But to capture a beautiful specific species in wild life bird photo, photographers must have extra patience, research about the birds, have knowledge of photography techniques, fast responses to capture moments when the birds are in action, supporting photography gears, and of course luck! In this edition, we present beautiful bird photos from 3 photographers from Indonesia, 1 photographer from Hong Kong and 1 photographer from South Korea. Foto burung adalah salah satu jenis fotografi yang sangat popular. Anda dapat memoretnya hampir dimana saja, dari belakang rumah, di kebun binatang, ketika travelling dan lain lain. Akan tetapi apabila anda ingin mendapatkan foto burung spesies tertentu pada habitat aslinya dengan indah, fotografer di tuntut memiliki kesabaran extra, riset mengenai burung, memiliki pengetahuan fotografi yang memadai, kecepatan merespons momen pada saat burung-burung sedang beraksi, alat-alat pendukungnya yang sesuai dan tentu saja keberuntungan juga berperan! When using a large & heavy telephoto lens, (ex. 300mm f.2,8, 400mm f/2.8, 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4 etc). There are some limitations found on a ball head, we will find difficulties to capture moving objects, difficult to get the right composition, even though with the expensive tripod ball head. Ketika kita menggunakan lensa tele yang panjang dan berat (misalnya lensa 300mm f/2.8, lensa 400mm f/2.8, 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4 dan seterusnya). Kita akan menemukan keterbatasan pada penggunaan ballhead, antara lain kita akan kesulitan mendapatkan komposisi yang tepat, kesulitan untuk memotret object yang bergerak, fleksibilitas komposisi yang terbatas, dll. Meskipun kita menggunakan ballhead yang mahal. ff-magazine

Back than in film era, my work was using medium format camera and within 10 years I succeeded to create photo I really want it to be “Birds and Flowers”. At the time I was the only one who could create photos like the Chinese painting. With those photos, I have passed the test and earned the highest (fellowship) in several Photography club, one of them is “The Royal Photographic Society of London” which is known by the world of photography as the highest degree. Pada jaman analog saya mencoba untuk melukis dengan kamera menggunakan kamera medium format, dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun saya berhasil menghasilkan foto-foto yang saya idamkan yaitu berjudul “Birds and Flowers”. Pada jaman itu hanya saya satu-satunya di dunia fotografi yg bisa menghasilkan foto serupa lukisan China. Dengan foto-foto tersebut, saya telah lulus ujian serta mendapatkan gelar tertinggi (fellowship) di beberapa klub foto, salah satu diantaranya adalah “The Royal Photographic Society of London” yang di dikenal oleh fotografer dunia sebagai gelar yang tertinggi. Dewasa ini saya banyak mengambil foto burung di alam.

• PHOTOS IN BRIGHT LIGHT Helps to freeze the subject to remember the birds do not survive in a place with a long and bright light helps accentuate the details of the feathers are hidden. • FOTO DI CAHAYA TERANG Membantu membekukan subyek mengingat burung tidak bertahan di satu tempat dengan waktu lama dan cahaya terang membantu menonjolkan detil dari bulu-bulu burung yang tersembunyi • PATIENT WAITING Bird always easy going , when we are about to close. So wait until the bird flies near you • SABAR MENUNGGU Burung selalu mudah pergi, disaat kita hendak mendekat. • FOKUSLAH DI MATA BURUNG Pertama kali yang dilihat dari sebuah foto burung adalah matanya. Buatlah titik fokus di mata burung tersebut. • CHOOSE THE RIGHT BACKGROUND If you want to take a close-up subject, consider the background of the bird. Choose neutral or dark background. • PILIHLAH LATAR BELAKANG YANG TEPAT Jika ingin mengambil subyek secara close-up, perhatikan background burung tersebut. Pilihlah netral atau background yang gelap.

• CATCH THEM IN ACTION Note the habits of birds and shoot them when the bird to take action, such as feeding a baby bird, fly fishing declined by the beach and so on. • FOTO SAAT BERAKSI Perhatikan kebiasaan burung, dan foto saat burung tersebut melakukan aksi, seperti memberi makan anak burung, terbang menurun menangkap ikan di tepi pantai, dan sebagainya.

• USE A MONOPOD To reduce vibration, use a monopod or tripod considering our lens is a telephoto lens that is heavier than the camera body. • GUNAKANLAH MONOPOD Untuk mengurangi getaran, gunakan monopod atau tripod mengingat lensa yang akan kita pakai adalah lensa tele lebih berat dari body kamera. • ATTRACTIVE COLORS The human eye is spoiled by seeing the beautiful colors, for the birds to choose colors such as yellow, orange, violet and other color • WARNA YANG MENARIK Mata manusia dimanjakan dengan melihat warna yang indah, untuk itu pilihlah burung dengan warna seperti kuning dan sejenisnya • SETTING SUGGESTION We suggest to set your shutter speed above 1/500 s, the speed needed to get enough light. • PEGATURAN YANG DIREKOMENDASIKAN Sebaikan set shutter speed diatas 1/500 detik, untuk mendapatkan speed tersebut dibutuhkan cahaya yang cukup banyak.

• EQUIPMENT Use the above 300mm telephoto lens as subject photo is small and very agile • PERALATAN Gunakan lensa tele diatas 300mm mengingat subyek yang akan di foto bentuknya kecil dan sangat lincah CONCLUSION: Shooting birds is pretty much needed light. Try to close as possible to the subject to get the details and do not rush, learn to be patient waiting for the perfect moment when the bird is doing the action. KESIMPULAN: Pemotretan burung dibutuhkan cahaya yang cukup banyak. Berusahalah untuk sedekat mungkin dengan subyek untuk mendapatkan detilnya. Serta jangan terburu-buru, belajarlah untuk bersabar menunggu momentum yang tepat disaat burung tersebut melakukan aksinya. Jangan lupa untuk menggunakan monopod atau tripod untuk mengurangi getaran.

Beside my Job as a professional photographer, I like to take nature pictures, landscape and bird photography especially stork in wild life.

Diluar pekerjaan saya sebagai fotografer professional, dalam dunia hobby saya senang melakukan pemotretan alam, landscape, dan foto burung di habitat liar terutama bangau.

The challenge is when take photo in action, it is quite complicated & challenging, we need precise lighting, because the storks are white, also when backlight, and the moment would not happen again.

Tantangan yang paling menarik adalah pada saat action yang lumayan rumit, serta tantangan akurasi lighting dimana bangau berbulu putih, dengan kondisi backlight, dan dimana pada saat moment yang nyaris sulit terjadi pengulangan. ff-magazine

On Thursday, March 10th 2005. In Hotel Cipta. In Jl. Wahid Hasyim, Jakarta. We declared a photography organization called “Jakarta Photo Club” with initial 32 members. Jakarta Photo Club (JPC) is a nonprofit photography organization. With the main purpose by the founder, to gather all photography enthusiasts in one community, to learn, share and explore photography for the goodness photography. Pada hari Kamis - tanggal 10 Maret 2005, di R.Pertemuan Hotel Cipta – Jl.Wahid Hasyim Jakarta, di deklarasikan berdirinya organisasi Fotografi yang diberi nama “Jakarta Photo Club”, dengan anggota awal yang mendaftar sebanyak 32 orang. Jakarta Photo Club (JPC) dibentuk sebagai sebuah organisasi Fotografi nirlaba. Dengan tujuan utama para pendiri organisasi JPC adalah mengajak para peminat Fotografi untuk bersatu, dalam sebuah komunitas untuk bersama-sama belajar dan mengajar, memajukan dan mengembangkan dunia seni Fotografi.
