A fashion capital to be explored By all accounts, for fashion and luxury Milan is one of the most important shopping destinations worldwide.

Tourists from all over the globe crowd its streets to pursue one eminent goal, apart from sightseeing: to fnd something chic and trendy to bring home, in order to share the glamour that the city’s inhabitants emanate and that has made this Italian metropolis a unrivalled hotspot of fashion all over the world. This guide is dedicated to these very tourists and made from a very special viewpoint. Instead of listing the shops of the most famous and recognized luxury labels, Fashion has made it its task to meticulously discover all the less obvious shopping venues. What they ofer is a mix and essence of items that is truly impossible to fnd anywhere else.

To make the navigation of the guide as easy as possible, it is subdivided by geographic areas and styles, to enable the Milan visitor to explore the city with as much ease as possible.

Una Milano tutta da esplorare

Milano è a tutti gli efetti una mecca mondiale dello shopping di moda e del lusso. Turisti da tutto il mondo visitano la città con, oltre al sightseeing, un solo obiettivo in mente: trovare qualcosa di chic e di trendy da portarsi a casa, per condividere in prima persona il glamour che ha reso la metropoli lombarda leader incontrastata nel campo della moda. Shopping is Milan’s biggest attraction. And that’s particularly true for the historic city centre and the Golden Triangle of via Montenapoleone, via Spiga and via Sant'Andrea, which stretches up to corso Venezia.

These streets are home to big brands, with a range spanning from Armani to Zegna. Nonetheless, the area also harbours a wealth of historic multi-brand.

It really is an open-air temple to fashion and luxury.

Yet, if you cross piazza San Babila in the direction of piazza Duomo, you enter into a whole new realm of shopping. Corso Vittorio Emanuele II houses the chain megastores and department stores such as La Rinascente, the frst luxury department store in Italy.

That said, the new hunting ground for tourists is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Fresh from a renovation, the mall is the perfect setting for its Prada, Louis Vuit-

Opened in February this year, Strategia is the first monobrand store from the eponymous Marchebased footwear brand. In the spotlight are sneakers and slip-ons from Elena Iachi, brand launched in 2011, as well as branded footwear from Strategia and JFK. Everything on display is made in Marche, at the company’s production facilities in Civitanova.

The story of E. Marinella (which has another store in via Manzoni 23), began in the early 1900s with a small store in Naples selling shirts and ties, all made using fabrics imported from England. In the 1980s, then Italian president Cossiga took to presenting visiting heads of state with a box of five E. Marinella ties. It was, of course, an instant hit.

Launched in 1941 as a store selling men’s hats, the boutique grew steadily over time to move into menswear in the 1950s and incorporate womenswear in the 1960s.
