The reader is drawn forward through the pages of history with a great building anticipation. Types, shadows, and prophecies point toward Him as the coming Messiah who will redeem His people. As the Old Testament closes, there is silence for 400 years, until suddenly, the silence is broken by a heavenly host and a baby’s cry. In this issue of our Ministry Magazine, we explore some of the prophecies surrounding the birth of Christ. We hope this will be an edifying and encouraging part of your holiday season as we celebrate the goodness of God. 2

Voices of Faith Radio Bible prophecy encourages “ Understanding in two unique ways. First, it serves as a
reminder that God controls history. When, you read from the pages of Scripture how He keeps His promises, your faith is strengthened… By reflecting on the fulfilled promises of the past, you can find great comfort as you look toward the future. Second, understanding God’s promises for the future provides a solid foundation to which you can anchor your hope – a sturdy shield with which you can deflect your doubts and fears about tomorrow… When you reflect on God’s plans and promises for you and for the world, you can face the future without fear.
”
– John MacArthur
you celebrate the holidays this year, “ As don’t let the story of the God-man get
buried under the presents and the wrapping paper. Make sure you declare the glory of the virgin-born Lord, Jesus Christ, the source of hope for all humanity and the true meaning of Christmas.
”
– Tony Evans
is the message of Christmas: Because “ This He loves us, God has come to redeem us—
to bring life and color back to our lives, to expel the darkness of our hearts and from our world. On a rescue mission designed by His Father before time began, Jesus silently slipped into our world, breathed our air, felt our pain, became acquainted with our sorrows, suffered and died for our sins... to show us the way out of our darkness and into His glorious light. This Christmas, may you know the warmth of the Savior’s love spreading over you as you never have before. May the beauty of the season remind you of His intense concern for every detail of your life and His great, sacrificial love for you.

FAMILIES
At Faith Radio, we strive to strengthen the family unit and provide spiritual encouragement with a Christ-centered focus. We recently heard from a couple who listens regularly to our broadcast. They view their marriage as a life-long adventure of growing together through every stage of life, and they use FamilyLife Today as a tool to strengthen their marriage. The couple shared, “We have learned valuable skills to help us weather difficult seasons. Our relationship has continued to flourish as we’ve tuned-in to Faith Radio for Biblical wisdom. This is a tremendous resource for all married couples, and we always enjoy hearing conversations that share reallife stories about how God is at work in your marriage.” As our ministry works to provide spiritual encouragement and Christ-centered direction for your family, we know this often is beneficial to helping you parent your children. A listener who utilizes Focus on the Family recently shared her story. “My husband and I had been walking through a hard season with our son. I struggled with how to discipline with love. The programs heard on Faith Radio have given me wisdom, encouragement, and practical tools to help me be a better parent. Consequently, it has also helped my son to thrive as our communication has greatly improved.”

We had an exciting and unconventional studio visit with Grammy Award winner, Laura Story, and her beautiful children, to hear about her new book “So Long Normal.” Laura said her new book states: “Not that normal is bad, but why should you or I settle for normal when we’ve been created for something far greater?”
CareNet of Chilton County hosted a tremendous event featuring nationally known speaker, Abby Johnson, who shared part of her story from her movie “Unplanned.” Billy Irvin was blessed to emcee the event. 6

Treachery TO
Triumph by Bob Crittenden, Director of Special Projects and host of The Meeting House
It seemed as if all was right with the world - Adam and Eve were in their new home in the Garden that God had prepared for them. They had not a care in the world, relishing in the presence of God and His new creation. But, then, the reality of sin and the temptation of a rebellious enemy set in. The bliss of God’s perfection turned into the brutality of the enemy’s perniciousness. 8
While God’s prized humans were expelled from His intended home, the story of restoration was only beginning. Throughout the pages of Scripture, we read about God’s desire and action to reconcile humanity to Himself. In the Old Testament, we see our Heavenly Father extending His love to fallen men and women and promising that a Messiah, a Redeemer, would be coming. Prophecies describe and point FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
to this Messiah. That series of prophecies began not long after the fall. In Genesis 3:15, God pronounced judgment on Satan, the serpent who deceived Adam and Eve, saying that, “He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel” (NKJV). In subsequent years, God would preserve Noah and his family from His judgment, and make a covenant with not only Noah, but Abraham, as well. As time passed, it was revealed that the Messiah would be born of the line of Judah, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, and be a descendant of David and even sit on his throne. In the 22nd Psalm, we read a narrative about the death of our Savior and gain a glimpse of His suffering in Isaiah 53. That prophet also tells us, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus would be born of a virgin. The words of Isaiah 61 were spoken dramatically by Jesus in Luke 4, as He FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
boldly introduced what His Father had called Him to do, including to proclaim liberty to the captive. In Micah, we learn that Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, while Hosea says He would come out of Egypt. The prophet Zechariah even foreshadowed that Jesus would come into Jerusalem riding on a donkey, as our Savior did in His triumphal entry. This year’s Faith Radio Advent Guide, “25: A Christmas Adventure,” is entitled “The Timeline to Transformation,” as we trace 25 different prophecies about Jesus. This can help us to recognize more about the salvation He has brought to us and to appreciate what He has done. We encourage you to allow God to inspire you as you take this Advent Guide and personally, or with your family or small group, follow this journey through the Scriptures that show us more about who Jesus is. 9

programmer’s spotlight Faith Radio programmers regularly present strong Biblical content for you on Faith Radio, but you may know of their strong commitment to local churches and the presentation of God’s Word in special events and initiatives: Focus on the Family (heard weekdays at 8:30 a.m. on Faith Radio), which has long demonstrated a commitment to the sanctity of human life, presented its 2021 “See Life” series, culminating with a Celebration of Life event in Dallas on August 28, featuring Focus President Jim Daly, Christian musical artist Matthew West, and speakers Toni Clarke, Amy Ford, and Nick Vujicic. The event ended with a live ultrasound of a pre-born child, as the 2019 event in Times Square did. A series of six videos, each highlighting a different element of the pro-life movement, garnered over six million views. The 2022 See Life campaign is scheduled to have an event in Atlanta. We are grateful for the legacies of Faith Radio programmers who have gone home to be with the Lord this year. In March of this year, evangelist Luis Palau died of lung cancer. He is heard on Reaching Your World, along with son, Andrew, on Faith Radio (weekdays at 3:30 a.m., 11:40 a.m., and 6:28 p.m.). Andrew is continuing to preach at special events sponsored by the Luis Palau Association, including an August event in Hermiston, Oregon, that saw over 6,200 people in attendance and an estimated 275 decisions for Christ. In August, Jimmy DeYoung passed away as a result of the coronavirus. He has been heard on Prophecy Today Saturdays from 12 noon-1:30 p.m., as well as a daily update Sunday-Friday at 11:55 a.m. and p.m. Family members have worked by his side for a number of years, and his sons, Jim Jr. and Rick, have been heard on the program, along with their guests. We are grateful for ministries that have continued to carry on, even after the death of their founders. This was certainly the case with Chuck Colson, the voice heard on Breakpoint weekdays at 11:25 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. John Stonestreet has provided leadership for the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. Additionally, the relevant Bible teaching of the late Adrian Rogers continues on Love Worth Finding, weeknights at 6:30 p.m.

MAKING PREPARATION Preparing Our Hearts to be Transformed
by Bob Crittenden, Director of Special Projects and Host of The Meeting House In this year’s Faith Radio Advent Guide, we are dealing with how God provided, through a series of prophecies, a timeline that indicated what He was doing to provide salvation for the world. We can celebrate and anticipate what He wants to do in our own hearts. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 3 that He is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (NKJV). We serve a great and mighty God, and we risk missing out on seeing Him at work if we are not in a right relationship with Him. We have to get our minds clear and our hearts right so we might experience him in His fullness. Throughout the Christmas season, The Meeting House will guide you through this year’s “Christmas Advent-ure” and provide corresponding devotional thoughts. There will also be numerous guests who will help us navigate the holiday and gain a greater sense of its meaning. As early as August of this year, I featured content that was related to the Christmas season. I spoke at the Fall 2021 Christian Product Expo near St. Louis, which offered a fun approach to the season. Jenn Gotzon Chandler, actor in and co-producer of last year’s movie release, The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland, discussed the concept of the film, which encompasses elements of one’s identity in Christ. Prolific children’s author Michelle Medlock Adams dropped by to discuss FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
her seasonal release, Dachshund Through the Snow. She also talked with me about her book, Puppy Dog Devotions: 75 Fun Fido Facts, Bible Truths, and More. There was plenty more great content from the August CPE Show, including a conversation with The Skit Guys, Eddie James and Tommy Woodard, who were the emcees for the event. Their friendship spans 30 years, and they shared with me about their book, Smells Like Bacon:The Skit Guys Guide to Lifelong Friendships. Christian musical artist Babbie Mason shared about her rich ministry in worship and writing. She devoted quite a bit of time to discussing some of her most familiar songs and previewed her October concert at First Baptist Church of Opelika. Other guests included Darryl and Tracy Strawberry, Lee Weeks of Decision Magazine, as well as Linda Evans Shepherd, Del Duduit, and more. I trust that you will enjoy a merry and meaningful Christmas season! 13
gifts in memory and in honor of... A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone at the time of death by recognizing that person’s Christian faith and testimony. Similarly, an honorarium is a tangible way of honoring a living person’s testimony. We are thankful for individuals listed below who choose to honor friends and loved ones through a gift that extends the message of Christ through Faith Radio’s ministry. Gifts made as of September 24, 2021.

REFLECT ON GOD’S LOVE by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations This season of Thanksgiving and Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on God’s amazing love for us. Christmas is love in action – when you love, you give. In fact, God started the giving tradition when He gave a gift of love wrapped in human flesh that was tied securely with His promises. Christmas is the celebration of the One who gave it all - the One who gave what we cannot earn...the One who didn’t give what we deserve. In fact, it’s a bit overwhelming to think that we were given something over 2000 years ago that cures the world’s troubles, pains, and worries. We should be sharing this Christmas gift with everyone! Jesus came to set us free from sin and death. Jesus came for you! Will you partner with Faith Radio this Thanksgiving and Christmas? Your much needed financial gifts to this ministry help tell the story of amazing love, the Light of the World given for us. If you have never had the opportunity to be our ministry partner, we encourage you to come alongside this ministry and give a Christmas gift that will change lives for Jesus Christ. Faith Radio is helping strengthen your community, and is sharing the powerful Christmas message all year long.
