APRIL-JULY 2019

any in our world are asking who they can trust. Whether it is for news, religion, relationships, or even the weather, we all want a source we can trust. Often, we deem a source trustworthy because of their past conduct, because they have been right in the past or have done what they said they would do. We also deem a source trustworthy when it is consistently true. Those who follow Christ know that He is our ultimate object of trust. He is worthy of our trust because He is truth and all that He says and does is true. He also can be trusted because He has consistently done what He said He would do. During the Easter season, we celebrate Jesus rising from the grave just as He said He would. Faith Radio is a trusted source for you. For 35 years, we have consistently broadcast biblically accurate, Christhonoring programming to listeners from here to the Florida coast and throughout the world. We are serious about our commitment to broadcasting truth and hope you will turn to us as a source that is trusted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2019

by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations

Christian Radio has been an important part of the Peterson family for many years. Laurie Peterson is a faithful and dedicated listener, and we are delighted to have her serve on our Board of Directors at Faith Radio. Laurie shared, “Faith Radio is a constant source of encouragement and a source of reliable information, all from a Biblical perspective. And it’s free!” Laurie and her family reside in Montgomery, and she discovered Faith Radio many years ago. “I grew up in the Air Force and every time we moved, one of the first things we would do is flip through the local radio stations until we found a Christian station. I’ve lived here longer than anywhere else I’ve ever lived, so I’ve been blessed by Faith Radio for a long time now,” Laurie shared. Laurie and her husband, Shawn, also Shawn and Laurie Peterson with their children David, support the work of Jonathan, Timothy, and Elizabeth this ministry financially. Laurie said, “When you find something of quality that is bringing people closer to the Lord, or introducing them to Jesus for the first time, you need to invest in that ministry. Radio is one of the best ways to reach a lot of people because it is always available.” We are thankful for the Peterson family and the ways they serve the Lord through this ministry! This great volunteer team works year round to bring the Live Nativity for two nights each December and bless hundreds of families with the true meaning and feel of Christmas.

We are thankful for the many opportunities we are provided to speak and share God’s love at banquets, church programs, civic organizations, and community sporting events.

The FCA is pouring God’s truth into student athletes, and we are always blessed to be part of their annual prayer breakfast and share with our listeners about their ministry. 6

Awaken is a community wide worship opportunity for Christians to sing, pray, and encourage each other. This team enjoyed praying and planning for this event scheduled for April 7.

During a live broadcast from the streets in downtown Montgomery, we were shocked when Chris Tomlin walked up and shared about his ministry work!

We enjoy studio visits, particularly when churches are ministering to the community with special events! Frazer’s Brandon Dasinger and Brandi McNew shared about overcoming fear, depression, and suicide.

We are thankful for our ministry partner, FamilyLife, that brings an outstanding “Weekend To Remember” marriage conference to our area each February.

Jimmy DeYoung of Prophecy Today visited the River Region and shared about Heaven, Christ’s Return, and his famous Prophecy Q & A!

Our Christmas Cross distribution was a tremendous opportunity to share, pray, and visit with listeners in Montgomery, Dothan, and Auburn. Faith Radio’s Ministry Magazine - April-July 2019

Faith Radio is a Trusted Source for Go by Kelly Treadwell, host of FaithSongs

S

ince its first broadcast in 1984, Faith Radio has sought to operate by its mission: “to serve the Christian Community and strengthen the local church and family unit as we provide spiritual encouragement and a personal challenge with a Christ centered focus, through Biblical teaching, relevant information, and uplifting music to the Glory of God.” We take our mission very seriously at Faith Radio and consider our overarching purpose of glorifying God in all we do to be a tremendous responsibility. Many of our listeners may not know the lengths we go through to ensure that our programming is in alignment with that mission. Whether it is music, preaching, or events, we screen our programming to the absolute best of our ability. At times, we have unfortunately found it necessary to eliminate programs or artists that we believed were not in align-

ment with our mission. We do all of this in an effort to make Faith Radio a trusted source for Gospel truth for our listeners. ............... Tony Evans is a gifted communicator whose preaching broadcast, The Alternative, is featured on Faith Radio weekdays at 9:30 a.m. Evans has served as senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas for over forty years. A popular author and speaker, he leads numerous ministries that apply his view that the church, not the government, is best positioned to deliver needed social services to communities. Tony Evans has been a speaker on Faith Radio since 1988. ............... Joni and Friends is a fourminute broadcast featuring inspirational messages from Joni Eareckson Tada. A quadriplegic since the age of 17, Joni is a trusted voice in the Christian community through her over forty year

commitment to bringing the Gospel and Christcentered assistance to those impacted by disability. Joni and Friends has aired on Faith Radio for over twenty years and is heard Monday through Friday at 10:25 a.m. ............... David Jeremiah is featured on Turning Point, heard weekdays at 6:00 a.m. He is senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, one of the largest churches in San Diego County, California. Jeremiah has been faithfully preaching the whole counsel of God since 1969. He is the author of numerous books and is a sought after speaker. Faith Radio has carried the award-winning Turning Point broadcast since 1989. ............... We voluntarily sought and have maintained accreditation with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, an independent accrediting organization that evaluates nonprofit ministries for responsible stewardship. ECFA evaluates ministries by the following seven standards: doctrinal issues, governance, ďŹ nancial oversight, use of resources and legal compliance, transparency, compensation-setting, and stewardship of charitable gifts. Faith Radio is pleased to have the accountability of the ECFA in addition to the oversight of the godly men and women who make up our Board of Directors. In all we do and with all we have, we aim to glorify God by making Faith Radio a trusted source for Gospel truth.

The Meeting House A Source of Music and Conversation with a Higher Purpose by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House The purpose of The Meeting House since day one has been to encourage Christians to apply Biblical principles and view the issues of life from a Christian worldview. As I select guests to appear on the program, I earnestly attempt to identify and schedule quality guests who will fulfill those objectives. Reputation and associations are two of the key components that I review. Often, a potential guest’s social media footprints can be very revealing, and it is important that they present content on social media that lines up with Biblical principles. Noted Christian apologist Recently, I was able to present the Top 10 Topics of 2018, Lee Strobel and his wife, Leslie, which featured comments from guests throughout the year visited with Bob at the about a variety of important cultural issues. Many of the topics NRB convention. dealt with application of God’s truth to issues and decisions we might face. For example, I spoke with Travis Weber of the Family Research Council about the landmark Masterpiece Cakeshop religious freedom decision. I also spoke with Bruce Hausknecht of Focus on the Family about pro-life voters in the 2018 election and Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson about Christian censorship on the internet. Each of these discussions drove listeners back to the trustworthy and authoritative Word of God on these relevant matters. Bob is pictured with the Once a year, I am privileged to get to spend time with many Benham Brothers, David and of our Faith Radio programmers at the National Religious Jason, who are leading voices on Broadcasters Convention. I both recorded and broadcast Christians engaging the culture. live this year from the exhibit hall in Anaheim, California. Throughout the next few weeks, you will hear conversations from guests such as: Greg Laurie, Joni Eareckson Tada, and Rick Warren. You will also get a chance to learn about upcoming film releases and be updated about developments regarding the defense of religious freedom. My desire is to help listeners view cultural issues from a Christian perspective and integrate Biblical truth into everyday life. Content from The Meeting House is available not only Bob interviews David Jeremiah, through the Faith Radio website and app, but through other one of Faith Radio’s leading apps as well, including iTunes, TuneIn, Spotify, Stitcher, and programmers. by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations

We live in a day where media surrounds us. Our world is flowing with messages. If we’re not careful, these tools of mass communication can become weapons of mass distraction. These messages have left many people today asking, “what is truth?” and “who can I trust?” On Faith Radio, we have preachers and teachers who are biblically sound. We work hard to ensure our ministry is a trusted source of God’s truth. When you give financially to support this ministry, you are making a trusted investment. Your investment in this ministry is handled under the Biblical standards of the ECFA and produces Kingdom fuel to keep sharing God’s truth. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? Your support is essential in helping us be a source of media that pours out His truth. Please join us as we seek to share clarifying words of truth to a searching world.
