Please clear my head of all distractions, and my heart of burdens I may bear, so I may perform my very best, knowing that you'll always be there. Please lift me up before the moment, so through your eyes I may see, and have a clearer understanding, as the game unfolds before me. With great courage I will meet this challenge, as you would have me do, but keep me humble and remind me, that my strength comes from knowing you. Then when all eyes are upon me, at the end, I will turn their eyes to you O' Lord, to glorify of your name. -Amen
The latest stab at the dream surf car was unveiled at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, and it wasn’t a van-shaped iPad. Instead, it’s a neoprened, canopied, key-protecting Chevy Colorado – the surf-specific Z71 – a concept collaboration nearly a year in the works by GM Motors and Hurley. So, what features does the truck deliver? One of the most surprising is the khaki green “Ventiprene” seats, which was created with essentially the same material as your wetsuit and won’t sog or stink the inside of the cab after a session. Another is an included waterproof bracelet that you wear when you’re in the water. Hold it up to the Chevy “bow-tie” insignia, and it can lock / unlock your vehicle. No longer do you need to bury your keys at the base of the lifeguard tower, hoping some villainous soul doesn’t poach your stuff, or your car, when you’re in the lineup. Conceptually, at least, there’s a lot going on with this rig. There are other features, too. A custom surfboard rack mounted to a Bimini-style cover – it’s made from the same neoprene-y material as the seats – was designed to provide shade on a hot day in the sun. A bed-mounted, extendable Thule rack serves as a drying rack for your gear, along with a space to store portable water containers. The crew cab comes with lifted suspension for mountain / desert terrain travel. It’s a Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to seven different devices. A snorkel – a snorkel! – will give your truck some airspace in case you’re unloading jet-skis, or if you’re swamped in a torrential downpour, or if high tide is way too high. The public’s response will determine much of the truck’s progression. Whether it’ll sell widely or find a niched audience, it marks the next chapter in finding the ultimate surf vehicle. “We wanted it to accommodate every surfer’s needs,” said Hurley at the show. “From Ghost Tree to Baja, we wanted this truck to be able to do it all.” Read more at http://www.surfermag.com

Cristobal rios - How about storage for water to rinse after surf Kenny Conway - Lets have that Bed-Shell extendible so we can stand under it for privacy & protection from the elements...and add a heater for warmth while changing. And without becoming a full-on camper it would be cool to include some quick conversion options to accommodate a "sleeper" for those quick over nighters. wyatt - Never before has a Baja-minded vehicle so loudly screamed, "I AM RICH PLEASE ROB ME." KillaKiel - Love my Colorado. The work truck model is all you need, you can be upgraded easily, and saves a lot in loot. Comfortable, fuel efficient, and no need for wifi.

"Whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31 Winning U14 Girls at the Easterns Championships this year was a huge accomplishment for me. Being given the opportunity to glorify God when I got the opportunity was an even bigger accomplishment. At all of the big National, East Coast, Primes, or Regionals events, I always hope and pray that I will do good so that I can glorify God and show everyone that if we believe in Him and trust Him to lead us on our path, then He will help us achieve our goals... though many times it does not work out for me. At these big contests when I don't perform as I had hoped and it doesn't work out for me, I am constantly told "This was not your time, this is not where God thought that you could have the biggest impact on the people around you." After competing for four or five years, I have been waiting and praying for one of those moments. This year, starting at the ESA regionals, God started giving me opportunities that I could use to glorify His name. I felt so blessed to have had that experience and going into Easterns, I prayed that He would give me an even bigger platform. After praying heat after heat, finals came around. I was using a new board that I had just gotten, so I did not yet have stickers or my scripture and cross on it yet. But when I came out of the water, I was able to be chaired up the beach with my old board behind me, with the cross facing everyone so they could all see WHO I stand for and I felt so blessed knowing that this was one of the moments that He was providing me with...to show everyone that my identity is in Christ. We went into awards later that day and I was able to give a speech and praise our Lord and thank Him for all He has done for me in front of the entire crowd and online on ESA's website. This was one of the biggest accomplishments I have had in my life and I thank God for every single bit of it. For all of you surfers, or whatever sport you might play that you are waiting for a moment to glorify Him with, just be patient with Him. Know that He will give you the opportunity to glorify Him, when He knows that you are ready.

REPORT CARD Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. I placed my grades as a high priority. I thought that by getting good grades I would also obtain a good future. I got a “C” for the first time as my quarter semester grade. I was in denial and only saw nothing but a broken future and path ahead of me. By getting a “C” I came to realize that I leaned on and submitted to my grades for hope. The Lord places us through hardships, not to punish us, but to make us grow in our faith through such experiences. The Lord has a plan for all his children, so we can lean and submit to him, because through him, our paths cannot be broken even if we continue to experience hardships throughout our futures. What are you leaning on right now? What idols may you be submitting to? Where may your true values lie right now? Please take this time to reflect on this.

From Jen — One of the most difficult days I have here is trash day. We are blessed here to live in a nice neighborhood, but that also equates to being thought of as homes with "good trash." Each week, about 20 people walk around from house to house and open trash bags to hunt for usable items and food scraps. I had not eaten one item from a restaurant and tears flooded my eyes and anguish wrapped itself around my heart as my 3-day-old discarded meatball became food to this man. He searched until he had finished picking through and then tied the bag together and went on to the next house. I just sat and cried. My heart struggles so. I started asking around about this and learned it is ongoing and has always been this way. I found out that it's not a good idea for me to talk with these men. They can be friendly when you give to them but turn aggressive if you have nothing to offer. I have been asking God how one female can make a difference in this country and Casey and I agreed that I must be safe but even though I am one I can make a small difference and start there. I bought an extra loaf of bread and wrote a scripture on a note and left it by our trash bag. I checked 5 minutes later and it was already gone. Another man has started ringing the bell at our gate asking for food. Sadly, I know that it isn't wise to just give him food every time he stops by. I asked him to come back Thursday morning. He had a hard time understanding me as he mostly speaks Afrikaans, but repeated "Thursday morning" and said good bye. He rang our bell early that day. Casey and the kids gave him the loaf of bread I bought the day before and I added a post-it note with the Aaronic blessing written on it, and "Jesus is lief vir jou" at the bottom. Jesus loves you. He came back 5 days later and rang the bell again. Casey spoke with him and told me later he wasn't mean but wasn't happy that we didn't give him anything and to come back on Thursday. My heart just aches. One day I saw a boy about Ezra's age digging through the neighbors bags. A little boy that should be in school. My heart continues to ache. My friend says there is a small group of people that live off on their own in the woods and not in community with others in the township. She said this small group does their own thing and that the boy I saw either has parents that don't care or no parents at all and that there is no real system in place by the government to care for him. I haven't seen him again. I pray for that child and the many others that I've never seen. Praise God that there is a small army of believers that do what they can to be the hands and feet of Jesus right where we are. Most of my friends say they too leave food out and many groups that are partners with Christian Surfers reach out in the township by teaching the kids to surf and share Jesus with them each time they hang out. Jesus is our hope and He truly is our daily bread.
Jupiter locals and professional SUP surfers Giorgio and Izzy Gomez were just in Fiji for the 2016 ISA World Championships. Giorgio fell 1 point shy of first place in the finals and Izzy placed with a solid 2nd place finish in the finals. The surf was in the head high range and as usual these two put on one heck of a performance. The International Surfing Association (ISA), founded in 1964, is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing, StandUp Paddle (SUP) Racing and Surfing, Bodysurfing, Wakesurfing, and all other wave riding activities on any type of waves, and on flat water using wave riding equipment. Vans Triple Crown renews dedication to host Hawaii's only sustainable event series With an emphasis on the environment, Vans Triple Crown of Surfing made event sustainability a top line priority amid six weeks of non-stop surf action, for the fourth consecutive year. Now in its 34th year, the Vans Triple Crown is one of Hawaii’s most sustainably-run events with a full-scope waste management program through Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii. With the help of Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, the Vans Triple Crown series is on track to divert 60 percent of waste from the landfill in 2016 by implementing tent stations throughout the events. The series will utilize diversion strategies that include: using only compostable serveware with meals; providing water stations and reusable bottles for athletes and staff; fully sorting trash to separate compostables, recyclables and other; use of biodiesel generators and fuel; and public education to encourage attending fans to follow suit. Over the past four years there has been a steady upsurge in recycled, composted and renewable resources pioneered by the Vans Triple Crown. “Executing waste diversion strategies for the Vans Triple Crown show the event’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact on the coastlines they rely on to survive,” said Kahi Pacarro, Executive Director of Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii. “Going on four years of successful execution demonstrates the pledge to sustainability. All large-scale events should look to the VTC’s sustainable strategies as a model for their own. The City and County of Honolulu should actually mandate efforts to decrease events’ environmental impacts and improve community impact.” Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Vans and WSL recognize that one of the biggest threats to our ocean is plastic pollution. Because of its geographical positioning, Hawaii is a magnet for marine debris and thousands of pounds of trash wash up on its shorelines each year. The message to reduce plastic consumption is at an all-time high and Vans Triple Crown strives to share this with visitors during the six-week surfing series. “In past years we have focused a lot on resource management; That is, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii has done an incredible job of sorting waste created at the events and educating attendees and the broader community about how to properly sort their waste,” said Kim Matsoukas, Vans Sustainability Manager. “But this year we have focused more on stopping waste from being created in the first place. We are doing this through the refillable water stations, providing Mizu water bottles for staff and competitors, and using reusable bags at the merchandise tent.” A significant reduction to the North Shore’s plastic footprint was made in 2015 when Vans Triple Crown provided water refill stations and reusable water bottles for all staff and athletes at the three events. In fact, 36,296 single use plastic water bottles were avoided through the use of refillable water stations, and bottles will be implemented again this year in conjunction with Mizu, an environmentally-friendly water bottle company, to lessen plastic in our environment and spark a new wave of ocean-conscious consumerism. In an effort to malama their community and perpetuate environmental stewardship beyond the six-week series, WSL Hawaii and Vans Triple Crown will continue to donate broadly amongst local schools, organizations and nonprofits. Support and in-kind beneficiaries include North Shore Community Land Trust, Friends of Ali‘i Beach, Malama Pupukea-Waimea, Haleiwa Arts Festival keiki program, Na Kama Kai, Surfrider Foundation, AccesSurf, Menehune Surfing contest, Haleiwa Elementary, Sunset Elementary, Waialua Elementary and Waialua High’s international sustainable culinary program. Vans also provides proper reusable bags for merchandise sales during the events, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own.
Social media does so much good for us, but there is also a price we pay for constantly being connected. We are addicted to this connection as well as the gratification and importance it gives to us. This need to feel gratified and important leads us to fear and anxiety. Our addiction to social media produces a deep fear and anxiety in at least two ways. Our addiction to social media has fueled an anxiety of approval. We post a picture or video, share an article, open up our lives and then we obsessively check to see how many people have liked our post or how many people have commented. The power of likes and comments is stronger than we know. So many young men and women find their identity in this tangible affirmation. When the likes aren’t there or when someone in particular has not liked our picture or post anxiety takes over. Social media hooks us by making their sites essential for our daily lives and positioning us to value our identity in the approval of others. Alan Jacobs once said in an issue of Comment magazine: “We are addicted to one another, to the affirmation of our value—our very being—that comes from other human beings. We are addicted to being validated by our peers.” We all need to be loved and accepted and social media has created a way for us to find this love and acceptance almost instantaneously. The problem is this acceptance and love is fickle because the social media community is fickle. When we find our identity in the likes and comments of social media we make others the arbiter of our worth and value. We give others power over us. When we find our identity in social media, anxiety cannot help but overwhelm our lives. Our identity is not found in how many people comment on or like our picture or post. We are created in the image of God, loved by God and worthy of the blood of Jesus. The approval of others found in likes and comments cannot compare to the approval we find in Christ. Our identity is found in who God declares us to be, not in who others declare us to be by their approval. Maybe we need to unplug for a while and remind ourselves of who we are in Christ Jesus. The way to fight anxiety over the approval of others is to trust in the love of God, to place our hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Know who God declares you to be and let go of how many people like or comment on your latest post.

When we look at Jesus' life, it involved Servanthood, Sacrifice and Suffering. Just a reminder, Jesus is our model for life. But we have gotten distracted, and what we've come to value and build our lives around are comfort, security and pleasure. As surfers, we get jazzed on the pleasure component. But, one thing you realize when looking into Scripture and observing life is that there are things more important than my comfort, security or pleasure. God is well aware of this and that's why He gives us the model of His son as well as the guidance of the Bible. His desire is that we wouldn't get to the end of our life only to discover that we "sowed" selfish seeds and wasted our life. This idea is similar to the guy that goes on a surf trip and spends all his time in the bar or "waiting for it to get good" and suddenly realizes the trip is over and he's missed out. Don't miss out on life. The fact is - you will drop seeds into the ground this week. The question is - what kind of seeds will they be? Sow seeds for God. With the help of Jesus, drop some seeds of servanthood, sacrifice and even suffering (if God chooses) with the confidence that in the end you will not regret it... nor will you have wasted your life. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Our cat, Casey, can purr very loudly, especially when it comes to food. For sixteen years, almost every time he has eaten in our presence, he purrs while he devours his food, in sincere gratitude. A person could easily become bored with eating the same meal, every morning and every evening, but not Casey. Every meal seems brand new to him, and is always received with great excitement. The sound of him crunching his food, paired with his ecstatic purring makes my husband and I smile to hear him respond with such enthusiasm to the small gift we’ve given him. I thought about how God might feel when we’re truly grateful to Him for blessings he’s given us. It must give God great pleasure when we are filled with thanksgiving for all the many gifts he offers us. I realized that it also feels good to us personally when we’re grateful and when we express the love and peace we feel to others and back to God. And though it has been especially challenging for me to be thankful when life is painful and difficult, I am inspired by Jesus’ examples of gratitude in the face of suffering. Even when facing persecution from others, Jesus taught us, “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…” (Matthew 5:12). And as I write this, Casey is purring as he lays in the sun, showing me how to be content in all circumstances.
NSSA, ESA, ASF, Gnarly Charley, USA PRIME, Single Fin Showdown‌ you name it these kids are at it. What a great time we have traveling around with all of you at contests up and down the cost. These are just a few of our, and your, photos taken along the way.
Who We Are FLOW is open to everyone; men, women, youth, boys, girls and families who desire to share God’s love through their actions towards surfers. We are an outreach where we care for surfers at the beach, at surf contests and at special events. Although we do surf and have surfers involved you do not need to be a surfer to serve God. Please take a moment to pray for our group and see if you, or any of your friends or family, feel drawn into our mission field. If you have any questions feel free to approach any of the FLOW guys or gals at the events or e-mail us at flowsurfers@yahoo.com Monthly Events We meet each month at local surf event or contest sites. We arrive early and either help the contest get set up or we help beachgoers who are carrying arms full of chairs, umbrellas and coolers. In between we surf, pass out snacks or drinks and FLOW stuff. Afterwards, we gather for a devotion and discuss upcoming events and opportunities to serve others. Our devotions are very casual and are geared for first timers to Bible scholars. All are welcome to hear God’s word and ask questions like, “What does that have to do with me?”. Special Events We try and pack up the vans and see our local sites. The wave pool in Orlando is obviously a favorite as well as our Summer FLOW Jam where we jam as many kids into two vans and travel up coast and camp our way back home while surfing as many breaks a possible. There are lots of ways to be involved just come and see. We serve at National and Regional Contests: ASF Florida Contests, ASF Championships, NSSA Southeast Contests, NSSA East Coast Championships, Quiksilver King of the Peak, Gnarly Charley Surf Series, Walking on Water Movie Tours, Rip Curl Grom Search… Get plugged at: flowsurfers@yahoo.com www.fellowshipledonwater.com www.instagram.com/flow_surfers/ www.facebook.com/FellowshipLedOnWater

Why Blank? Like a surfboard, we all begin as a raw blank; scuffed up, yellowed and not so pretty. God works in us to shape us for His glory and according to His plan. We don’t know exactly what our final shape will look like, but He is the master shaper and we have to trust in his plan. You may want to be a big wave gun and he may be shaping you into a fish. Why a fish? He has a plan to use you when a wider outline, slightly thicker rail and fuller tail is needed. How well will you work, for His glory, if your outline is for Pipe and you are surfing Ocean Ave.? In this shaping bay, we will never be glassed. The Master Shaper is never finished with us.
