Food photography is one of the specialization in commercial photography, now days food photography are everywhere, commonly use for advertisement, product packaging, restaurant menus, cooking magazines / cooking books, restaurant / cafĂŠ billboard, etc. Food photography had influence in our modern life, for example beautiful and nice fast food advertisement. Food photography aim to make an attractive food photo, to represents the original food, color, texture, and conditions when served. Professional food photography usually involved art director, photographers, food stylist, properties stylist, lighting assistant , etc. Foto Makanan adalah salah satu bidang pada fotografi komersial yang sering kita temui hasilnya. Seringkali ditemukan di mana-mana, biasanya di gunakan untuk iklan, pembungkus makanan, menu restoran, buku / majalah masak memasak, billboard cafĂŠ / restoran, dan lain lain. Foto makanan memiliki pengaruh terhadap gaya hidup modern saat ini, misalnya iklan iklan fastfood yang sering kali muncul dengan foto yang indah dan sempurna. Foto makanan memang harus di buat semenarik mungkin untuk mewakili makanan sebenarnya , baik dari sisi warna, tekstur, kondisi pada saat penyajian. Pentax 645Z Medium Format features a 43.8 x 32.8 mm CMOS sensor with 51.4 effective megapixels, approximately 1.7 times larger than a full-frame 35mm format equivalent produces unsurpassed resolution and smooth tonal gradation representations with a real three-dimensional feeling. The sensor is designed without an anti-aliasing filter to maximize sharpness and details. ISO range from 100-204,800, and the Prime III image processor lends itself to fast image capture with a maximum of 3 fps continuous shooting. Gears : Cameras that I commonly used in food photography include large format cameras, such as Sinar, if work is done in studios, or Tokyo CF if work is done in outdoor settings, using Phaseone Digitalback that is connected via a sliding adapter (Flexadaptor and Fotodiox). However, sometimes Phaseone Digitalback attached to Horseman Digiflex with Nikon 85mm PC Lens is also used. For the lenses, macro and standard lenses are necessary. For special occasions however, a 35mm wide-angled lens PC is also used. Peralatan kamera yang digunakan: Untuk pemotretan makanan kamera yg banyak digunakan adalah kamera large format Sinar jika pekerjaan dilakukan di studio, atau Toyo CF jika pemotretan dilakukan di outdoor dengan menggunakan Phase One digitalback. Tapi kadang juga menggunakan Phase One digitalback yg dipasangkan pada horseman Digiflex dengan menggunakan lensa Nikon 85mm PC. Untuk lensa kebanyakan saya gunakan lensa macro dan standard tapi untuk kebutuhan khusus kadang juga digunakan lensa wide 35 mm PC.

HISTORY OF FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY In the 16th-17th centuries, paintings with food as the core subject began to flourish in Europe. Many people paid artists to paint still-life with food as a theme to exemplified “prosperity.” Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio’s and Johannes Ver Meer’s works were among the many famous paintings with this theme. Pada abad ke 16-17 di Eropa, lukisan dengan thema subjek makanan mulai berkembang. Banyak kalangan atas Eropa membayar pelukis untuk membuat lukisan still life dengan tema makanan untuk menggambarkan “kemakmuran”. Di antara lukisan-lukisan yang terkenal, ada karya dari Michelangelo Merisi de Caravaggio dan Johannes Ver Meer. In the 20th century, food photography is an integral part of the ever-so-growing food industry, affecting the growth of modern lifestyles whether it’s at home or at work. Di abad ke 20, food photography menjadi bagian tidak terpisahkan dari industri makanan yang dalam skala besar mempengaruhi tumbuhnya gaya hidup modern, bagaimana kita menyantap makanan baik dalam rumah tangga maupun di tempat kerja, mall, dll.

Food photography and the still-life paintings of the 16th century share a common purpose - to symbolize “prosperity.” The difference between the two is that in modern era, food photography is used as a tool of persuasion, not just solely as a symbol. Thus, it is always present four elements: Tempting, Delicious, Healthy, an Clean.

FOOD PHOTOGRAPHYâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Tips & Tricks Just like in any kinds of shooting, a photographer has to deal with light, camera and lens selection and composition. Sama seperti pada setiap jenis pemotretan, seorang food photographer akan berurusan dengan cahaya, pemilihan kamera dan lensa serta komposisi. Light The light source in food photography can be natural (sun) or artificial (flash lamp, tungsten, room lights, etc). Lighting modified can be a softbox, reflector, honeycomb, or even a bottle plastic, in which it can be used to block harsh lights. Cahaya Sumber cahaya yang digunakan bisa cahaya alami dalam hal ini matahari atau artificial lighting berupa lampu baik flash, tungsten, lampu ruangan dan lain-lain. Lighting modifier bisa berupa softbox, reflector, honeycomb atau bahkan juga penghalang cahaya dari botol plastic (saya sering menggunakan ini untuk memblok cahaya yang terlalu keras).

The side light (light originating from the side) is known as the most ideal light source because it is widely used in any kinds of photography, including food photography. The light can be adjusted according to preferences, such as on the top, the back, or on the side of the subject matter with the direction of the camera and its angles in mind. Keep the camera and the light source in a 45 degrees angle or more, for which this will produce better contrast as well as a ring of light circulating the subject matter. If the angle is less than 45 degrees, it results in poor contrast and the light falling on your subject will look “flat.”

Sumber cahaya dari samping atau lazim disebut side light adalah yang paling ideal untuk semua jenis pemotretan termasuk juga pada food photography. Side light bisa dari atas subjek agak sedikit dari arah belakang atau juga dari samping dan atau belakang subjek. Pemilihan letak main light ini tentunya harus disesuaikan dengan arah sudut kamera. Usahakan sudut yang terbentuk antara kamera dengan sumber cahaya paling tidak 45 derajat, karena hal ini akan membentuk kontras cahaya yang lebih baik serta menghasilkan cahaya melingkari texture makanan. Jika sudut antara kamera dan sumber cahaya hampir bertemu (kurang dari 45 derajat) maka cahaya yang jatuh ke subjek akan terlihat “flat” (datar) sehingga kontras yang ditimbulkan juga sangat sedikit. ff-magazine

The use of a reflector card will help us to adjust the contrast as desired. Reflector cards can be made from simple materials such as glass, aluminum foil, black or white cardboards with various sizes depending on the need. One also need a clamp to hold the reflector card . Penggunaan reflector card akan banyak membantu kita dalam mengatur kontras sesuai yang diinginkan. Reflector card dapat dibuat dari bahan-bahan sederhana seperti cermin, aluminium foil, karton hitam dan putih dengan berbagai ukuran tergantung kebutuhan. Selain itu juga dibutuhkan clamp untuk memegang reflector card.

Camera and Lens Ideally in food photography, the use of medium macro lens is a must. For DSLR cameras, an 85mm to 105mm lens, and 120mm or 140mm lens with a medium format are ideal. Ideal camera types for this kind of photography are the View Camera and the Large Format Camera, because of its large film format as well as its good quality lenses. Camera dan Lensa Idealnya dalam pemotretan food kita menggunakan lensa macro ukuran medium, untuk kamera DSLR lensa yang ideal adalah lensa 85mm hingga 105mm dan 120mm atau 140mm pada kamera medium format. Kamera yang ideal adalah jenis View Camera atau Large Format Camera, selain karena format filmnya lebih besar juga kualitas lensa large format camera tidak diragukan lagi.

Composition The composition in food photography is generally done diagonally in order to fill up the empty space (negative space). The use of selective focus technique is helpful to highlight the details of a subject or subjects Komposisi Komposisi dalam food photography umumnya dilakukan komposisi diagonal, tujuannya untuk memenuhi ruang kosong (negative space). Penggunaan teknik selective focus sangat membantu untuk menonjolkan subjek atau detail dari sebuah subjek. Concept / Idea Start by making a concept or an idea. How we want to portray the food to the audience and the core of the menu or dishes should be clearly conveyed in the concept or idea. We can explain a concept through a photo. Then, we can specify the appropriate mood lighting to support the very concept; whether we will make use of a flash or sunlight, whether the location should be outdoors or indoors, as well as the smallest details possible.

Konsep/Ide Mulailah dengan membuat konsep/ide, bagaimana kita ingin menggambarkan makanan tersebut kepada audience, inti dari menu atau masakan harus jelas tersampaikan. Ceritakan konsep tersebut melalui foto. Kemudian tentukan lighting mood yang cocok untuk mendukung konsep pemotretan, apakah kita akan menggunaka flash atau cahaya matahari, apakah pemotretan akan kita lakukan di lokasi sebenarnya atau di dalam studio, dan lain-lain hingga ke detail terkecil.

The Leica T System Mirrorless Camera Review Leica says that the T system is a return to back-to-basics shooting, which is borne out by the fact that there aren’t many complicated controls on the body of the camera itself. Inside the camera is a 16.5 million-pixel APS-C sized sensor, which puts it in direct competition with cameras from Sony, Samsung, Canon and Fuji. Leica has also developed a new image processing engine for the T series and this allows sensitivity to be set in the range ISO 100-12500. The Leica T is much more compact than other Leica models, most notably the Leica M. It’s reasonably similar in size and shape to the Panasonic GX7 (body only), which has a smaller sensor (Micro Four Thirds compared with the T’s APS-C sized sensor). Review Kamera Mirrorless Leica dengan T System Leica menyatakan bahwa sistem T adalah kembali ke awal mula memotret, karena tidak ada banyak kontrol yang rumit pada kamera itu sendiri.
