Volume 2 Issue 3
Congrats Grads!
Congratulations Class of 2016! You all have made it through this long stressful year and we are very proud of every one of you. Each of you have made your mark in the history in our club. Our club would not have accomplished what we were able to accomplish with out each of you and your leadership. This upcoming year is going to be difficult without your support. Every time I would begin to slack off or begin thinking negative, Denise or Karina would always be there to motivate me. They would make sure I did not give up and they were always able to put a smile on my face. This year was filled with all different types of emotions. We would all laugh together, cry together and treated each other like we were family. We spent unforgettable moments that I will never forget. Seniors: Thanks for the memories!

K-Family Pool Party
On Saturday, June 11 our Kiwanis Club Sponsor, Dr. English, decided to host an end of the year pool party. It was an amazing experience. We had several seniors that came out to their last Key Club Event ever! We had four of the Burleson Kiwanis there spending some quality time with us too. I felt like we were all a family just spending some time together. We had a board meeting prior to the celebration and Gabriel and Kevin just stopped by for the meeting and could not stay for the party because they had work . They saw the pool and the cool water and they could not resist jumping into the pool. The went in wearing their work clothes and left to work soaking wet. We all brought a little something and Mr. Castaneda made us burgers and dawgs. I had a wonderful time surrounded by amazing people. I wished it had lasted longer, but the day had to end.

Now a word from our Treasurer… Hey guys! This is Kalkidan Alemu, your 20162017 club treasurer! Wow, I can’t believe how fast this year has passed and that summer is already here. This year has been so memorable for our club. We were ranked number ten out of over 300 clubs in the mighty T-O district, received the distinguished website award, won 1st place for our PB&J Single Service Project, Vice President of the Year, Kiwanis Advisor of the Year, and 1st place for our club video. To make matters even better, five club members will be attending ICON for the very first time. Ivan, Kevin, and Gabriel will put up the entries against international competition. Our video and service project will be competing against clubs from China and England. Lastly, this year we got to cheer for our seniors as they crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. It was a time of mixed emotion, we were filled with joy for the success of our seniors, but also heartbroken to say goodbye. However, seniors you will always remain part of our family. So for now, we will only say, “see you soon”. For the wonderful key club members that remain, I want to thank you because we would not have experienced such success without your hard work. I want to remind everyone that service is not a talent or a skill, it is a way of life! So in all seasons, keep serving!
