STEPHEN KAMIFUJI CREATIVE DIRECTOR’S NOTE

My two favorite commercials of all time share a distinctive allure—cinematic brilliance, impeccable style, and unforgettable soundtracks. Having watched these spots dozens—if not a hundred times—it’s no coincidence that I may have manifested the talented cover star of this issue.

Let’s rewind to 1990, when the visionary JeanPaul Goude crafted a masterpiece for CHANEL ’s Egoïste fragrance. Picture a grand five-story facade in Brazil, evoking the iconic Carlton Hotel in Cannes, reimagined with 32 French doors. In a theatrical flourish, models in CHANEL couture fling open the doors, passionately denouncing a man who dared to disappoint. Then, in a moment of pure cinema, a mysterious hand emerges, casually placing a bottle of Egoïste cologne on the balcony. The scene’s intensity is magnified by Sergei Prokofiev’s Dance of the Knights —dramatic, brooding, and utterly unforgettable.

Fast forward two decades to the genius of Joe Wright, the auteur behind Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. For CHANEL, he cast Keira Knightley in not one but two dazzling campaigns, both brought to life by the soulful vocals of, yes, our brilliant cover star, Joss Stone. In 2008, Wright’s vision paired Knightley with Joss’s soulful rendition of “L.O.V.E.”, Nat King Cole’s classic reimagined with sultry grace. A few years later, Joss returned with It’s a Man’s World, a smoldering take on the James Brown anthem.

So, when Full Scope publicist Chad Schubert suggested featuring Joss on our cover, the decision was immediate. Weeks later, Joss was radiant in front of Holly Parker’s lens, styled to perfection by Lisa Smith Craig in Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Stella McCartney at SUR , the iconic Lisa Vanderpump-designed LA restaurant. The shoot was perfect, supported by an exceptional team—

Darrell Redleaf on makeup, Robert Steinken on hair, and Amber Studer on nails (p84).

Then, to bring things full circle, SUR co-owners Guillermo and Nathalie Zapata graciously agreed to host our issue release party.

Just weeks before our celebration, Joss and her husband, Cody DeLuz, adopted a new addition to their family: a precious newborn named Bear, joining their growing brood of three on the way to—if Joss is to be believed— seven. Between motherhood, a new tour kicking off in January, and managing over 200 charities through her Joss Stone Foundation, she’s a wonder of modern multitasking.

Across the country, our creative teams delivered nothing short of magic. In Bellport, Marc Baptiste captured Wilhelmina model Amber Larson for a luminous 12-page story, styled by Mimi Lombardo (p32). Meanwhile, Tatsuro Nishimura conjured frosty fantasies in his studio, crafting ethereal backdrops for Louis Vuitton’s Resort ’25 handbag collection (p100).

In Manhattan, Mary Fix and Jessie Ajluni embraced autumn’s romance, photographing Supreme Model Jiwon Ra amidst a symphony of fallen leaves (p56). On the West Coast, Lake Arrowhead provided a serene escape for our Louis Vuitton Resort shoot, where photographer Nathalie Gordon and stylist Lisa Smith Craig transformed a modern lakeside home into a fashion haven (p68).

It’s now 1:39 a.m. as I type these final words, preparing to send the issue to print. If you’re holding this magazine at our December 19th party, know it’s a labor of love, a celebration of beauty, and—most importantly—for you. Enjoy. G

David Lim’s CV reads like a Hollywood treatment— an electrical engineer who swapped circuits for scripts, transitioned from mortgage broker to model, and now stars in his 8th season playing Victor Tan on the CBS police drama S.W.A.T. His unconventional journey kicked off in San Ramon, California, where he juggled sports and studies. “I was the kid who played every sport,” he laughs, “but never thought I’d be here discussing my own jewelry line.”

The line is Maya David, the collection he shares with his wife and co-creator, model Markéta Lim (her Czech nickname is Maya). The couple’s love story began when they met while both modeled for Macy’s Passport fashion show in 2013. Their whirlwind romance across cities culminated in a storybook wedding in Prague in 2019.

Last year, life threw the pair a curveball when they were victims of a home burglary. Their cherished jewelry collection— gifts exchanged over the years—gone. Instead of caving to sadness, they channeled their inner creatives.“We’re positive people who always seek the silver lining, so we started crafting jewelry pieces that meant something to us,” he explains.

Their travels inspire their collections, with each piece telling its own tale. Recently, they teamed up with One Tree Planted to plant trees for every item sold—a testament to their love for nature and desire to give back by fighting deforestation.

David shares about his recent birthday getaway to an Airbnb in Joshua Tree with friends. “We disconnected from civilization into nature. We cooked, hung out by the pool, barbequed, took in the desert vibes, and soaked up the stars—all while pondering our next collection of Maya David.”

Since bursting onto the music scene at just 15, Grammy-winning powerhouse Joss Stone has captivated us with her soulful voice and magnetic charm. But it’s her work offstage through the Joss Stone Foundation—supporting over 200 charities worldwide—that’s equally impressive. Now a loving mother of three, the British beauty opens up as she prepares to hit the road on not one but two much anticipated U.S. tours.

Your GPS? I’m at home, just outside Nashville, in my little nursery.

Your home? It’s a three-bedroom nestled in the woods with lots of open grass and trees. Our neighbors are far enough away that if you play really loud music, it doesn’t bother them.

You’re wearing? I’m wearing jeans and a bright pink Beyond Lost sparkly hoodie with smiley faces made by one of my best friends, Brian Nelson, who I’ve known since I was a kid.

Everyday style? Sweatpants and hoodies. On stage, I wear colorful and flowy maxi dresses and loads of jewelry. It helps me to feel super comfortable and beautiful, you know?

Your breakfast? I had a cookie. My husband, Cody, is gonna get really mad with me when I tell you. So basically, I woke up, and Cody had the kids in the car going to the library. And I was like, no, no, I want to come. So, on the way, we stopped at Subway. I ate two mouthfuls of a sandwich and said, babe, I’m going back in to get the chocolate raspberry cookies because that’s what I really want. Not the best nutrition, is it?

Cooking skills? I love cooking and making everything from scratch—even pasta. We make fresh bread two or three times a week and have a vegetable garden where we grow cucumbers, banana peppers, and tomatoes.

Musical idols? Whitney Houston and Melissa Etheridge—those massive female voices. I also listened to James Brown and Solomon Burke. It’s really crazy because I ended up singing with James Brown, which was totally surreal. And then, I sang with

Melissa at the Grammys, and now, we have a tour coming up as well. When I was a kid, my mum told me she went to a Melissa Etheridge concert when I was in her belly. You know, you listen to music, and these artists give you a feeling and shape you, and then, 17 years later, you’re singing on stage with them.

Children’s songs? My older kids love the song “Let It Go,” which is so annoying because I don’t love that song. My daughter, Violet, is three and loves all the Little Mermaid songs. My son, Shackelton, is two, and loves “Baby Shark,” all Ms Rachel’s stuff, and the movie Wish. Call me crazy, but I take the time to study and learn those songs. Bear is just a baby so we’ll see what his music choices are soon enough.

Your blessings? 1. My voice, and 2. Parents who taught us critical thinking, how to not judge people, and the importance of being interested rather than irritated by other’s opinions. It’s been healthy for me because I have friends I love from all different places with different viewpoints.

Supportive parents? Yes, very supportive! I think they were because I was so anti-school. They were pleased that I started to sing. It was a relief that I could do something with my life other than academia.

Bullying story? I wasn’t bullied because of something my Mum taught me. She was the daughter of a Navy man and had to fight her whole childhood because they constantly moved. So when I was eight, my Mum dropped me off at a new school and said, ‘Joss, I need you to take me seriously right now, so look at me

and listen.’ I was like, oh, okay, something’s important. And she ever hear that you have hit someone, there will be so much trouble. hear that someone has hit you and you have not hit them back, there will be even more trouble, a lot more trouble than you can imagine. You don’t want to come home if that’s the case.’ So the rule was, you don’t start trouble, but don’t take it.

Your temper? No, I’m pretty calm. When I get upset about things, I get quiet. I’m not one to shout or throw anything—I just get cold as ice.

First job? Singing. I got my record deal when I was 15.

Pinch-me moment? The performance with James Brown was a bit of a moment for me because I’d been listening to him since I was a kid, and soul music was the one for me.

Favorite Tour? When we toured every country in the world—even North Korea. It’s hard to get Americans in there, but no one on our team was American at the time. I think it’s important for people to realize that you can go to any country. Like, that’s the truth. You just need the right conversations, do the proper paperwork, pay the correct visa fee—and go! I know because I’ve done it.

Next concerts? I’m super chuffed about my Christmas gig at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. I have a Christmas album called Merry Christmas, Love. So I’m gonna do that, and then at the end, we’ll do my headstone stuff, like “Tell Me ‘Bout It” and “Super Duper Love.”

Voice coach? When I was younger, I turned down being a coach on The Voice, but I’ve watched many episodes and have seen how people get careers out of it, so, yeah, I think it would be a fun— as long as I could bring my kids.

Your superpower? Ever since I was young, one of my little gifts is the ability to help people resolve issues by opening their hearts to a peaceful solution or hearing each other.

Spiritual upbringing? I put my mom in a spiritual category, while my father is a staunch atheist. He laughs at us whenever we talk about religion or spirituality. When he brings logic to me, I’m like, you know what? I prefer to keep my spiritual side. I love religions, not just one, but all of them, because I think they allow people to make peace with death. I also love going to church.

Flower or Gardener? I’m the gardener in my relationship with Cody because I always try to improve it. I think Cody’s also the gardener—he’s just more of a reluctant gardener.

Honesty trait? Some of my best friends would say it’s my best trait, but others would say it’s my worst. Some of my closest friends say, Joss, you don’t always have to tell the truth. Like, sometimes you need to shut up. So it’s a bit of both on that one.

Character change? I worry unnecessarily about the kids. So I need that to stop. When I told my mom it was stressing me out, she said, oh, Joss, that’s okay, it’s Mother Nature’s way of ensuring your children survive.  Physical change? Oh, I wish I was stronger. I’ve never really felt that I was physically strong,

“I’ve done so much stuff in my life. Having babies and being a mum is my favorite thing. Like, everyone has their thing. This is mine.”

you know? I would love to be able to do a pull-up. I can’t bear one. I’m strong of mind, but body... nah, I don’t think so. Definitely don’t think I am.

Charity work? Our world tour involved helping a charity in every country. I would interview each one for two or three hours, and at the end, I would inquire how people could donate. Most of them would say, yeah, here’s the website. But many didn’t know how people could help or donate. So I opened The Joss Stone Foundation to help these causes receive funding, and 100 percent of the donations go directly to the charities because I cover all administrative costs.

Foundation causes? We’ve helped over 200 charities. One example is a charity in Iraq called Jinda that helps women who have been abducted and trafficked by ISIS. When released, they were stuck in a refugee camp, unable to get jobs because they weren’t from there and didn’t speak the same language. We helped them gain skills as certified nail technicians so that wherever they moved, they could find work. It changed their lives.

Latest cause? I visited a baby cuddling program in Tel Aviv. In the ICU area where the tiny babies go, sometimes the parents aren’t able to be there. In some cases, the parents have sadly died or are on drugs. So, these tiny babies need to be held. Volunteers are needed to hold them. It’s very popular for the

elderly community to participate. They can carry the babies while singing or reading to them, which helps them both thrive. Some hospitals don’t have the resources to set up a volunteer program. So, some of those babies are just lying there. The nurses are needed to perform their regular duties and then have to leave the babies. So, we’re preparing a course that can be sent to any hospital to implement a volunteer program. Currently, we’re working with a hospital in Tennessee. Our goal is to take care of babies all over the world.

More kids? I always say seven because I like how people always freak out. I used it as a test when getting into new relationships. I’d say I want seven kids and a cow and then watch: Is this guy gonna run? If Cody and I have five, that would be really awesome. We just adopted a newborn boy, Bear, last week, and we’re in love big time.

Your purpose? I’ve done so much stuff in my life. Having babies and being a mum is my favorite thing. Like, everyone has their thing. This is mine.

What’s next? I have two exciting tours within the first half of the year - one is an intime show titled “Less Is More,” and the other will be with Melissa Etheridge. I’m very excited for these! I’m also hoping to make a new record next year. So hopefully just more music, more babies, and more love, and then we’ll be good. G

THE BUZZ OF CHANGE:

MY JOURNEY INTO THE MAGICAL WORLD OF BEES.

For most of my career, I’ve lived in the spotlight. As an actress, model, and on-air host, I’ve always had the privilege of being in front of the camera, portraying stories or speaking to an audience. But it wasn’t until I found myself diving deep into the world of luxury beauty—specifically researching anti-aging—that I stumbled upon something far more powerful than I could ever have imagined. A world that, frankly, changed the course of my life: the magical, mystical, and, quite honestly, humbling world of honey bees.

It all started when I was doing research for my work as the Luxury Editor for THIS glossy beautiful magazine. I was looking into all sorts of natural ingredients that were being used in cutting-edge skincare, hoping to find that next big thing that would revolutionize anti-aging. It was then that I came across something truly fascinating—honey and bee propolis. I knew honey was sweet and delicious, but what I didn’t know was just how much it did for the skin, and for the world. I learned that honey, honeycomb and propolis was being used in everything from topical skincare to medical treatments because of their anti-inflammatory properties and healing benefits. But it wasn’t just about beauty. Bees were—and are—critical to our planet’s survival.

That’s when I first began to dig deeper. The more I read about bees and their importance in pollination, the more I felt a pull. I had always considered myself someone with a deep love for nature, but I had no idea that bees were the silent warriors keeping the planet’s ecosystems intact. From the food we eat to the flowers that bloom, the survival of so many species hinges on the labor of these tiny creatures. They are, as I learned, the unsung heroes of the natural world.

I also stumbled across something alarming. Bee populations were in steep decline. The reports were alarming—pesticides, habitat loss, climate change, and invasive pests like varroa mites were causing Colony Collapse Disorder at an unprecedented rate. I was stunned. How had I never heard more about this? Bee deaths were reaching catastrophic levels, and yet, it wasn’t making the headlines as it should have. The very beings responsible for pollinating a third of the food we eat were disappearing, and no one seemed to be fully aware of the scope of the crisis.

That’s when I made a decision that would change my life.

After months of learning about the incredible power and benefits of bees, I took the plunge. I started small—just two hives. I had no idea what I was doing, honestly. The idea of keeping bees seemed like such a far-off, exotic notion. But I was determined. I sought guidance from a local bee keper Jeremy Jensen from Bill's Bees. I watched countless tutorials, and read everything I could get my hands on. The more I learned, the more I became fascinated by the complex social structures of a hive, the communication between bees, the role of each individual bee, and the dedication of the beekeepers themselves. What struck me most was that beekeepers lived longer than any other profession. Their close connection to nature, their calm and steady demeanor, and the work they did to maintain the health of their colonies seemed to have a profound impact on their longevity. I couldn’t help but think: If beekeeping could be this transformative for individuals, maybe it could help transform the world.

By the end of the first year, I went from two hives to five. It was like a snowball effect, and the more I worked with the bees, the more I fell in love with the process. By year three, I had 14 hives buzzing away on my property. I felt an immense sense of pride in what I was doing. But the reality of the situation was far grimmer than I had realized. Midway through this past summer’s honey season, I lost half of my hives. It was a heartbreaking blow, and I realized just how fragile this world of bees truly is. I had worked so hard to create a healthy environment for them, but pests like the varroa mite and the constant threat of pesticides were pushing them to the brink. By the end of this summer 2024.... I had lost 13 of my original 14 hives... signalling to me... we are in seriously deep, deep trouble.

I won’t sugarcoat it: the plight of the bees is far worse than we’re being told. We’re losing them at a rate that should have all of us in crisis mode. The sheer scale of colony collapse, where entire hives simply vanish—bees disappearing without a trace—is staggering. We are running out of time, and yet, as a society, we aren’t doing enough to address the issue. The world’s ecosystems, our food supply, and even our climate stability depend on these little fuzzy workers. We can’t afford to wait any longer.

In response, I started a mini campaign on social media to raise awareness about the dire situation of honey bees. I posted pictures of my hives, shared the real-time challenges I was facing, and called attention to the need for better protection of pollinators. But now, as I move into a new chapter, I feel compelled to do more. The truth is, social media campaigns and small-scale efforts aren’t going to be enough. We need bold action. We need change. We need to push for systemic changes—better regulations on pesticides, more widespread bee conservation efforts, and education for the general public about how they can help. It’s not just about the bees in my hives. It’s about the survival of the entire planet.

So, I’m committing to this cause in a way that I never have before. I’m going to go bigger, louder, and bolder. I’ll continue to educate, advocate, and fight for these tiny miracle workers who give so much to the world. Whether it’s through my platform as an actress, a model, or a luxury editor, I’ll be using every tool at my disposal to make sure the message gets out. We are running out of time, and if we don’t take action now, we may lose these incredible creatures forever.

Bees are more than just part of our natural world—they are an essential part of our very survival. We cannot afford to let them vanish.

I ask you, as someone who has been transformed by this journey: What will you do to help save the bees? The time to act is now.

Vitamin C is called the vitamin of youth—one of the most effective and best-studied skin rejuvenating ingredients. It quickly brings visible results by improving the quality and appearance of the skin. Because of its truly amazing skin benefits, it’s an irreplaceable part of your daily skincare regimen. Below are the five most important facts that you should know about vitamin C. -Ninka B @ninkabskin

BEST UNDER EYE PATCHES

Dry Brushing came from ancient Ayurvedic medicine. It is one of the quickest self-care rituals to practice at home before your morning shower. Use the dry brush inwards in the direction of your heart. This simple method will stimulate the lymph nodes to detoxify, enhancing blood circulation and creating smoother, more supple skin. Plus, this helps prevent cellulite. Ninka B. recommends: Higher DOSE Supercharge Copper Body Brush, $69, neimanmarcus.com

1. ANTI-AGING ACTION

I’m often asked how to effectively hydrate the thin skin around the eyes. It’s prone to dehydration, making it hard to treat effectively. My go-to favorite is Peter Thomas Roth’s Eye Patches for hydration that lasts all day. Apply in the morning before you enjoy your coffee to prepare for the day ahead. It works wonders. Gift it to yourself and everyone around you!

Collagen is a protein made from three intertwined chains, resembling a braid. When it’s tightly curled, our skin is firm and supple. Unfortunately, with age, the collagen structure loosens. Scientific research proves that vitamin C is the salvation for the effective improvement of collagen production. When used regularly, it improves skin firmness and smoothes wrinkles.

The great advantage of vitamin C is its effectiveness at brightening the skin and evening its tone. Ascorbic acid belongs to the inhibitors of melanogenesis. It inhibits the pigment (melanin) production in the skin, acting as a depigmentation agent. Thanks to these properties of vitamin C, you can e ectively fight discoloration at any time of the year.
