Teacher and pupils taking on the Santa Fun Run in Marlow
It’s looking a lot like Christmas... The Christmas tree arrived at Godstowe this week and a few of the girls have been busy decorating it. It really does look wonderful!
Head of Art Mrs Sloggett is taking part in the Santa Fun Run in Marlow on Sunday 7th December. She will be joined by her daughters Cleo and Darcie and four other Godstowe girls - Lois Logan, Poppy DenisonSmith, Elodie Hersee and Amaal Hasen. They will be raising money for Rosie’s Rainbow Fund and Marlow Age Concern. If you would like to sponsor them, sponsorship forms can be found at Main School Reception.
Godstowe impress at music concert in High Wycombe
Kazusa wins Francki Trophy Having scooped a handful of medals at Marlow Music Festival, Kazusa Taniguchi, a Godstowe Music Scholar, was invited to play in the Festival Concert last weekend, where she was awarded The Francki Trophy. This is awarded to the most outstanding piano soloist under 15 years old. At the concert Kazusa, who is 10 years old, treated the audience to Bach’s Sinfonia No. 10 in G major and certainly wowed everyone with her performance. Well done Kazusa!
A group of girls who regularly join 350 other young people every weekend to make music at the Chiltern Music Academy in High Wycombe, took part in the inaugural Gala Concert in The Queen’s Hall at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, last Saturday. Elayna Yap, Elysia Yap, Lydia Brearley, Emelia Yap, Amy Curry and Souny Park all performed exceptionally well. Many of them performed in more than one item and must be congratulated for the calm manner in which they moved from one performance item to the next. Not an easy thing to do!
Fun English presentations
Poems of the week
This term all girls in the Middle Thirds have been doing presentations about their passions and hobbies. This week Jesse Welsh gave her presentation on swimming, decked out in full swimming gear!
Sights, Smells and Sounds of Christmas Jesse Welsh, Megan Harris and Olivia Brown in 6C Christmas is snow, A velvety rug covering the ground. Christmas is light, The bright star glowing in the pitch, black night. Christmas is the sizzling smell Of the roast dinner wafting through the air Christmas is the bitter smell Of pine needles stuck in my hair. Christmas is the soothing sound of the fire, Crackling as the logs burn down. Christmas is the sound of sleigh bells ringing And there are so many laughing faces, we can’t see a frown The sights, the smells. the sounds What a Winter Wonderland!
Story Adventure Club suggestions to be published Each Tuesday, a group of LIII and Form II have been meeting for Story Adventure Club. Every week, the author Cas Lester has posted a chapter of her new book ‘Harvey Drew and the Junk Skunks’ on a website, with some questions and activities based on the chapter. The girls have also been asked to give suggestions for the next chapter and some of these suggestions have been accepted and will appear in the book, which is published next June. The girls will have their initials
published in the book so we will certainly be getting a copy for the library! Congratulations to Megan Pagett, India Macdonald, Emily Day, Charlotte Hems, Elysia Yap, Moyin Omotade, Georgia Watson-Smyth, Clara Butler and Sophia Bowe.
