NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2020

As we near the end of 2020, many of us are glad to see it go.
To say it has been unusual would be an understatement. It has been a year filled with tragedy, fear, isolation, and unrest. In times such as these, it is easy to feel alone and to question God’s presence. But it’s also in times like these that we must remind ourselves of Emmanuel. God is with us. Whether we feel like it or not, He is everpresent, working in His world for our good and His glory.

DEALER
DEALER At Faith Radio, we are much more than a radio station. Did you know that we are also actively involved in Prison Ministry? Our ministry partner, Chaplain Wayne Dozier, has been serving Christ in prisons for many years. He has solar-powered radios that are tuned to only broadcast Faith Radio, and he gives these to inmates. These radios also have a feature where they can listen to the Bible. This is a crucial tool in prisons, as many of the inmates cannot read. Wayne recently shared with us the story of Johnnie. Johnnie was incarcerated in prison in 2015 and was proudly known as one of the biggest drug dealers in Alabama. Wayne met Johnnie not long after he was incarcerated and shared with him a radio. Johnnie began listening to Faith Radio and also the Bible since he could not read. His life was changed when he committed his life to Christ. Johnnie began to come out of hiding and began interacting with those around him. Johnnie is now proudly known as the “Hope Dealer.” He enjoys serving alongside Wayne and sharing Christ with the other inmates. Thank you to our faithful supporters for helping change lives for Christ. You are making an earthly and eternal difference! FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
Mabel
listener testimony
Ministering to
To some, Faith Radio is a Christian radio station. To others, we are their in-home life-line. We want to share the story of a wonderful lady named Mabel Bush. Mrs. Bush was a 95-year-old faithful listener of Faith Radio. She lived in Seale, Alabama, and many of our River Region friends would know her son, John Bush. John has been a faithful servant to our ministry, and it’s always a joy to serve the Kingdom alongside him. Six years ago, John shared a need about his sweet mother. She was homebound and in need of a radio with an antenna so that she could pick up our station. We were able to bless Mrs. Bush with one of these so she could enjoy listening to the Christian music heard daily, as well as the programs that she loved so dearly. Mabel passed away in August 2020, and is now rejoicing in Heaven. Our ministry was deeply blessed that we had the opportunity to serve her in her last years. She was a woman of strong faith and served our country proudly as a retired US Marine. We are so thankful for her life, and her partnership in ministry. After Mrs. Bush passed away, her son John returned the radio so that it can be used to minister to someone else. A great reminder that when you receive a gift from Jesus, pass it on!

This radio, returned to us at Mabel Bush’s funeral, has been recommissioned to provide ministry to someone in need. FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE

Our volunteers will be building Christmas Crosses again this year! We anticipate the distribution to begin mid November. Keep listening for details and signups to reserve your Christmas Cross.
Our Golf Tournament continues to be one of the premier charity golf events in the River Region. This year was a sell out and will provide financial fuel to cover over 20 days of programming. Our morning flight winning team, representing Carr, Riggs, and Ingram were Dylan Ingram, Trey Johns, Stephen McCormick, and Gage Pregno. 6
Our afternoon flight winning team members were Tim Lee, Virginia Ann Holmes, Scott Gilreath, and Brandon Godwin.

FAITH RADIO PROGRAMMERS HEADLINE VIRTUAL EVENTS The COVID-19 crisis forced cancellation of the annual Harvest Crusade in Southern California, but Faith Radio programmer Greg Laurie (A New Beginning, weekdays at 2:00 p.m.) and the Erwin Brothers developed a virtual alternative, “A Rush of Hope.” Over Labor Day weekend, there were over 1.8 million views and over 17,000 professions of faith from this cinematic crusade. This digital event featured messages from Laurie, outtakes from Jon and Andy Erwin’s faith-centered movies, and artist performances from Jeremy Camp, for KING & COUNTRY and MercyMe. Faith Radio programmers were part of the overall Board of Advisors and speaker lineup for The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance on September 26, originating from Washington, DC. The advisors included Carter Conlon (It’s Time to Pray, everyday at 5:15 a.m.), James Dobson (Family Talk, Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.), and Anne Graham Lotz (Living in the Light, Sundays at 6:30 p.m.). Other event speakers included former Meeting House guests Pat Boone, Harry Jackson, and Alveda King. This event was simulcast to locations throughout the world, and communities in the Faith Radio coverage area held special events coinciding with The Return. Learn more about Faith Radio programmers or the Program Schedule at FaithRadio.org.
Brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, who make up the Australian duo for KING & COUNTRY, recently announced their first ever full-length Christmas album. ‘A Drummer Boy Christmas’ has recently been released and features two original Christmas songs among its 13 tracks. Music from the album will be included in the Faith Radio playlist during the Christmas season. FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE

In the Christmas story, angels appeared to both Mary and Joseph with a clear message: the Child who was to be born would be named Jesus. In Matthew 1, when speaking to Joseph, the angel added: “He will save His people from their sins.” In Luke 1, the angel Gabriel told Mary, “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Why the name, Jesus? On the Grace to You blog, John

MacArthur writes: “God chose the name Jesus for His Son because its basic meaning defined the fundamental, overarching purpose for the Son’s coming to earth.” “Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, Jeshua, or Jehoshua, each of which means ‘Jehovah (Yahweh) will save.’” Jesus came to earth to be our Savior, and other names attributed to Him can help us reflect on the many aspects of who He is and what He has done for us in salvation. For instance, Tony Evans writes about some of these other names found in Isaiah 9:6, including

Wonderful Counselor, “His perspective is infinite; His resources unlimited. His experience includes a lifetime on earth during which He experienced the same trials and temptations we face. Who could be better qualified to offer us guidance and direction?” About Jesus as Prince of Peace, Evans states, “He promises peace that transcends our circumstances. It invades the inevitable conflicts that arise in living a life in the midst of a sinful creation. It makes perfect sense to be at peace when all is well. But Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace,

promises us a peace that transcends understanding. (Philippians 4:7)” These are just three of 25 names of Jesus that are included in this year’s Advent Guide, “25: A Christmas Advent-ure,” entitled, “Call His Name.” By selecting and meditating on a name each day, it is possible to gain a greater appreciation of who our Savior is, what He has done for us in bringing salvation, and how He desires to express Himself to us. You can use the guide in the following pages or download it free from our website at FaithRadio.org.

STILL HERE: Meeting House Guests Relate God’s Faithfulness by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House The time approached for my scheduled journey to the Christian Product Expo (CPE) Fall 2020 Show in Wilmington, Delaware. The guest lineup was coming together, but there were quite a few moving parts due to the COVID-19 crisis. With masks and social distancing, the organizers wanted to bring Christian retailers and communicators together in person, so I made the trip. Conversations from the event have been heard on The Meeting House and video highlights from “socially distanced” Faith Radio/Meeting House Media Central can be accessed through The Meeting House home page. At the CPE Show, I interviewed guests with first-hand stories of people who stared down death or the possibility of being sidelined from God’s purpose, but they persevered and continued to trust Christ. Consider, for instance, Sharon Harris, who is from Wilmington, but her family moved to South Central Los Angeles when she was young. Sharon took her first drink of alcohol given by her grandmother when she was 8; she gave birth to her first child at age 12, when she was a ward of the state. Her testimony is compelling and a strong example of how God intervened powerfully in her life. Sharon shared that she shouldn’t even be here.

Ginny Dent Brant declared that same sentiment. Her cancer diagnosis motivated her to dig deeper and study the disease, as well as contributing factors. Ginny sought the Lord and discovered His design embracing God’s principles and His hope, exercising treatment options, and experiencing His healing.
There’s also the conversation with Sioni Rodriguez and her daughter, Scheila Singley. Sioni’s mother sold her into human trafficking three times. Scheila stared a long prison sentence in the face. They depended upon the power of the Holy Spirit, experienced His forgiveness and redemption, and faithfully tell His story.
Robin Luftig also trusted Christ when given 10 days to get her affairs in order prior to surgery due to a brain tumor. God used that time as a time of training and recalibration for her life. He walked with her through the trial, and she came through. These women’s testimonies remind us that God is not finished here on earth. We have a place in the Kingdom and can depend on the Lord to walk with us. FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
gifts in memory and in honor of... A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone at the time of death by recognizing that person’s Christian faith and testimony. Similarly, an honorarium is a tangible way of honoring a living person’s testimony. We are thankful for individuals listed below who choose to honor friends and loved ones through a gift that extends the message of Christ through Faith Radio’s ministry. Gifts made as of October 2, 2020. IN MEMORY

Have you ever thought about words? Words are simply tools that we use to point to the Truth. God knew this, and He knew that our words would never do; so He sent His Son, the Word, as living proof. But we use words because He is worthy and deserving of our praise and worship. There is power in the name of Jesus. Our God is unsearchable, yet knowable. He is indescribable, yet personal. By just His words, He created, giving nothingness formation. Holy is His name! At Faith Radio, we want to use our words to point others to the Word. Will you partner with us at Faith Radio? Your financial gifts to this ministry are used to praise His name. Your financial gifts help others know and grow in the name of Jesus. Your financial gifts to Faith Radio help others know the hope, strength and peace that is found in His name. Your financial gifts to this ministry will help others feel loved in the beautiful name of Jesus.
