Sharp ELITE CLUB MEETING The Vineyard Hotel provided a spectacular backdrop to the recent Sharp Corporation P & S Conference held in Cape Town – a choice destination by this global brand. The newly renamed Sharp Elite Club Meeting was hosted by Sharp Middle East Freezone for both Sharp Management and Distributors from Japan, Dubai and across Sub-Saharan Africa with the Executive of Sharp and SMEF in attendance. Delegates were treated to previews of the latest ground breaking technology emulating from the Sharp stable and the global leader emphasised their intention of, once again, firmly positioning themselves in the Southern African market as respected authorities in the technical arena with sound investment, commitment and indeed world class products being reintroduced in the SA market. Seartec is the proud distributor of Sharp in Southern Africa and has aligned itself to the repositioning and reenergising of this respected brand and under the new leadership of Directors Mark McChlery and Bob Skinstad, has already regained an impressive percentage of the market share and working smart to break new ground based on strong relationships, sound values and providing future facing solutions.

Overstrand Golf day Overwhelms... Twenty one four balls lined up for a shot gun start at the magnificent Arabella Golf Estate for the recent Overstrand Classic. Proudly sponsored by Seartec, the tournament was hosted by the Ambassador of the Overstrand, Bob Skinstad, and showcased the region and more importantly, raised funds for the Madam Mayor’s Overstrand Early Childhood Development Fund. Brightly decked out in the four corporate colours of Seartec, each team was registered and introduced to the format of the day using the VPar live scoring system. An active Leaderboard reflected the teams registered and they were able to follow the progress and scoring of the competition on handheld devices.

Back in the Clubhouse, the impressive 3m by 3m Sharp video wall followed the scores point by point and later action photos of the day! Superb prizes sponsored by the Overstrand region and a wine tasting by Creation wrapped up a first class event which is now firmly locked on the golfing calendar. Great golf aside, it was with pride that Bob Skinstad raised and doubled an amount for R35 000 which has been donated to Madam Mayor, Nicolette Botha-Guthrie's Trust Fund and this will be used to immediately register and set up 5 creches in the Gansbaai region so that they are able to go forward and draw on a subsidy for each of their little charges. It all starts here! Thanks to all involved!

Revenge is sweet... This past weekend saw Bob Skinstad team up with old friend and legendary Australian commentator Greg Clark at the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens. Bob was able to walk away with the bragging rights as the Blitzbokke narrowly defeated their Aussie counterparts in the semis on their way to successfully retaining their title as the Champions of the SA Leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series. The son of Greg Clark, Cameron Clark, was a standout player on the weekend and is certainly one to keep an eye for the remainder of the tournaments. The Clarks headed to CT for some time off and were able to gain some revenge. Greg and Eric “The Iceman Simons were untouchable on the lush fairways of Steenberg Golf Course and walked away with the prize money, leaving the rest of the field wondering just how the Australian handicap system works.

It was great to see the camaraderie between CEO of Seartec, Mark McChlery, and Liberty Health Holdings CEO, Andrew Schwulst, as they went head to head in their respective teams. Once again, the love of sport reinforced old friendships and brought together captains of industry. Andre Coetzer

The Overstrand Municipality has most recently been awarded the No. 1 position of best Municipality out of 278 municipalities in the country! Congratulations!

Madam Mayor, Clr Nikki Botha-Guthrie, Dr Sylvia Earle and Honoured Guests There may have been rough seas to prevent the dive this morning and a nasty bug that has brought me down but absolutely nothing can hold back on the drive, commitment and passion of this world class initiative and recognition that our esteemed guest, Dr Sylvia Earle, bestows on the Overstrand region. Recognized for the outstanding work led by the Sustainable Seas Trust and the Cape Whale Coast Hope Spot, our region has been Honoured with the launch of the first SA Hope Spot in the international arena adding to a list of existing global Hope Spots. As the Ambassador to this magnificent region, I have the great privilege of experiencing the fruits of the labour of people from the region, watching their toils, trials and tribulations and sharing their tremendous and far reaching success. This in turn, I proudly share with my extended connections both here and abroad. My newsletter, Team Talk, is one such platform and on Wednesday 10 December, we introduce the Overstrand Golf Classic to the region. I look forward to seeing you all there! My parents and in laws live here and my young family and I return regularly to rest (and play!) and this is home to us‌ The Overstrand has a huge story to tell and each and every one of you in this community fulfills a vital role in the story telling. You are firmly positioned on the world stage. Shine! Safeguard this natural treasure with all you have. Be committed, be grateful and be exceptionally proud. I certainly am. Enjoy the evening, the celebration and no doubt the fine wines from the area! Best, Your friend, Bob Skinstad

Roast Chicken Remember the days of the Sharp Microwave Recipe Book…famous in its own right! Watch this space...but in the meantime one of the most popular recipes ever for the Sharp Convection Microwave (recently awarded the 2014 Fair Lady Consumer Award) is the delicious roast chicken, browned and crispy, cooked in just 35 minutes! Now that’s Solving Smart! Ingredients: 1 whole chicken 2 tbsp olive oil A little lemon juice or Worcester sauce 2 tbsp parsley 2 tbsp oregano 2 tsp brown onion soup powder Method: • Place chicken in a glass roasting dish with some potatoes and vegetables underneath. • Place the dish in the micro and press the auto roast button. Set the weight and press start. • In approximately 35 min, depending on weight of chicken, you'll have perfectly tender roast chicken. • Remove some of the oil and use the juice to make a tasty gravy.
