Francesca Eastwood in all Dior
Photograph by Robert Lynden
t’s always a pleasure to welcome back a familiar face, and this issue marks Francesca Eastwood’s third appearance in GENLUX , but her first time gracing our cover. Captured through the lens of Robert Lynden, this shoot took place at his West Hollywood studio, a stone’s throw from the Roxy and the legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill— an enduring staple for rock enthusiasts traversing LA. This time, we had the privilege of collaborating with UZO , a true visionary in makeup artistry who has since launched her own successful skincare brand. Her impeccable technique elevated the shoot, while Robert Steinken, our trusted hairstylist, channeled a ‘60s-inspired look that harmonized flawlessly with the Dior ensemble. When the idea of giving Francesca some fringe surfaced, she embraced it with fearless grace, allowing Robert to work his magic. Meanwhile, our talented nail artist, Amber Studer, delivered a series of chic transformations that, dare I say, nailed it! The stylist for the day, Julia Varavkina, orchestrated a series of standout looks featuring CHANEL (on our cover), Givenchy, Stella McCartney, AWAKE Mode, and Louis Vuitton (p106) . We hit up Lynden once again to cover our story on denim, teaming up with stylist Lisa Smith Craig for a shoot in Beverly Hills (p72).
Of course, no Fall Fashion issue would be complete without a spotlight on accessories, and this one is no exception. The talented photographer Tatsuro collaborated with makeup artist Yoshie Kubota to create a captivating beauty feature that questions if, some day, AI robots will apply your makeup ( p48) James T. Murry joined forces with stylist Yuco Lacovara to highlight the season’s coveted handbags and belts (p40).
Our commitment to delivering a rich tapestry of fashion narratives is unwavering. This month, our Executive Fashion Editor, Mindy Saad, curated a selection of stories that bring together both established and emerging talents. Returning for his second consecutive issue, John Van Der Schilden brings his distinct perspective to the pages of GENLUX (p62) , while James Weber, a new addition to our roster and a remarkable artist/photogra-
pher, makes his debut with his brilliant photos focusing on shoes and boots (p80) Interestingly, both chose the rooftops of New York City as their stage, and were accompanied by Paul Venoit, the Canadian makeup artist whose humor is as sharp as his skills.
Jessie Ajluni, our invaluable Market Editor, brought in veteran GENLUX photographer Holly Parker to spotlight some of Louis Vuitton’s brightest looks from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Fall Winter 2024 collection (p80) , marking Ghesquière’s 10th year with the brand as their artistic director. Their fantastic photographs were shot at New York’s Hall des Lumières which is renowned for its digitally immersive exhibitions, curated by its creator, Culturespaces.
We were also honored to be approached by the team at Louis Vuitton to feature their new season’s leather goods. In our exploration of the roots of the Louis Vuitton monogram, we were drawn to the “Japonisme” movement of the late 1800s. After over two centuries of seclusion, Japan opened its doors to the West in 1858, sparking a fascination with its art, design, architecture, and fashion—a fascination that inspired French critic Philippe Burty to coin the term “Japonisme” in 1872. As the first to introduce an AI model on the cover of a print fashion magazine ( GENLUX Spring 2023), I felt compelled to dive back into MidJourney to create images inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, blending them seamlessly with a curated selection of Louis Vuitton handbags through the art of Photoshop ( p54).
As this AI phenomenon pushes the boundaries of our imagination, teetering on the edge of both thrilling innovation and, yes, a bit of trepidation, we’re cautiously embracing it. And, as we look to the future, it is clear that fashion and technology will continue to intersect in bold and unexpected ways. Enjoy! G
The fact that Hermès named a bag after the actress Grace Kelly is proof enough that she was not only Princess Grace of Monaco but an American style goddess. Her perennial beauty and charm continue to radiate from the screen in classics like Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, and High Society. But Grace was a multifaceted gem, choosing paths as diverse as royal life, art, fashion, and motherhood in Monaco. Her legacy lives
on in current fashion and accessories that mirror her style.
The Princess Grace Foundation USA, a beacon of support for emerging artists in theater, dance, and film, has unveiled the Grace de Monaco luxury home and fashion collection. With 100 percent of the profits from gsmonaco.com generously reinvested in the arts, a testament to the foundation’s unwavering commitment to artistic expression.

LLOUIS VUITTON
ASNI ÈRES ATELIER; BELOW: ARTISANS METICULOUSLY CRAFT THE BESPOKE LOUIS VUITTON VICTORY TRUNKS.
ouis Vuitton has just dropped the LV Art Silk Squares, a collection of scarves that might make you question whether to wear them or frame them. Five renowned contemporary artists—eBoy, the German pixel-art wizards; Icinori, the eclectic Franco-Japanese-Spanish duo; Lorenzo Mattotti, the visionary Italian illustrator; Nicolas de Crécy, the celebrated French graphic novelist; and Thomas Ott, the Swiss maestro—have turned these silk squares into their personal canvases.
These artists, who previously lent their talents to Louis Vuitton’s Travel Book series, took inspiration from the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram flower. The illustrations were sent to Como, Italy, where each design was meticulously printed onto silk with Louis Vuitton’s usual level of care and craftsmanship. After multiple layers of color and some serious hand-sewing, the squares emerge—each an elegant statement piece.
The collection is the latest jewel in a crown of collaborative projects that have seen celebrated artists weave their magic onto Louis Vuitton’s silk squares. The legacy began in 1987 with The Silk Road collection, inviting artistic luminaries such as Arman, Sandro Chia, Arata Isozaki, Sol LeWitt, and James Rosenquist to imprint their talent onto a carré. Over the years, silk squares have been designed by Andrée Putman, César Baldaccini, and Philippe Starck. In 2013, Louis Vuitton unveiled a new vision for its silk squares with Foulards d’Artistes, featuring works by street art legends like Os Gemeos and Retna. Today, the full collection of artist-designed silk squares from across the decades is on display at LV Dream, an exhibition at Louis Vuitton’s headquarters in Paris.
This limited-edition collection continues Louis Vuitton’s tradition of blending haute couture with high art. Both the silk squares and the travel books are available in Louis Vuitton stores and louisvuitton.com
In the realm of digital art, few have left a mark as indelible as the trio behind eBoy. Founded in 1997 by Kai Vermehr, Steffen Sauerteig, and Svend Smital, their signature pixel-art aesthetic has achieved global recognition. With the creation of “Maze of Precious” for Louis Vuitton, eBoy brings their iconic Pixorama style. This carré is not just a scarf—it’s a visual symphony.
At its heart lies the LV logo, encircled by a labyrinth of fabric textures ranging from twill to satin. Embedded within are elements of the timeless Louis Vuitton Monogram, like the quatrefoil and rounded flower, which interweave with vibrant pixelated flora and whimsical, geometric insects. The eBoy team has also illustrated the Louis Vuitton Travel Book on Tokyo.
Parfums de Méditerranée
Silk Square by Nicolas de Crécy
Nicolas de Crécy, the French graphic novelist renowned for his surreal narratives, ventures into the olfactory paradise of Provence with his Louis Vuitton carré, “Parfums de Méditerranée.” This silk square draws inspiration from the gardens of Grasse, where Louis Vuitton’s fragrances are born. De Crécy’s whimsical style transforms this landscape into a vivid panorama, where majestic mountains meet intricate depictions of scent-filled flowers. The Monogram pattern subtly weaves through the scene, creating a harmonious blend of nature and luxury. de Crécy also illustrated the Louis Vuitton Travel Book on Mexico.
Malles Monde Silk Square by Icinori
Renowned for their ability to blend traditional artistry with modern narrative flair, Mayumi Otero and Raphaël Urwiller of Icinori have made a name for themselves in the world’s most esteemed publications and galleries. Their latest work, “Malles Monde,” crafted for Louis Vuitton, is an homage to the Maison’s rich trunk-making heritage. This silk square bursts with life, illustrating trunks in full bloom, adorned with Monogram symbols and entwined with lush vegetation. Through vibrant colors and intricate designs, Icinori captures the essence of Louis Vuitton’s Art of Travel, reflecting the perpetual journey and evolution of life in Seoul, Korea.
Iris Spring Silk Square by
Lorenzo Mattotti, a master of dreamlike illustrations, known for his work in celebrated comic books and top-tier publications, lends his poetic vision to Louis Vuitton with “Iris Spring.” This carré is a tribute to the iris, inspired by the Art Nouveaustained glass in the Maison’s historic Asnières home. Framed by a kaleidoscope of multicolored trees and a cascading waterfall, the iris emerges as the centerpiece in a breathtaking fantasy. Mattotti’s use of colored pencils and pastels breathes life into this ethereal landscape, making it a must-have for art lovers and fashion aficionados alike. He illustrated the Louis Vuitton Travel Book on Vietnam.

24 GENLUX FALL 2024
Swiss artist Thomas Ott, known for his stark black-and-white visual storytelling, brings a touch of the surreal to Louis Vuitton with “Urban Flowers.” Using his signature scratchboard technique, Ott crafts a delicate chiaroscuro scene that juxtaposes the harshness of urban life with the transformative power of nature. Flowers emerge as symbols of resilience and the indomitable human spirit, creating a striking contrast between the gritty and the graceful. Ott illustrated the Louis Vuitton Travel Book on Route 66.

This year marks the first full collection, including an earring, bracelet, and pendant, all engraved with “LEARN,” reflecting Brown’s advocacy for children’s rights. Francesca Eastwood , daughter of actors Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher, is carving out her own path, with a strong emphasis on both family and fi lm. She shines in her latest starring role as a charming sociopath in Clawfoot on AppleTV, a dark comedic thriller, and you’ll fi nd her in the 46th (and rumored to be the last) fi lm directed by her father, Juror #2, coming soon.
Your GPS? You and I are at my home in Bel Air.
You’re wearing? It’s a hot summer day, so I’m wearing white linen. Yesterday was the big premiere for my boyfriend’s movie, Flycatcher, a thriller about organ harvesting.
Your beau? Alexander Wraith. We’ve been together for seven years. I think we dated for maybe a month, and then it happened— I got pregnant.
Your son? His name is Titan. He’s fascinated and curious about filmmaking, so I do what my parents did with me. I take him on set with me, and he learns about shots, scripts, and storylines.
Marriage plans? I don’t know. I leave that up to Alex. I’m traditional in that sense. I’m just waiting.
Eastwood card? If anything, being Clint Eastwood’s daughter made me self-conscious, and I didn’t want people to know, so I never played that card. It wasn’t until I got older that I had so much love for my parents and forgiveness. They’ve given me an amazing life and are the most wonderful grandparents to my son. I am so proud of them and proud to be their daughter.
Parent’s movies? I’ve not watched all of them. I recently started watching the Dirty Harry movies because my son likes them. He loves his grandpa, though his films give him a bit of an attitude. He’s even called me punk a few times.
Bullying stories? Sure, I was bullied for being Clint Eastwood’s daughter. They would yell out his name during sports to make fun of me. When MySpace came out, I was bullied because of my wideset eyes. They called me ‘fish.’
I got it mostly from older girls, which I find strange because it’s like, hey, shouldn’t you pick on someone your own size? If I’m bullied now, I don’t care.
Your childhood?
separated when I was one, so I lived between my mom’s home in Pacific Palisades and my dad’s in Carmel by the Sea. I got in a little bit of trouble, so they panicked and sent me to a therapeutic boarding school in Arizona for a few years. Just before that, they sent me, by force, to a wilderness program in Utah, where I became good at following the rules.
By force? It was funny because I’d just snuck back into the house after visiting the neighbor I had a crush on. We were up until about 3 in the morning. He played the guitar, and it was such a romantic and beautiful night for me. At 4 am, these big people came in and handcuffed me to take me away. They flew me to Utah, where they blindfolded me and took me out in the middle of nowhere to be with a group of troubled girls. Many of the girls were older than me, with severe addiction problems and horrible, traumatic lives. Until then, I lived a very sheltered life.
Good outcome? Yes, because it exposed me to many of the world’s horrors and the realization that I didn’t have it so bad. But would I do that to my child? No. I was there for three months. Backpacking, sleeping in a tent, and hiking every day. I remember I broke a rule and had to dig eight holes. I was like, I am, literally, in the movie Holes. I remember they’d take your shoes at night so you couldn’t run away.
Bright side? It was a beautiful place. The Utah mountains are stunning. I learned some adventure skills, like building a fire and cooking. It taught me how to read people and to adapt. Maybe it’s not the best thing to encourage, but it’s been great for acting.
Any resentment? Yes! So when I returned, I was pretty wild, but I hid it very well. I did lots of partying, drinking, and drugs in my teens and early twenties.
Your heroes? I had a lot of great sports coaches growing up. I played softball and soccer. I was horrible when I first started softball, but I had an excellent coach and would practice for hours, and I got good enough to make the all-star team. I went from being the worst player to being one of the best. I played first base. My other heroes were my older sisters, Laurie and Allison.
Any hobbies? Well, it’s been about 11 years, but I just picked up my old film camera, so I’ve been shooting a lot. You know, you forget to have hobbies when you have a child. My other hobby is work because I find it doesn’t feel like work...most of the time.
Latest film? Clawfoot. It’s very different because it has a unique rhythm that I’m not used to, including comedic timing. It’s not a straight thriller. It has an unrealistically dark and twisted ending. Ironically, the film’s director, Michael Day, is a positive and happy guy.
Parental critiques? My dad is easier on me than my mom. My mom will compliment me but be more critical—positive criticism, of course. And then my dad is a bit more biased—he thinks everything I do is great.
Your superpower? I can move huge pieces of furniture by myself.
Best trait? Friends always tell me I’m very generous. [When I asked Francesca’s mom, she said Francesca’s best traits were her sense of humor, empathy, and being a great mom.]
Character change? I want to lose my self-doubt. I need to listen to my instincts more. I’m very confident but also very insecure, so I overthink a lot.
Flower or gardener? In my relationship, I’m the flower. My boyfriend is my shield, my protector. He’s this amazing family man who prioritizes his family above all.
Self awareness? When I’ve made a mistake, I’m the first to say, hey, I’ve made a mistake. I like that feeling of taking accountability. It’s empowering.
DIY skills? I’m a huge DIYer! I’ve painted nearly every room in this house. I love going to Ace Hardware, Home Depot, or the mom-and-pop shops.
Podcast favorites? Jordan Peterson, Lex Fridman, Andrew Huberman, and Joe Rogan. The only Rogan episode I won’t listen to is when my brother, Scott, was on because I heard they were talking a lot about girls and sex and stuff. I was like, ew.
Binge watching? I binged the first two seasons of Killing Eve, Scandal, The Diplomat, and Servant on Apple TV—twice.
Scary movies? It’s funny, but despite growing up on set and knowing the camera is there, and knowing it’s only great makeup, I get so scared at horror movies. I get totally sucked in, and I can’t be like, oh, it’s just a movie.
Trouble sleeping? Yes, I have what’s called sleep paralysis. It’s where your mind wakes up to a conscious state, but your body is in full-body paralysis. When it happens—and it happens every few weeks for me—you know that you’re in sleep paralysis, but you can’t move, and you can’t speak. It’s a feeling of impending doom. It’s one of those things where I’m like, okay, I know this is happening, so I need to ride this out. It feels like it lasts forever, but it’s probably only a minute or two.
Stress relief? I write hour-byhour instructions to myself, which calms me.
Any tattoos? I have a compass on my arm, and when I was 16, I got a smiley face inside my lower lip. I have a small circle on my finger, but I want to remove it because now it looks like an egg.
Charity work? My mom and I are on the board of the Environmental Media Association. We do a lot of fundraising and educational programs, like planting gardens in schools to teach kids about organic farming. It’s rewarding to see how these initiatives can make a differ-
ence. Our family is involved in the Eastwood Ranch Foundation. The animal rescue and adoption center, designed to look like a Western set, will open in September in Agoura Hills (eastwoodranch.org).
Nail salon? Bellacures.
Skincare routine? I’m a skincare addict. I break out easily, so it’s a lot of CeraVe and La RochePosay, and U Beauty. I love taking a hot 20-minute detox bath using Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath. It’s tough to sit through, but after you rinse off, you continue sweating for about an hour and feel elated.
Next films? Running on Empty, then we have Queen of the Ring, which I’m very excited about. But best of all, I’m in my dad’s next movie, Juror #2, which he directed. It’s the first time we’ve worked together since I was a kid.

Who else is excited to get their hands on these comfortable and voluminous shearling jackets, coats, bags, and even shoes made with faux fur and feathers? Some of my favorite cozy outfits for this fall are the dusty pink coat from Michael Kors and the sherling jacket from Zimmermann. There are so many trends this season that I can’t get enough of. Hall des Lumières - located opposite the City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan - is housed within the former historic headquarters of the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank. Created by Culturespaces as a permanent center for custom-curated immersive experiences, the Hall des Lumières has a surface area of 2,940 m² (appx. 31,650 square feet) on two floors of the seventeen-floor building. It was originally the largest bank in the United States when it opened in 1912.
In the main exhibition room on the ground floor, the immersive digital art experiences are perfectly integrated into the rich decor: the bank’s walls, columns, bronze counters, marble floor, and original decorative elements. The experience continues on the level below, where a mezzanine overlooks the area and the bank’s massive safe deposit vault, which has remained open.
Hall des Lumières is renowned for its immersive exhibitions, all curated by its creator, Culturespaces, the pioneer in the creation of digital art centers and digital immersive exhibits with 9 venues around the world. Beyond its exhibitions, this dynamic space also serves as an event venue, attracting a diverse clientele from various industries, including prestigious brands in lifestyle, fashion, and music.
Three exhibition areas: ground floor, basement and safe deposit vault

Sleeping Beauty may be a fairy tale, however research confirms beauty sleep is a real thing. Essential for every organ of the body, including the skin. As we sleep, the body undergoes healing and regenerative processes. Knowing this, we can prepare our skin by treating it with a sleeping mask. Below are my favorite nightly treatments to start a day with a radiant glow.
Uneven skin tone can be due to too much sun, hormone fluctuations, or breakouts, can leave small pigmented areas on your skin. If that’s the case, or perhaps you just want an extra glow, you must reach for the Shiseido White Lucent Overnight cream & mask. This product was specifically formulated to lessen hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Consistency is key. Use the mask nightly and in result, you will wake up with a vibrant and bright complexion.

PUFFY EYES? Avoid puffiness by getting adequate sleep and avoiding salty foods. Puffiness is a result of fluids accumulating around your eyes. Try elevating your head above your heart with an extra pillow. If you still notice bags under your eyes, place a cold cloth, ice pack or refrigerated spoons over the area for a minute or two.
Reactive, sensitized skin is problematic, and the cause of it varies. It can be internal. Your diet and stress can show up on your skin, or your skin can be prone to rosacea, eczema, or simply the barrier of your skin could be compromised due to over-exfoliating. Whatever the reason, the products to treat these conditions need to be gentle and, at the same time,
When caring for our skin, I believe in being preventive and conservative with what we use to enhance our skin. Nevertheless, areas like crow’s feet, smile, or frown lines need extra care as the natural facial movements create creases. The brand 111SKIN created a perfect solution, self-dissolving skin patches infused with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C. Each patch has 150 micro
cones of pure ingredients. When placed on the skin, they dissolve to deliver active ingredients directly to areas that need them. After using these patches, your skin will feel plumper and brighter. I like to use them in preparation for special occasions.

result-driven so your skin gets back to its equilibrium. The Elta MD Skin Recovery Night Mask strengthens the skin barrier, visibly reduces the appearance of redness, and improves hydration. My go-to for the skin to become well-rested. Ninka B. recommends: EltaMD Skin Recovery Night Mask $54, eltamd.com

To prep Francesca’s skin, I applied 1-2 drops of UZO Stem Cell Serum Complex cleansed—but still damp—face and pressed the serum with my fingertips until fully absorbed to smooth and firm the skin’s surface. I followed with 2 drops UZO Stem Cell Moisturizer onto the cheeks and forehead for additional hydration and luminosity. I wanted very minimal eye makeup for this look and used the highlighting blush duo I used on the cheeks (the beigetaupe side) to add the lightest hint of nude on the upper eyelid. Then applied a black-
