Mrs Wylie Lodge Poem of the Week
This week Nursery children enjoyed a puppet show put on by Mrs Gwiazda and Mrs McQuaid. Since the show, the children have been making up their own puppet shows in our home made theatre.

Beginners would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Shenoy for visiting them to tell them all about Diwali and to Mrs Balaji for showing them the Indian artefacts her family use to celebrate Diwali.
Netball 16th October: The U11 A and B teams unfortunately lost their matches against Maltman’s Green, 10-0 and 11-3 respectively. 18th October: The U12 A & B teams went to St Mary’s Ascot to compete in a tournament. The A team finished second overall and the B team were fourth overall.

Kindergarten this week concluded their topic on Native Americans by making totem poles in their DT lessons. In their Science lesson, Transition learnt that some changes to food are reversible and others irreversible, including melting chocolate and investigating the best place for it to harden. In their Literacy lesson on Wednesday, Transition W enjoyed writing their own words to the tune of London’s Burning. A very happy half term to everyone.

Cakes Sales A big thank you to all the parents and pupils for baking, providing and of course purchasing the cakes last week, we raised £380 for Macmillan Cancer Care which is a fantastic result. Well done to all involved.

Cross Country 18th October: Pupils from Godstowe took part in a cross country race at RAF Halton against 15 other schools. We achieved some excellent results - see story below for the full list.

This half term please may we ask you to take a look around your house for any soft toys that you no longer have a need for. The ever popular soft toy tombola makes a return to the Fair again this year and all donations will be welcomed and appreciated. Equally for Secret Santa we would love to take off your hands any good quality, small toys and gifts for all age groups including the adults. And finally, may we please request that you start saving your jam jars! As in previous years we are asking you to kindly donate jam jars filled with toys, sweets, stationery items, beads and other age appropriate bits and pieces. We will also accept clean and empty jars as they will get filled! Please look out for donation boxes in Lodge and Main School Reception after half term.

Love in a Box It’s that time of year again! This evening everyone will be bringing home a letter and leaflet about our annual “Love in a Box” campaign. These boxes are designed to bring a little happiness to disadvantaged children, and although organised by Christians, they are distributed freely to children of any race, religion or creed, without any strings attached.

They are raising money for Living Paintings. This is a small charity which has a library of 3D touch and feel books and recordings for blind and visually impaired children and adults. The girls taking part are: Alice Moffat, Cleo Sloggett, Aisha Edwards, Lingsi Tse, Jojo Millen, Soraya Lockwood, Phoebe Stuart, Amaal Hasen, Amelia Weir, Imogen Sharkey, Evie Atkins, Millie Sellers, Erin Davey and Ella Davey. Winter uniform reminder
Returning Lodge cups Any Form I girls who have cups from Lodge need to return these to school after Half Term.
Please may we remind you that from after Half Term pupils are required to wear their winter uniform only. In Main School, cloaks must be in school at all times.
Please put a named label on them and leave them at Reception.
Cross Country race at RAF Halton On Saturday 18th October Godstowe took part in a Cross Country competition at RAF Halton against 15 other schools. Each race involved at least 60 runners and the Form 1 and 2 races had over 100 runners. We were very proud of all the girls who took part and Godstowe achieved some great results. Individual medal winners: In the Under 8’s race – Lucy Baker came 3rd, Georgie Larard came 6th, Lila Gardner came 7th and Sophie Hems came 9th . This was their first ever cross country match In the Under 9’s race – Serena Pallenburg came 3rd In the Under 10’s race - Maya Baker came 8th In the Under 11’s race - Megan Harris came 3rd, Olivia Spearpoint came 6th, Jinaan Lockwood came 8th and Isabella Ashley came 10th Team medal winners, awarded to the top three runners in each year. The Under 8’s - Lucy, Georgie and Lila won the Gold Team medal The Under 9’s – Serena, Annabel and Zahra were awarded the BronzeTeam medal The Under 10’s – Maya, Alice and Darcie were awarded the Bronze Team medal The Under 10’s – Megan, Olivia and Jinaan won the Gold Team medal.
Netball and gymnastics triumphs for Godstowe girls
The U12 A and B netball teams travelled to St Mary’s Ascot last Saturday, 18th October for a netball tournament.The B team played mostly A teams and did very well to finish fourth overall. The A team won all but one of their matches and finished second overall. Pictured above left.
