I hope you all enjoyed your half term break, whether you were here or abroad. It’s been a busy week this week with sports fixtures and then Activities Day yesterday. For the latter, I joined the Fourths on their trip to London. I thoroughly enjoyed the theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - the girls loved it too. I’d highly reccommend seeing it if you haven’t done so already. Our visit to the V & A museum was also fantastic.

Please may I remind those parents that girls are required to be in full uniform, including their blazers. As I mentioned before half term, if you know of anyone who may like to join us on Open Day please ask them to come along - everyone is welcome. Have a good weekend. DG

Form I were delighted this week to be visited by Mr and Mrs Leftwich, who talked to the girls about Kenya, to fit in with their Geography project.

Get ready for the tennis season with Chris Holland’s Easter Tennis Camps. The camps consist of tennis coaching, team games and swimming.

Mr Leftwich has visited Kenya thirty times, working with the Amani UK charity, so was able to answer all the girls’ questions about the country.

Two 3-day courses will be held on 30th March - !st April, and 7th9th April.

They enjoyed seeing his video clips of animals on safari, and looking at a range of artefacts, from soapstone animals to footballs made out of carrier bags! Thank you again to Mr and Mrs Leftwich for giving up their time to visit.

For 5-7 year olds the day will run from 10am - 12.30pm and for 8-15 year olds from10am - 3pm. Full information can be found on the website, www. thecoachacademy.org.uk, under the tab ‘Not Just Tennis’.

Activities Day trips and workshops for Main School girls On Thursday, girls in Main School were treated to various workshops and trips as part of Activities Day. The lower part of the school stayed in for workshops. Form I embarked on a creative day, working on aboriginal art in the morning followed by a production by The Aesop’s Touring Theatre Company in the afternoon. They performed their own version of Robin Hood which featured environmental messages. The Form IIs also joined the Form Is for the performance in the afternoon, while in the morning they enjoyed a workshop from the ZooLab and met various animals and creepy crawlies. The theme for the Lower Thirds was Languages. They came into school dressed in a Spanish, German or Italian outfit and were introduced to the three languages.

The Middle Thirds took a trip down to High Wycombe, visiting the Union Baptist, King’s Church and All Saints’ Church, as part of their “How boring is church?” day. The Upper Thirds visited the gamelan at the Royal Festival Hall, where they were taught to play music on a rare collection of Indonesian instruments (known as gamelan). In the afternoon they took part in a shadow puppets workshop. The Fourths took the coach up to London and visited the V&A Museum. This was followed by a trip to the theatre to watch The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

Poem of the week The girls in Year 8 have written poems and created collages in response to the poem, The Great Lover by Rupert Brooke These I Have Loved By Scarlett You These I have loved: White cushions and duvets, glistening and glassy, Lined with silver diamonds; luminous, fluorescent gold; My teddy bear, underneath my pillow; an uncontrolled friend of mine; And a fresh new smell of a new year diary; Christmas lights; a gift with no expiry; Dappled Daisies whispering to the wind; A pleased, enthusiastic, eager mind And fireworks that display an astonishing sight; Dreaming of a bird’s first flight; then,

The feeling of freedom after exams; relieved Thoughts of my past that I have achieved; Independent and unrestricted personalities; Justice of people with different nationalities; The irresistible smell of pure chocolate bar; somewhere above us is the twinkling little star; The hug from my family, the hug from my mum, The moment of sweetness, the moment will come; My belonging and my beloved, These I have loved.
