DAMEN’S BLUE OCEAN
The latest new build of the popular 55-metre Yacht Support hit the water at DAMEN’s yard in Antalya
amed Blue Ocean, this yacht is the eighth launch of the 55-metre YS 5009 (182 ft) design and will be available for immediate delivery.
The launch of Blue Ocean highlights the multipurpose role of Yacht Support vessels. She is the first Yacht Support built with a large multipurpose Main Deck hangar, which can be used for submersible and dive operations, or as a vehicle garage or workshop.
Like previous deliveries, Blue Ocean is configured for a blend of adventure and superyacht support functions, including a 50 square-metre Aft Adventure Centre/Dive Centre accessed via the Swim Platform.
The 12-tonne deck crane combined with 240 square metres of deck space is ideal for efficient lifting operations of large and heavy equipment like submersibles and large tenders up to 15 metres in length. In addition, Blue Ocean comes ready for stern A-frame installation.
Blue Ocean accommodates eight guests staying in four cabins, making her suitable for short breaks away from the mother yacht or overflow accommodation. She features a Sun Deck and a Main Deck lounge with panoramic views. The vessel reaches speeds above 20 knots with a crew of seven and extra accommodation for four staff, pilots, security or guides.
Yacht Support vessels are purpose built to carry and operate all the tenders, toys and dive equipment that owners want, without compromising luxury spaces on the mother yacht. To date 17 Yacht Support vessels from DAMEN’s Yacht Support range have been launched or are in build following the range’s first delivery in 2010.

A CRN MEGAYACHT
IMO Tier III is the International Maritime Organisation standard that enshrines the naval industry’s commitment to safeguarding the environment; CRN has attained certification right from its first pleasure vessel to be delivered in 2020.
As a result, and in accordance with the regulation, a certified reduction of 70% in harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in engine exhaust gases is now guaranteed for all CRN motor yachts. This reduction is mandatory for any pleasure yachts with a gross tonnage of more than 500 GT that are permitted to cruise in all geographical areas and whose keel was laid after January 2016.
The project was coordinated and completed by the team of engineers at the CRN Technical Office. Compliance was achieved by fitting the engine exhausts with the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) auxiliary system, which uses a chemical process to slash harmful emissions.
The new 62-metre CRN 137, launched last November, is therefore the first IMO TIER III–compliant megayacht built in Italy, to be followed by the other three fully custom CRN yachts currently under construction: the 62-metre CRN M/Y 138, 70-metre CRN M/Y 139 and 60-metre CRN M/Y 141.
Besides being compliant with the regulation, CRN’s environmentally friendly-solutions meet yacht owners’ increasing expectations about ecological safeguards.

SEA TRIAL SUCCESS
The recently launched tri-deck Majesty 120 has completed its first sea trial ahead of its delivery. During the first sea trial, the Majesty 120 successfully completed the testing of its MTU engines, Kohler generators and other fundamental equipment.
The stunning addition to the Superyacht Collection of Majesty Yachts will be heading to its next sea trial in the coming weeks for more thorough and extended testing. The Majesty 120’s new advanced electrical system, which replaces the traditional hydraulic system, will be put through its paces in a series of dock and sea trials. The engines and generator systems will also undergo extensive testing with the presence of the team from MTU, Kholer and class surveyors. The exterior design of the Majesty 120 features a dynamic exterior profile coupled with angular lines and contemporary styling. The shipyard’s inhouse design team is responsible for the exterior styling which perfectly follows the brand’s new DNA of Majesty Yachts- Superyacht Collection. Gulf Craft’s collaboration with the Cristiano Gatto Design Team on the Majesty 120 follows the successful cooperation on the Majesty 140 which won multiple awards in Europe and US. Onboard the Majesty 120, Gatto’s team delivered an interior design that is universally appealing as briefed by Gulf Craft and worked alongside the shipyard to ensure the end result brought that vision to life.

DAMEN’S COASTAL STARS
نماد موجن
Damen Shipyards has signed a contract with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications & Transport of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar for the supply of five inshore ferries to carry tourists visiting Pemba Island and others nearby in the Zanzibar Archipelago.
The contract is for three vessels of the Damen Ferry 804 design and two of the Damen Ferry 1204 design, together with a spare parts package for the first year of operation and on-site training in operating and maintaining the vessels. Eight metres and twelve metres in length respectively, they are new variants in Damen’s small ferry range, capable of carrying 30 and 70 people on benches on an open, self-draining deck with full length awnings. The hulls are welded aluminium. As part of the brief to deliver easy to maintain vessels, the propulsion systems are single waterjets powered by four-stroke, four-cylinder diesel engines with enclosed cooling systems giving an operational speed of around five knots for both types.
Intended to be capable of fulfilling duties additional to that of transporting tourists and their luggage, Damen has included benches and both types feature bow ramps to allow easy unloading / disembarkation directly on to the sand beaches that are common around the islands. This procedure is further facilitated by the waterjet propulsion systems that, with stainless steel pumps, are well suited for operations in water with high concentrations of sand and silt. The ferries are being built at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands, to international standards of both construction and safety. Delivery is scheduled for July 2020.

HORNS OF HOPE
The world’s maritime sector is standing in solidarity with communities around the world battling the coronavirus pandemic by joining Abu Dhabi Ports’ initiative “Horns of Hope”.
In a world-first campaign, all ships in harbours around the world have been sounding their horns in 15-second bursts each evening in recognition and support of the maritime, healthcare, and critical sector personnel who continue to work in mission-critical roles to address the impact of covid-19.
The initiative which was launched at the end of March received a welcome boost when both the International Maritime Organisation – the 174-member-state-strong United Nations specialised agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping – and the Arab Sea Ports Federation formally committed their members to the cause.
Port workers, mariners, equipment operators and administration staff are continuing to maintain the steady movement of cargo in the face of emergency. Their hard work and dedication help guarantee that supply lines remain open, ensuring that shelves remain stocked and hospitals secure needed medical supplies.
The Horns of Hope campaign expects to see vessels within the world’s port harbours signalling solidarity by sounding their horns each day at 6.30 for the remainder of the ongoing global battle against covid-19.

SAILORS: A JOURNEY INTO SANLORENZO’S SHIPYARDS
Sanlorenzo, one of the world’s leading producers of yachts and superyachts was set to present the Naviganti exhibition, ‘A journey into Sanlorenzo’s shipyards’ at Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery in line with the Dubai Boat Show. We take a closer look at their work…
HADAG ARTS
The exhibition was set to feature more than 30 black and white images by photographer Silvano Pupella, who uses his lens to give a visual tale of the harmony between craftsmanship and technology, that has over the last 60 years made Sanlorenzo absolute nautical excellence. The evocative photographic portfolio which was put together within the La Spezia shipyard, reveals how each Sanlorenzo superyacht is the result of a complex and innovative project. Each boat over 40 meters long, comes to life from the hull, forged in metal like a work of art. With the work of skilled local artisans who pay attention to the smallest details, each piece is greatly unique and special, thereby assuring the desired reaction from the owner of every yacht.
The photos of Silvano Pupella thus recount the work of these highly skilled artisans, whose masterful craftsmanship makes these sophisticated and elegant yachts what they are, as if they were being crafted in a Renaissance workshop. Silvano’s decisive black and white, introducing us to the initial production stages of the steel superyachts, is able to excite the hidden charm and the intrinsic beauty of the unfinished products. Images, documenting the various preparatory stages of the metal hulls, can perfectly reflect the atmosphere of Sanlorenzo, not only from a technological perspective however, emphasize the irreplaceable practicality.
Gustavo Vélez
Artist Gustavo Vélez was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1975. He started acquiring knowledge on the arts in his home town of Medellin, Colombia. He then moved to Italy and continued his studies in the Lorenzo de Medici Academy of Florence, Italy. He has exhibited his artworks throughout Asia, where the essence of his sculpture found a great admiration after several personal exhibitions and art fairs in Japanese cities such as Tokyo and Iwaki. In China, he exhibited at the Zhengzhou Art Museum in Guan Xiang and in Korea with a monumental installation at the Art sculpture park of Seoul. Gustavo Vélez’s sculptural process is a result of the figurative artist’s interpretation of life, abstracted from the reality of our world. Vélez transforms matter and materials into works that play between the figurative and the conceptual, between forms easily identifiable and others more abstract, full of movement, light, shadows and in search of the infinite. Entwining elegant lines, the thin, light sculptures depict Vélez’s particular way of creating tri-dimensional shapes. From every angle, their forms are seamless and dynamic lines and shapes change when light changes, giving the spectator an infinite and multifaceted view of the pieces.
Gustavo Vélez is like his works: young and full of energy, that waits only to find a form in his sculptures. He is nourished by a healthy enthusiasm for creating and by a strong passion for sculptures, which can be seen in his works, that seem to hardly be able to contain the unrestrainable creative fluidity. Vélez passes from the cubic presence, to almost just a modulated block of marble, to the slenderness of a cane. Skill, capacity, resoluteness, vision, all of this translated thanks to the hands of an artist, who insists in taking care of the form and of all of its details.
A NEW ERA: FERRETTI
The new Ferretti Yachts philosophy is here, and it has so much to offer to anyone looking for an unparalleled thrill. The traditional Italian luxury yacht brand, a global nautical leade r, is introducing a complete style revolution. Hadag explores…
Based on the Just Like Home philosophy, this new rebrand challenge will be taken on by Ferretti Yachts 500, expressing a life at sea that is the perfect combination between style and comfort. The revolution begins from the strategic 50-foot segment, but it will sweep through the entire range, including the fleet’s new flagship.
With a completely updated design, both projects are the result of the partnership between the Strategic Product Committee, the Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department, architect Filippo Salvetti for the exteriors and the design studio Ideaeitalia for the new interior concept. And it is precisely in the interiors that the souls of the new Ferretti Yachts models will be represented by two different moods. A classic line with warmer, more enveloping tones and another more contemporary one, with intense tones, both designed to suit the tastes of international customers.
The new Ferretti Yachts 500 project stands out due to the spaces designed to offer an enveloping sense of well-being, through carefully selected, high-quality furnishings with an Italian flair. Owners will be able to choose from two different layouts on the lower deck. The first features a spacious master cabin and a VIP cabin, both with their own bathrooms, in addition to a small laundry area. The other layout includes a master cabin, a VIP cabin and a double with two single beds, and two bathrooms with a separate shower.
A yacht inspired by an advanced vision of sailing, in which nautical adventure and the domestic realm fuse together in the comfort of volumes and features generally found on larger yachts, within a familial environment that makes guests feel right at home.
The new Ferretti Yachts 500 was set to make its official debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2020.
Ferretti Yachts is a brand of Ferretti Group, a world leader in the design, construction and sale of motor yachts and pleasure vessels, with a unique portfolio of prestigious and exclusive brands: Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN and Custom Line. Led by Chairman Tan Xuguang and Chief Executive Officer Alberto Galassi, the Ferretti Group can boast modern facilities located across Italy that combine the efficiency of industrial production with typical world-class Italian craftsmanship - the heritage of Italy’s centuries-old yachting tradition.

NEW DIMENSION IN DESIGN
A fresh chapter is about to begin in the Custom Line world: the new Navetta 30 yacht in the displacement line will be appearing at the first autumn boat shows for the season 2020- 2021. The future of the Navetta range has been outlined by the new super yacht thanks to an indepth design process that took the seaworthiness, comfort, safety and customisation for which Custom Line has always been renowned and transferred them into a product that is even more ground-breaking, especially in terms of its style and interior design.
With a length of 28.43 m (93 ft) and a beam of 7.3 m (24 ft), it is a product of the partnership between the Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee, headed by engineer Piero Ferrari, and its Engineering Department. The Navetta 30 is also the first Custom Line vessel to boast a combination of exterior design by architect Filippo Salvetti and interior design by architecture firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The classic, perfectly poised profile of the yacht places the emphasis on the way the lines stretch out horizontally, highlighting this aspect of the design so that the vertical connections between the decks almost go unnoticed.
In addition, for the first time the drop from the superstructure on the upper deck has been shortened near the glazed window of the Owner’s cabin, giving the yacht a more streamlined shape that is even racier and sportier. And that is not all: one of the most striking aspects of the new yacht is a gap between the hull and the superstructure, which has been created by raising the joints with the upper deck to form two clearly separate parts.
The exterior design features large glazed windows in the hull and superstructure, with deck heights of more than 2m and very spacious areas forward and aft. With finishes and furniture that match those insides, the outdoor spaces can be used not only for dining but also for relaxing and reflecting, thus providing unrivalled potential for people to get a little privacy and enjoy life on board. Great prominence has been given to the connections between inside and outside areas. The former has been opened up to the exterior as much as possible to offer broader, more panoramic views reaching out over the sea to the horizon.
This project breaks new ground in many significant ways, starting with the incredible volumes: its three decks are unprecedented for a yacht of this length. The 100% wide body configuration means that Owners and their guests have a full beam Owner’s suite and lounge on the main deck at their disposal, in addition to four VIP cabins and a crew area on the lower deck. There is a dining area and lounge on the upper deck, which provides access to the integrated bridge that is located further forward. The exceptionally large sun deck rounds off a line-up that is second to none.
To lay the foundations for it all, a brand-new hull has been created, with lines on the bottom that extend it forward. It is designed not only to host very large spaces but also to offer superb performance and minimise consumption. The innovative interior design scheme was developed in partnership with Citterio Viel. The firm has given traditional maritime style – from the concept to the colour palette – a contemporary twist. The classic design of the

curved lines on the furniture and window frames presents a modern outlook on nautical traditions, as does the use of teak. Its timeless allure is complemented by the vibrant “sporty chic” of carbon detailing, surfaces with quartz fibre combined with fibre glass to create customised textures, sophisticated lacquer and fabrics with ultramarine blue stripes.
The Custom Line Navetta 30 is ideal for travelling long distances with low fuel consumption and performance at the top of its class. It comes with twin MAN I6 800 mhp engines as standard. They give it a top speed of 14 knots and a transatlantic range of approximately 1,000 nautical miles at a fuel-efficient cruising speed of 10 knots (preliminary data). Two other twinengine options are also available.
Comfort and safety are top priorities for Custom Line, as underlined by the fact that the yacht falls within CE Class A and has volumes that have never been seen before in this segment of the market. This is thanks in part to unparalleled soundproofing based on targeted mathematical analysis of each and every source of noise on board, and the installation of a floating floor to reduce the transmission of sound from the engine room to the living areas, while also softening the sound of footsteps.
The Navetta 30 is under construction in the Super Yacht Yard in Ancona and it is due to make its official debut at the next Cannes Yachting Festival.

Ferrari have done themselves proud with the latest Portofino model.
hen one thinks of the most iconic sports car brands on the planet, Ferrari has to be at the forefront of one’s consideration. Ferrari began its quest for global domination in the 1940’s and achieved its first Formula One victory a few short years later at the British Grand Prix in 1951. One year later, it obtained its first Driver’s Championship. Today, the brand holds nearly every Formula One record in existence. It has also achieved great success in other racing arenas including the 24 Hour Le Mans and the World Sportscar Championships. When looking at their on-road collection, Ferrari have produced more of the most beautiful, powerful and technologically superior luxury sports cars than any other brand. When we were offered the opportunity to test drive the new 2020 Ferrari Portofino, compliments of the fantastic team at Ferrari Bahrain, we accepted without hesitation.
We at Hadag Magazine have been privileged to inspect some top-quality sports cars over the years, but we can honestly say that standing in front of the 2020 Portofino made us feel like children again, filled with awe and wonder. The exterior of this vehicle is breath-taking and it is easy to see that the aerodynamic development process was involved in every single aspect of its design. This aggressively styled car has a two-box fastback configuration complete with retractable hardtop. This is unprecedented in a coupé-convertible which once again shows Ferrari’s mould breaking approach to sports car design. The brand’s master craftsmen have managed to effortlessly blend the sporty character of this model with a sleek and elegant feel. This combined with the subtle interplay of concave and convex surfaces, results in a motor vehicle that is simply beautiful to look at. At the front end, the large central radiator grille flanked by two side air intakes, new headlights and enlarged bonnet vents all add to the Portofino’s powerful presence. At the sides, the flowing lines and curves highlight the flawless nature of this vehicle whilst emphasising its sturdy stance. At the rear, twin jet engine taillights and twin dual exhaust system add further class to an already exceptional design.
The carefully developed interior has been immaculately configured and as one would expect from a Ferrari, boasts only the very finest of materials, trimmings and finishes. The cabin space exudes a stylish compactness and is symmetrically arranged to ensure functionality. The 18-way electrical adjustable seats are heated, supportive and exceptionally comfortable. The multifunctional sports steering wheel feels perfectly placed which gives you an immediate sense of control. There is a decent amount of room on offer in both the front and back seats, a definite improvement on previous models, whilst the compact boot still allows enough space for a small bag or two.
The exterior of this vehicle is breath-taking and it is easy to see that the aerodynamic development process was involved in every single aspect of its design.
The infotainment system is operated through a 10.5-inch touchscreen located at the centre of the dashboard in easy reach of both the driver and front passenger. The Portofino’s HMI (HumanMachine-Interface) includes an instrument panel and dual TFT displays arranged around the rev counter. We found this system to be very userfriendly and efficient in nature, giving the driver easy access to a multitude of information, features and settings.
As with any sports car, the true test of its worth is in its on-road performance. The 2020 Portofino houses a 3.9-litre, twin turbo, V8 engine and believe us when we tell you, it sounds exactly like you would want your sports car to sound. This engine delivers a power output of 600 cv at 7500 rpm which translates to a top speed of 320 km/h. This enables this vehicle to rocket from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 10.8 seconds. With an engine this powerful, an extremely efficient braking system is required which the Portofino certainly has, allowing it to decelerate from 100 – 0 km/h over just 34 meters. We were blown away by how well this car stuck to the tarmac at high speeds as well as its effortless handing of corners. All-in-all we have to say that the new Portofino is one of the most enjoyable and impressive vehicles we have ever had the opportunity of test-driving.
We can not encourage you strongly enough to contact Ferrari Bahrain on +973 1773 4734 to book an unforgettable test-drive of your very own.

THE OVERSEAS COLLECTION
Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas collection has enriched its range with a new territory to explore. Hadag examines this sophisticated masterpiece…
The prestige of a precious metal case and bracelet is now complemented by the extreme elegance of an openworked movement that is also ultra-thin and houses a perpetual calendar, giving the timepiece a contemporary and horological classy look.
In this new gold-clad version, Vacheron Constantin highlights the expression of Haute Horlogerie values. While retaining its dynamic design, the aesthetic of the timepiece is transfigured by a sapphire dial inviting observers on a journey to the heart of the extremely thin 4.05 mm open-worked perpetual calendar movement.
TRANSCENDING COMPLEXITY
Much appreciated by collectors for its reliability, its extreme precision and its performance, self-winding Calibre 1120 QPSQ is now joining the Overseas collection in a new guise. Entirely open-worked, which is a feat in itself, it reveals its mechanical intricacies beneath a sapphire crystal. The transparent caseback also stages a fascinating watchmaking show starring the gear trains and the NAC-treated oscillating weight with its segment in 22K gold, which is also open-worked for the first time in the Overseas collection so as to highlight its stylised design shaped like a Maltese cross. Openworking (also called skeletonisation) is regarded by connoisseurs as a watchmaking complication in itself and is indeed a speciality during watchmaking training. This technique, which consists of finely openworking a mechanical movement by hollowing out its components yet without compromising their reliability, is an extremely complex undertaking: a quest for transparency coupled with highly sophisticated skills mastered by very few watchmaking artisans. Today, Vacheron Constantin is one of the rare Manufactures capable of openworking calibres as complex as perpetual calendars and ultra-thin movements. All components of the 1120 QPSQ calibre have been hollowed out, finished and decorated, so as to exalt the functional beauty of the mechanism.
ARTISANAL EXPERTISE
To fully match the style of Overseas, the movement has benefited from special finishing work, entirely performed by hand. Multiple skills have thus come into play so as to endow the mechanism with the soughtafter aesthetic perfection. Straight-graining the surfaces to give them a satin-brushed finish; bevelling straight lines and curves to make the create light effects; circular brushing, sunburst finishing, circular-graining and polishing to ensure varied reliefs: while the use of all these ancestral craftsmanship techniques has served to highlight the beauty of the components, an anthracite grey shade obtained by means of an NAC electrolytic treatment gives the mechanism a very modern face. The dial bears applied 18K 5N pink gold hour-markers, the Maltese cross emblem as well as day, date and monthcounter rings. This design ensures that the watch is perfectly legible while allowing the gaze to roam freely through the heart of the movement and admire its hand-crafted finishing.
PERSONALISATION FREEDOM
Like all models in the Overseas collection, this exceptional watch offers a modular touch via a simple and convenient bracelet/strap interchangeability system. Fitted with a gold bracelet whose satin-brushed half Maltese cross-shaped links underline the elegance of the timepiece, it also comes with two additional straps in blue alligator leather and blue rubber.

LUXURY WELLNESS AT HOME
Practicing social-distancing is a big part of a daily routine for all of us across the globe right now. To help us all through these unusual days, Anantara Spa experts from across the world offer their advice on how to practice self-care at home, and we’re sharing their wisdom with you.
Try to stay in a routine even while working from home or if you’re not able to spend a lot of time outside. Wake up at your usual time and use any saved commute time to get into a home fitness regime.
It’s also good to get into the habit of squeezing half a lemon into a glass of warm water and drink first thing in the morning – this helps to boost the immune system and is rich with vitamin C. Eat as much fresh fruit and vegetables as possible. Berries are known to have a lot of antioxidants, helping you fight colds and flus. A relaxing 20-minute warm bath before bed will calm the body, soul and mind.
For a fully restorative sleep, it is best to stop eating after lunch and then break this fast with breakfast. If you can, try to keep a window of 16 or 18 hours without eating over 24 hours. This is a form of intermittent fasting. Do not eat food before going to sleep, if you are hungry take a little sip of oil. Going to bed and falling asleep early is essential as the hours of sleep sustained before midnight count the most for reviving the whole immune system.
To wind down for sleep, establish an evening ritual before you go to bed. This can include meditating, practicing gratitude, praying, or slowing down your breath with Pranayama (breathing exercises).
To ensure that you sleep through the night, stop drinking around 5pm to 6pm, and drink just half a glass of water before bed to avoid waking in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Jump start your day by planning something you enjoy for when you wake up so that you wake up with a purpose.
3. Meditating from Dr. Eranga Kaushal Ayurveda Doctor, Anantara Kalutara Resort, Sri Lanka.
Meditation helps to calm the mind and centre your chakras. Promoting reduced blood pressure, better daily functioning, and improved focus, regular practice of mindful meditation at home can help the mind send the right messages to the body and act accordingly. It also helps to lower the stress levels, which helps boost your immune system.
We can recommend the Pranayama breathing meditation, also called breath control. Take a steady breath in through both nostrils. Inhale until you reach your lung capacity while maintaining a tall spine. Hold your breath for a second, then constrict some of the breath at the back of your throat, as if you were about to whisper a secret, and exhale slowly through both nostrils. The slow, calming rhythm brings natural rest to the mind and releases tension from the stressed-out parts of the body.
4. Follow a light meal plan from Dr. Gopal Govindasamy
Master of Wellness, Anantara Rasananda, Koh Phangan Villas,Thailand.
Naturopathic doctor and yoga expert Dr. Gopal Govindasamy, originally from India specializes in Ayurveda, wellness, and nutrition and lifestyle at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. He has been a leading wellness expert for over 16 years, and his record for relieving and correcting persistent physical problems has resulted in an international reputation as “Dr. Magic Hands”.
His top tips to maintain optimum wellness during self-isolation or lockdown include following a light meal plan with healthy foods, plenty of fluids, regular exercise, and maintaining a routine.
Eating light simple food is recommend due to lower levels of activity when staying inside a house or apartment almost all day as eating heaving foods will add too much pressure to cleansing system, which pulls down your immunity.
Stay hydrated, drinking between two and three litres of mineral water daily, room temperature or lukewarm water is best for the system and avoid carbonated beverages and energy drinks. Exercise. Keep your daily routine balanced with mild exercise, yoga or Tai-Chi for 45-60 minutes every day.
Stay home. Most important of all, stay at home and be healthy.
Stay up to date with regular at home tips from Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas from all corners of the world. They will be sharing bitesize video content and healthy living recommendations across social media channels using the hashtag #AnantaraEscapism.

MEDITERRANEAN SEASIDE PERFECTION
Sunset chasers looking for the perfect spot to take in the beau ty of dusk, Hadag has found the exact spot that you’ve been searching for. Set on the shores of the gorgeous Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort, with glittering views of the Dubai skyline lays a hidde n Mediterranean gem. Remembering your social distancing rules, grab a friend and sink your toes in th e sand..
s the sun sets over the Arabian Gulf, head over to this stunning location, kick off your sandals, sit back in one of their comfy chairs and start with a mocktail or cocktail in hand. The beautiful beachfront decor is simple with rustic hints, cosy warm tones and a spirited and welcoming ambience. With numerous seating options, guests can opt to dine indoors or on the decked terrace spilling out on to the white sandy beaches. It’s picturesque to say the least.
Combine the view with either lunch or dinner and you have the perfect spot for a relaxed dining experience. As expected, we’re spoilt for choice with what to order. We begin with the highly recommended and generously piled deep fried baby squid with a citrus chilli dip. Packed with flavour and plenty of crunch, we’re off to a great start. The manager also recommends gambas al ajilio shrimps, garlic, guajlio chili, and once we take a bite, we know why he speaks so highly of this dish. It’s delicious! We are huge fans or burrata, slightly different but equally tasty, here the burrata is accompanied with honey walnut pesto, radicchio, grilled pear and honey vinaigrette. An absolute must.
After a short break and a few stunning Instagram-worthy photos, we move to our mains where the signature turf grain-fed beef ribeye comes calling. Accompanied by chilli spiced fat chips, rocket salad, peppercorn jus –it’s a dish that’s made for true carnivores. While it may sound simple, be sure to try the seared salmon fillet with garden fresh vegetables, tomato reduction and braised baby fennel. It’s filled with rich Mediterranean flavours and the fish is cooked beautifully.
Dessert is indulgent and quite frankly what we came for! The blueberry cheesecakeblueberry compote, digestive biscuit and cream cheese is a huge hit at the table. Much like the culinary offering, the beverage selection has an array of perfectly priced mocktails and bespoke cocktails - we try the Calypso - it was everything we wanted it to be and more. A selection of premium beverages is also available from AED55.
Other Mediterranean dishes worth mentioning, and those that we would be back for, include the Atlantic mackerel escabeche with a Chardonnay broth, gooseberry chutney, garden vegetables and garlic chips. The vegan porcini ravioli, spinach salad, almond flakes, fried mushrooms and almond milk reduction is not just a dish made to please vegans but will also satisfy anyone with a penchant for earthy tastes and appreciation for good food.
Service at The Beach House is warm, accommodating and filled with great recommendations. These are just a few attributes that will keep the crowds coming back. Our advice, gather your friends, sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the waves whilst eating delicious Mediterranean fare at this hidden gem on The Palm Jumeirah.

EXTRAVAGANT EPICUREAN ICON
A symbol of French hospitality, the classic Parisian brasserie Fouquet’s has found the perfect home at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. With a breezy, waterfront setting and as things start to open up with precautionary measures in place, Hadag takes you inside for a look at true luxury…
true meeting of minds, Fouquet’s and Louvre Abu Dhabi represent the pinnacle of both cultural and culinary excellence. There are less than a handful of good French restaurants in the capital, and walking into Fouquet’s is the beginning of an experience that is here to change the game. Being the brand’s ninth opening – Fouquet’s has locations in Paris, Cannes, Toulouse, Marrakech, La Baule, Enghien-les-Bains, Courchevel and Montreux – the venue takes prime position in the heart of the museum – an ideal stop for a leisurely lunch or dinner after you’ve toured the masterpieces on display.
Fouquet’s Abu Dhabi offers a menu created in collaboration with French Michelin Star Chef, Pierre Gagnaire – a genius in the kitchen who needs no introduction. Testament to his unparalleled creativity and flair, the imaginative menu here features French classics injected with an inimitable Gagnaire twist. With spectacular flavours and flawless presentation, dishes remain faithful to the restaurant’s modern French heritage, with particular attention paid to sourcing only the finest ingredients.
A warm and friendly welcome from the team sets the tone for the afternoon. All the way from the reception desk to the servers and even the lovely restaurant manager, we are made to feel comfortable and laid-back in an atmosphere that drifts between upscale and casual just perfectly. Inside, avant-garde chandeliers float effortlessly above the elegant tables draped in crisp white linen and hugged by the brand’s signature red leather chairs. The atmosphere of old-fashioned, understated elegance is given a contemporary twist with gallery-white walls, a nod to Louvre Abu Dhabi’s magnificent design by French architect Jean Nouvel. Other walls are covered in black and white portraits of the celeb-world’s glitterati, from renowned Studio Harcourt. Silver napkin rings with celebrities’ names engraved immerse guests in a “red carpet” ambience. Colossal windows draw the eye outwards, to where the glistening Arabian Gulf kisses the horizon. The whole set up is classy, and tasteful, and we’re here for it!
To begin, our entrees are the epitome of French cuisine. The Crevettes Roses, avocado, pink grapefruit, egg mimosa is a beautiful homage to the popular juicy shrimps found on many French menus. In a surprising turn of taste buds, the most interesting aspect of this dish was the creamy avocado – its skin had been flamed and charred down – and it tasted delicious. The Duck Foie Gras Terrine with date chutney is the most generous helping of foie gras that we’ve ever been served. It’s rich, buttery and delicate – an ideal pâté spread on the crispy bread. The French delicacies are stepped up further as we come face to face with the escargots. The Burgundy Snails dressed in flavourful garlic butter are a true indicator of who the real gourmands are. For someone who hasn’t tried snails before, we couldn’t imagine our first foray with this classic creation in a better place than Fouquet’s. Put your mental hang-ups of slimy garden creatures aside, because here the snails are delicately chewy – similar to other
molluscs like clams and oysters – but without an unpleasant aftertaste. No doubt, this is thanks to the irresistible savouriness of the garlic butter sauce.
The mains are just as gorgeous in presentation and taste. Famously known as the dish that made Julia Child fall in love with French cuisine, we dive into the meticulously prepared Dover Sole Meunieré, cooked in lightly browned butter and zesty lemon with a hint of parsley. Traditionally, the sole meunière is a dish that highlights the simple flavours of fresh fish, butter, lemon and parsley. Fish is the centre of the dish, and at Fouquet’s it’s a quality fillet which we finish with zest. The Tartare Fouquet’s, like its fellow food companions, blows us away. The hand-chopped beef is mixed with tuna and avocado – super fresh, it’s the embodiment of a novel experience for the palate.
Dessert is a deeply delectable soiree. The muchanticipated Crêpes Suzette is prepared tableside and we certainly appreciate the interactive gesture, whilst the Mille-feuilles with praline and caramelised hazelnuts is a textural union of flaky puff pastry contrasting with crushed nuts and creamy mousse. A side of fresh berries rounds out a stunning sweet delight.
Fouquet’s is a gastronomy awakening for anyone looking to broaden their horizons on the food front. It’s for those who crave a taste of adventure – but, conveniently, without the flight ticket!
