experts believe that a diet filled with Vitamin B helps bring out your hair’s natural shine. Foods like fish, nuts, and eggs will give you a good head start.
When it comes to the best way to care for your face, there are many schools of thought but here are a few good pointers for common issues a dermatologist can help those fighting a losing acne battle, by prescribing topical creams and oral pills, or administering facial peels to knock out bacteria and oils. Start seeing a dermatologist six months before the wedding. But the real secret to great skin? Water. Drink tons of H2O before and on your wedding day to make your face look dewy and radiant.
Dark circles and puffiness are common bride-to-be afflictions. A nightly application of eye cream, in combination with adequate sleep, will improve the appearance of dark circles and a cool compress once or twice a week (or as needed) helps keep puffiness at bay. During the days before the wedding, steer clear of too much salty food, which can cause eyes to look swollen.

In the Body Source Code book , the 10 Heavenly Stems and 12 Earthly Branches are characteristics used to calculate time periods in the Chinese calendar. The heavenly stems were created to represent days. The earthly branches were created to represent months. One symbol from each set creates a pair that characterizes our energy at our particular time of birth. These pairs constitute our Body Source Code, which reveals our personality. Knowing and utilizing our talents gives us direction. Identifying our innate strengths and weaknesses will help guide us daily in making decisions by revealing not only our emotions, but the emotions in our environment as well.

Origin of the 109 Jade Emperor platform
Origin It was said that the Jade Emperor was originally the crown prince of the kingdom of Pure Felicity and Majestic Heavenly Lights and Ornaments. At birth, he emitted a wondrous light that filled the entire kingdom. When he was young, he was kind, intelligent and wise. He devoted his entire childhood to helping the needy (the poor and suffering, the deserted and single, the hungry and disabled). Furthermore, he showed respect and benevolence to both men and creatures. After his father died, he ascended the throne. He made sure that everyone in his kingdom found peace and contentment. After that, he told his ministers that he wished to cultivate “Tao on the Bright and Fragrant Cliff. After 1,750 kalpas, each kalpa lasting for 129,600 years, he attained Golden Immortality. After another one hundred million years of cultivation, he finally became the Jade Emperor.
The Myth One of the myths describes how the Jade Emperor became the monarch of all the deities in heaven. In the beginning of time, the earth was a very difficult place to live, much harsher than it is now. People had to deal with a variety of monstrous beings, and they didn’t have many gods to protect them; in addition, many powerful demons were defying the immortals of heaven. The Jade Emperor was an ordinary immortal who roamed the earth helping as many people as he could. He was saddened because his powers could only ease the suffering of humans. He retreated to a mountain cave to cultivate his Tao.
42
Fashion & Living Winter 2015
On earth at this time, a powerful, evil entity had the ambition to conquer the immortals and gods in heaven and proclaim sovereignty over the entire universe. This evil entity also went into retreat and meditation to expand its power, though later than the Jade Emperor did. He passed through 3,000 trials, each trial lasting about 3 million years. After its final trial, it felt confident that no one could defeat it. It re-entered the world and recruited an army of demons with the purpose of attacking heaven. The immortals, being aware of the threat, gathered themselves and prepared for war. The gods were unable to stop the powerful demon and it defeated them all. The Jade Emperor finished his cultivation during this war. When he was changing the land to make it more livable for men and repelling a variety of monsters, he saw an evil glow emitting from heaven and knew something was amiss. He ascended and saw that the evil entity was too powerful to be stopped by the gods. He challenged it, and they fought. Mountains shook and rivers and seas toppled. Due to his deeper and wiser cultivation, his benevolence instead of his might, the Jade Emperor won the battle. Thus, from his noble and benevolent deeds, the gods, immortals and humans proclaimed the Jade Emperor the supreme sovereign of all.

COLORS
SHOES
Women’s fashion in the mid-1980s became more colorful around 1985. This included long wool coats, long flared skirts, slim miniskirts, slightly tapered pants stirrup ones, designer jeans, spandex cycling shorts, extremely long bulky sweaters, jumpsuits, pastel colors, leather trench coats, fur coats, extremely large scarves, beanies, leather gloves, and dresses worn with wide or thin belts. The aerobics craze of the early 1980s continued into the mid1980s.
Meanwhile, women’s fashion and business shoes revisited the pointed toes and spiked heels that were popular in the 1950s and early 1960s. Some stores stocked canvas or satin covered fashion shoes in white and dyed them to the customer’s preferred color, preferably bright colors.
GLOVES Laced or fingerless gloves were popularized by Madonna, as well as fishnet stockings and layers of beaded necklaces. Short, tight Lycra or leather miniskirts and tubular dresses were also worn, as were cropped bolero-style jackets.
POWER DRESSING The television prime time shows Dallas and, in particular, Dynasty had an impact in the area of the increasingly oversized shoulder pads. Dallas, however, promoted displays of wealth involving jewelry and sparkling clothing. Photos credit: https://pixabay.com.

HISTORY
The iconic Dolce & Gabbana is a fashion house founded in 1985 in Legnano, Milan by two designers, Domnico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. These two designers met in Milan in 1980, fate had them designing for the same fashion house. In 1982 they established a fashion house, which we now know as Dolce and Gabbana. Later, in 1985 they presented their first women’s collection in Milan, the success of which led to their first store in 1986 from that moment on they were an unstoppable force in the fashion industry. In 1988, they launched their leotard line, and in 1989 they began designing underwear and swimming costumes. Dolce & Gabbana started to export their products to Japan and other countries like the U.S., where they founded their own showroom in 1990. In 1992, the same year they presented their men’s collection, they also launched their first perfume Dolce & Gabbana. They won the Woolmark
award in 1991, and the prize “most feminine flavor of the year” in 1993. Towards the end of the 1990s their sales were around €500 million and in 2003 their revenue reached €633 million. By 2005, their turnover was €600 million. By 1991, their men’s collection was awarded the Woolmark Award for the most innovative men’s collection of the year. What is considered to be their first foray into international recognition came when Madonna wore a corset made of gemstones and accompanying jacket from Dolce & Gabbana to the premiere of Truth or Dare: In Bed with Madonna at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Dolce & Gabbana continued to work with Madonna, designing the costumes for her Drowned World Tour in 2001, in support of her 2000 album Music. They also designed costumes for the international tours of Missy Elliot, Beyoncé, and Mary J. Blige.
Originally inspired by eclectic, thrift shop Bohemia, Dolce & Gabbana’s deeply colored, animal prints have been described as “haute hippy dom” taking inspiration in particular from Italy’s prestigious film history. “When we design it’s like a movie” says Domenico Dolce. “We think of a story and we design the clothes to go with it.” They claim to be more concerned about creating the best, most flattering clothes than sparking trends, once admitting that they wouldn’t mind if their only contribution to fashion history was a black bra (Dolce & Gabbana 2007). Sicily and Sicilian culture is the most important style and identity of Dolce & Gabbana.

EASY STEPS to find the perfect flowers for your perfect day
• 1 Start by looking through bridal magazines, books, and even
• 5 Decide upon the bridesmaids’ bouquets. The bridesmaids’
gardening books that focus on flowers. If you don’t already have an idea of the types of flowers you’d like to have, looking at beautifully photographed flowers can be a lovely way to start getting an idea of what you like
flowers can be a smaller version of the bride’s flowers or a different shape but still maintaining the color theme.
• 2 Determine your budget. Before you get too excited, do the sums. Some floral arrangements might not be realistic once you have budgeted for everything else, so it’s a good idea to know how much you have to spend on flowers.
• 3 Consider the color of the flowers. Color is an important part of your decision about which flowers to have. The colors chosen should complement the bridal gown, the wedding theme, and the clothing of the rest of the bridal party. Understanding the elemental energies that you wish to portray that day will also aid in this step. Finding flowers will aid in producing positive energies on your wedding day.
• 6 Prepare the bridegroom and groomsmen. Although their need for flowers is less showy, it’s just as important, and they will wear a buttonhole/boutonniere.
• 7 Prepare the corsages. Both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom wear corsages. These should complement their outfits.
• 8 Congratulations! You have completed all the steps in finding the perfect flowers for your wedding day.
• 4 Start with the bridal bouquet. This is the most intimate floral arrangement for the wedding and if you can’t afford many flowers, at least don’t skimp on the bouquet! The bride’s bouquet should be the largest and most spectacular bouquet in the wedding party.

EASY STEPS
to find your perfect wedding cake Plan well in advance. Unless you already have a firm idea of the kind of cake you’d like, there will need to be time to look around at options, as well as booking the cake creator, allocating the funds, and finding any special decorative elements. So be sure to give yourself plenty of planning time. Be aware that cake makers who are in high demand can be booked out during the high summer season, so don’t leave your booking too late if marrying at this time. Start looking for ideas. While your wedding theme might automatically suggest the type of wedding cake, this won’t always be self-evident or in line with your other preferences. When choosing a cake style, consider looking at the following research resources: Know the traditional and alternative wedding cake choices. The following cakes are among those considered appropriate for the wedding context.
1 1-2 Photo credit: The Big Apple Bakery 3-5 photos credit: https://pixabay.com.
2
While a big, complicated single cake perfectly covered in frilly frosting or smooth fondant may be beyond a typical home baker’s skill, several cheery alternatives aren’t! Decide on your budget. Once you’ve got some idea of the type of cake you’d like, you’ll need to work out how much money you have to spend on the cake. Be realistic and compare the prices of various cake vendors. When it gets down to the time of choosing the baker, you can ask for quotes and then compare these and ask for discounts where appropriate. Visit the bakers and caterers who specialize in weddings and that seem like good choices to you. Ask to see their portfolios of cake ideas. Ask them to show you photographs of previous cakes. Don’t rush this step–take time to compare and contrast the different styles and specialties provided by each baker.
3
Draw up your own plans for a cake. Once you have decided which bakers’ creations you like the most, take your ideas along to them and discuss these. Ask about the difficulty, the possibilities, and the costs. At this point, you should be able to start getting a good idea of what type of cake you can realistically have, and which of the bakers is most likely to achieve this for you. Choose your baker. Keep working with the baker regularly to improve and adjust your cake ideas. Ask for sample mock-ups to help you through the process. Be sure to let your baker know about decoration and design wishes, and if you intend on providing any of the cake decorations, get these to the baker on time.

Origins of the Wedding Band

WEDDING
Origins It is widely believed that the first examples of wedding rings were found in ancient Egypt. Relics dating back as far as 3,000 years ago, including papyrus scrolls, show evidence of braided rings of hemp or reeds being exchanged among a wedded couple. Egypt viewed the circle as a symbol of eternity, and the ring served to signify the never-ending love between the couple. This was also the origin of the practice of wearing the wedding ring on the ring finger of the left hand, which the Egyptians believed to house a special vein that was connected directly to the heart.

Although originating from ancient Egypt the wedding ring also has roots in Eastern traction where the division of the 5 elements led to the perfect position of the wedding band.
• Thumb = Earth Element • Index Finger = Metal Element • Middle Finger = Water Element • Ring Finger = Wood Element • Pinky Finger = Fire Element
72
Fashion & Living Winter 2015
Understanding the cycle of the 5 elements will lead you to conclusion that the root of commitment comes from the grounding of the Wood element. Traditionally in ancient eastern philosophy one would use the Metal element to ground that of Wood. If you picture this system using the metaphor of the planting of a flower, it is easier to understand. A beautiful flower (Wood element) found in nature is a thing to behold, for someone to claim such a thing a vessel of some sort would be needed. Thus the Metal element comes into play, it is only with this element that the Wood element can be safely grounded, supported and nurtured. Similarity the wedding band holds the same properties.

HONEY GLAZED VEAL CHOPS
THE PERFECT ROAST TURKEY
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil 6 anchovy fillets, finely chopped Six 1/2-pound veal rib chops, cut about 3/4 inch thick Salt and freshly ground pepper 1 cup dry white wine 6 sage leaves 3 whole cloves 2 bay leaves 1 cup chicken stock or broth 1 1/2 cups seedless red grapes 3 tablespoons honey
12 lb whole turkey fresh or frozen (thawed) 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 lb turkey breakfast sausage 2 cups chopped onion 1 French baguette (10 ounces) cut into 1-inch cubes 1 can (15½ ounces) chestnuts drained ½ cup chopped fresh parsley ½ teaspoon dried thyme ½ teaspoon dried sage ½ teaspoon pepper 1 cup turkey broth or reduced-sodium chicken bouillon
Directions: In a very large skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the anchovies and cook over moderately low heat, mashing the anchovies until pureed, about 3 minutes. Increase the heat to high. Season the veal chops with salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer the chops to a platter. Add the wine, sage, cloves and bay leaves to the skillet and cook over moderately high heat until the wine is reduced to 2 tablespoons, about 5 minutes. Add the stock and bring to a boil. Add the veal chops and their juices, cover and simmer over low heat until the chops are barely pink in the center, about 3 minutes per side. Return the chops to the platter and cover loosely with foil. Add the grapes and honey to the skillet, cover and cook over moderate heat until the grapes are tender, about 4 minutes. Scatter the grapes over the chops. Boil the pan juices over high heat until reduced to 1 cup, about 5 minutes. Discard the cloves and bay leaves. Pour the sauce over the chops and serve.
Directions: Remove giblets and neck from turkey; reserve for gravy. Rinse turkey with cold running water and drain well. Blot dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt and pepper in the cavities of the bird. Fold neck skin and fasten to the back with skewers. Fold the wings under the back of the turkey. Return legs to tucked position. In large non-stick skillet, over medium-high heat, saute turkey sausage and onions 5 to 7 minutes or until sausages no longer pink. In large bowl combine turkey sausage mixture, bread cubes, chestnuts, parsley, thyme, sage and pepper. Add turkey broth and stir to moisten. Lightly spoon stuffing into turkey or a (9X 12inch) baking pan, sprayed with vegetable cooking spray. Place turkey, breast side up, on a rack in a large shallow (no more than 2½” deep) roasting pan. Insert an oven-safe thermometer into thickest part of the thigh, being careful it does not touch the bone. Roast turkey in a preheated 325°F oven about 3½ hours (total roasting time). Baste with the pan juices. Continue to roast until the thermometer registers 180°F in the thigh, 170°F in the breast and 165°F in the stuffing. Remove turkey from the oven and allow the bird to rest for 15–20 minutes before carving.

GINGER AND SPICE COOKIES
DECADENT VANILLA CUPCAKES
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 1/2 cups packed dark brown sugar 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) softened unsalted butter 1 cup dark molasses 2 eggs 1 tablespoon maple extract
1 stick plus 1 tablespoon soft butter 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar 2 eggs 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
Directions: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg, and whisk them together. Set the mixture aside for a minute. In an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the brown sugar and softened butter until fluffy. Drizzle in the molasses, mixing well and scraping the sides halfway through if necessary. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the maple extract and mix well. Add the flour mixture in 3 batches, beating until just combined after each addition. The dough will be pretty dense and slightly dry to the touch. That’s the way you want it! Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment. Roll the dough out 1/3 inch thick (rolling between 2 sheets of plastic wrap will keep the rolling pin from sticking). Cut using any cutters you like, and transfer onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake until the cookies are baked through but still soft, 16 to 18 minutes.
FOOD
Royal Icing: *2 large egg whites (or substitute powdered egg whites) 3 cups confectioners’ sugar 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions: Special equipment: 12 bun muffin pan, lined with muffin papers. Take everything you need out of the fridge in time to get to room temperature - and this makes a huge difference to the lightness of the cupcakes later - and preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Put all of the ingredients for the cupcakes except for the milk into a food processor and blitz until smooth. Pulse while adding the milk down the funnel, to make a smooth dropping consistency. Divide the mixture between a 12-bun muffin tin lined with muffin papers, and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. They should have risen and be golden on top. Let them cool a little in their tins on a rack, and then take them carefully out of the tin to cool in their papers, still on the wire rack. Ice with Royal Icing. Royal Icing: Combine the egg whites and confectioners’ sugar in a medium-size mixing bowl and whip with an electric mixer on medium speed until opaque and shiny, about 5 minutes. Whisk in the lemon juice, this will thin out the icing. Beat for another couple of minutes until you reach the right spreading consistency for the cupcakes. Yield: sufficient to generously ice 12 cupcakes Fashion & Living Winter 2015

What is a Chinese wedding tea ceremony? It is a traditional Chinese wedding must, the tea ceremony is one of the most significant events during the celebration of a union. It is the introduction of the bride and groom to their families, it is rooted in respect and tradition. Historically, after the exchanging of vows, couples would then serve tea to the family members of both the groom and bride.
Chinese tea ceremony history One of the earliest recording of the tea ceremony was from the Tang Dynasty over 1200 years ago. It was called cha dao (茶道)or the way of tea. Influenced by Japanese culture, the tea ceremony became more grave and formal. Since the early 1900s, Chinese weddings have modernized and partly following western practice. However, the tradition of tea ceremonies in Chinese weddings has remained, and is still practiced today.
What is the meaning of a Chinese wedding tea ceremony? In China, serving tea when guests come is a very traditional propriety. It is a significant way to show respects. In the wedding, this act is in respect and gratitude to her parents for all the years of love and care. Besides this, tea ceremony is very meaningful in a wedding. Tea is the symbol of purity, stability and fertility. The purity of tea represents the love is pure and noble; the stability of tea stands for faithful love; the fertility of tea represents the family will have many children.
What are the Chinese wedding tea ceremony steps? During a Chinese wedding tea ceremony, the groom should stand on the right and the bride should be on the left side. Their parents should sit on chairs and wait for the new couples’ kneel and tea serving. The order of serving tea is very important. It shows how the couple respect their seniority. The parents will be served first, then the grandparents, grand uncles and aunts, uncles and aunts, and then elder siblings. After the drinking of the tea, gifts for the bride and groom will be presented. Gifts are usually in forms of red envelopes with money or jewelry.

CALCIUM yang water
Calcium is an important component of a healthy diet and a mineral necessary for life. The National Osteoporosis Foundation says, “Calcium plays an important role in building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong and healthy later in life.” Approximately 99 percent of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones and teeth. Long-term calcium deficiency can lead to rickets and poor blood clotting and in case of a menopausal woman, it can lead to osteoporosis, in which the bone deteriorates and there is an increased risk of fractures. Many good vegetable sources of calcium exist, including seaweeds such as kelp, and seeds/nuts like almonds, hazelnuts, sesame, and pistachio. In addition, several foods and drinks, such as orange juice, soy milk, tofu, breakfast cereals, and breads are often fortified with calcium.

IRON

Iron has an abundance of roles in the human body. 65 to 75 percent of your body’s iron is in your blood in the form of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a protein in red blood cells that help transport oxygen to the tissues in your body. Myoglobin, is another protein that carries oxygen to your muscle cells that requires iron. To meet the recommendations for dietary iron, eat a variety of foods. Iron is not concentrated in many foods except organ meats such as liver and heart. Other foods with lower, yet substantial amounts of iron include most meats (especially red meats), dried beans and peas, green leafy vegetables and dried fruit. Whole-grain, enriched, and iron-fortified bread and cereal products also are good sources.

VITAMIN B12
yang fire
Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation. High vitamin B12 level in elderly individuals may protect against brain atrophy or shrinkage associated with Alzheimer’s disease and impaired cognitive function. Vitamin B12 deficiency can potentially cause severe and irreversible damage, especially to the brain and nervous system. At levels only slightly lower than normal, a range of symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and poor memory may be experienced. Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause symptoms of mania and psychosis. Vitamin B12 deficiency is most commonly caused by low intakes, but can also result from mal-absorption, certain intestinal disorders, low presence of binding proteins, and using of certain medications. Vitamin B12 is rare from plant sources, so vegetarians are most likely to suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. Infants are at a higher risk of vitamin B12 deficiency if they were born to vegetarian mothers.
