candinavians are known for a clean and unfussy sense of style, and this is as true when it comes to jewellery design as it is with home décor and ready-to-wear fashion. In Denmark, the nation’s leading designers favour minimal shapes and simple pieces, often inspired by nature and natural forms, that subtly show off fine metals and precious stones. Sterling silver is a much-loved material, with the best Danish labels proving that – with the right design – this metal

can be just as covetable as its golden cousin. When it comes to beautiful silver jewellery, Georg Jensen is a world leader in the field. Founded in Copenhagen in 1904, the brand is known for minimalist, sculptural jewellery inspired by natural forms. This season, look out for the Offspring collection, created in collaboration with contemporary designer Jacqueline Rabun. The central motif of the collection is an egg-shaped oval loop, which Rabun

In many pieces, two or more of the elegant ovals overlap and intertwine; for Rabun, this is a representation of familial ties. ‘The Offspring collection was born from my desire to honour the relationship between mother and child,’ she explains. ‘The connection between the small and larger eggs represents
unconditional love and the importance of one’s heritage and roots.’ Jacqueline Rabun is known for her ability to convey emotion through her designs, one factor that makes her a perfect collaborator for Georg Jensen. Lacking an official definition, natural wines are often described as wines made from organically grown grapes in which nothing has been added or removed. Trying these wines requires an open-minded approach as they can be very different from more conventional options. The choice for natural wine bars in the Danish capital is vast, making Copenhagen one of the most exciting European destinations for oenophiles. Christian Puglisi, a Noma alumnus, is one of Copenhagen’s most respected chefs and his second restaurant, Manfreds, is a great option if you want to enjoy natural wines by the glass in a welcoming atmosphere. Launched soon after Puglisi’s acclaimed flagship restaurant Relæ first opened, Manfreds was initially conceived as a wine bar and take away, and it was the first location in the city to offer a wine list completely focused on natural wines. TERROIRISTEN Located on one of modern Copenhagen’s quintessentially foodie streets, Jægersborggade, this wine bar and shop was founded by natural wine pioneer Stefan Jensen in 2008. It focuses on wine made from biodynamic and organic grapes from eastern Europe, especially Hungary, Bulgaria and Slovenia, as well as Italy. Most wines are available by the glass and the list changes regularly. Terroiristen’s philosophy is to offer outstanding wines at affordable prices, so that everyone can enjoy them. The space is divided into two main rooms, one with modern interiors, tall stools and café-style tables, while the other has a living room feel to it, with sofas and rustic tables. This tiny bar located in the hip area of Vesterbro offers an exquisite and changing list of natural wines and imaginative small plates.
