Call Booklet 18th National Session of EYP Sweden Lund 2022

March 10-13

Session theme We Rise By Lifting Others — Building Solidarity and Actionable Empathy In the fight against an indiscriminate virus that knows no borders, the acute need for enhanced cooperation and solidarity is evident. No nation can stand alone against the global challenges we face, nor can an individual alone bear the burdens we collectively share. This sentiment of solidarity echoes far beyond the unique circumstances of the late COVID-19 outbreak — it is the cornerstone of fair and inclusive development cooperation. At the 18th National Selection Session of EYP Sweden, we will harness the lessons of a global pandemic and heed the wake-up call for solidarity.

Integral to the life-saving response plans of governments and NGOs during the COVID-19 pandemic, we each shared the responsibility to protect and aid the most vulnerable individuals in our communities at the expense of our personal comforts and desires. As one of the three central principles powering the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, “Leave No One Behind” urges us to continually focus on the vulnerable and marginalised individuals in our societies, at both national and international levels. In practice, this core value calls for us to combat the discrimination and inequalities that disempower individuals and leave them behind.

At Lund 2022, young Europeans will be given a platform to reflect on their own lived experiences and anchor them to the collective experiences of many. We will look at global challenges through the lens of intersectionality and, most importantly, derive solutions that show consideration for those furthest behind.

President’s vision

President of NS Lund 2022 Lars Van Bourgognie (BE)

Hey there! My name is Lars and I am excited to, together with you and the rest of the team, facilitate the development of the academics
at this event. This document describes how I envision the session to be and to become, and I would love your input and support in order
to make this the EYP event that differentiates itself from business as usual!

“We Rise By Lifting Others – Building Solidarity and Actionable Empathy” to smoothen the transition from having been alone to being back together is what will drive our focus on wellbeing, the provision of a support framework, and fostering the creation of strong connections between all participants. As per usual, the aim is to ensure all elements of the event embody the core principles of this session theme.

I hope for the academic team of the session to work as a unit starting from the very beginning, which is why I am opting to refrain from outlining a full academic team vision. This way, I hope to add value to the session development process for those joining later on. I would like everyone on the team to start with a blank page, so as to strive for full empowerment by providing an optimal learning environment. Behind that blank page, participants can always find a cheat sheet for support, provided by anyone around with the knowledge, experience, or ideas to get those blank pages autonomously filled.

Lund’22 — 18th National Session of EYP Sweden

President’s vision In combination with a framework striving towards full empowerment,
it goes without saying that I envision an open session atmosphere with room for mistakes and a lack of hierarchical structures. Walls and barriers should not be broken down if they were not built in the first place!

I trust this rather vague approach provides you with insufficient structure
to simply follow mine, as I await the many ideas to jointly build our own structure. Leaders, being all officials at this session, are created by the people who chose them. As you indirectly choose me by applying to this session, I will also let you create me and vice versa. You lead me as I lead you.
If leadership were a one way street, it would be a fugazi!

Lund’22 — 18th National Session of EYP Sweden

Editress’ vision Dear friend,

Thank you for taking your time and showing an interest in reading the vision for the Media team.

Editress of NS Lund 2022 Darya Skorokhod (BY)

Below you’ll find the outline of my ideas and vision for the session. Together with you we will be further developing the media concept. If you are looking for a safe environment to strive and prosper, Lund is the place for you.

ACADEMICS/UNDERSTANDING

In Lund we will focus on interactive topic overviews which also apply to the pre-session work. I want to update the concept of Topic Overview booklet making it even more interactive and understandable for delegates. It can be
a complete session website which will be used by delegates before the session
to get to know EYP and session officials teams better, because usually they don’t even know what teams we have, why we need HOs, what is the difference between the Board of the session and the NC Board or who is presiding.

I see Lund as a place to implement.

MTM DEVELOPMENT

I envision Media team adding creative value to the event and impact session participants. That's why I'll make sure to give journalists a chance to be creative and implement all the ideas you have in mind.

Lund’22 — 18th National Session of EYP Sweden

Editress’ vision Besides, I want the Editorial team to provide journalists with the space to shape the session and implement their creative ideas, turning them into reality. I don't want to prioritize standards over creativity. I see Lund as a place to create.

INNOVATIONS

I don’t want to innovate for the sake of innovation but I feel like the concept
of an EYP session can be updated and Lund is a right place to start. I want to change the concept of both General and CJO team building and focus more
on getting to know each other and start building one big team of Lund.

I would like to assign MTMs to the committees starting from the pre-session work, so it will be easier to work on the interactive topics and get connected
to the chairs. I see Lund as a place for development.

WELL-BEING

As the Editress of the session, I will help the Media team members to not feel overwhelmed or overly controlled. It will be done by giving them some

free time and respecting their boundaries. I would also implement the idea
of individual meetings to talk to MTMs and know how they feel and if they want to change anything structure-wise. I'll make sure to find an individual approach towards each MTM in order to help them feel confident within and outside their team.

I see Lund as a place to be yourself.

Editress’ vision OUTPUT

Another important aspect of my vision is the variety of media output. I want to cover all session perspectives meaning that we will have projects dedicated to academics, session theme, fun, outside-eypworld, delegates and officials. It can be not necessarily video or photo projects, but issues, small media games during coffee breaks or something else (don’t want to limit your creativity here).

I see Lund as an example to follow.

INTERACTIVE MEDIA ROOM

The concept of a studio media room will be the solid representation of all the goals we have set such as creative learning and personal development. Just like working in an art studio, I would love to arrange a daily schedule for the media team that will include some additional activities during the day. These activities will be tailored to the needs of the team.

I believe the best way to learn something is by experiencing it. For this reason, we will be holding premier times for the daily outputs and projects. Everyday there will be a specific time slot in which we will get together as the team and review what has been done so far. While doing premier times, we will selfcriticize ourselves and have discussions about what can be improved. Later, it is

just a celebration and gratefulness for what we have done.

I see Lund Media team as a supporting and helping family.
