he arrival of Little League baseball and pollen are two annual indicators that Spring has sprung in the South. Spring is when we see reminders in nature that God indeed makes all things new. It is also a time on the Church calendar when believers celebrate the Resurrection and the new life we have in Christ. It is important to remember that the new life we have in Christ is not an end, but a beginning. We are saved to something, and that something is service. Matthew 20:28 tells us that “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,” and we are to follow the example of Christ by humbly serving those around us. Faith Radio provides biblical programming throughout the year that inspires believers to walk a life of full obedience to Christ, including in the area of service. This season, as you reflect on the new life you have in Christ, look for ways to follow His example by serving those around you.

You always bring us positive broadcasting to keep us up and going and strengthen our faith in GOD. I am really glad that I support such a BLESSED movement of evangelism.”- Ariton, AL “I am excited to donate my Christmas bonus to such a great ministry!”- Andalusia, AL “I discovered your radio station by chance, but I know that God works in mysterious ways. I love to listen to your station while I am on the road. My son blessed me with an and now I can get your station in my home!”- Chipley, FL “It’s hard to describe what your station and prayers have meant to me these months after my husband’s passing. Thanks to all your fine broadcasting members (music, ministers, general programming), I have been able to stay afloat. Your messages have taken me out of my solitude and given me strength to reach out after my loss. You have brought me ‘happy’ tears to know I am not alone.” - Union Springs, AL

PROGRAMMER SPOTLIGHTS “Serving God, valuable as that might be, is no substitute for knowing Him and communicating with Him. Real service flows out of relationship, not obligation.” - Kay Arthur “God doesn’t want you serving Him only because you are supposed to; He wants you serving Him because you love him.” - Tony Evans “The next time you give to God, look first at what is in your heart before counting what is in your hand.” - David Jeremiah “Church was never intended to be a place where we serve God to the exclusion of meeting with Him.” - James MacDonald

by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations

Faith Radio is here to help equip and encourage you to serve the Lord. We recently spoke with a faithful listener in Bonifay, Florida, who shared that our ministry has changed her life and her listening habits. Beverly Helms recently said,

Beverly Helms uses her gifts and serves through prison ministry with 24:7 Ministry to Women.

“Faith Radio encourages me daily to focus on serving Christ by serving others. He blesses me as I teach Celebrate Recovery classes at the Holmes County jail and assist with Bible Study for the ladies at this jail and the Washington County jail.” Beverly uses her gifts to serve the Lord, and He has given her a heart for prison ministry. She has been so inspired by serving that she helped form a ministry called 24:7 Ministry to Women. This ministry is based on Jeremiah 24:7 and provides residential treatment for women who have been previously incarcerated or chemically dependent, but who are receptive to transformation and regeneration by Jesus Christ. Beverly shared, “Faith Radio is a spiritual vitamin that inspires, encourages, challenges and assists me in serving Him by serving others.” “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” – Jeremiah 24:7 Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2018

faces....................

Faith Radio loves to be involved in Christian events throughout the community. We have been blessed to plan and pray with a group of pastors for a special Easter worship event, Awaken, for the River Region.

Billy Irvin enjoyed sharing about prioritizing the Lord at the Men’s Breakfast in Andalusia at Southside Baptist Church.

The FCA Christmas Prayer Breakfast is a great Faith Radio tradition and another way we help other ministries. This year we enjoyed the challenge from speaker Chris Reis.

We strive to keep our listeners informed of the Christian concerts happening in our listening area as Christian music is an important ministry tool. We had the privilege to talk with two artists who were sharing Christ in our community recently, Meredith Andrews and Shelley E. Johnson. 6

Our listening area received a beautiful blanket of white snow at the beginning of the year! In God’s provision, our broadcast did not receive any complications from the ice and snow, and we were able to stay on the air to share His truth even during the area shutdowns.

We participate in the area Toy Drive each year, which blesses many local families. Baptist Health CEO Russ Tyner shared with us about Baptist Health’s support of this great cause.

The Live Nativity has become a great tradition in the River Region. A large volunteer team is required to help make this special event a success, and we are blessed to be a part of it! Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2018

he time had come to put aside everything he thought he understood in order to seek the truth. The shocking news that his wife, Leslie, had become a Christian shook him to his core and threatened the very foundations of the personal worldview he had cultivated. But it was Leslie’s challenge to her husband, a proud lawyer and reporter, to search for himself the claims of Christianity that set him on a course that would change his life and result in a book that would introduce many to the faith. The man was Lee Strobel and the book was The Case for Christ. Strobel says that the linchpin in his coming to Christ while investigating Christianity’s claims was the resurrection. Strobel’s investigation led him to conclude what Christians for millennia have known and celebrated – that the resurrection occurred – it is true. Indeed, it must be true. As the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” If the resurrection is not true, then our faith is meaningless. We are dead in our sins. So, the truth of the resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith. That is where we begin at Faith Radio. Jesus is who He says He is, and He did what He said He did. He came, He lived, He died, and He resurrected. At Faith Radio, we carefully partner with programmers who teach, promote, and celebrate these foundational truths of the Christian faith. Our programmers

Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2018

encourage listeners who are not yet believers to seek the truth and the claims of Jesus. Our programmers challenge believers to follow Christ in living out their faith in humble service to others. Matthew 20:28 reminds us that “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” We become like Jesus when we serve as He served. Rick Warren, the host of Daily Hope, once said, “service is the pathway to real significance.” While our programmers encourage Christ-like service among our listening believers, Faith Radio presents listeners with service opportunities in our listening area. The partnerships we have with area ministries provide followers of Christ with an abundance of service opportunities both inside and outside the church. Faith Radio programmer, Charles Stanley, said, “Opportunities for service abound, and you will be surprised that when you seek God’s direction, a place of suitable service will emerge where you can express your love through service.” Our faith flourishes from the Jesus of the resurrection. Therefore, truth compels us to demonstrate the validity of that faith through service to people. Sometimes we need to be challenged to be the disciple Jesus calls us to be. Other times, we just need to be encouraged. As you listen, allow Faith Radio to both challenge and encourage you.

PROGRAMMER SPOTLIGHT by Kelly Treadwell, host of FaithSongs Faith Radio is excited to welcome well-known pastor and author Rick Warren to our daily schedule. Best known for his best-selling work, The Purpose Driven Life, Warren hosts a half-hour Bible teaching program, Daily Hope with Rick Warren, that will be featured weekdays on Faith Radio at 2:30 p.m. Warren’s aim with this radio and broadcast ministry is for listeners to learn the Word, love the Word, and live the Word. It is an essential element of what he calls “The 2020 Vision,” which is a bold evangelistic initiative to reach the remaining 2,900 unreached people groups in the world with the Gospel and a church by the year 2020. Warren also desires to bring a message of hope to the hopeless through the program and to help push back against the erosion of religious liberty in America, which he believes may be the civil rights issue of the next decade. Rick Warren has a record of being an innovative influencer in church life and a powerful communicator on some of the most challenging spiritual and social issues of our time. Daily Hope is just another ministry expression of his heart to bring the whole gospel to the whole world, which is a vision we at Faith Radio share.

We hope you will tune-in weekdays at 2:30 p.m. to hear Warren bring a half-hour of hope-filled, Gospel-saturated, programming. We are blessed and excited to welcome Rick Warren to the Faith Radio family.

WELCOME PASTOR RICK WARREN TO FAITH RADIO! “DAILY HOPE” Weekdays at 2:30 p.m.

The Meeting House Sharing the Hope of the Resurrection and Equipping Christian Communicators by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House Faith Radio is pleased to be a member of National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), and each year, NRB has its annual International Christian Media Convention. This year marked NRB’s 75th Anniversary, and conventiongoers at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville had the opportunity to hear from many high-profile Christian leaders. Many Faith Radio programmers were on hand to inspire attendees. Faith Radio’s newest programmer, Rick Warren of Daily Hope, spoke at the opening session. Prior to that, Andrew Palau of Reaching Your World accepted a Hall of Fame Award from NRB on behalf of his father, evangelist Luis Palau. Andrew Palau, heard on Reaching Other voices from Faith Your World, shared about aspects of Radio who spoke at the the ministry which he joined with convention included Kay his father, Luis Palau. Arthur (Precepts for Life) and David Jeremiah (Turning Point), who came by the Faith Radio/Meeting House broadcast center in the exhibit hall for interviews. We were honored to greet other programmers and musicians who bring hope to our listeners every day. Interviews included programmers Tony Evans (The Alternative), John Fuller (Focus on the Family), and Bob Lepine (FamilyLife Today) and musical artists Larnelle Harris and Nicole C. Mullen. I desire for listeners of The Meeting House to be inspired by hearing how God is working through the different ministries with whom we partner. By attending the NRB Convention, members of our team had the opportunity to speak with our programmers face-to-face and be equipped to serve the Lord and serve you more effectively. Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2018

Kay Arthur of Precepts for Life discussed the significance of the nation of Israel, shared about new resources from the ministry, and reflected on her husband’s death last year.

Christian musical artist Nicole C. Mullen (Redeemer, Call on Jesus) reflected on God’s work in her life and shared about her latest album project, Like Never Before.

FamilyLife Today co-host Bob Lepine shared a new ministry initiative, The Art of Parenting, and a feature film to kick it off, Like Arrows, starring Alex Kendrick.

Define Your Life by Serving and Giving by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations

The Bible tells us in Matthew 20:28 that “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” The verbs “to serve” and “to give” are the heart of the Christian life. Jesus wants us to look like Him, and we look most like Him when we are serving and giving. Faith Radio is here to help transform you into Jesus’ image through our ministry programs and worship music. A faithful listener recently shared, “Thank you for the ways you serve the community, and help grow my faith every day.” Did you know that you can serve the Lord and others by contributing financially to the work God is doing through this ministry? When you give to Faith Radio, you are honoring the Lord and also helping build His Kingdom by building up believers. The Lord has provided Faith Radio with serving people who serve and give to help meet the needs of our ministry…but we always need more donors so that our ministry can do more for the Kingdom! Would you consider serving alongside us by giving a gift to the Lord through Faith Radio?
