TRUTH.

It’s a word that seems to have lost some of it’s meaning in our culture. There’s talk today of “your truth” and “my truth.” But Christians know that truth is not something that changes with time, culture, or whatever your mood may be. Truth is a fixed standard established by the author of Truth, modeled in the embodiment of Truth, and written in the Word of Truth. Faith Radio exists to share the truth of God and the Gospel to a world hopelessly mired in deception. We desire to help believers be sanctified by the Word, which is truth, and to walk in obedience to it. Through Biblesaturated teaching and biblicallybased music and programming, Faith Radio proclaims God’s truth 24 hours a day 7 days a week throughout the world. Tune in to one of our stations or listen online or use our new app to set your mind on God’s timeless, lifegiving truth.

PROGRAMMER SPOTLIGHTS “We have a right to believe whatever we want, but not everything we believe is right.” - Ravi Zacharias “Truth offends everyone outside its definitions. But the irony of truth is that the greater its potential for offense, the greater its potential for giving hope.” - David Jeremiah “One of the major problems leading to the breakdown of society is we have far too many opinions dictating life choices and not enough truth mandating them.” - Tony Evans “Without core convictions to help us navigate, we stand uneasily on shifting sand, and we lack the solid footing with which to stage a life of principle and character. What is needed today is a battalion of believers who follow Christ and stand for Him and His truth.” - Dennis Rainey

PROVIDING HOPE TO THE HOPELESS

F

aith Radio is much more than just a radio station. We are a ministry that touches lives every day. We recently heard from one of our faithful listeners in Andalusia who shared his story with us. At the age of 47, he was diagnosed with chronic heart problems which caused him to have to leave the workforce. Dean shared, “I was dealing with depression as a result of my problems, and I began to pray about what music I needed to listen to. Faith Radio brought me through those times, and now all my radios are set on Faith Radio. All the teachers that you broadcast have brought me so much peace and hope in the times that I’m going through the valley.” Our ministry is providing God’s strength and hope to our communities all day, every day. As we share God’s truth in word and song, the Dean Stanley (right) with Gary Heart and Reggie Powell at the annual fish fry on Frank Jackson Lake in Opp. rich promise of God can uplift and bring hope to the hopeless. At Faith Radio, we want to help you know that what you think may tear you apart, God will use to set you apart. Dean expressed his appreciation by sharing, “I’m so thankful to have a radio station like Faith Radio to supply me with hope and the Word each and every day.” Thank you to our supporters for your Kingdom work in ministering to those Dean pictured with his son Jason, daughter Hayley, and grandchildren Jase, Avery, Gracelynn, and Kayelee. in need!

by Kelly Treadwell, host of FaithSongs In a world dominated by lies, deception, and fake news, people are desperately searching for truth. It is in the midst of this chaos that those who follow Christ can speak with loving clarity about where truth can be found. Christfollowers know that ultimate truth is found not on the nightly news or political scene, but in a person, Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” John 14:6. Jesus also said that God’s Word, the Bible, is truth, and that through it believers would know the truth and be sanctified. See John 8:32 and 17:17. The Bible is one of the primary means God has given us to know and love the truth, and it is imperative that we regularly saturate our minds with God’s Word in order to stand firm against the deceptions of this world. Unfortunately, many professing believers are not plugging in to this powerful tool God has given us. They are not regularly engaging with God’s Word. According to the 2017 State of the Bible survey, the Barna Group found that only 20% of Americans believe the Bible is God’s Word and engage with the Bible at least four times a week. This is one of the reasons Faith Radio provides rich Biblical teaching throughout our programming. We want to serve the Christian community and strengthen believers by helping them interact with God’s Word during their day. Whether it’s regularly following along with a daily

Do you need help defending your faith? Faith Radio programmer Chip Ingram recently released a book that may help titled, “Why I Believe: Straight Answers to Honest Questions about God, the Bible, and Christianity.” Bible study or catching a quick encouraging verse or word in the car, these interactions with God’s truth can be life-changing. But it is not enough that we read or hear God’s Word, we have to be doers of the Word. See James 1:22. To be doers of the Word, we have to first recognize the Bible as true and authoritative in our lives. In that same Barna survey, almost 55% of respondents either thought the Bible was not God’s Word or was God’s Word mixed with error. It would not be a stretch to say that these respondents did not view the Bible as particularly authoritative in their lives. Those who profess to follow Christ must see the Bible as the authoritative Word of God and then respond by conforming their lives to it. This is because, as Faith Radio programmer Dr. Charles Stanley said, “We are either in the process of resisting God’s truth or in the process of being shaped and molded by His truth.” When we humbly bow to the authority of God’s Word, we can be shaped and molded by God’s truth into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. Faith Radio wants to send the truth of God’s Word over the air waves in our listening area and around the world via our website and app. Tune in and let our personalities and programmers enrich your life as we share the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Meeting House Looking Back and Looking Forward by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House

At the start of the New Year on The Meeting House, I look back over the previous year and formulate what I believe were the Top 10 Topics of that year. In doing that for 2017, I identified three topics that I believe will continue to be important issues in 2018. The first topic is religious freedom. There have been some positive advances in the Constitutional right to freedom of religion. At President Trump’s direction, the Department of Justice issued guidance strengthening various religious protections, and the administration rolled back Obamacare’s controversial contraception mandate with new religious exemptions. However, many challenges remain. Liberty Institute, which monitors incidences of hostility toward people of faith, has shown that attacks on religious liberty in the U.S. have increased 133% in the past 5 years. Jeremy Dys of that organization has discussed several cases where religious freedom is being challenged, including attacks on public prayer, attacks on religious speech in the military, and the use of zoning laws against churches. Chip Ingram of Living on the Another topic is sexuality. Society is pushing hard to redefine basic issues of gender and sexuality that have been Edge was a guest at NRB and on The Meeting House recently. unquestioned for centuries. However, faithful believers must stand on the truth of God’s Word and clearly proclaim that God created male and female, that His design for marriage is one man and one woman for one lifetime, and that sex outside of heterosexual marriage violates God’s standards. A third topic that will continue to be discussed in 2018 is race relations. The Bible presents principles that can foster unity, and the Church is strategically positioned to lead the way in promoting understanding among people of different racial and cultural backgrounds. Within the past few months, Harry Jackson of The Reconciled Church and author Stephen Mansfield have discussed that important, but sensitive topic. Kyle Searcy, Senior Pastor of Fresh On The Meeting House, I remain committed Anointing House of Worship, visited to providing accurate, timely, and Biblicallyin studio with Bob and hosted one of centered information regarding these and other the special events with Harry Jackson, issues. founder of The Reconciled Church. 2017-YEAR IN R

E

ach year, I spend significant time deciding what not to include in Faith Radio’s “year in review.” There are always so many worthy events to share, and 2017 was no different. The National Religious Broadcasters meeting, this year in Orlando, allowed our staff to be challenged as well as encouraged. Before arriving at the convention, we wonder what God will reveal that we need to do or share with our Faith Radio listeners. We got a taste of what God is doing nationally and internationally. Worship opportunities through concerts were in abundance this year. Perhaps you attended one or more of these: a February event at the MPAC featuring Mark Lowry; the Big Church Night Out at Garrett Coliseum featuring the Newsboys; the Rise Out of The Dark Tour with Danny Gokey and Mandisa in October; the Gaither Vocal Band in November at Frazer UMC; or, Chris Tomlin performing at the Montgomery Family Christmas. Events and ministries with an evangelistic focus were particularly effective this year. The Will Graham Celebration at the Dothan Civic Center, the Gridiron Men’s Conference in Birmingham, the Iron Works Ministry in Andalusia, and the Judgment House in Montgomery all saw responses in great numbers. It was another good year for additions to eternity.

A great benefit of our ministry work at NRB is getting one-on-one, face to face with many of the voices that you hear each day on Faith Radio. Bob Crittenden interviews Pastor Jonathan Falwell, senior pastor at the Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Faith Radio attends many events throughout the year and enjoys sharing our magazines and magnets with listeners of all ages!

Faith Radio also partnered with others to promote opportunities for ministry and discipleship. Our Family Faith Nights with the Montgomery Biscuits continued with two concert celebrations. The first featured Jasmine Murray and the second featured Calling Glory. Together at the Springs was a marriage retreat led by Dale and Jena Forehand at Shocco Springs near Talladega. In addition, the Hope Heals Camp continued at Camp ASSCA in Jackson’s Gap. These events ministered to many. Across the Faith Radio listening area, men, women, boys and girls came together to celebrate the National Day of Prayer. Faith Radio representatives were a part of many of those events. In turn, we had Faith Radio listeners helping us during the Christmas season as we provided crosses for distribution across our listening area. We had points of distribution in Montgomery, Dothan, and Enterprise. Plus, we supported what has now become an annual event for the Christmas season, the “Live Nativity” provided by Baptist Health in Montgomery. I hope you didn’t miss any opportunity to participate in the life-changing events sponsored or showcased by Faith Radio. Where will Faith Radio be in 2018? I can’t wait to see. “Guide me in your truth and teach me” psalm 25:5
