he ninth Moscow edition of the International Golden Pony ® Awards, the highly appreciated recognition for excellence of leisure parks, family entertainment centers and professionals of the leisure industry took place on March 13. The event has been organized in the Russian capital since 2011 every year by Facto Edizioni (Italy), publishers of Games & Parks Industry magazine in cooperation with the Raapa, Russian Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, to support and promote the leisure industry in Russia and all the Countries of former Soviet Union. The Golden Ponies are assigned by a special jury that refer to the editors of Games & Parks Industry. Like in previous years even this latest edition of the so-called ‘Oscars’ of the leisure industry celebrated the excellence of 10 leisure operators of the area.

The coveted Golden Pony statuettes were consigned to the winners during a dedicated gala dinner held at the Kolizey hall in front of an audience of around 300 people among manufacturers and operators of the industry, the winners and their accompanying friends, and representatives of the media. As usual the dinner and entertainment offered by the host, the Raapa, was excellent. A beautiful dance of masks in Venetian costumes in honor of Italy, the home of the promoters of the award, opened the ceremony which was enlivened by other glamorous dances too. And of course the absorbing presentation of the award winners, together with the overview of their structures and their comment on the stage warmed the atmosphere and stimulated strong emotions in all participants. “The selections for the nominees have become year after year more and more challenging due to the number and value of the candidates - affirmed Luisa Dal Bianco, the president of Facto Edizioni and of the jury of the awards - The winners in these nine years - she

Le ambite statuette dalla forma di pony sono state consegnate ai dieci vincitori nel corso di una cena di gala tenutasi alla sala Kolizey davanti a un’audience di circa 300 persone tra costruttori del settore, operatori di parchi, vincitori e accompagnatori, nonché rappresentanti dei media. Come sempre la cena e l’intrattenimento che l’accompagnava, offerti dalla Raapa, sono stati eccellenti. Ad aprire la cerimonia è stato un bellissimo balletto di maschere in costume veneziano, in onore dell’Italia, la patria dei promotori del premio, a cui sono seguiti altri entusiasmanti balli. Oltre ad essi anche ovviamente l’avvincente presentazione dei singoli premiati, insieme alla panoramica sulle loro strutture e il loro commento sul palco hanno riscaldato l’atmosfera e suscitato forti emozioni nei presenti. “Le selezioni dei candidati si sono rivelate anno dopo anno sempre più difficili a causa del numero e del calibro dei candidati - ha affermato Luisa Dal Bianco, presidente di Facto Edizioni e della giuria dei premi - I vincitori in questi nove anni - ha detto - hanno superato

said - have been no less than 100 located all over the CIS Countries and year after year the quality standards of aspirants, whatever their size and distance from central Russia, have raised tremendously so that today most of them can compete on equal terms with their best European counterpart”. And all the more so this year that saw among awardees several leisure parks being part of wider multifunctional resorts that required very big investments: namely Mriya Resort including the theme park Dreamwood, and Yalta Intourist resort, both in Crimea, and LetoLeto waterpark and Hotel, in Tyumen. Unlike previous years, where awarded indoor facilities prevailed over outdoor ones, the number of indoor and outdoor parks was balanced this year: 5 to 5. Is it perhaps the result of the great climate change which causes average temperatures to continuosly increase thus diminising the harshness of the winter season in the northern reagions? Can we expect a consequent greater development of interesting outdoor parks in this area? The next appointment in 2020 will reveal it. In the following pages you’ll find the stories of the Golden Pony ® Awards 2019 winners and the reasons why they have been awarded. n

il centinaio distribuiti in tutti i paesi dell’ex Unione Sovietica e anno dopo anno gli standard di qualità degli aspiranti al premio, indipendentemente dalle loro dimensioni e dalla distanza dalla Russia centrale, sono cresciuti enormemente tanto che oggi la maggior parte di essi non ha nulla da invidiare ai migliori parchi e centri di intrattenimento europei. Tanto più quest’anno, che ha visto tra i premiati diversi parchi che facevano parte di resort plurifunzionali più ampie che hanno richiesto grandi investimenti: Mriya Resort, che comprende il parco tematico Dreamwood, e il resort Yalta Intourist, entrambi in Crimea, nonché il parco acquatico e Hotel LetoLeto, a Tyumen. A differenza degli anni precedenti, dove le strutture indoor premiate erano predominanti su quelle all’aperto, quest’anno il numero di parchi al coperto e all’aperto era equilibrato: cinque contro cinque. È forse un segno del grande cambiamento climatico che porta a un costante aumento della media delle temperature e dunque inverni meno rigidi nelle regioni settentrionali e di conseguenza un maggior sviluppo di parchi outdoor di grande interesse in quest’area? Il prossimo appuntamento nel 2020 risponderà forse a questo interrogativo. Key attractions comprise a 200-m long Lazy River, a 750-sqm wave pool, 11 water slides for a total of over 1,5 km and one of the largest kids area in Russia (measuring 1300sqm).
