Uvodnik
Intro
Dear readers, This year, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, with its theme of “Tourism for Inclusive Growth,” we were reminded of the important message about how we should “look beyond tourist statistics”. Therefore, we have decided to be the voice of those who are less heard and affirm that people are not just numbers, and thus, contribute to the creation of a society of equal opportunities. In this issue, we wrote about how tourist destinations must be adapted for everyone and researched who worked on this issue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are proud that through the #bihbucketlistchallenge we have encouraged many to visit domestic tourist destinations, plant trees, and clean the environment (and consequently, helped preserve nature) because through such means, we will preserve our greatest treasures, which are the future of sustainable development in all segments of life, including tourism. The world is becoming more and more aware of this, so we need to wake up too! Let us preserve the Earth and its nature, for we have not inherited it from our grandfathers and fathers but borrowed it from our descendants! 7

Clients had the opportunity to enjoy a completely new concept and try an incredible assortment of coffee and food made according to American recipes. The second branch was opened in Ilidža at bb Dr Mustafe Pintola Street. In most European markets, this concept of cafeteria already exists, while in our market Caribou Coffee is slowly beginning to change consumer awareness and introduce the “coffee to go” principle. We learned that they are planning to open branches in Sarajevo, Mostar and Visoko so that coffee lovers in other cities will be able to enjoy these delicious drinks. 14

“IZ MOG ISKUSTVA, LJUDI KOJI SU BILI DOBRI DO PANDEMIJE, SADA SU JOŠ BOLJI. TO ME MNOGO RADUJE, JER OVOM SVIJETU TREBA VIŠE DOBROTE, HUMANOSTI, SREĆE I LJUBAVI” Razgovarala: Elma Zećo / Foto: Privatni album
B
SLUŠAM SVOJE SRCE Jeste li stvarali tokom lockdowna? - Naravno! U jeku pandemije, u junu prošle godine, objavila sam novi album, iako sam ga planirala izdati mnogo kasnije. A ja nisam imala mnogo vremena. Uglavnom sam radila na postprodukciji albuma. Suštinski se nije mnogo toga promijenilo. Imam sreću da moji prijatelji žive širom svijeta. Stalno smo u kontaktu.
To me mnogo raduje, jer ovom svijetu treba više dobrote, humanosti, sreće i ljubavi. 19
INTERVJU / INTERVIEW
- Teško me može nešto skrenuti s puta.
“TEŠKO ME MOŽE NEŠTO SKRENUTI S PUTA. NAVIKLA SAM DA IDEM NAPRIJED I NEMAM MNOGO VREMENA ZA PROPITIVANJE” ta kada sam odrastala u sarajevskoj mahali je zaista neprocjenjiv. Stalno putujete zbog prirode posla. - Proputovala sam pola svijeta i vidjela mnoga prelijepa mjesta. U ulozi turiste nisam odavno nigdje otputovala. Uvijek to povežem s na-
stupima, jer gdje god putujem najčešće imam prijatelje. Obično ostanem duže na nekim destinacijama. Kada ste s dobrim i opuštenim ljudima, onda je to najljepši odmor. Na kojim mjestima punite dušu? - U prirodi. Volim planinu. Tamo se baterije najbrže pune. Postoji li nešto u čemu ste posebno dobri, a da nema veze s muzikom? - Dobra sam s brojevima. 21

ith the awakening of the artistic scene, which was particularly affected by the pandemic, audiences can look forward to Amira Medunjanin’s performances in various cities by the end of the year. Like everyone, she attempted to return to the scene as if nothing had happened, but she admits that this attempt was difficult after summarizing all the events that took place in such a short period of time.
veral occasions. It was a great relief after a long time. I think we helped each other and were finally able to breathe freely.

Did you work on new projects during the lockdown? - Of course! In the midst of the pandemic in June last year, I released a new album even though I planned on releasing it much later. However, during the beginning of the lockdown worldwide, that is, when the world came to a halt, I decided to release it as soon as possible. How much did the pandemic change you as a person?
Her first concert that was held in Atrija of Zagreb’s hall Vatroslav Lisinski was followed by unique emotions – the musicians on the scene as well as around 500 people that arrived to watch could finally enjoy the event, which had to last longer than other concerts. - Various epidemiological measures are still in force, and no concert I have held has passed without their application, so everything has become more difficult. We also have to understand people; their fear of going to concerts is still present, although, honestly, I had the honor of performing in a full theater on se-
I LISTEN TO MY HEART
“IT IS DIFFICULT FOR SOMETHING TO DISTRACT ME FROM FOLLOWING MY PATH. I AM USED TO GOING FORWARD, AND I DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME FOR DOUBT.”
- The pandemic negatively affected the whole world. All of us closed ourselves off at home, and it was hard to predict how things were going to play out. There was a lot of talk about how everything would change after the vaccine. However, the low supply of vaccines and the problem with different types of misinformation made the pandemic last longer. I didn’t have a lot of time. I primarily worked on the postproduction of the album. Essentially not much has changed. I am lucky that my friends live all over the world. We’re always in contact. Thanks to that, it

was much easier for me. However, it seems to me that this period of time was important for another reason. From my experience, people who were kind before the pandemic are even kinder today. That makes me very happy because this world needs more goodness, humanity, happiness, and love. During your career, you have had the opportunity to work during stan24
dard working hours. Driven by your heart, you open yourself towards music that shines for a moment, but it is difficult for such glory to last. How much sacrifice did your journey to recognition require? - I did my work like everyone else does. It was nothing special other than the fact that I chose to work around twelve hours a day, but that same work also fulfilled me. Work
is what keeps us alive, and a hardworking person doesn’t have to worry about the future. However, even in that situation, sometimes you wonder whether you really want to continue. In my case, I decided to dedicate myself to music overnight. Just like that. And I don’t know how much sacrifice that required on my part. If you really love something, then complete sacrifice isn’t that
“What’s important is to simply listen and follow your heart.”
- If I want to challenge myself at least a little bit, I try to take a different path from the last. If I can say so, I feel most secure on uncertain ground. It is much easier, interesting, and motivating.
I CHARGE MY BATTERIES IN THE MOUNTAINS
I LOVE PEACE BEFORE A PERFORMANCE
- I use social media as much as I can. Most people are on social media, and it is useful for many reasons. Privately, I use social media because of my numerous friends who live in a variety of countries, but also, every information posted online about performances is an easier way to reach the public.
What inspires you to choose the compositions you do? - Stories that are related to the songs. The world they came from. People can relate to music most easily, and that connection becomes permanent. All of those songs carry wonderful stories from ancient times, and it would seriously be difficult to be unable to feel all of that power and beauty. Do you have a special ritual before a performance? - I love peace before a performance and nothing more. I get nervous every time I go on stage. Admittedly, it doesn’t last long. After the first song, everything comes back to normal. What is it that you primarily want to evoke in those who listen to your music?
important. What’s important is to simply listen and follow your heart.
- I believe that the most important thing is that the music is in the focus and that we share our love towards it. I believe that we are all more fulfilled when we can share our happiness with others. I would love to convey that to people when I am on stage.
Have you ever doubted that you would be able to persevere?
Who was most happy for your success?
- It is difficult for something to distract me from following my path. I am used to going forward, and I don’t have much time for doubt.
- Success is a relative thing. It is important how a person feels. I am happy that I am able to pursue music, and I hope that I can pass that happiness onto others at least a little bit.
What is your main parameter when setting new goals?
We live online. What role does social media play in your life and your career?
How do you remember growing up? - I remember a lot, but that period of my life that I spent growing up in Sarajevan neighborhoods is certainly invaluable. You always travel due to the nature of your work. However, which destinations do you love to travel to as a tourist? - I have seen half of the world and many beautiful places. I haven’t really travelled anywhere solely as a tourist for a while. I always merge travel with performances because I usually have friends wherever I visit. I usually stay longer in some destinations. When you are with kind and relaxed people, that is the best kind of vacation. What kind of places give your soul comfort? - The outdoors. I love the mountains. I recharge my batteries quickest there. Are you especially good at something that has nothing to do with music? - I’m good with numbers. I used to work in accounting for a long time. What do you do to fall asleep more quickly? - I count from four to one, and I’m already asleep. 25

više radili Muzej ratnog djetinjstva i Historijski muzej u Sarajevu, Muzej Grada Zenice, Muzej Hercegovine u Trebinju i Muzej RS-a u Banjoj Luci.

PEOPLE ARE NOT SIMPLY NUMBERS
Tourist Destinations
Should Be Adapted to Everyone WORLD TOURISM DAY WAS MARKED ON SEPTEMBER 27TH UNDER THE THEME “TOURISM FOR INCLUSIVE GROWTH” WITH THE AIM OF EMPHASIZING THE ABILITY OF TOURISM TO DRIVE INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT AND THE ROLE IT HAS IN CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD.
TOURISM FOR ALL Tourists are motivated to come to a destination based on the attractiveness and deal it offers. Another key motivating factor is how much accessibility and adaptation to a customer’s needs a deal provides. Even though “tourism for all” is not a new concept, it has come to the foreground in the world and Europe in the last few years considering that there is a growing demand. It is estimated that 15% of the world’s population (approximately a billion people) live with some form of disability. The B&H Agency for Statistics estimates that there are more than 290,000 citizens who have the status of a disabled person 32
based on data obtained from social services and PiO funds in both entities. We have observed that disabled individuals can and wish to use touristic services, but they are faced with numerous problems.
B&H INSUFFICIENTLY ADAPTED TO DISABLED INDIVIDUALS Although B&H is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees equality and access to sports, recreational, and tourist services, it is still not doing enough to improve the mechanisms that would bring tourism closer to this category of visitors.
The fact that tourist organizations in our country do not deal with the issue of disabled individuals enough is wrong, foremost from an economic aspect because we do not use the potential of that target group enough. It is also wrong due to the inhumanity of the issue because our disregard for the disabled community also shows our disinterest, lack of education, ignorance, and disinterest in following global trends. Tourist organizations in our country have so far had no interest or inquiries about special tourist events for disabled individuals, but this is because we have nothing to offer this group of individuals other than rehabilitation services or spa treatments.
“THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK BEYOND TOURISM STATISTICS AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PERSON BEHIND EACH NUMBER.” Zurab Pololikashvili, SecretaryGeneral of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) In our country, tourist attractions are mostly inaccessible to people with disabilities, whether they are natural or cultural-historical attractions that have architectural barriers. This has additionally been the case with restaurants and hotels, although there have been continuing advancements in offers by those who have adapted services to this category of visitors. Apart from the introduction of elevators, the installation of access ramps for wheelchair users, and adapted bathrooms, there has been no other advancement to facilitate access to many places for disabled individuals. Cultural institutions and service facilities that have guides or offers in Braille for the visually impaired are rare. We do not even have tourist guides who know sign language to present offers or take those with hearing impairments on tours. Due to the inaccessibility of tourist destinations in B&H, one gets the impression that disabled in-
dividuals are undesirable guests, but developing accessibility for all touristic facilities, products, and services should be the central focus of responsible and sustainable touristic politics and development in BiH.
POSITIVE EXAMPLES Museums and cultural institutions have worked on the question of developing services for disabled individuals the most. The Sarajevo Youth Theater is the first theater in B&H that is fully adapted for people with disabilities. It has places accessible for people in wheelchairs as well as recommended places for people with hearing disabilities. Several museums throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina have made progress in adapting institutions for this category of visitors by introducing tactile exhibits (exhibits that can be felt and touched by the visually impaired), tablets with audio guides, hiring sign language inter-
preters, and removing architectural barriers. The War Childhood Museum and the History Museum in Sarajevo, the City Museum in Zenica, the Herzegovina Museum in Trebinje, and the Museum of Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka have worked on such adaptations the most. The project Mali ambasadori Sarajeva, which was launched in 2019 by the association of the same name in cooperation with the travel agency Insider, is also commendable. It is a project that includes free walking tours for children. They have organized tours for children with Down syndrome several times, which demonstrates that the association wanted to show that all children have the right to adequate accommodation. During this year, a cafe by the name of “Kutak sreće’’ was opened in Široki Brijeg, which is staffed by individuals with developmental disabilities and purposefully adapted to the needs of the Association of People with Disabilities ZHK.

Zaposlenici

Museums in BiH
Adapted for Disabled Individuals TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN OUR COUNTRY ARE MOSTLY INACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY ARE NATURAL OR CULTURALHISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS THAT HAVE ARCHITECTURAL BARRIERS. THE NOBLE MISSION OF IMPROVING SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA HAS BEEN MOSTLY UNDERTAKEN BY MUSEUMS AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. Author: Semra Hodžić
WAR CHILDHOOD MUSEUM This Sarajevan museum, which houses collections of personal belongings, stories, audio and video testimonies, photographs, letters, drawings, and other documents that evoke a unique experience of growing up in the war, is making many strides in facilitating access for people with disabilities. The museum provides an elevator and bathroom for people with disabilities as well as a sign language interpreter. The museum also conducted an accessibility assessment, after which they plan to adapt the exhibition with Braille guides, audio guides, as well as tactile exhibits (exhibits that can be felt and touched by the 38
visually impaired). Employees of the museum have also gone through an internal education program on the inclusion and accessibility of the museum, and they plan to enrich its content and inclusive workshops.
THE HISTORICAL MUSEUM The Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the heart of Sarajevo, provided a tactile space that was opened in 2014 as part of the “Dotakni historiju” (“Touch History”) project with the goal of bringing Bosnia’s cultural and historical heritage closer to people with disabilities - especially to the visually impaired. Additionally, a tactile mural, the first of its kind in
Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been erected in the museum’s garden to represent a form of visual art adapted for the visually impaired. In addition to standing on the wall as a work of art, the mural has its own tactile parts and audio description for the visually impaired, who will be able to perceive what the mural represents through touch.
THE CITY MUSEUM OF ZENICA The City Museum of Zenica, which has been inheriting the history of the city of steel for 55 years, has also enriched its work by adapting it to disabled individuals. The museum has tablets for digital content

promotion, sign language interpreters, and tactile exhibits. Additionally, the City Museum participates in the employment program for people with disabilities, which is funded by the Federal Fund for Employment and Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities.
THE MUSEUM OF REPUBLIKA SRPSKA The Museum of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka also boasts a reputation for adapting its museum for disabled individuals. The museum has tactile exhibits that require an announcement in preparation for display. The museum also has a
machine that can be used to prepare materials in Braille for the visually impaired as well as professional guides leading workshops organized for disabled individuals. Previously, the museum has organized an inclusive class and events for children with developmental disabilities, and this year, a Children’s Week was organized for them as well.
THE HERZEGOVINA MUSEUM The first museum in Trebinje has been officially included in the list of the 61 most prestigious museum institutions in Europe in the year of 2020, according to European Muse-
um Forum estimates. The museum has tried to bring its work closer to disabled individuals; even in 2011, in cooperation with MDGIF, the museum installed a mobile climber with a light folding wheelchair to support access for disabled individuals. They are currently working on the realization of a project with the support of the RS Ministry of Education and Culture entitled “Culture Without Barriers - Installation of a Mobile Transport System for Wheelchair Users.” Additionally, in front of the permanent exhibits within the corridors of the museum, there are boards printed in Braille for the visually impaired to use. 39

DANKA SAVIĆ, ambasadorica BiH u Kraljevini Španiji
U zemlji
impresivnih kontrasta
PRIJE DIPLOMATSKE KARIJERE, DANKA SAVIĆ JE SKORO 20 GODINA PROVELA U NOVINARSTVU, ČIJE POGLAVLJE ZATVARA KAO VIŠE PUTA NAGRAĐIVANA NOVINARKA. MAGISTRICA EVROPSKIH STUDIJA POSLIJE TOGA POSTAJE UPOSLENICA MINISTARSTVA VANJSKIH POSLOVA BIH. NAKON ČEŠKE I SLOVAČKE, IMENOVANA JE ZA AMBASADORICU BIH U KRALJEVINI ŠPANIJI, GDJE JE LJETOS POSTALA POČASNA ČLANICA DIPLOMATSKE AKADEMIJE KRALJEVINE ŠPANIJE Razgovarala: Elma Zećo / Foto: Privatni album
D
Zadovoljna sam onim što sam do sada postigla, posebno kada imamo u vidu i okolnosti u kojima sam radila protekle dvije godine.

Mješavina kultura kršćanske, arapske i jevrejske čine Španiju neopisivo lijepom i zanimljivom. Ogromnim dostignućem, koji me fascinira, smatram postignuti napredak u posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća.

i povezati naše ljude širom svijeta. Naša dijaspora predstavlja ogroman potencijal BiH i trebamo uraditi sve da razvijamo i održavamo jake veze s našim ljudima i u zemljama gdje njihov broj nije veliki. A šta Vam najviše nedostaje? – Naravno, moji najbliži i prijatelji, iako mi vrijeme toliko brzo prolazi

DANKA SAVIĆ, the Ambassador of B&H to the Kingdom of Spain
In a Country
of Impressive Contrasts
BEFORE HER DIPLOMATIC CAREER, DANKA SAVIĆ SPENT ALMOST 20 YEARS IN JOURNALISM, WHICH IS A CHAPTER SHE CLOSED AS A MULTI-AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST. AFTERWARDS, THIS GRADUATE OF EUROPEAN STUDIES WAS EMPLOYED IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF B&H. AFTER SPENDING TIME IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA, SHE WAS APPOINTED B&H AMBASSADOR TO THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN, WHERE SHE BECAME AN HONORARY MEMBER OF THE DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY OF THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN THIS SUMMER. ong before she started working in diplomacy, Danka Savić kept up with the topic of foreign policy as a journalist and traveled a lot. She only realized how much experience she gained as a journalist for almost 20 years when she became an ambassador in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in 2013. “While my appointment as ambassador may have seemed like a surprise, I felt it followed the natural course of things. After starting to work as a diplomat, in addition to cultural and other promotions of B&H, I worked on topics very important to me as a journalist, primarily the Euro-Atlantic integration of B&H. I even went back to the places I reported from. For example, I used to come as the only person from B&H to Bratislava for years when the security forum of Globsec was held, and after I was appointed in the Czech Republic, I became a nonresident ambassador in the Slovak Republic, so during my time in office in these countries, I still continued to attend this security forum, the second most important one in Europe. Journalism has helped me do my diplomatic work more successfully and professionally “, says Danka, who became an ambassador in the Kingdom of Spain in 2019.
THE OLIVE COUNCIL Which goals did you set to accomplish when you started working as ambassador and how close have you come to achieving them?
- There is almost no profession that looks as attractive and prestigious to many who don’t work in the field as diplomacy does. However, hard work is involved beyond everything else, and it takes time to see results. In addition to your own efforts, you need other circumstances to help you. The main task of each ambassador is to better represent his or her country in the institutions of the country he or she is going to work in, to work on strengthening bilate-
ral cooperation in all areas possible, but each country has its own specifics which determine your priorities. In Spain, I was very engaged in the process of having B&H become a member of the Olive Council, which I find extremely useful for my country. I did everything in my power to make this happen. Once the steps have been taken, our institutions need to do their part of the job. My initiative has received su-
pport, but the procedures leading to membership need to be completed. I hope that will happen while I am in Madrid. Furthermore, it is extremely important for me to reach an agreement regarding the recognition of driver’s licenses, which B&H has been trying to obtain for a long time. Upon my arrival in Madrid, I renewed the negotiations; we drafted a new agreement and the text is being adjusted. We are waiting for this work to be completed and technical preparations to be made for its implementation. These are just two examples that demonstrate how everything is achieved very slowly in this field and how it does not depend only on the diplomat who initiates such things. Promoting B&H culture is also one of my priorities. I am satisfied with what I have achieved so far, especially when we consider the circumstances in which I have worked for the past two years. I would like to emphasize the exhibition of the Sarajevo Haggadah facsimiles, which received huge publicity in the local media, the British Guardian, and a recently opened exhibition in Andalusia by B&H photographers as well as an online exhibition by sculptor Adis Fejzić. What impressed you most during your time as ambassador? - This country is really impressive in itself. The mixture of Christian, Arab, and Jewish cultures make Spain indescribably beautiful and interesting. I consider the progress made in the last few decades a huge achievement; it fascinates 45

me. Since the beginning of its democratization in the late seventies and its entry into the EU in 1986, Spain has been completely reborn and modernized in every way. Its example is instructive and inspiring for countries going through that transition. What projects do B&H and Spain best collaborate on? - Spain is very proud of its role in peacekeeping missions in B&H; around 46000 Spanish soldiers have participated in them for almost 20 years. It also participated in the post-war reconstruction of B&H. It made significant contributions to the reconstruction of Sarajevo City Hall, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Mostar, and the construction of the Spanish Square also located 46
in Mostar. Spain also assists B&H on a multilateral basis through the institutions of the European Union among other things. We have strong connections; Sarajevo is a sister city to Barcelona and Madrid. Recently, we had an announcement about a joint candidacy for the 2030 Olympic Games of Barcelona and Sarajevo as well as for the reconstruction of the bobsled track on Trebević needed for the event. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our bilateral relations. How much do you cooperate regarding tourism? - Every year, at the FITUR tourism fair, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, we have representatives from B&H. We had several conver-
sations and plans for tourist promotions, but due to the pandemic, we were unable to do anything more in the past two years. We are working on the promotion of publications about the tourist potential of B&H, and we are looking for a way to translate a part of it into Spanish. Tourism is an area which we want to really improve on. Madrid is also the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which B&H is a member of. In addition to all of that, Spain is of interest for another reason: this country is practically Europe’s entrance for everyone who comes from Latin America, which is a large but undiscovered market for us. Until the pandemic, a significant number of Spanish believers visited Međugorje, and the first group of Spaniards to visit B&H a few months ago was a group of believers, who arrived in Mostar on a charter flight with the intention of visiting Međugorje. Recently, we have been recording a large number of calls from Spaniards, who are seeking out information about our country because they have a desire to learn more about B&H. As of this year, we have the Honorary Consulate of B&H for the Spanish regions of Andalusia, Valencia, and Murcia in the city of Alicante, and we have initiated the establishment of an airline to connect our countries and establish the best possible conditions for tourism cooperation.
A SMALL B&H COMMUNITY The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our world picture. What does life in Spain look like today? - In recent months, incomparably better; I would say that life is slowly starting to look like the pandemic is behind us. Spain has gone through a complete lockdown and is among the top list of countries in terms of the number of vaccinated citizens;

more than 80% of the population is fully vaccinated. Although it is a nation known for how much it loves life, going out, gathering in restaurants, and socializing, it is to be commended that its citizens showed a high level of discipline and responsibility during the pandemic. This was one of the most affected countries, but the introduced epidemiological measures were respected. Even today, when the situation is incomparably better, a significant number of people on the street wear a mask and respect social distancing.
Spain, and my efforts are to make all of our citizens feel welcome in the embassy. Immediately upon arrival, I organized a reception for our citizens, and I use every opportunity to be in contact with them. Of the approximately 3500 Bosnians and Herzegovinians who came to Spain at the start of the war in B&H, most have Spanish citizenship today. According to the statistics of the Kingdom of Spain, about 1200 of our citizens live here, but, unfortunately, there is no association that connects them.
A LOVING ENVIRONMENT
How many B&H citizens live in Spain?
What in Spain reminds you of our country?
What do you think the highlight of your career is?
- In addition to the constant need to work on changing the image of our country, it is of great importance for our diplomats to gather and connect our people around the world. B&H expats represent a huge potential for B&H, and we need to do everything to develop and maintain strong ties with our people, including in countries where their numbers are not large. There is a very small community of our people in
- People here are cordial, open, and friendly like in our country. As a stranger you feel comfortable. I think that such hospitality is present in our country.
- It was a great honor for me to become an honorary member at a solemn ceremony in Madrid held at the beginning of July this year on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Diplomatic Academy of the Kingdom of Spain.
And what do you miss the most? - My loved ones and friends, of course, although time passes by so quickly that I find it hard to believe that I have been here for two years.
What is your favorite corner currently? - I love Madrid’s museums, especially the Prado. What profession did you daydream about as a girl? - About archeology. The first book I read as a little girl dealt with Egyptian pharaohs, and discovering ancient worlds and cultures has been appealing to me for as long as I can remember. Just like traveling.
What is your greatest wish? – To be surrounded by people I love and to do things that I find useful and valuable. 47
BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA / BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
DNK BIH
Najomiljeniji
bosanski kralj i kraljica
TVRTKO I - NAJMOĆNIJI BOSANSKI VLADAR
U NJOJ SU BILA SAHRANJENA TRI BOSANSKA KRALJA: STJEPAN OSTOJA, TVRTKO II KOTROMANIĆ I STJEPAN TOMAŠ KOTROMANIĆ. JEDINI U POTPUNOSTI OČUVANI OBJEKT U BOBOVCU JE MAUZOLEJ KOJI JE KRALJICA KATARINA PODIGLA KRALJU TVRTKU NAKON NJEGOVE SMRTI. 49
BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA / BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
BOSNIAN-HERZEGOVINIAN DNA
THE MOST BELOVED Bosnian King and Queen
OCTOBER IS THE MONTH IN WHICH WE REMEMBER THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGURES OF THE MEDIEVAL BOSNIAN KINGDOM— TVRTKO I KOTROMANIĆ, THE FIRST KING WHO WAS CROWNED IN OCTOBER, AND KATARINA, THE PENULTIMATE QUEEN WHO PASSED AWAY IN OCTOBER.
THE MOST BELOVED BOSNIAN QUEEN In Bosnian kings’ capital—Kraljeva Sutjeska—from 24-26 October every year women wear black, i.e. folk costumes, because that is when the anniversary of the death of Queen Katarina, a woman with a big heart, is celebrated. She was made blessed, and that is why there is a statue of her inside and in front of the Church of the Franciscan monastery of St. John the Baptist. On 25 October 1478, far from her children and homeland, Katarina Kosača Kotromanić passed away. She embodies nearly all Bosnian identities: she was the daughter of a Bosnian Christian father and an Orthodox mother, and was she also the wife of a Roman Catholic, which is why she is said to represent Bosnia in miniature. 50
Katarina was born and raised in Blagaj, as the daughter of Stjepan Vukčić Kosača, a prominent Bosnian nobleman, and Jelena from the noble house of Duke Balšić of Zeta, the granddaughter of Serbian Prince Lazar. She was the wife of Stjepan Tomaš Kotromanić, the prominent heir to the throne, and
“I bid thee farewell, my magnificent Bosnia, and I bid farewell the three of my goods: wheat from Liješnica, fish from Bukovica, and water from Radakovica, because there are no such things anywhere else in the world.”
with their marriage Herzegovina and Bosnia were unified. Katarina spent most of her childhood in Blagaj, her hometown, and when she got married she lived at the Bobovac Royal Court. In marriage, she gave birth to a son, Šimun, and a daughter, Katarina. Her peaceful life as the queen and widow with two children did not last long, because only two years later the Ottomans conquered Bosnia. Stjepan Tomašević lost his life in that invasion. Katarina’s two children were taken into slavery, while she herself managed to escape to Dubrovnik. She remained there as a representative of the Bosnian Kingdom for three years in vain, waiting for any news about her children that she would never get to see again. She left Dubrovnik in 1466 and settled permanently in Rome.
EVERY YEAR, ON THE OCCASION OF THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE CORONATION OF KING TVRTKO AND ON THE STATEHOOD DAY OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, THE AZIMUTH 135 ASSOCIATION FROM ZENICA ORGANISES HIKING TOURS TO BOBOVAC.

THE BOSNIAN ROYAL CROWN AND THE ROYAL TOMB CHAPEL WERE KEPT IN BOBOVAC. THREE BOSNIAN KINGS WERE BURIED THERE: STJEPAN OSTOJA, TVRTKO II KOTROMANIĆ, AND STJEPAN TOMAŠ KOTROMANIĆ. THE ONLY FULLY PRESERVED BUILDING IN BOBOVAC IS THE MAUSOLEUM THAT QUEEN KATARINA BUILT FOR KING TVRTKO AFTER HIS DEATH. TVRTKO I—THE MOST POWERFUL BOSNIAN RULER Every October we also remember King Tvrtko. In the long and rich history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, his name is written in golden letters, because Tvrtko I Kotromanić made the Banate of Bosnia the strongest kingdom in the Balkans from the second half of the 14th century to
the second half of the 15th century. The Kingdom of Bosnia was established on 26 October 1377 when Tvrtko I was crowned in Mile, not far from Visoko. Medieval Bosnian borders have been largely preserved to this day. From being a boy with the title of Ban, Tvrtko became the first and most influential Bosnian king. The fact that Tvrtko was a great ruler and leader is confirmed by records
which indicate that the Kingdom of Bosnia became a significant factor in international relations, and Tvrtko’s palace became a place of diplomatic activity of countries whose officials had to consider Bosnia as a serious actor in the events of that time. Bosnian King Tvrtko I enjoyed an international reputation. Tvrtko I also contributed to political stability, and there was significant cultural and spiritual progress, which made Bosnia the most powerful South Slavic country and Tvrtko the greatest ruler in the history of medieval Bosnia and even later. During Tvrtko’s rule, Bosnian towns developed, trade and mining flourished, and economic power is best reflected in the fact that the Bosnian gold coin was four times the size of the Ottoman one. 51

BOSNA I HERCEGOVINA / BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
The Chestnut Festival This autumn, more than ever, Cazin will be all about chestnuts. The “ChestFest” Chestnut Festival will take place at Alija Izetbegović Square in the heart of the town, from 25-31 October. The people of Cazin will gather around there to celebrate their “tree of life”. The festival will begin with a children’s play titled “In Search of Accommodation” on 25 October, and then an educational workshop about chestnut trees covering chestnut tree reproduction and importance, as well as differentiation between natural and fake honey, will be held on 26 October. Children from the Hasija Omanović Orphanage will make chestnut figures in a creative workshop held at the square, whereas students attending a secondary vocational school focusing on the craft of cooking food will prepare various chestnut dishes such as purees, cakes, savoury dishes, etc. The association of beekeepers from Cazin and cultural and art groups will have a chance to present their products allowing visitors to enjoy traditional food from Krajina and top quality chestnut honey. All visitors can expect a rich cultural and art programme: performances by cultural and arts groups, students attending Primary Music School in Cazin, and by local musicians and bands, as well as a large outdoor party for all age groups. As the icing on the cake, a trail walk will be organized along the “Chestnut Forest Trails” en route from the Stovrela picnic area to Krčani.

CHESTFEST
AT THE END OF SPRING, THE FORESTS OF CAZIN ARE BRIMMING WITH SWEET CHESTNUT TREE FLOWERS, THE FRUITS OF WHICH ARE HARVESTED IN AUTUMN AND USED TO MAKE A RANGE OF PRODUCTS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATING WITH THE CAZIN AREA FOR CENTURIES, PARTICULARLY CHESTNUT HONEY WHICH HAS WIN OVER THE TASTE BUDS OF PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. WHEN CATKINS ARE HANGING, THE PEOPLE OF KRAJINA REJOICE Chestnuts cannot grow everywhere, so the people of Cazin are quite rather proud because it can grow in their town. When catkins start hanging from chestnut trees, the people of Krajina feel incredibly happy, so the old adage goes: When catkins are hanging, the people of Krajina rejoice. Cazin has been blessed with temperate climate, altitude, and 56
rich soil which allows chestnut to grow. Cazin is the largest area in where chestnut grows Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of the rare ones in Europe. A number of healing properties are linked to it. It also has a high nutritional value which is why it is quite important in the local inhabitants’ diet—in the autumn and winter season they eat various chestnut-based dishes. The people of Cazin make it a point to make the absolute best honey there is—chestnut honey.
THE FIRST BRANDED PRODUCT FROM B&H Cazin is the largest honey producer in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the best ones in Europe. Chestnut honey is the first product of animal origin in BiH to be labelled with the name and registered as “Protected Geographical Origin”. This international designation guarantees that chestnut honey originates in the Cazin region and gives assurances to consumers that it is authentic
chestnut honey from the Cazin area and that it satisfies the strictest criteria. This success is attributed to the “Chestnut” Association of Beekeepers. A group of enthusiasts founded the association in the 1950s. It has become a res-
pectable a ss o c i a tion that brings together beekeep e r s , provides training and professional development for its members, and tries to protect this particular product which is unlike any other product on the market. Cazin’s chestnut honey received the highest ratings in all honey fairs, which is why they decided to protect it. Namely, according to honey quality standards, to be labelled as chestnut honey,
honey has to contain a minimum of 85% of pollen grains of chestnut, and Cazin’s chestnut honey contains between 96 and 98% of pollen grains of chestnut, which is means that it is of excellent purity and uniformity. This is because at the time of flowering chestnut bees are not attracted to anything else in nature but chestnut flower since all other plants have already completed the blooming stage at that point. Chestnut honey from the Cazin region is quite special because of the environment which has a direct influence on its properties. Unlike other honeys, it has a bitter taste and a darker colour. Due to its exceptional quality and content of proteins, amino acids, pollen grains and vitamins, it is used to treat diseases of the digestive tract. 57

JAJCE

jeku gradska tvrđava, zidine starog grada Komotina, Vinca i crkvi poput Presvete Bogorodice. Osmanlije su Jajcu dale konačan izgled, ovakav kakvog ga danas znamo – pod bedemima tvrđave stare bosanske kuće: Burića, Kapetanova, Omerbegova..., a onda džamije: Esme Sultanije, Dizdareve... 63

Through the Eyes of Kings
KINGS WALKED THROUGH THE STREETS OF JAJCE BEFORE YOU. IN CEREMONIAL ATTIRE OF LONG MANTLES FRAMED WITH GOLD THREAD, THEY WATCHED THE LANDSCAPES THAT DELIGHTED ANYONE WHO VISITED THE CITY. JAJCE STILL HOLDS ITSELF IN A KINGLY FASHION; YOU WILL MEET ITS ANCIENT SOUL IF YOU HEAD TO DISCOVER ITS 30 NATIONAL MONUMENTS. Author: Semra Hodžić
THE OLD FORTRESS What would a king look at when he would wake in the old fortress in the morning? At the waters that surround Jajce? The peak of Huma or Ranče? At the city that descends towards Pliva? Or unknowingly, perhaps, towards the place where he would be buried? Even today this medieval fortress boasts the most beautiful view – primarily of the old Bosnian houses, the clock tower, and then everything reaching the Orthodox Church of Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Fransciscan monastery, which contains the bones of Stjepan Tomašević, the last Bosnian king. His coronation was held near the fortress in the Church of St. Mary (Fethija or Sultan Sulejman Mosque) that contains the Bell Tower of St. Luka, which is a significant cultural monument of this region. When you set foot into this fortress, you will feel kingly walking 64
past the entrance embellished with the Kotromanić family’s crest from the 15th century. This happens to be the only preserved royal entrance in Bosnia and Herzegovina—a view you simply cannot!
“It is made of rock and on rock and because of that, it is lasting and eternal – the only things that pass are time and the waters of Pliva and Vrbas.” -Ćamil Sijarić THE CHURCH CARVED INTO STONE Before you climb down the old fortress, make sure to visit the famous catacombs! They are in an underground church carved into stone, which was built more than 600 years ago. Duke Hrvoje Vukčić
Hrvatinić ordered the construction of the catacombs as a final resting place for his family. The catacombs are lit by little lamps; until you peek inside, you won’t see the curiosities that hide within. Like the old fortress, they are protected as a national monument of B&H. You can visit them every day of the week, and the entrance fee is only BAM 2.
THE TREASURE THAT FED US In an age of kingdoms struggling to survive and cities expanding, food was a priority. In order to grind grain and wheat, watermills were built near rivers. There are approximately ten mills that were built on the river Pliva that are preserved today, and the locals call them Mlinčići. The scene of those mills is like one that could be found on a postcard from Austria-Hungary back in the day: you will find wooden mills surrounded by cas-

cading water with paddling ducks and a neatly-designed park with benches, a summer bar and much greenery–a breathtaking view that will not leave you indifferent. The watermills can be found in the immediate vicinity of the Pliva Lakes, and as a unique cultural landscape, are preserved as a national treasure of B&H.

WHERE DID ALL OF THESE MONUMENTS COME FROM? In every age, whoever passed Jajce left their trace in the city as well as a part of their legacy. The Roman
Catholic cemetery in Jajce attests to ancient times, and the Middle Ages are etched into the city fortress, the walls of the ancient cities of Komotin and Vinac as well as the churches such as the one of The Most Holy Mother of God. The Ottomans built the Jajce we see today— the Jajce surrounded by the walls of the ancient fortress that belonged to the ancient Bosnian houses of Burić, Kršlak, Omerbeg; the Jajce embracing the ancient mosques of Esma Sultan and Dizdar; all telling their own stories. The Austro-Hungarians modernized the ancient city, giving it elementary schools, new buildings to regulate finances, railway stations, Sarač house and the like. And during the time of Yugoslavia, the AVNOJ House was built, one of the few museums in Europe dedicated to anti-fascism as a global phenomenon and a place that, eight decades ago, lended the beginnings of the creation of SFR Yugoslavia.
The oldest national monument in Jajce is the Temple of Mithra–a cave carved into the rocks. It is a unique monument that depicts the god Mithra dressed in a fluttering Persian cloak, holding a bull by the snout with his left hand while stabbing it in the heart with his right and leaning on it with one knee. A glass structure was built around the monument, which makes the sight 65

PERUĆICA Situated on a Dinaric mountain boasting the highest peak of Bosnia and Herzegovina Maglić at an altitude of 2,386 metres, Perućica is the best known primeval forest in our country. Protected as a strict natural reserve and inscribed on the UNESCO Tentative List, it is the most precious jewel in the crown of natural treasures found in the Sutjeska National Park. Tucked away deep in the forest, on the Perućica River, there is the magnificent 70-metre high Skakavac (Grashopper) Waterfall. It is a natural gem, a geomorphological monument of nature. In the foothills of Mount Maglić sits Lake Trnovačko—a natural heart-shaped phenomenon. Perućica is a self-sustaining primeval forest, which means that if a tree falls, nobody will move or remove it. It will stay there until it decomposes.

JANJ Janj Primeval Forest is the first natural asset from Bosnia and Herzegovina inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List as an expansion of the existing protected property called “Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe”. Located in Šipovo Municipality, Janj Primeval Forest is a strict nature reserve extending over an area of 295 hectares, of which 58 hectares were set aside and any use of forests and human activity there is prohibited. Beech, fir, maple, elm, ash, and spruce trees grow in it. In the wider area, there is the Pliva River and Pliva Lake, the Vrbas River, the Sana River, and Janjske otoke—a real natural miracle of the karst world. The nearest urban centre is the town of Šipovo which is located at a 100-kilometer distance from the nature reserve.
BOBIJA

One of the largest primeval forests in B&H is situated in Mount Grmeč area, in Sanski Most Municipality. It stretches across an area of more than a hundred hectares. Bobija Primeval Forest is composed of beech, fir, white pine, black pine, oak, maple, elm, ash, and spruce trees. Some trees are more than 500 years old. Near Bobija, another natural phenomenon can be found—Bobijaško oko (Bobija’s Eye).
Tropical rainforests play a vital role in in sustaining life on Earth. They do not only produce a lot of the freshwater we drink, they also absorb a huge amount of carbon dioxide, help to stabilise Earth’s climate, and are home to half of the world’s plant and animal species. In the past 40 years, deforestation has caused possibly a billion hectares of forest area, the equivalent of Europe, to disappear. The International Day for the Conservation of Tropical Forests is held every year on 14 September. Underscoring the threat to tropical forests, it is a chance to take action to conserve or restore these ecologically valuable forest ecosystems. 69

Jedinstvena je to prašuma gdje visina pojedinih stabala doseže i do 40 metara, komadić netaknute prirode u kojoj čovjek nije imao nikakvu, osim naučnu intervenciju. S Bjelašnice kroz prašumu možete prošetati do Igmana. RAVNA VALA It is not commonly known that the slopes of Mount Bjelašnica hide a unique primeval forest—Ravna Vala, the only primeval forest in Sarajevo Canton. Some trees in the forest as high as 40 metres. It is a small area of intact nature where there has been no human intervention at all apart from scientific research. In addition to other wild animals, Ravna Vala Primeval Forest is home to the brown bear (Ursus arctos)— the largest wild animal in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a large number of endemic and relict species. You can walk through the primeval forest from Mount Bjelašnica to Mount Igman. The path runs for eight kilometres and is suitable for families with young children along its entire length. Forest tree species that grow in Ravna Vala Primeval Forest are fir and beech trees, but spruce and maple also grow here and there. There are various types of mushrooms there, including a few that are quite rare, and 35 types of lichens are found there. 70

PLJEŠEVICA While some say that Mount Plješevica, sitting just outside of Bihać, dates back to between 1,000-3,500 years, others claim that it originated around 6,000 years ago. As it is true with many other places in B&H, various legends are told about Plješevica Primeval Forest, of which the best known is that of “witches” being burnt alive in the forest. That is why this place was called Vražiji vrt (Devil’s Garden) in the Middle Ages. Most of the terrain on the northern and middle ridge of Mount Plješevica is covered in thick beech and fir trees, whereas its southern stretch is covered in grasslands. Ten endemic species, for example red primrose (Primula portenschlagiana), plješivički klinčac (Dianthus monanthos) are also found in rock crevices at higher altitudes. In the Bosnian-Herzegovinian stretch of Plješevica Primeval Forest there is another exceptionally rare species—a species of tree known as baljevac which is several hundred years old. Built under a veil of secrecy at the foot of Mount Plješevica, Željava Airport is considered to be one of the largest and most heavily fortified underground military airports in Europe. 71

PREDSTAVLJAMO / INTRODUCING
BLIDINJE
NAJUNIKATNIJI SMJEŠTAJ SA #MADEINBIH ETIKETOM JE SPAVANJE U BAČVI NA BLIDINJU KAO U POPULARNIM WESTERN FILMOVIMA. BARREL LAND Zamislite tu magiju: okruženi predivnim planinskim vijencima Čvrsnice, Čabulje i Vrana, s voljenom osobom sjedite u jacuzziju i uživate u pogledu na prekrasno Blidinjsko jezero!

Spending the Night in a Barrel and Taking a Bath in a Jacuzzi under the Stars
BARREL LAND Imagine the how magical it must feel to be sitting in a Jacuzzi with the person you love savouring the view of the gorgeous Blidinje Lake and the surrounding stunningly beautiful mountain chains of Čvrsnica, Čabulja, and Vran Mountain. In addition to a one-of-a-kind Jacuzzi, there is a dedicated lounge and grill area, and a hammock which is quite popular with guests.
SLEEPING IN A BARREL NEXT TO BLIDINJE LIKE IN THE POPULAR WESTERN FILMS IS THE MOST UNIQUE ACCOMMODATION THERE IS WITH THE #MADEINBIH LABEL
There is no TV or internet connection at the site so you will be able to boost and replenish your energy in the fresh mountain air and breath-taking scenery.
DIY PROJECT Two students, Vedran Miletić and Frano Šarić, are behind this idea. They wanted to create something unique which has the minimal environmental impact. They figured out a way to keep the barrel warm and cool in natural way, and they made their own wood-burning furnace to heat the water for the Jacuzzi. They chose Blidinje Nature Park because it is very popular in the winter and summer season, and because it offers plenty of activities for visitors—walking trails, lakes, mountains, medieval tombstones, food, and adventure tourism. The owners have a gift for each visitor—a selection of locally made products. For the time being, you can find detailed information about the accommodation and book your stay on Instagram @barrelland.blidinje. 77

Najljepši pas na svijetu B
osanskohercegovački pastir‑ ski pas tornjak s imenom Sevdah Tor Shadow of Stone osvojio je titulu najboljeg psa u svojoj pasmini (Best Of Breed) na prestižnom takmičenju FCI World Dog Show 2021 i tako osvojio naslov svjetskog prvaka.
Kennel “Od Burzića”, uspio pokazati svoju narav, karakter i prezentirati svoju autohtonu pasminu.

The Most Beautiful Dog in the World
B
osnian and Herzegovinian shepherd dog of the Tornjak breed named Sevdah Tor Shadow of Stone won the Best of Breed award at the prestigious FCI World Dog Show 2021 winning the world champion title. The competition took place in Brno, Czech Republic, where this dog champion, owned by the Burzić family from the town of Bužim and coming from a dog breeding kennel called Kennel “Od Burzića”, demonstrated his temperament and
character, and showed what this autochthonous breed is all about.
A SHEPHERD DOG When travelling through Bosnia, particularly its mountainous areas, you cannot help but notice a flock of sheep or a trip of goats, peacefully grazing in pastures under under the watchful eye of a graceful dog. The dog is Tornjak, an autochthonous shepherd dog breed that originates from Bosnia and Herzegovina which has been protecting livestock against thieves and large predators
such as wolf and bear since the 11th century. This is a large, strong and well-built dog standing at between 60 and 75 cm in height. The Tornjak is parti-coloured. The dog is quite resilient and enduring with modest need for food and shelter. It is an excellent swimmer. This breed of guard dog is very determined and fierce in protecting its family and flock and driving away strangers seemingly without any aggression, and it is super protective over children. It also appeared on a Bosnian-Herzegovinian postage stamp. 79

Naravno, i

FAP-ov AUTOBUS POSTAJE KUĆICA Anjine i Strahinjine avanture nisu prestale ni dolaskom djece – Ognje-
TRAVEL BOSNA IBLOGGERS HERCEGOVINA / BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
REPLACING THE STANDARD LIFESTYLE WITH A NOMADIC ONE, THE BELGRADE COUPLE TRAVELED THE WORLD IN A VAN, WHICH THEY CONVERTED INTO A HOME ON WHEELS. THE ADVENTURES DID NOT STOP WHEN THEY HAD CHILDREN, WHO AWAKENED IN THEM THE DESIRE TO SHOW THEM WHAT THEY SAW FOR THEMSELVES AND MUCH MORE.
“We know the exact moment when we realized that it would be possible to leave our jobs and continue to live, so to speak, without a permanent address. That happened six years ago, when we were returning from a wedding in Montenegro in October, and on that Saturday evening somewhere in Žabljak, a difficult wasteland, our tire burst. We only had a card with us - no cash - and one bottle of whiskey in the trunk. The whiskey did its job; the local vulcanizer accepted it as legitimate currency and still gave us some change! That’s when we realized that the barter economy still exists and that we could travel by paying for accommodation and food by offering apartment owners better photos of accommodation, or optimizing Facebook, Instagram, Booking or Airbnb pages with some better and more digestible text and pictures,” are the words with which the Belgrade couple Anja Vuković and Strahinja Ta88
nasković begin, bloggers who do not leave anyone indifferent to their stories of nomadic lifestyle and travels. Before forming the Whatifness concept, a thoughtless movement, Anja lived in London from which she returned for about a year before meeting Strahinja on Tara. With her friends, she founded a small company called Daskka, which produced handmade boards for serving food, while Strahinja, as he jokingly says, was slaving away from 9 AM to 21 PM as a copywriter at an agency. As they travel nowadays, they make a living by writing texts for ads, taking pictures of products for clients’ Instagram profiles, and collaborating with various brands that appear as sponsors on their personal profiles.

As they had no money to pay them, they gave them their converted van to sleep at a luxurious location while they worked for them - a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean, where their camper was parked. “That’s when we fell in love with this way of traveling. We realized that we would not have to pay for accommodation traveling this way, which would make the trip even easier and cheaper. We had to give up marginal things for us, say, a daily shower and oven, but we got disproportionate space under the wheels. We couldn’t do without a third member, our baby dachshund, Šnjura, who has been with us everywhere since then. ”

A COLLISION WITH A PORSCHE IN CENTRAL LONDON “We remember the day, which we still celebrate today, when Strahinja carelessly drove into the latest Porsche as she was going in reverse at a very large intersection in the center of London while she was humming. We all, of course, emerged from the experience without a single scratch, but we were worried that the repairs on the Porsche would cost us the whole van, our home. However, after two days of anxiety, we received mail from the owner’s insurance company that we only needed to pay £29. It goes without saying that we were relieved. ” Anja and Strahinja renewed the van with the help of Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and the skillful hands of a man who did not know them, but after hearing their story, decided to help. This endeavor brought changes in his life as well, because after that, he himself started to take requests to renew campers. They traveled from Cambodia to Cuba, which delighted them because of the countries’ passion and instant intimacy with foreigners and reminded them of the Balkans. However, the country they prefer to revisit is Portugal, which is definitely a paradise for “vanlifers” due to the hospitality and easygoingness of its citizens. 90

because a place had seemed insufficiently safe, and the nature of the small space taught them to resolve all disagreements on the fly immediately.

“By giving up the concept of the standard lifestyle, we got the opportunity to experience what we experience as freedom - the opportunity to raise the metaphorical anchor and change your environment whenever you want. But what is much more important than changing your environment is the confidence we have gained - that we can achieve anything we set our minds to do if we try. ”
Anja and Strahinja’s adventures did not stop with the arrival of their children - Ognjen and Ada, who awakened in them an even greater desire to show them everything they had seen and more. In the meantime, they have adopted another dog, so there are six of them now. They are reluctant to take a break from traveling, but when bad weather sets in, they admit that it is difficult to camp. “If it were still just the two of us, we would go, for example, to Sardinia, somewhere towards the south, but the babies are still too small and need a little more stability than us old people. We are leaving again in the spring. ” Living in the van, Anja and Strahinja were not exposed to great trials. They had to repark several times,
When asked about their plans for the future, they answered: “Such that make our parents just roll their eyes (laughter). We just bought a 30-year-old FAP bus that we plan to convert into a comfortable cottage. Our wish is to find an ideal location somewhere in Serbia to park it and, when we are not traveling in our camper, to spend time in legendary Sanos busses that have a magnificent view of nature.”

Senote (cenotes) jedinstvena krečnjačka, podzemna jezera Jukatana

Bez prsluka nije dozvoljeno plivati u podzemnom jezeru.
koje posjećuje veliki broj turista. Prirodni bazen slatkovodne vode ovdje je prilično veliki, a samu senotu okružuje džungla kojom šetaju iguane i putić kojim je moguće obići oko čitavog jezera. Jezero često posjećuju ronioci, koji uz boce s kiseonikom istražuju pećine u dubinama krečnjačkih jezera.
BAZENI TIRKIZNOZELENE BOJE
Jukatanom su sve do X vijeka nove ere vladale drevne Maje, a u džunglama poluostrva žive jaguari i pume, kvecal, are i flamingosi, tapiri i simpatični koatl (nalik rakunu). Na obalama Meksičkog zaliva, u lagunama žive krokodili i veliki broj raziličitih vrsta ptica. 105

A SURPRISING DISCOVERY The Chicxulub crater was formed at a time when dinosaurs disappeared from Earth. When the site of the impact was found in the second half of the 20th century, it was a surprising discovery because the meteorite crater is extremely well hidden under a soft and very thick (around a kilometer deep) layer of limestone rocks. However, along the region of Yucatan, traces of craters can be seen on the surface in the form of a large number of very deep and large sinkholes filled with water called cenotes, which are naturally aligned along the edges of the crater’s basin. The Yucatan Peninsula has a net of underground rivers and cold freshwater lakes that can be seen inside limestone caves, which are called cenotes. Interestingly, over 6000 cenotes exist only on the Yucatan Peninsula and nowhere else

The ancient Mayan civilization traditionally used them as sources of drinking water but also as holy places. In the craters, inside the basins within the caves, Mayan relics used for rituals were
OVER 6000 CENOTES EXIST ONLY ON THE YUCATAN PENINSULA AND NOWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD. discovered, which can be found today in museums all over Mexico. In the Mayan dialect, the word cenote (Ts’ono’ot) means “a hole filled with water.”
SWIMMING IN THE UNDERGROUND LAKES During my stay in the Yucatan, I visited several very different underground freshwater limestone lakes and swam in each of them. Today,
the cenotes are one of the biggest attractions of this peninsula, and they are visited by an extremely large number of tourists. Yucatan is the sixth most visited tourist region in the world, and Mexico as a country ranks seventh. The underground limestone lake Suytun (Cenote Suytun) is considered one of the most photogenic limestone caves in the Yucatan region with its natural freshwater basin filled with dark-turquoise water. It is interesting that this underground cave with its lake is completely underground - almost without a light source - and it can be reached by stairs. The only ray of light, which penetrates the ground and is seen in a dark environment above the turquoise color of the water, falls exactly on the place in the lake that is built like a stage, where people often wait in lines to take photos. Like other cenotes, the complex has an arranged entrance where 107

visitors are charged an entrance fee not far from the crater itself. Instead of a ticket, we were given a paper bracelet (like in all-inclusive hotels) that you can use to move around the complex, use lockers to leave belongings, and use toilets and locker rooms. After you take off your bathing suit in the locker room, you must first take a shower and put on a protective swimming vest. It is not permitted to swim in the underground lake without a vest.
THE TURQUOISE-GREEN BASINS The underground limestone lake, Cenote Eden (Cenote Jardin del Eden), is not as popular as some other lakes, but swimming in this lake is much more relaxing than in those visited by a large number of tourists. The natural freshwater basin here is quite large, and the 108
cenote itself is surrounded by a jungle, where iguanas can be seen, and a path that can be used to walk around the entire lake. The lake is often visited by divers, who explore the caves in the depths of the limestone lakes with oxygen tanks.
YUCATAN IS THE SIXTH MOST VISITED TOURIST REGION IN THE WORLD, AND MEXICO AS A COUNTRY RANKS SEVENTH. The underground limestone lake Ik Kil (Cenote Ik Kil) is considered one of the most beautiful limestone caves with its natural basin of turquoise-green water. This cenote is known for its incredible color and beautiful long vines but also as a place of history. This cave, which
reaches depths of up to 26 meters, was visited by Mayan pilgrims in ancient times, who sacrificed objects and people here in honor of the god of rain, lightning, and storms (Chaac). Many valuable relics, which were found at the bottom of the pit, are kept today in history museums throughout Mexico. As in the case of other cenotes, this underground lake is reached by going downhill using a staircase. With its nature and cultural heritage, the Yucatan region is one of the most interesting parts of the planet. It was ruled by the ancient Mayans until 10th century AD, and jaguars, pumas, quetzals, macaws, flamingos, tapirs, and adorable coatis (raccoon-like animals) live in the jungles of the peninsula. On the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, crocodiles and a large number of different species of birds live in the lagoons.

GODINE, NUDI USLUGE RJEŠAVANJA TIH ZDRAVSTVENIH I ESTETSKIH PROBLEMA U BOLNICAMA ŠIROM TURSKE, S VISOKOM STOPOM USPJEHA I RAZUMNIM NAKNADAMA.
Opadanje kose predstavlja samu regeneraciju kose. Uprkos medicinskim tretmanima, u slučajevima kada opadanje kose traje, jedino i definitivno rješenje je transplantacija kose hirurškim metodama: transplantacija folikularnih jedinica (FUT) i ekstrakcija folikularnih jedinica (FUE).

MEDICAL PARK
Hair Transplant Procedures and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
POPUAESTHETIC SURGERY PROCEDURES ARE ON THE UPSWING AMONG WOMEN AND MEN ALIKE. MEDICAL PARK, A LEADING HEALTHCARE PROVIDER IN TURKEY, WHICH HAS BEEN OPERATING IN THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR SINCE 1995, OFFERS MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IN TREATING HEALTH AND AESTHETIC ISSUES IN HOSPITALS THROUGHOUT TURKEY WITH A HIGH SUCCESS RATE AND AT REASONABLE PRICES.
A GROWING TREND Derived from the Greek word meaning “the art of modelling”, plastic surgical procedures have been on the rise for years. Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the reconstruction of skin and tissue defects caused by trauma, surgery, or birth disorders. It aims to restore normal form and function of damaged skin, and to enhance the appearance of parts of the body. Even though cosmetic or aesthetic 114
procedures are the most frequently performed plastic surgery procedures, surgical procedures do not always have to involve cosmetic surgery. They may involve reconstructive and cranio-maxillofacial surgery, hand surgery, microvascular surgery, and burn surgery.
HAIR LOSS Alopecia, a common aesthetic issue affecting people as they age, causes hair to fall out. Hair loss can also be described as the regeneration
of hair. It is normal to shed between 80 and 100 hairs a day. Losing more than that is not normal and requires treatment. When hair loss persists once the medical treatment is finished, the only viable solution is hair transplant surgery which is performed using two principal methods: follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). Some patients require the use of both methods at the same time and the aim is to collect a maximum number of hair roots.
HAIR TRANSPLANT PROCEDURES We cannot prevent hair loss, but we can decide if we want to have hair or not. Hair transplant procedures are growing in popularity as an option for both men and women. During a hair transplant, hair follicles are removed from the back of the head in the area between the two ears where hair has not started to shed and are transplanted to the area of thinning or balding. The procedure is performed using a local anaesthesia, takes a few hours, and is not painful. There is nothing for you to worry about. It is normal to have a pink scalp for a few days after the procedure. There are no scars or stitches, and the transplanted hairs appear natural and undetectable, so you will be able to leave the hospital immediately after surgery. Medical Park has 15 years of experience in hair transplantation. The cost of the procedure depends on an assessment of the characteristics of your skin and hair and the method to be used, so it is best for you to arrange a free consultation appointment to get all the information you might need from an expert. Bear in
mind that if you decide to undergo a hair transplant procedure, the cost of the procedure covers two overnight stays at a five-star hotel in Turkey, transfer between the airport and your hotel, and to and from the hospital, a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, medication, and translation services. Aesthetic Plastic Surgery If you are worried about your body image or flaws in your appearance, you can seek treatment at Medical Park. A team of highly trained surgeons will help you choose from a wide range of treatments and options best suited for your needs. Together with you, various experts will jointly develop a personalised treatment plan and provide you with feedback after each health checkup. The following cosmetic procedures are performed at the Medical Park Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Centre: breast augmentation, breast lift, gynaecomastia (male breast reduction), brachioplasty (arm lift), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), facelift surgery (lifting and tightening of facial tissue), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery),
If you are interested in some of these methods, you can reach out to Medical Park in Sarajevo. Medical Park will have your documents translated and sent to physicians in Turkey for a second opinion. Once it gets a response, Medical Park will get in touch with you and give you instructions for further treatment. liposuction, body contouring, and spider vein treatment.
zahtjevnosti i kvalitete zrna.
Uz posvećenost i ručni rad
braće Benjamina i Edisa Burića, s namještajem prefinjenog, svjetski poznatog brenda Gazzda prostor, Kawa je oaza ljepote koju oživljavaju i utopljavaju sa posebnom pažnjom odabrane biljke Plantismus Mehmeda Mešanovića. Vizuelni identitet potpisuje Studio 10.
Tamo vas čeka put oko svijeta kroz selekciju kafa, a put kroz region kroz selekciju vina, prirodnih sokova i izvorske vode. Čajeve na nedjeljnom nivou posebno bira komšija - prvi bosanskohercegovački tea sommelier iz kultne čajdžinice (Svijet organskog čaja) Franz und Sophie.

A TRIP AROUND THE WORLD THROUGH COFFEE SELECTION Kawa came to be from the des ire for dear friends to gather in a pleasant ambience and to drink, above all, top-quality coffee with a bit of unusual aromas and tones. The highest quality coffee, which comes from small producers, from microlots, and which are known for being harvested, dried, roasted as well as how they came to our table, are now available to the citizens of Sarajevo. “The journey from the farm to the mill is very long and every part of that journey is equally important. In the world of coffee, there are varieties such as Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, etc. Arabica is more valuable and grows at altitudes of 800-2,000 meters above sea level. It has more pronounced aromas of fruit, citrus, flowers as well as a mild acidity and is more expensive than Robusta due to the complexity and quality of the 120
grain. Arabica needs the sun and a constant temperature throughout the year; therefore, it mostly grows in countries located nearer to the equator. The biggest producer of coffee is Brazil “, explained the main barista of Kawa, Eldin Menzilović. Currently, Kawa offers different types of coffee from India ranging from chocolate-flavored, a kind that is less sour, 100% Arabica (without the bitterness). Kawa also offers coffee from Colombia (all of which are much bolder, full of fruity notes, have a higher acidity, and have less foam) and from Brazil. The first sip of coffee from Brazil may seem extravagant, but after the second one you feel the divine caress of its taste and the desire to continue drinking. The reason for such a taste lies in the powers of one lady, Alina Codo, or, rather, in the knowledge, dedication and attention of the fourth generation of coffee growers from the distant
Minas Gerais. When the founders of Kawa got in touch with the dedicated Alina, they knew that her attitude towards coffee was a guarantee of its extraordinary taste, and they became the first importers of this kind of coffee in Europe. It is interesting that Alina has previously visited BiH as a tourist and speaks enthusiastically about our tradition and people – everyone is equally as excited because her coffee caused the same reaction among our citizens. The climatic situation of Brazil this last year was unfavorable – Brazilian coffee farms found themselves in an unfortunate situation that involved coffee not growing due to the frost. Brazilians, like the citizens of BiH, are big fans of coffee, and in the fear that coffee would not grow, bought all the supply to secure themselves for the time being. That is why this exclusive partnership between Alina and Kawa is a special joy to us all.
care of. The desire to harmonize the quality of coffee with the experience of indoor or outdoor space, influenced the ideas of the award-winning architect, Armin Mešić, and his office, Fo4a Arhitektura, to come to life with the skill of craft of New Vision Sarajevo’s duo. With the dedication and handiwork of brothers Benjamin and Edis Burić, and with the furniture made by the sophisticated, world-famous brand Gazzda prostor, Kawa has become an oasis of beauty that has come to life with the special warming attention of the selected Plantismus plant chosen by Mehmed Mešanović. This visual identity is ascribed to Studio 10.
THE OASIS OF BEAUTY In order for the ritual of coffee-drinking to be complete, we need to find ourselves in a space where we feel comfortable, relaxed, and taken
Kawa was reconstructed in the spirit of industrial design: it spreads over 110m2, has a large garden, combines rustic and modern elements with relaxing details that will make you feel at home. Kawa
is open every day, eager for coffee lovers, but also for those who like to delight in the pleasant space of the city. There, a trip around the world awaits you through a selection of coffee as well as a trip through the region with a selection of wine, natural juices, and spring water.
