Call for Project Managers National Selection Process 2019/2020

1 European Youth Parliament Sweden

INTRODUCTION This fall, 2019, EYP Sweden will host four regional sessions spread out over four regions: north, east, west and south, and one national session in the spring of 2020. We now invite you to apply to this unique opportunity. We are looking for a set of project managers for each regional session, as well as for the national session, who are motivated, enthusiastic and knowledgable in the organisation of EYP Sweden. You should be up for a challenge in extensive organising, fundraising, leadership and coordination - and to be the architect of a conference involving a large amount of people. You will receive extensive training in project management, which means that previous experience in organising large-scale events is not mandatory. However, we will primarily be looking for individuals with previous experience with organising in some capacity. The deadline for the application is the 4th of March.

Information about the task As project manager you will be a vital part of EYP Sweden's primary operation, the National Selection Process (NSP). From the moment you are selected for the task, you will be committing to a period stretching all the way until the session takes place, and for an evaluation period taking place a couple of months after the session. You can choose to apply for one of our Regional Sessions, or our National Session. The preliminary dates for the sessions are:

7-10/11 2019 - 7th Northern Regional Session of EYP Sweden 14-17/11 2019 - 9th Eastern Regional Session of EYP Sweden 21-24/11 2019 - 8th Western Regional Session of EYP Sweden 28/11-1/12 2019 - 9th Southern Regional Session of EYP Sweden (The dates set are not necessarily attached to the region stated above, it can thus come to change depending on the project managers availability).

14-18/3 2019 - 16th National Session of EYP Sweden (The dates set for the National Session is flexible and dependent on project managers availability)

The national board of EYP Sweden will provide you with one online training and one physical training in fundraising, team management, leadership and organising, as well as a deeper insight into the workings of EYP Sweden. Further, we will provide continuous support from the National Board of EYP Sweden during the entire process of the task. You can apply as a single project manager, but we strongly encourage you to apply as a pair or a trio. If you choose to apply single, then we request you to probe the possibility of including core-organisers willing to participate from the start of the preparation process. If you choose to apply together with someone, please write a joint application. As in, do not send in two individual applications. Some of the commodities you will be tasked with (and trained for), are: - Arranging accommodation - Fundraising - Scheduling - Ensure nourishment and beverages - Selection of oicials - Finding venues - Acquiring training material - Inviting guests and speakers - Budgeting - Graphic profiling -

’’Project Managing in EYP Sweden is giving yourself a lifestyle full of personal development, friendships, challenges and curious meetings. In a way, it becomes your identity, your soul and your life. If you are now thinking about whether or not you should take on the role of Project Manager in EYP Sweden, our only tip is: do it! Honestly, the only negative aspect about it is having to come to terms with the fact that the project one day has to end.’’ Paul Stone & Alexander Dürr Project Managers 15th National Session of EYP Sweden

Who are we looking for, and what is expected? Our sessions are educational initiatives, and therefore previous experience in organising large-scale events is not required. Previous experience in organising at EYP events is, however, a requirement. You, the applicant, have excellent knowledge of EYP Sweden aims and values, and you are eager to help us spread them within a new generation. Moreover, you: • have a positive mindset; • aren’t afraid to tackle challenges; • open and keen to speak your mind; • take on responsibility with excitement; • dedicated to furthering the development of EYP Sweden. Moreover, by youth, for youth is the motto that defines our vision for your session. We are here to support you as project managers along the way, and aim to help you as much as possible. All participation fees of the school delegations will go directly to the session, and the Project Managers will have the opportunity to apply for major grants together. We strongly encourage all applicants to get in touch with a teacher at a school who will be willing to help you to, for example, find venues, to establish a partnership in this early stage, and to add their endorsement to your application. Applicants are required to participate in the two Project Manager Summits, one online and one physical, which dates will be decided upon later on accordingly to your availability. Apply before March 4. After the deadline you may be contacted by a member of the National Board for a phone interview. We look forward to reading your applications.

How do I apply? Below you will find a template to use for the application. It is important that you stick to the template, and answer all the questions as thoroughly as possible. Before applying, we will expect that you have read all the information outlined above. We also strongly encourage you to think about your genuine vision with this project, and answer all questions as outlined below with that as backbone. Please note that we are looking for a vision, and an outline of the project you which to organise. When the application has been written, please send it in a PDF form to: gustav.dahlquist@eup.se. All personal information will be deleted after the selection process is over. If selected, your personal information will be kept until the project is over. By applying, you agree to these terms. Again, the deadline for the application is the 4th of March 2019. 3 European Youth Parliament Sweden
