POWER Jesus is Risen! What Comes Next? IN RESURRECTION: A MINISTRY MAGAZINE OF FAITH BROADCASTING, INC. Montgomery WLBF, Andalusia WSTF and Dothan WDYF Volume 40 Issue 2 APRIL-JULY 2023

The resurrection of Christ is a pivotal moment in history and an event that is at the heart of the Christian faith. It is so important that Paul says if Jesus was not resurrected our faith is useless! (1 Cor. 15:19)

Because of the resurrection, believers can have confidence that we have eternal life. Romans 8:11 assures us that

“if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”

Voices of Faith Radio

“The resurrection of Christ from the dead, next to the Crucifixion itself, is the most significant event in church history. It isn’t a peripheral issue; it’s foundational. It’s bedrock. It’s the bottom line.”

“Whatever may be, God can take your dead or dying scenario and call forth a resurrection. He can take what looks like a rotting situation and give it new life. He is ‘the resurrection and the life.’ (John 11:25-26)”

“Although we will never be perfect in this life, it’s God’s passionate desire to continually transform our hearts and lives to reflect the beauty, love and holiness of Jesus.”

“We want gain without pain; we want the resurrection without going through the grave; we want life without experiencing death; we want a crown without going by way of the Cross. But in God’s economy, the way up is down.”

“On the third day after Jesus’ own death, He came out of the grave to give the world a sign it cannot deny. For a man to predict His own death and resurrection was something only God could do.”

“Why do some people gravitate to a sentimental picture? Well, think about it: a sugar-coated Christ requires nothing from us—neither conviction nor commitment. Why? Because it’s an image that lacks truth and power. We have to try to change that picture. And the only way to do it is to think about the resurrection.”

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO SUPPORT FAITH RADIO

4 FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE

RON BECKHAM

We are spiritually nourished by feeding on the Word of God and doing His will. A faithful Faith Radio listener recently came by our studio to share how our ministry has helped his spiritual growth. Ron Beckham serves as a Chaplain in the River Region, and he listens to Faith Radio as he travels around with his work. “As I go and visit people in nursing homes and in their homes, I listen to Faith Radio to receive encouragement. As a Chaplain, I need encouragement so that I can share with others. I receive God’s encouragement daily when I listen to the preaching of the Word and to music that lifts me up.”

Our ministry is sharing God’s truth all day, every day so that others may receive His Word as life-giving and life-sustaining. We want you to drink deeply from His Word so that you will be spiritually nourished. Ron shared, “Thank you for ministering to the hearers and doers of the Word!” The Lord delights in you, and we want to help you create special times to be in God’s Word as you seek Him and meet with Him throughout your day.

Our Mission of strengthening the family unit with spiritual encouragement is one of the many reasons we invest and support marriage conferences. Among the best in the nation is “Weekend to Remember” from our ministry partner Family Life. We were blessed to see so many couples attend and enjoy this conference that has helped many couples over the decades with cultivating their marriage!

FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE 6

God calls us in the Great Commission to “go and tell.” We are thankful to be part of a number of mission conferences throughout the year. We were recently at a “Missions Market” at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, as well as a “Community Resource Exchange” at Frazer Church.

Faith Radio is much more than a radio station! Your faithful support allows us to be involved in community events, and when possible, lead in prayer. We are thankful for our listeners and Christian leaders who participate in events like prayer gatherings and prayer walks.

POWER IN RESURRECTION:

Jesus is Risen! What Comes Next?

On Easter Sunday, we celebrate our risen Lord. The resurrection of Jesus was the fulfillment of a promise, and He desires for us to be raised to new life. In Philippians, Paul writes:

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead…”

(Philippians 3:8-11, NKJV)

David Jeremiah has written: “Over and over again, we read that Jesus Christ has

given us the power to live a special life . . . we have the same power available to us to live that Christian life that God used to bring Jesus Christ out of the grave.”

That resurrection power is expressed in at least four areas:

POWER TO PRACTICE. We need the strength of the Lord in order to live a life that pleases Him. It cannot be done by human capability. If we have been born again, we have the power of the Holy Spirit available to us to enable us to walk in His ways.

POWER TO PERSEVERE. The Bible instructs us that the trying of our faith produces patience in and through us. When we encounter adversity, we can rely on that resurrection power in order to withstand the struggles we face and to learn and grow from them.

FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE 8

POWER TO PRAISE. The Lord invites us into His presence. Because Jesus is risen, we have been raised to new life. That means we can stand before a holy God, not cowering in fear but confident in faith, able to bring the sacrifice of praise before Him, which exalts the Lord and brings joy to our hearts.

POWER TO PROCLAIM. Jesus taught His disciples to go into the world and to proclaim the gospel. We have His instruction to go. Go where? Wherever the Spirit leads us. Proclaim what? The good news of salvation, relating what Jesus has done in our lives and what He can do in the lives of others.

That power - the power of Christ’s resurrection - comes through a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Jeff Schreve has written, “Jesus didn’t die for a faceless humanity, He died for you (Galatians 2:20). He rose again for you. He wants you to know Him, not just know about Him. You see, it must be personal in order for His death and resurrection to be effectual in your life.”

If you desire to have the resurrection power that comes through a relationship with Christ, then today is the day of salvation!

HOW CAN YOU KNOW CHRIST AND EXPERIENCE HIS POWER? YOU CAN HAVE PEACE WITH GOD.

The PeaceWithGod.net website, a ministry of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, which can be accessed through FaithRadio.org, provides steps in order to experience a relationship with God.

Here is how you can accept Christ into your life:

• Admit your need. (I am a sinner)

• Be willing to turn from your sins. (Repent)

• Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. (Be saved by faith)

• Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive him as Lord and Savior)

The website offers this suggested prayer:

“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

RAISED TO SERVE

Christians are Empowered to Testify to God’s Greatness

Jesus is risen from the dead, and He has assembled a tremendous number of believers around the world to be His representatives, empowering them by His Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8, we can read that Jesus said:

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (NKJV)

Faith Radio has the potential to reach our on-air listening area and online audience with that message that invites people to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who will change our lives and equip us for His service.

It is a delight on The Meeting House to feature guests who have experienced that power and are being used to communicate His truth.

Renee Marini recently shared her story with me at the Winter 2023 Christian Product Expo in Columbus, Georgia. Renee and her husband have worked in the arena of medical missions in Africa and have seen God use them to bring healing to the suffering. Her book title is quite descriptive of people who have allowed God to take control

of their lives: A Life of Significance: Ordinary People Fulfilling the Extraordinary Call of God.

I also spoke with Laura Acuna and Tom Donnan. Laura has ministered to women who have been struggling with diet-related issues, encouraging them to experience freedom in Christ and His sufficiency. Tom, who almost died due to a severe heart attack, has recognized God’s purpose and has written on topics related to revival.

It is my hope that stories of transformation that you hear on The Meeting House can motivate you to allow God to use you to accomplish His purposes through your life.

God’s Great Outdoors Unveils New Host

For many years, the ministry of God’s Great Outdoors, under the direction of Gerry Caillouet, has emphasized using the outdoors as a ministry tool to lead people to Christ. Since Gerry’s death in November, the Board of Directors for the ministry sought the Lord about 1) whether or not the ministry should continue and 2) who the host should be.

The answer to the first question was “yes,” and God confirmed that decision by bringing Dean Hulce into the role of host starting in January. Dean is a seasoned outdoorsman and led High Impact Outdoors Ministries before taking the helm at GGO. He is the author of several books, including Trophies of Grace and Deer Stand Devotions. He brings a fresh perspective to outdoor ministry and we welcome him to the Faith Radio family of programmers. You can hear God’s Great OutdoorsTrail to Adventure Saturday mornings at 8:00.

National Prayer Meeting at Museum of the Bible

On February 1, a special prayer event called the National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance occurred at Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC. Well Versed, the ministry co-founded by Jim Garlow of The Garlow Perspective, which is heard on Faith Radio, was one of the sponsors of the event. Garlow hosted the gathering, along with Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, who is heard on the Stand on the Word devotional and Washington Watch Weekly.

Other Faith Radio programmers involved in the event were Anne Graham Lotz (Living in the Light) and Carter Conlon (It’s Time to Pray). Leaders from Christian ministries, as well as governmental leaders, led in prayer during the live-streamed event.

The event was described in this way by Well Versed: “It is what the Bible calls a ‘solemn assembly,’ a time of repenting personally, repenting for the sin of the church and for the sins of our nation.”

Jesus Revolution Film Debuts

The film, Jesus Revolution, which tells the story of a very special time in the spiritual history of our nation, debuted in theaters nationwide on February 24. The movie opened on over 2400 screens and the box office figures for the first week were impressive: initial estimates were over $15.5 million, including prerelease showings. This was over double what was projected. The film earned an A+ CinemaScore rating, the fourth for director Jon Erwin, which is a record. Box Office Mojo cited final stats for the weekend at just under $15.9M.

The film depicts the leaders and events surrounding the “Jesus Movement,” which was a spiritual awakening that started in California in the 1970’s through which scores of young people accepted Jesus as their Savior. Two of the catalysts of this movement, Chuck Smith and Lonnie Frisbee, are portrayed. Among those who were saved during this pivotal time period were Greg and Cathe Laurie, and their stories are interwoven in the film, as well.

gifts in memory and in honor of...

A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone at the time of death by recognizing that person’s Christian faith and testimony. Similarly, an honorarium is a tangible way of honoring a living person’s testimony. We are thankful for individuals listed below who choose to honor friends and loved ones through a gift that extends the message of Christ through Faith Radio’s ministry.

ARE YOU PRAISING?

As we enter into this Easter season, do you have praise constantly on your lips? The Bible tells us in Psalm 145:3, “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.” Our God is honorable, accountable, and favorable. His grace is remarkable. His mercy is immeasurable. Our God’s strength is impenetrable. He is unsearchable yet knowable. He is indescribable yet personal. The humble Son of God became the perfect sacrifice for you and me. He willingly stood in our place and lovingly endured the grave. He battled the enemy and on the third day rose in victory. He is beyond comprehension, and our Savior is worthy of our praise! Will you partner with us this Easter? Your financial gifts to this ministry become tools we use to point to the truth, the Word, our Risen King, and they become a tangible way to praise the name of the Lord!
