Today all of Lodge and Nursery children enjoyed a workshop on Birds of Prey, with a chicken, kestrel, hawk and red kite on site. Thank you to Clive Hill for such an informative morning – we have all certainly learned a lot about their food and habitat and the differences in these species of birds of prey.

Kindergarten thoroughly enjoyed their outing to the Natural History Museum in Tring and were enthused to learn about the largest collection of stuffed mammals, birds, reptiles and insects in the UK. In Transition a good start has been made learning the number bonds. It is important that the children know them off by heart and are able to answer them quickly. Transition will need to wear their tracksuits and trainers for their trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum
Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we are going ‘off piste’ and having three days of Art Workshops. The emphasis is on learning different skills (for example weaving, printing, collage). Please could you send in any empty cereal boxes you may have for us to use in one of the activities. On the last day of term, Thursday 26th March, Lodge children are all invited to come in to school with a homemade Easter Bonnet for our parade. They may be as creative as they wish! Finally, please may we remind you that Godstowe is a no smoking site.

Poem of the week I would like to be a drop in a painting by Miro Marjolein Hewlett IVL (8L) I would like to be a drop in a painting by Miro Drip, Drop. A tiny detail, not very easily seen but without the drop; the painting would be completely different in style. A drop has history, makes people think. It gives the painting a unique feel. There are so many, with one it would look peculiar, But with a number, it is very different. Naturally positioned…
Some people just glance at me; some people could stare at me forever, their eyes almost peeling me alive Looking at the almost microscopic details on a basic drop.
Drip, Drop. Gives the painting a feel; not too abstract, but not too realistic It is very basic, but still is a surprise in the painting. I am not perfect, I am original; no other drop is the same. This makes me interesting.
Drip, Drop. But still, I keep my head held up high, because I would be a drop in a painting by Miro.
Drip, Drop. When I drip down the canvas, I would not drip; I would dance. I’d leap down the canvas. And when I’d finally stand still, I would work the canvas for anybody who bothered to look at me, a tiny drop. Most people would not even notice me.
Drip, Drop.
