Awards AR READER of the week:

Mrs Wylie

Nursery children looked for beautiful flowers on their spring walk through the school grounds. They have been busy making Easter Cards and Easter boxes. In their cooking session the children thoroughly enjoyed making chocolate cornflake nests. Next week they will be discussing why mummies are so special. It was lovely to see all the ‘special somethings’ the Beginner’s children brought in from their bedroom. They explained why they are special to them and created accurate observational drawings of them. Kindergarten completed their work on light and space by constructing ‘dark boxes’ and investigated light and dark using torches and understanding that darkness is the absence of light. Transition thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Chiltern Air Museum which linked into their science topic of Materials (pictures below). They will have a bumper bundle spelling test concentrating on high frequency words.

We would like to remind parents, au pairs and nannies that children must be supervised in the playground after school once they have been dismissed by their class teacher. Some children have been found down the path by the uniform shop where there is a large wood pile. If it fell on a child there would be a nasty accident. Children should not therefore go beyond the tarmac paths. Please can you be sure to leave the playground before 3.45pm when it is used by aftercare. Please note that Lodge Clubs finished this Friday. We would be grateful if you could please return your choices for next term to your class teacher or Mrs Armstrong. Our Easter Bonnet parade will be held on Thursday morning and we look forward to seeing the children in the bonnets they have prepared at home.

Godstowe Rocks - TICKETS NOW ON SALE! I’m sure many of you will have seen the Godstowe Rocks flyer land in your inbox a short while ago so here’s a little bit about the bands performing on our main stage (there is also a bandstand which will get it’s own paragraph in a later edition). Only One Direction are the UK’s top 1D tribute band and have travelled the world playing to sell out crowds in places like Dubai and Tokyo. And now they can add High Wycombe to that list! Washington Irving are an up-andcoming Scottish folk band who have played many festivals including Camp Bestival; if you like Mumford & Sons then take a listen here www. washingtonirvingband.com. Rockaoke were the band of choice for Chris Evans’ CarFest, North and South, 2013. For the not-so-shy singers out there this is your chance to sing live on stage with your very own band and backing singers! Chilli McCallum is a former Godstowe pupil. She released her debut CD last November and we are delighted that she has agreed to perform for us with her session band. I’m sure she will get a very warm Godstowe welcome! And finally, Nick Cope writes songs and music for littlies so if you have a child in nursery or Lodge be sure to download some of his tracks in advance so that they can get excited too www.nickcope.co.uk.

There is an Early Bird ticket rate of £12 for adults and £8 for children. This will increase to £17 and £10 respectively on 24th May so I recommend that you purchase your tickets early as we do have a limit. All your family and friends are welcome! Click HERE to purchase your tickets and also your entertainment tokens (see below). What are the Entertainment Tokens? To safeguard the amount of money that will be floating round the festival all the FOG run stalls and the inflatables will use a token system as payment. Tokens can be bought in bundles on the day and you can also pre-order them when you buy your ticket - simply select which bundle you’d like. The bundles are: 6 tokens - £5 14 tokens - £10 20 tokens - £15 Depending on the type of entertainment you select you will either get 1, 2, 3 or 4 turns for your 1 token. So it’s possible that 1 token could go a long way! An important point to note is that entrance is by ticket only and that tickets will not be available to purchase on the day. Ticket sales will end at midnight on Friday 20th June.

As it crawled up my leg I started clearly screaming, Then I fainted on the floor and I thought I must be dreaming. Then my mum opened the door and she fainted too, So beware of the tarantula!
