by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations
Thank you for sharing with us your comments about the ministry work at Faith Radio. We have been so encouraged with the notes, emails, voicemails, and letters that we wanted to share a few we recently received: From Auburn - “We appreciate the ministry and preaching on Faith Radio, but also, after the loss of our son, your ministry has prayed for us, encouraged us, and loved on us – really ministered to our family. When you go through a crisis, it is a test of your faith, and when we lost our 26 year old son, God walked through our grief with us, and has now given us opportunities to help others. We are an example of 2 Corinthians 1:4 that tells us ‘He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.’” From New Jersey -“Yes, we live in New Jersey and we listen through the internet. My husband is from Montgomery and we lived in Montgomery for 12+ years until the Lord moved us to New Jersey (my husband is a pastor). Because I really enjoy Faith Radio and the program, I listen through my computer.” From Elmore County - “While in jail serving time, I heard God speaking to my life through Faith Radio and I am now a changed man. Once one of the largest drug dealers in our area, I am now fully committed to sharing with others the dangers of drugs and how only Jesus can fill the void in our life. I am thankful to Faith Radio and the supporters of the ministry.” From Montgomery - “God just reached down from Heaven and answered my prayer through Faith Radio and the Revive Our Hearts segment on trusting God to write your story. My friend’s 53-year-old husband dropped dead of an apparent heart attack yesterday, and I’ve been struggling with how to encourage her. I too am feeling so sad and shocked at the loss of a dear friend. The Revive Our Hearts discussion was another reminder of what I know... that God is good. He has the bigger picture and the all-knowing ability that I don’t have. I’m challenged to continue to anchor my heart in the Word of God and the goodness of God. Thankful for Faith Radio and this timely message for me today.”

We enjoyed a record breaking day at our 20th Annual Faith Radio Golf Tournament! Both the temperature and number of golf participants helped us exceed previous events. Our Golf Tournament helps provide for about 24 days of programming. We are thankful for the employees from the State of Alabama that visited our studios as part of the State Combined Campaign. 6

A Global
by Bob Crittenden, Director
W
hile many are familiar with Faith Radio’s local radio programming, you may not know the full extent of our global reach. Faith Radio’s ministry extends throughout the world and touches a diverse international audience. Broadcasting Throughout the Globe We regularly hear from listeners who tune-in around the globe via our webpage or through our mobile app. With the large military presence in our home listening area, many service members are introduced to Faith Radio while serving in Alabama and remain listeners wherever their careers take them. We have had other listeners introduce others to our ministry while traveling overseas for business, pleasure, or on mission trips, using Faith Radio as an outreach and discipleship tool. Wherever in the world you may go, you can take Faith Radio with you and listen (and introduce others) to our Christ-centered programming and uplifting worship music.
but it also helps locals learning the English language do so while hearing the Gospel. If you’re ever in Haiti, please tune-in! Faith Radio also has a key ministry partner in Uganda through a divine encounter at National Religious Broadcasters convention a number of years ago. We developed a relationship with Daniel Okabe, who operates Faith Radio Uganda. While the station is not directly affiliated with Faith Radio, we have supported and mentored the Okabe family in their important ministry. Daniel has also visited with us in Alabama on several occasions and has been an inspiration to us and many of our listeners.
A less well known aspect of our ministry is our direct partnership with Radio 4VEH, The Evangelistic Voice of Haiti, which broadcasts on 94.7FM from Cap-Haitien. This station provides Christ-centered, Englishspeaking programming for the people in Haiti. Not only does the station provide encouragement to English-speaking expats and missionaries, 8

Programming With A Global Focus Faith Radio has programming that is intentionally focused on missions and reaching an international audience. One program, Mission Network News, is heard at 2:57 a.m., 10:57 a.m, and 7:57 a.m. Monday through Saturday. This 2-minute broadcast has a theme of “Find Your Place in the Story” and features stories of international outreach ministries. It provides a greater awareness of developments on the mission field and challenges believers to be more involved in the important work of fulfilling the Great Commission. Many of the programmers heard on Faith Radio offer their programs in a variety of languages. For instance, Trans World Radio offers programming in over 200 languages, including many of the popular Faith Radio programs such as In Touch with Charles Stanley, Turning Point with David Jeremiah, and Insight for Living with Chuck Swindoll. Faith Radio promotes and partners with numerous ministries with worldwide outreach efforts. Two important ministries that listeners are invited to support each year are Operation Christmas Child and Wheels for the World. Operation Christmas
Child is a key program of Samaritan’s Purse and, since 1993, has lovingly distributed over 160 million shoeboxes filled with toys, supplies, and a Gospel message to children in over 150 countries and territories. Faith Radio’s own Bob Crittenden was blessed to be part of the distribution of shoeboxes in Columbia two years ago. Wheels for the World, an outreach of Joni Erickson Tada’s Joni and Friends, works through local churches to provide life-changing mobility and the hope of the Gospel to people impacted by disability worldwide. Listeners can be involved by donating wheelchairs, organizing a wheelchair drive, transporting wheelchairs to restoration shops or shipping ports, or giving so that wheelchairs can be restored and provided to those in need. They can also participate in wheelchair distributions around the world, where each recipient is presented with a Bible and the Gospel message. From our broadcast headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama, Faith Radio acts as a beacon shining the light of Christ throughout the world. Whether through our radio programming that reaches the ears of people in every corner of the world or our programers that send aid and perform ministry activities in many dark places, we are sending the Gospel to all nations. We thank you for partnering with us to have a global reach with a personal touch!

The Meeting House GO YE.... by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House
For a period of several weeks during August, The Meeting House was “on the road” visiting the Christian Product Expo International event in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and the Sing! Getty Music Worship Conference in Nashville. The Sing! Conference brought together an impressive lineup of speakers and musicians, who performed music encompassing a variety of musical styles and genres, blended together under the unity that comes from the cross. The theme was “The Life of Christ,” and speakers enhanced different aspects of his life, including his resurrection. That was a theme brought to light by Zambian pastor Conrad Bob and Os Guinness at Mbewe of Kabwata Baptist the Sing! Conference. Church in the capital city of Lusaka. Pastor Mbewe participated in the Sing! conference and later joined me on The Meeting House to discuss his experience. He boldly enunciated the meaning of the resurrection and also recounted his sharing of a commissioning message to the more than 13,000 conference attendees. Bob interviewed Conrad Mbewe Os Guinness, a noted author, was another conference at the Sing! Conference. speaker who appeared on The Meeting House. He encouraged Sing! attendees to fulfill the Great Commission through worship and spoke with me about his book, Carpe Diem Redeemed: Seizing The Day, Discerning The Times. Other singers and worship leaders who visited with me during the conference included John Lennox, Shane and Shane, Matt Papa, and Matt Boswell. Following the event, I interviewed Joni Eareckson Tada, who led a hymn sing at the Grand Ole Opry House, and conference visionary Keith Getty, who hosted the event Deborah Stricklin, author of Joy in with his wife, Kristyn. Surrender: Living A Life Yielded to God, Conversations from The Meeting House are available visited Faith Radio/Meeting House Media through the Faith Radio website and the app, as well Central at the Christian Product Expo as other platforms, including Apple Podcasts and International in Murfreesboro, TN, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and TuneIn. to discuss God’s call on her life to be Video excerpts can be accessed via FaithRadio.org or involved in ministry work. Do you hear what I hear? The Story Behind the Song by Kelly Treadwell, host of Faith Songs
ne of the more unusual stories behind a Christmas song is that for “Do You Hear What I Hear.” While most people believe the song is old and from European origins, O it is not. The song was penned in 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, which oddly enough played a powerful role in the creation of the song. Musician Noel Regney was born in France in 1922, and when the Germans occupied France, he was forced into the German army. He despised the Germans and worked as a double agent, secretly supporting the French Resistance. His support for his homeland was displayed when he schemed with the Resistance to lead a company of Germans into an ambush, allowing himself to be shot in the crossfire so as not to give up his cover. Witnessing the horrors of war had a tremendous effect on the young musician, and he longed for a world of peace. Many years after the war, he immigrated to the United States, where he married Gloria Shayne Baker, a fellow musician and composer, and lived in New York City writing commercial jingles and other musical compositions. One night in 1962, when the world seemed on the brink of nuclear war, Noel sat in a dread-filled music studio with a producer listening on the radio to learn if missiles had been launched. He later explained, “En route to my home, I saw two mothers with their babies in strollers. The little angels were looking at each other and smiling.” This quick encounter on the street inspired the first line of what would become a wildly popular Christmas song: “Said the night wind to the little lamb, ‘Do you see what I see’?” When Noel reached home, he and his wife quickly finished the composition, with Noel supplying the lyrics and Baker the tune. The song, with the primary message being a plea for peace, so moved the couple that they could not sing it without crying. The song was made famous by Bing Crosby when he recorded his version in 1963 and performed it on the Bob Hope Christmas Special that year. It has since been covered by hundreds of artists of numerous musical styles, including Christian artists Third Day and Mercy Me.

Give a Gift of Love by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations God started the giving tradition when He gave a gift of love wrapped in human flesh that was tied securely with His promises. One of the most important gifts we can give at Christmas is a gift back to the One who gave it all. When you give a financial gift to Faith Radio, you are giving a gift of love to help build God’s Kingdom. Our ministry is broadcasting the Good News of Jesus Christ right here in our communities and around the world. Your financial gifts are being used as Kingdom fuel to proclaim His truth, help build disciples, and change lives for Christ. There is truly no better gift than knowing that your gifts are helping others grow in the Lord! We invite you to join us between now and the end of the year with a gift back to the One who gave to us. To our special friends who are Federal and State Employees, we encourage you to participate in your combined campaigns and remember your friends here at Faith Broadcasting.
