Lina Carrusca

Any regular visitor to Fairways will immediately recognise Lina – she’s been a familiar member of the Reception team for 32 years, almost since the resort opened. However, she hasn’t always lived in the area.

Originally from Faro, Lina’s family emigrated to Australia just before her fifth birthday, and 20 days before Portugal’s revolution on 24 April 1974. Although happy in Sydney, Lina fell in love with the Algarve when she visited as a teenager. She vowed to return but made a pact with her parents to finish her education at Sydney’s Metropolitan Business College first. After keeping her side of the bargain, Lina moved back to Faro in 1991 and has never regretted it.

“The Algarve is a wonderful, laid-back place to live and it’s helped by the fact that I have the best job in the world. I love everything about my work, especially the interaction with members,” she says. “I can remember people as kids in prams, who are now parents themselves. It’s very gratifying. As the mother of a 21-year-old daughter myself, I’m constantly reminded of how quickly time passes.”

In her spare time, Lina loves reading, gardening, cooking and travelling.

Qualquer visitante frequente do Four Seasons Fairways reconhece imediatamente Lina – que há 32 anos integra a equipa da Receção, quase desde a inauguração do empreendimento. Mas ela nem sempre morou por estes lados.

Originária de Faro, a família de Lina emigrou para a Austrália antes de ela completar cinco anos, 20 dias antes da revolução de 24 de abril de 1974. Na altura, Lina aprendeu a falar inglês na escola (com sotaque australiano) e português em casa. Apesar de ser feliz em Sydney, Lina apaixonou-se pelo Algarve quando o visitou durante a adolescência. Jurando a si própria que regressaria, combinou no entanto com os pais que terminaria primeiro os estudos no Metropolitan Business College de Sydney. Em 1991, após cumprir o combinado, Lina mudou-se para Faro e nunca se arrependeu.

“O Algarve é maravilhoso, proporciona uma vida descontraída, e ter o melhor emprego do mundo ajuda bastante. Adoro todos os aspetos do meu trabalho, sobretudo a interação com os membros”, afirma ela. “Conheço pessoas desde pequenas, ainda dentro de carrinhos, que hoje em dia são pais. É muito gratificante. Sendo eu própria mãe de uma rapariga de 21 anos, tenho bem noção da velocidade com que o tempo passa.”

Nos seus tempos livres, Lina gosta de ler, jardinar, cozinhar e viajar.
