J

unho é sinônimo de festa e alegria para o nordestino, em especial para o sertanejo, agora estou eu puxando a sardinha para o meu lado. Cheia de tradições, que vão da devoção aos santos às danças e comidas de milho, o São João transforma Pernambuco num imenso arraiá com muito forró. Preparamos um roteiro arretado que passa por Carpina, Gravatá, Bezerros, Caruaru e Arcoverde.

Outra paixão popular promete agitar o nosso calendário festivo. A Copa das Confederações aporta, em junho, em terras pernambucanas. Com um estádio novinho e muita hospitalidade, a Região Metropolitana recebe quem vem assistir aos jogos. Por isso, preparamos para vocês um guia com dicas que vão desde a gastronomia até os pontos imperdíveis numa visita rápida às cidades-irmãs Recife e Olinda.

E para quem tem tempo de esticar um pouquinho a viagem, um destino para se apaixonar: Bonito, no Agreste pernambucano. A natureza do lugar é um convite a relaxar e se aventurar por esportes pra lá de radicais.

Luciana Nunes June is synonym for celebration and joy to the people from the Northeast, especially for those from the Sertão region. Full of traditions, ranging from devotion to the saints to dances and foods made of corn, the São João turns Pernambuco into a huge party city at the unmistakable sound of forró. And as it could not be different, we have prepared a great roadmap that goes through Carpina, Gravatá, Bezerros, Caruaru and Arcoverde.

Another popular passion will shake our festive calendar. The Confederations Cup will take place in June in Pernambuco. With a brand new stadium and great hospitality, the Metropolitan Region of Recife hosts those who come to watch the games. And so, we set up for you a guide with tips ranging from gastronomy to the must-see spots in a quick visit to the sister cities Recife and Olinda.

And for those who has time to stretch a little the trip, a destination to fall in love: Bonito in the Pernambuco Agreste area. The nature of the place is an invitation to relax and to venture up there in extreme sports.

lém de simplificar a vida de quem quer conhecer as atrações da nossa terra, a revista Curta Pernambuco está levando um pedacinho do Estado para o Brasil.

No final de abril, os pernambuqueiros de plantão desembarcaram em São Paulo para representar Pernambuco na World Travel Marketing (WTM) Latin America. O evento deu espaço à primeira edição do Café Curta Pernambuco. O chef Alcindo Queiroz, do restaurante Patuá, em Olinda, assinou o cardápio das delícias regionais.

Iguarias pernambucanas como bolo de rolo, tapioca e bolo de noiva fizeram a alegria dos visitantes. Em maio, o Café do Curta fez sucesso na Equipotel Nordeste. Ao longo do ano, nosso chef vai levar as delícias de Pernambuco para muitos outros lugares.

I

n addition to simplifying the lives of those who want to know the attractions of our state, the magazine Curta Pernambuco is bringing a bit of the state to the country.

In late April the Curta Pernambuco team landed in Sao Paulo to represent the state at the World Travel Marketing (WTM) Latin America. The event made room to the first edition of the Curta Pernambuco Coffee. The chef Alcindo Queiroz, from the Restaurant Patuá in Olinda, signed the menu with regional delicacies. Pernambuco delicacies like bolo de rolo, tapioca and wedding cake delighted the visitors. In May, the Coffee was a success in the Equipotel Northeast. Throughout the year, our chef will bring the delights of Pernambuco to many other places. Keep an eye on our fanpage.

No wonder that Olinda is a City Heritage: the beauty of the old village protects art galleries, studios, from craft shops and several museums. There are dozens of options for various different tastes - from the popular to the exquisite, sacred art to contemporary. The specialist in folk art Fernando Augusto indicates two options for the visitor: the Museum of Space Mamulengo Tiridá and Sobrado 7.

ARQUITETURA A arquiteta Roberta Borsoi mora no Sítio Histórico de Olinda por opção.

Afinal, a região abriga construções de diferentes períodos da história da arquitetura, do colonial ao moderno. A grande riqueza de Olinda é agregar o conjunto de igrejas e casas de diferentes estilos com o mar e o verde da natureza.

Roberta indica que pelo menos três destinos devem aparecer no roteiro: o Convento de São Francisco, o Seminário de Olinda e o Mosteiro de São Bento.

The architect Roberta Borsoi lives in Olinda Historic Site by choice.

After all, the region houses buildings of different periods of the architecture history, from colonial to modern. The wealth of Olinda is to aggregate the set of churches and houses of different styles with the green of nature and the sea.

Roberta suggests that at least three destinations that should appear in the roadmap: the Convent of San Francisco, the Seminary of Olinda and São Bento Monastery.

E a mistura deu mais do que certo. aos poucos, introduziram novos hábitos à cultura pernambucana e hoje convivem harmonicamente. na capital do Estado, a divulgação da cultura nipônica fica por conta da Associação Cultural Japonesa do Recife, que reúne cerca de 140 famílias de descendentes que vivem por aqui./Petrolina and Bonito are the two main Japanese colonies in the state.

Formed around the 50s by immigrants, they brought forth eastern traditions. É na Rua do Bom Jesus que está situada a Sinagoga mais antiga das Américas, a Kahal Zur Israel, do século XVII. Atualmente, o espaço traz um resgate da história dos judeus em Pernambuco, pois funciona como um museu, o Centro Judaico de Pernambuco. Nos finais de semana, os frequentadores da Rua do Bom Jesus aproveitam a feira de artesanato denominada Domingo na Rua. Recife de antigamente Recife of the old times O Museu da Cidade do Recife, reaberto em novembro de 2012, abriga a exposição Recife – Década de 40. São 60 fotografias do acervo do museu de Alexandre Berzin, Mendel e Augusto Rodrigues. A mostra também conta com documentos, plantas, objetos e vídeos sobre as transformações na cidade na primeira metade do século XX./The Museum of the City of Recife reopened in November 2012; it houses the exhibition Recife - Decade 40, with 60 photographs of the museum of Alexander Berzin, Mendel and Augusto Rodrigues. The exhibition also features documents, plans, objects and videos about the transformations in the city in the first half of the twentieth century.

Doce tradição Sweet tradition Especialmente para esta edição, a Curta Pernambuco produziu duas delícias.

A primeira é a tradicional pamonha. Feita de maneira artesanal por Rosa Nunes, de Sertânia, o prato é item certo no São João dos pernambucanos. A outra é o pudim de milho, receita do chef Vinícius Sales. A sobremesa é a versão junina para a sobremesa mais simples e querida do Brasil, o pudim de leite. O toque regional fica por conta do principal ingrediente do São João./Especially for this edition, Curta Pernambuco has produced two delicacies. The first is the traditional canjica. Made in a traditional manner by Rosa Nunes from Sertânia, the dish is a must have during the São João in Pernambuco. The other is the corn pudding, recipe by the chef Vinicius Sales.

The dessert is a June version for the most simple and enjoyable dessert in Brazil, the milk pudding. The regional touch is São João’s main ingredient.

empre me disseram que o São João de Caruaru era uma experiência que todo nordestino que tem orgulho de sua cultura deveria experimentar. Então, em 2007, eu, que tinha passado tanto tempo fora do Estado e do País jogando futebol, resolvi conferir de perto. Posso falar que nunca me senti tão pernambucano. Foi muito bacana vivenciar toda a cultura e ver a preparação para O Melhor São João do Mundo acontecer na cidade que vive e respira o forró. Assim que cheguei, vi as fogueiras espalhadas ao longo das ruas, as pessoas organizando os arraiais e tudo aquilo que só Caruaru tem para oferecer.

A comida é um capítulo à parte. É tanta opção e tanta coisa boa, que, confesso, não imaginava que a culinária podia ser tão rica como a do meu querido Nordeste, em especial as comidas típicas do São João. No Pátio do Forró, passeei pela Vila do Forró e pude ver uma cidadezinha reproduzida ali, com direito a igreja e cadeia. Achei aquilo tudo arretado! Vi os shows do palco principal, todas aquelas atrações tocando forró. Nunca tinha visto tanta gente animada na vida! Os bares cheios, com bandas de forró pé-de-serra, todo mundo dançando. Gente de todo o Brasil.

Todo mundo deveria ir, pelo menos uma vez, para Caruaru no São João para curtir tudo o que a cidade tem. Eu fui e planejo voltar lá este ano.

Acredito que o São João de Caruaru deste ano tem tudo para ser um dos maiores, afinal muitas pessoas de outras cidades e outros países estarão no Estado para a Copa das Confederações. Assim, a festa, que já é incrível, com toda certeza será ainda maior. Vamos mostrar para o mundo a qualidade do nosso São João e o quanto o povo pernambucano é acolhedor.

I

was always told that São João celebrations in Caruaru were an experience that every person from the Northeast who is proud of their culture should try. Then in 2007, I had spent so much time out of the state and the country playing soccer that I decided to check closely. I can say that I never felt so pernambucano. It was very cool to experience all the culture and see the preparation for The Best São João in the World taking place in the city that lives and breathes the forró dance.

When I arrived, I saw the bonfires scattered along the streets, the people organizing the booths and everything that Caruaru has to offer.

The food is a separate chapter. Such a big choice and so good that I confess I have not imagined that cooking could be as rich as in my dear Northeast, especially the typical foods of São João. On The Patio Forró, I went through the Vila do Forró strolled and could see a village played there with church and jail. I thought it all cool! I saw shows in the main stage and all those attractions playing forró. I had never seen so many people excited in my life! The bars filled with forró pé-de-serra type of bands and everybody dancing. People from all over Brazil.

Everyone should go at least once to Caruaru during the São João celebrations to enjoy all that the city offers. I went and plan to return there this year. I believe São João in Caruaru this year has everything to be one of the biggest, as so many people from other cities and other countries will be in the state for the Confederations Cup. Thus, the party which is really awesome, surely will be even greater. Let’s show the world the quality of our São João and how the people from Pernambuco are welcoming.
