Business as Unusual Did you ever think we would be using the term Social Distancing? These are some unusual times, and we are all hearing terms like Social Distancing, Physical Distancing, and even Shelter In Place. But rest assured THIS TOO SHALL PASS. When Covid-19 started, we quickly learned that in times of uncertainty; communication is key. We are so proud that many of our owners stood up and took a lead role, not only with all of the agents within their offices, but also been a great resource to agents outside of EXIT Realty. We have also witnessed many of our own Realtors, within the Region, become more vocal in their community, as a leader and expert in their field. We want to thank all of you that chose to take this as an opportunity to pour optimism and factual information into people, and bring hope to them. These are difficult times, but having an optimistic mindset is key. It means you have hope and faith that you will come through a difficult situation, and it will be better on the other side. We appreciate each of you for having an optimistic mindset, because it is contagious, and will give others hope as well. We have watched other Real Estate companies go into this Covid-19 situation and react totally different by pulling back on their communication, laying off personnel, furloughing employees, changing profit sharing models, and cutting back in many other areas in order to try to keep a stock price up. EXIT Realty Corp International has done just the opposite. EXIT Realty has increased communication with live webinars, techinars and training at no cost to the agents. EXIT Realty also decided to provide a $50 Million dollar stimulus package to every individual within the company. The Stimulus Package is comprised of Technology Enhancements, Training seminars with International Trainers, and Benefits at no cost to the agents. This stimulus package is unprecedented in our industry. We are proud to be with a company that understands that when times become difficult you must focus on people and provide them with additional support, leadership, tools and technology so that they can continue to provide for themselves and their families. EXIT Realty has made bold steps and shown that we are a company that will always put people first, and as a privately held company we can do just that. Many other publicly held companies are at the mercy of the stockholders and must focus on trying to keep their stock at a certain price by reducing expenses and most times that results in cutting personnel. We are blessed to be with a company that will always put people first before a profit. We all understand that we are in unique times and it is not “Business as usual” but it is “Business Unusual.” This gives us a very unique opportunity to do business in a very different way. Virtual has become the new norm. You are equipped with all the tools and technology to do everything virtually. We are able to keep everyone safe with the new CDC guidelines and provide our sellers and buyers a great opportunity to purchase or sell a home while staying safe. Most Real Estate companies have not provided their agents with the leadership, communication, tools, technology or training on how to continue their business, so now is the time to rescue them and show them how EXIT Realty can change their life with what we offer. Focus on What You Can Do I.s this ever going to get better? When are circumstances going to change? What did I do to deserve this? These are all ineffective questions. They keep us in a holding pattern, like a plane circling in the air waiting for clearance at the airport, unable to land on a solution to whatever problem we might face. .This type of behavior can happen when we don’t want to be present in our current unpleasant reality. We can feel frustrated, exasperated, defeated and unable to see any light at the end of the tunnel. It can become too easy to get focused on the negativity of what we feel we can’t do and keep spinning the doom of it all in our mind. However, your awareness of this behavior is always the key to the beginning of change. Shifting our focus to what we can do, no matter how small of an effort or action, brings hope. When we repeat these small moves day after day, they create a momentum of accomplishment in the matters that we CAN control. Unlike ineffective questions, effective questions create positive inertia and help lift us up to see and welcome opportunities that either didn’t exist or we couldn’t see because of our mind-set. Try asking yourself questions such as these: >>> .What is one thing I can do today that will make a difference in the direction I want to go? >>> Who could I reach out to for good advice to help alleviate this problem? >>> Where do I most need leverage right now, and what is a cost-effective way to obtain it? .You’re full of potential, and opportunity waits for those who act. Let’s land the plane and get to your destination. Let’s focus on what it is that we CAN do right now and allow grace to peacefully guide us in our patience, faith and action.

IGNITE Your At Home Productivity As we all continue to buckle down and Social Distance due to this World-Wide Pandemic called Coronavirus (COVID-19), we each are working from our homes, full of distractions and temptations. Personally, I work from home most days when I am not on the road, and I too get distracted by things going on in my home, from the dog wanting to go outside to the interruptions from family not understanding fully that just because I am home doesn’t mean I am not working. But the most significant underlying question is, how can I make my home office the most productive space possible? As I embarked on this work from home journey over the last year, I have researched and reevaluated my home office space, and I wanted to give you some tips and strategies to keep on task and involved in your business while we are working from home.
Teal Tip #1 | Create Your Space for Maximum Productivity.
you can still create an effective home office space with Maximum Productivity in mind. First things first, find the quietest corner in your home. For me, this was in the corner of my bedroom. Do you like to have a light and bright space, or do you prefer to work in a cave? That will help you decide on your area. I love the location that I placed my home office. I have this great floor to ceiling window that overlooks a small garden in the front yard. Think about what’s outside that window, find something that’s not distracting, and provides a sense of peace. A comfy chair and some excellent music help set the mood for a productive workday.
Teal Tip #2 | Are You Comfortable? It is tough to be a productive person when you are not comfortable. Invest in a really good office chair. Thi’s is the best thing you can do for your body after long days at your desk.
How awesome would it be to have a super private office, with huge solid doors to shut out the outside world… For Teal Tip #3 | Stand Often. most of us, we don’t have that option in our home, but Even with a comfy office chair, you still need to stretch your legs often. Set a timer and every hour stand or walk around for 3 to 5 minutes. I combined two desks to make an L-Shaped desk in my office; one portion of it is a standing desk. This allows me to pivot to the standing desk every other hour and still stay productive. After chatting with some people, they cannot stand a standing desk (see what I did there…), but if you are going to work from home often, you may want to look into one.
Teal Tip #4 | Fearlessly Remove Clutter. Have you ever noticed how all the things somehow migrate to your home office? Learn to declutter this space often. Consistently purge piles of papers, drinking cups,
Teal Tip #5 | Have a Handy Distraction. Look for something to give your mind a break. I know later in this article I will say limit your distractions, but some disturbances are necessary… In my case, this is a timer with 5 minutes set to view TikTok videos and lavender therapy dough “Adult Play-Doh” (I received this as a gift from a friend and I have never looked back, for a very sensory-based person, it has essential oils for relaxation and gives me something to touch and relieve stress, Highly Recommend).
Teal Tip #6 | Clearly Defined Schedule. What time do you get ready for work? Are you “camera ready” by 9 am? Set yourself a clearly defined schedule. To be the most productive you need to get on a routine. For me it’s getting up at 6:00 am and jumping right in the shower, this gives me a good 15 minutes to wake fully up and get my mindset set. From there I move into my affirmations and gratitude journaling time for 20 minutes, on to breakfast and my morning motivation – a refreshing La Croix. Next Stop, sitting down in the home office. I start my office time off with checking emails from the night before, logging into my Asana platform to check upcoming tasks for the day (I highly recommend that you look into a task management tool like Asana or Trello, If you are like me I always have multiple task list laying around, Asana allows you to combine them into one location and take it with you digitally), and cruising and interacting on Social Media for a few minutes. That is just some insight on what my morning consists of, but know everyone’s schedule will be different but do have a Defined Schedule in place.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had a family member come in and just start talking while I am on a conference call. Setting a boundary with them is something that is essential to your productivity.
Teal Tip #8 | GET DRESSED. Have you gotten into the habit of getting right to work as soon as you roll out of bed? You can shower later, right? Do not do it. Get showered, Get dressed, Get productive. Just because you are working from home does not give you a free pass to dress like a teenager. Would you show up to a meeting like that? So why are you showing up to a Zoom meeting like that. Dressing like a true professional set your mindset into the work productivity zone. Of all the tips, this tip alone can be what defines your productivity for the day. So Seriously, put your pants on before you start your next Zoom call. Applying even one of these tips will help you be more productive and happy while working from home. Remember, every minute you are productive is an opportunity for success! Be Safe. Be Healthy. Be Productive.

Self-Imposed Stress On August 16, 2019 my husband was having his retirement ceremony as he prepared to retire from the United States Air Force. As a result of the many people who wanted to celebrate this special occasion with us, we had a house full of people and many more at hotels in the area. Needless to say, this was a stressful situation for me when it came to preparing for everyone’s arrival, plus planning a celebration party and a huge group kayaking event! I had to stop and remind myself several times what was REALLY important. It is easy for us to get overwhelmed with self-imposed stress on things that ultimately really don’t matter. The reality is that no one who was visiting would be closely inspecting the bathrooms or anywhere else, for that matter! They were there to celebrate, so keeping myself in check was a tremendous help. Here are examples of how each of the personality types can get stressed and what you can do about it: “D” Types: Once you decide how you want something to be done, you get upset if it doesn’t go that way. Remember not to make a big deal out of everything. Choose your battles! Ask yourself, “Is it really going to matter in 10 years?” If not, let it go! “I” Types: You get so busy having fun that you let those tasks pile up! Remember to do at least a few short-term tasks each day, then give yourself a little reward for getting things done! Also, set an alarm on your phone/watch to remind yourself what time you need to leave for a meeting or an appointment, so you’re not late! “S” Types: You get too caught up in other people’s lives and want to “fix” everything for them. Remember, it is not your job to make the world a better place for EVERYONE! By fixing everyone’s problems for them, you can actually be taking away their power to think for themselves. You are actually helping by NOT always helping! Remember, you need to save some time for yourself. “C” Types: Perfection isn’t necessary all the time, but you certainly get frazzled when things aren’t exactly right! The advice I gave to the “D” types can apply to you as well! Is it really going to matter in 10 years if it wasn’t perfect? Most of the time “good enough” is good enough, so choose your battles wisely. Studies show that C types actually die an average of seven years earlier than any other personality types because of your unreasonably high expectations and the health challenges these can cause, so cut yourself (and others) some slack! Linsey Lawson, REALTOR® has only been with EXIT Justice Realty since October but shows she fits right in with a heart that mimics that of the entire EXIT Realty Corp. International. Amid the COVID-19 struggles, Linsey wanted to focus on helping local businesses that might be hurting during this time. She met with two locally, familyowned businesses and provided baggies containing hand sanitizer for them to give out to each to-go or delivery order. The response on social media has been extremely positive, reaching thousands of views, while also providing some much-needed support to the businesses and community. “I wanted the focus to be on the local restaurants, who have always supported our kids at school and the ballpark, always giving donations, fundraising, and anything we have ever asked of them, Linsey stated. It’s a time we need to be there for one another, no matter how big or small.”

Just days before the influx of nationwide school closures, CDC guidelines, and community spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Krista Lee, REALTOR®, jumped in feet first to spearhead a massive effort to collect non-perishable food items in support of Feeding the Gulf Coast. An organization that has always been a lifesaver to members of the community is now in overdrive – and Krista has shown up for the challenge. To kick off the food drive, Krista coordinated with the food bank to deliver donation drums to two locations – EXIT Allstar Realty in Mobile and EXIT Allstar Gulf Coast Realty in Daphne. With the past success of similar food drives at EXIT Allstar, Krista knew that the donations would overflow as agents, business allies, and clients would open their hearts to give. And yet, Krista didn’t stop there. The thought of all the children who depended on schools for breakfast and lunch but would now be hungry weighed heavy on her heart. As the need increased at the food bank, so did Krista’s desire to do more – so with cardboard boxes and a lot of faith, she set off to recruit the help of area hospitals, professional businesses, and retailers. Among those who jumped in to help in a huge way – Walmart on Schillinger Road (Mobile). Her passion for giving what she can with what she has is a true testimony to the human spirit, and reminds us that there is always something we can do.

We are excited to announce that Sherry Pullens and Brandy Maples have just renewed their EXIT Southern Franchise Agreement for another 5 years. A Milk Crate in the Trunk Recently I had a fun flash-back conversation with a seasoned veteran like myself. We were talking about innovators which led us to sharing our personal influencers when we were younger. Some of those names you may not know, like J. Douglas Edwards, Earl Nightingale and Tommy Hopkins, but you may have heard of Zig Ziglar and Jim Rohn. We had fun sharing our common favorites. I was living in Southern California in my early years and even then, traffic was a huge problem. You could spend half your day on the 405 or the 101 trying to get to your next appointment. Periodically I would pull over, open my trunk and get out another cassette pack of motivational tapes for the rest of the drive. Yes, that is what we had before mobile devices. We had 8-track and cassette tape players in our dashboards, and we could make the daily choice to listen to country music or Jim Rohn or…hmm? My friend admitted that he had never gone to college, but felt he had a degree in life management skills from the thousands of hours he spent listening to those tapes, and I agreed. Those speakers would have events and would always stand in the back of the room and sell their books and tapes following their presentations. I was not so keen on the books back then, but I loved the tapes. So, to keep them organized in my trunk, I had a black milk crate full of tape boxes. I later discovered thousands of other people had the same silly system. After WWII, the GI Bill started people on a quest for self-improvement like no other time. The very first was Acres of Diamonds by Russell Conwell, then Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, followed by How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale, See You at the Top by Zig Ziglar and the work just kept piling into a mountain of life-changing offerings. Two things I will say about this: First, these works are as fresh and valuable today as when they first came out; and second, I think a younger mind today would be impacted even more than we were back then. Timeless wisdom and principles are there for the mere asking. Today I still read and listen to podcasts, but I do miss the depth and quality of these pioneering works. All these old works are available in their original form, just in new packaging. On one’s mobile device all these works combined would not come close to using all your memory space. No college? Some college? Side by side, I would put all the college courses you could take against reading and internalizing these masters. And I would put my money on and hire the latter. I was refreshed by the laughter my friend and I shared while reminiscing about our milk crates full of tapes, but more than anything, I want to encourage you to take in these classics. Put them in your phone and sit on the crate at your kids’ soccer game, listening through your ear buds: a PhD in life at your fingertips. Don’t go alone. Take a young person who has never heard this with you. Your life – and theirs – will be enriched.
